Now, the shark attack made worldwide news, really in Cabreta
with that amazing picture of the board with a huge
bite out of it, and there was speculation that perhaps
it was fake. Liz Cantur posted about it yesterday. Hi Liz,
Hi guys, Now yesterday you posted something really interesting about
the shark attack.

And what was interesting to us is we had someone
coming to us and say, oh, hold on, I don't
think the shark attack's real. I think it might be AI.
And we were like, oh my god, are we dummies
on the radio? And you addressed it on your socials,
so let's unpack it. It was very real.

This is the first time I've experienced an AI article
circulating in real time, making a community question what is
real and what is fake. I'd followed the story of
Brad and his dark encounter pretty closely all day. I'd
spoken to the Cabareta's Board writers club. I'd spoken to
friends of his wife, Tessa. I don't know Brad personally,

but I post spoken to his in a circle, and
I've had the incident confirmed. So when I started being
sent this article, I stopped my tracks and I thought
to myself, how could I have been fooled like this.
I feel pretty humiliated right now. And then I took
a breath and I actually looked closely at the article
and there were a couple of red flags for starters.

The logo said GG bulletin, it's GC bulletin. There was
a spelling mistake in it, so false was incorrectly spelled.
And then I went the website. I searched for the
article and it wasn't anywhere online or on the app.
And then I had to basically west all day responding

to people who were sending me the message trying to
correct me that the incident was a fake, that no,
the article they were sharing with me was a fake,
please read it closely.

Everyone's been trying to talk to Brad, but he hasn't
been fronting up anywhere yet, so that's kind of helped
along this theory. So you spoke to a friend of
his wife.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Part of the reason that this has maybe grown legs
is that Brad has set really quietly. But you've got
to also see this poor guy has gone viral off
an incident which has probably left him so shaken. He's
a father of two, he's a married man. They probably
don't want this attention. They've got people like Kelly Slater
messaging them telling them what an incredible encounter. The bloke

Well, then let's get onto the shark. Obviously it is real.
Tell us more that you know from your surf background,
but also where the background.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
I saw the surfcam footage of swell Net. I think
that would be very, very hard to fake. I spoke
to surf Line, who I'm a Prebrium subscriber of, and
they took all their surf cameras offline because they had
to remove the visions. I spoke to the Cabareta Board
Riders Club, who confirmed him.

I spoke to a girl who was.

In the water nearby him and caught away seconds before
it happened. But did you speak to the shark? No,
he was. He swam off feeling pretty smug that he's taking.

would have happened just below where his legs were dangling
in the wall.

Oh my god, we were wondering closer than that.

Wow.

So do you think the shark had a mouthful of
board and that's why it didn't chomp on more?

Speaker 2 (03:46):
You speak to shark experts and scientists, this does happen.
They take a bite to something, they go okay, this
is a food and they move on. A shark come
up behind me and bite the board. The shark would
have got Dutch ovens Dutch of it.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
It would have got Dutch casse role.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
There's no gas in that.
