Speaker 1 (00:00):
High line of them desisted times is the main question.
How on the German bicycle there we go? That'll be
your first question when we play Gaily and Emily Jad's
kids edition of double on Nothing in about twenty minutes
time here at one. It's an on hot tomato, all right.
So while most of us can't even afford an overpriced
airport sandwich, staff of two of the biggest airlines in

(00:23):
the country of the world are getting the best bonuses
I think I've ever heard of. The bonus is so
big they could buy themselves a car. So Singapore Airlines
have just handed out bonuses worth seven point four to
five months salary to its staff, so it's nearly eight
months pay because they made a record profit of two

(00:44):
point eight billion dollars that's the Australian equivalent for the
financial year, and they have this deal with their staff.
It's a long standing practice, so I've only just heard
of it because Emirates have done it too. But it's
called profit sharing bonus, and so all the staff at
the airline do what they can to save the company

(01:04):
money so they make a big profit, so then they
can get that huge bonus nearly eight months salary. Can
you imagine that? Just drop it into your bank account.
You're not going to go buy a car today anyway.
So it's not just pilots, execs. It's all employees, cabin crew,
ground staff, everyone is included. So it's a huge win
for the workplace, great for their morale and great for
them working together to not just save money, but to

(01:27):
get people on the airlines so that they want to
choose Singapore Airlines. The company is your family. When you
do stuff like that, it is, isn't it? Because you go, right, oh,
they're saving for a wedding. All right, let's get a
good bonus and that'll play for your wedding or the
university degree, or the funeral for the nana, whatever it is.
Did even factor it into your budgeting, right? You would? So.
Over in Dubai, Emirates just announced a twenty two week

(01:49):
salary bonus that's about five months pay because they reported
a five point two billion dollar profit. Okay, so they're going, well, yeah,
so Emirates credited the bonus to resilient instead of caation
and loyalty of their workforce during the pandemic and recovery period.
I'd be loyal if I was getting five months paid
dropped into pay like the one suggestion of cash amounts

(02:10):
so that we can get actually hear how much some
people would be getting. It would be too hard because
it's it's based on everyone's weight, right, So if you're yees,
so if you're a hoster, you get your five months paid.
But obviously pilot gets paid more. He gets his five
months or she gets her five months percentage of your pay,
which is fair, I think. Anyway, I just you know,

(02:31):
I've never flown Emirates at Singapore, but now I'm so
curious too to see is there a point of difference
in the way they serve you. I'm sure people have well,
you know, Emirates is like outstanding, you hear about it
all the time. But back on home turf, so I thought, well,
how does this relate to us? So Quantus made a
pretty decent profit last year one point two five billion,
so it's not the same as Emirates in Singapore. It

(02:52):
could be a less less structured. This is what they did.
So they gave twenty seven thousand employees a one thousand
dollars thank you bonus and some limited shares through their
employee scheme. So I don't know what that how much
that would be. So it's not eight months pay or
twenty two weeks pay. But I guess they're awarding them
for something and they'd have to write because if you've

(03:14):
been trained by Cornice and you trained well, and then
you see that over at Singapore and Emirates, they're getting
these huge bonuses across, wouldn't you be poached. I'll tell
you what I'm doing. What I'm going to be a
host toar coffee me. It's never too late, never too late.
I would pay to see that. Do you know what

(03:34):
I reckon? You feel wonderful host? I think i'd talk
too much. That's what they want to the people. Yeah,
that's that's nice, yea. I'd be feeling rejection when someone
I'm talking to just lifts their book up and just
starts reading the book in the middle of my conversation.
That's about Collingwood nineteen sixty five. The headbones did go on,

(03:57):
the eyes that glaze over to the next mate. There's
no different to working with me for it practice I
am great practice. Anyway. I just thought it'd open up
the phones and ask the question of the Gold Coast
what's the best work perk you've ever got? Have you
ever got a good bonus like that? Is there? I
don't know, sandwiches on a Friday. What is the work

(04:18):
perk you're getting? Let's compare it to Singapore Airlines and
Emirate KFC at the staff party the other week. Was
pretty good. It was pretty good. Per I like my
coffee every morning. That's a good work perk for me.
That's a percolated double five seven. Apply for a job
and Singapore Airlines, I think they might actually like your jocksa.

(04:39):
You can score one hundred bucks to spend at the
start to feel the origin energy, live and loud at
the sports bar. Reserve your table for game one for
the best seats. Your best work perk hit us up with.
It could be anything, could be massive. It could be
as little as you know, a pretty coffee every day yea,
Kings biscuits, coffee whatever. Oh yeah,
