Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm just wondering what people are thinking about the changes
that they're thinking about making for Kira and North Burley Hill.
There's a crackdown on mud slides basically, so when we
have a massive weather event like the cyclone or anything
like that, everything gets seriously wet and conditions perfect for

(00:22):
setting up slides down. The mud slides down those hills
and kids just go a bit of fun. It does
look like a little bit of fun. So they're saying
that Gay O'Neill as she's a counselor, has announced the
upgrades to North Burley Hill and Curra Hill on Thursday,
including sandstone barriers to stabilize slopes and terraces designed to
preserve the character of the site. So I would imagine

(00:45):
that what they're going to do is chop in with
sandstone so that you don't get the one long hill,
so it's just going to be a little bit of
a hill and then a drop off, and then a
hill and then a drop off. So you're still going
to have a nice reserve looking space, but it's going
to stop people from sliding down.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Although one didn't look like a mess, they all just
left there. Whatever that writing down the hill last time
and just said, O, I'll walk off.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Well, the thing for me is how often does it happen? Really,
it happens every now and again.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Every ten years.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
It's damaging. I would I like the natural look of
it without doing that, even though the sandstone sounds nice,
I think, leave it and just know that it's going
to happen from time to time. And then we have
that put a skip at the put the skip at
the thing at the end of it. So they put
all the boards in because people just buy cheap boards

(01:37):
from cave camart and whatever, and then they leave them there.
So obviously put a skip there and empty it out
and then with a bit of grass coming back. Because
I mean, you might say the cost of the sandstone
and everything will be a certain amount versus the cost
of having to replant grass and all that sort of thing.
But that happens pretty quickly, I would imagine. So I

(01:58):
like the idea of it just staying same. But we
want to open the phones and see if you think
the change should happen or should we just let the
kids have fun and the grown up kids as well
have fun and slide down the mud, get in, get
into it and not worry about it, or whether we
should sort of police it and start making some changes.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Stop the fun. Yeah, okay, double five seven one one
o two nine is our number the mud slide? Is
it on or is it off? Yeah? What's the vine?

Speaker 1 (02:23):
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Double five seven one one oh two nine
