Speaker 1 (00:00):
Looking at tops of eighteen to nineteen degrees in Madraba.
Today mostly fine and sunny.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
It's gaily and emily jade for.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
One oh two nine hot tomato.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Oh, this is something that would be a nightmare. Father
jumped into the ocean to save his daughter after she
fell from the fourth deck of a Disney cruise ship
traveling from the Bahamas to the US. And this is
just a couple of days ago. Witnesses saw it, thankfully.
I always say a good witness on an overboard situation
is it's the way to go.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
If there's witnesses, they generally it's an accident. There's no witnesses, well,
of course.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Yeah. Videos showed passengers cheering as the two were actually
pulled in with the rescue boat. It took about ten minutes,
so it was really quick. Now, the girl appeared to
fall when the father was taking her photo. They should
have rescued him.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
But say, it wasn't just taking it a lover.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
I needed the pause theatric All right, you just have
to jump in, right they did. Okay, so that the
father was taking the photo, she's fallen in and then
he's had to jump over. But like they're talking about
it was up against the railing. She's five years old.
Some people have said that she was sitting on the

(01:13):
railing for a photo and he's taken it. So my
question is was it a selfie and he was sort
of holding on to her and he's dropped her, But.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
What was she doing on the railing?

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Why would you put a five year on the railing anyway?
I wouldn't do that even if I had a stronghold,
because you just don't know what could happen.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
This is the reason you spent half an hour into
safety briefing. When you get on a car, enjoy yourself.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
So the ship was moving so quickly. All the people
said that it was amazing how quickly the two heads
became little dots. So then they alarmed the captain and
he had to slow the ship down and then turned around,
got a little bit closer, and then they sent out
the rescue dinghy pretty full on and brought them back in.
But I'm just thinking, like, not every person would.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
I would if it was my child.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Yeah, well, okay, so I would, right, But I believe
we're talking about this yesterday and I said, I don't
think every single person would jump.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
In, not every single person. But if it was your child,
you'd jump in.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
No.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
No, I wouldn't even think I would be easy.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
And I'm saying not every parent would do it.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
You don't think a parent would jump in after their
own kid.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
I think you have to hold me back. I would,
and I would say everyone in this studio would, But
I don't. I don't believe in the in the full
population that every single parent would do it. I think
there are some parents would go, oh, what do I do? Quick?
Save my daughter?

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Imagine the selfie from the water's point of view though,
with the boat behind you, once you've got your kid.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Yeah, well garanteed, Okay, now we're going down that path
where it's a little bit more jovial.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
You think they're jumping in Whilst holding the iPhone.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
All I can think of. All I can think of
is the rescue boat coming, and it's Mickey Mouse and
Donald Duck because it's I just imagine we'll get your
back through.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
We're joking because they're okay though they're very no well,
as I said twenty nineteen, twenty five, Overboard nine rescued.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
So it's it's a thing. I've never been on a
cruise but you guys, Reckon, they give you the big
briefing beforehand. Is there anywhere on there where they say
stay away from the edge.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
I think there's only three reasons why people can go overboard.
One they want to, yeah, Two they're drunk. Three they're idiots,
because there's just no way. The railings are high in
some areas they're glass. I just unless you have deliberately
climbed up, which makes you an idiot, or you're drunk

(03:51):
and you climb up, climb up, you're an idiot. That
dad letting his daughter climb up on the railing is
an idiot.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
He is and didn't deserve to be rescued. And I
say that obviously he should have been. But like it's
almost that's irresponsible.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
He had to jump after her. It was his fault.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Oh yeah, well if he didn't.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
If he didn't, he lives with it for the rest
of his life. So regardless, you're jumping.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Right, it's crazy, isn't it. So I Reckon, get on
the phone. Do you think do you think every single
parent would jump after their child or not? You think
they would?

Speaker 4 (04:22):
I think every parent would.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
I just think it's human nature. There are people that
are cowards.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
Oh, that would be too scared that I can't swim.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
People would freeze and they would go, oh, I'm not
a good streammer, or I'm overweight or whatever, and then
they'd go can you I can't do it.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
I feel like adrenaline surge would be so big that
everything that you think would go out the window. If
you couldn't swim or whatever, it would just be like,
that's my child.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
I'm in double five.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Seven pine one O two nine. For calling through, you
could score yourself some tickets to Hot Tomatoes previous screening
if I know what you did last summer. I don't
think anyone's going to call up and admit they wouldn't.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Surely, well they probably. I'm not saying would you, I'm
just saying, what's your opinion? Would every parent do it?

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Do you think there's actually parents who wouldn't jump, because
I don't think so. I think you'd just naturally jump.
I feel like that's what happens when you become a parent.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Do you think there's the odd person that would have
a flashback to when they were a kid and they
used to say watch this, mum, and they'd get on
to jump over and try and do a flip
