Speaker 1 (00:00):
We are Goldiewood and another famous person has landed on
the Gold Coast and it's the forty ninth Vice President
of the US, Kamala Harris. She was here for that
big Eric conference, which is every year. It's a huge
real estate conference. It's the biggest in Australia and quite
possibly the best. And every year they get these amazing
guest speakers.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
The past few years.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
It's all been via zoom. So one of them was
via zoom Stephen Bartlett, who is Diary of a CEO.
He addressed them as a part of the conference this year.
But Kamala Harris actually was here and in front of
four thousand people at the convention center, gave a speech yesterday,
which is pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
Oh yeah, I wonder what she breaks it down, Like
I wonder if she talked a lot about her campaign.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
So Jared went because Moldman helped you know a lot
of real estate agents, so it's best interest. Yeah, And
he said it was wonderful. Did she laugh a lot?
She does have a little laugh, doesn't it.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
He said.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
She spoke a lot about her past as in like
I was very poor growing up. It's a very unusual
vice president because most of them have money. Most of
the politicians over there need to have money, so she
really had to work hard to get all the other
things that she got to help fund getting into politics
over there. So she talked about that she did touch
on obviously it's a real estate conference, and so she
talked about the differences and similarities between America and Australia.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Right now, they're also struggling.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
With real estate prices, young people not being able to
get into the market, and a part of her campaign
was trying to help people get into their homes. So, yeah,
their houses are a lot cheaper and everything over there.
But she also talked about how she believes that it's
real estate agents the front line for helping people create
(01:40):
their dream and obviously she has to get her speeches
to align up to what she's presenting at she'd had
her keynote speech now, but she basically said that, you know,
it is up to real estate agents to help people
get into homes and work out, you know, how to
get into homes because it's beneficial for them, but it's
also beneficial for the country because home ownership brings you pride,
(02:03):
brings your security, and it elevates the happiness of a
country if you can afford your own home. So that's
kind of what she talked about, which was good. She
talked a bit about apparently Elon Musk and the rise
of AI, saying that AI is a great tool, but
we should be, you know, concerned about it and all
that kind of stuff.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Well we should. We should really like this so much
to gain from it, but there's so much from us.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Yeah, so she touched on that. Jared said, it was
pretty impressive looking around and seeing all the Secret Service,
Like it's kind of was out of a movie. Yeah,
all the guys with all the earpieces and all that
kind of stuff. And you were asking earlier, Alo, what
what like what benefits she would get after being in service?
So does she get the Secret Service forever? So I
(02:49):
decide to google it. So former US vice presidents they
do get a pension. Well, they get a detail for
only six months, so they get a pension for a
little while, and it's based on how long they were
in the service for she gets Secret Service protection for
six months after leaving office. However, that can be extended
by the President if deem necessary. So it's kind of
(03:10):
up to Trump if she continues to have the Secret
Service looking after her, and he could go all King
Charles on her and go, nah.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
Well I want you to have Secret Service anymore.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
If Musk has anything to do with it, because he's
chopping everything, he'll say no.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Maybe no.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
She gets trouble allowance if she's doing stuff for the government,
because there is a lot of that sort of stuff
that still goes on. Because she has been a vice president,
she'll always have Madame vice President as her title.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
She will always get front.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Row seats at any sort of politic you know, sort
of funerals and all that kind of stuff for important people,
that kind of stuff. And then as for herself, she
gets a little bit of money to help her ease
back into public life, right, and then obviously can make
millions out of speaking gigs, book deals, media contracts and
all that kind of stuff. So I don't think she's
going to be hitting up movie World for some free tick.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
I think she's going to be.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
I want to dress up in a black suit next
time she's doing it and sort of get getting nice
and close like security and then just say, excuse me,
be on you.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
I don't have that look it live here. I don't
have that look.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
I think they're at the front door now banging it down,
making sure you don't go near
