Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay, so tax time is just around the corner. Again,
hard to believe, and so it's time to have a
little chat about what you can and can't claim because
the ATO have released a little statement saying please don't
go to TikTok for your tax advice.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
What are people doing?

Speaker 1 (00:21):
So there's a lot of people on there claiming to
be accountants or claiming to have amazing tips. One of
them is is that you can claim your dog as
a guard dog if you work from home. Someone legitimately
tried to claim like a Chiaha poodle as a guard
dog because they work from home.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
What's called poopoo? But what's.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Poo at chipoodle? Poo chipoot chichi poo poo chichi anyway,
very sort of It sounds like something that would happen
to you in jail, which could happen if you try
and claim it. Now, if you work on a farm
and you have a sheep dog, yes, that is a

(01:10):
dog you can claim right if you have a legitimate
guard dog because you have a security company, Yes, but
you can't claim a dog just because you work from home.
So that's a no no okay. Another one that the
tax account of TikTok has said you could claim luxury
handbags for laptop bags. Don't put your laptop in your

(01:31):
louis and go look it's a laptop bag.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
All good suggestions, they are, okay.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
This is one. A guy tried to claim his wedding
because he met his wife at work.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
And it was just a meeting. The wedding was just
like a staff well, staff meeting.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
I don't know about that, but he thought I met
her at work, so therefore the wedding is a work expense.
There was another one. He bought a pizza oven, so
he started bringing homemade pizzas into work for his workmates
and tried to claim the pizza oven as a work expense.
That's a no no. What else is there? So people

(02:11):
obviously try to claim lunches if they go out to
lunch with their friends and things like that. They can't
do that. You can't claim just go on next door
to the outer cafe and getting us all coffees gaily.
That's not a work expense. You can't claim things like
concert tickets. You can't claim haircuts. Apparently a barista tried

(02:32):
to claim for the boer and a glittery outfit because
it was a dress up at the work that night. No,
you can't claim that as well.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
You can't claim haircuts.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
You can't claim you can't claim haircuts because everyone needs
a haircut, right, so why do you need Why could
it be a haircut when it's.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Well okay, because you could debate that. If you're in
the police force, you meant to keep your hair neat
and tidy, and so you made to have that haircut,
so you could probably claim that because they're making you
do that.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Okay, Kids, once again, maybe go to a real accountant,
not TikTok nor gaily

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
