Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, it's a really beautiful, lovely new Australian movie. It's
called Kangaroo. And we have one of the stars from
that movie on the line right now, Ryan, or good morning.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Good morning, go to good morning, Emily Jade.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
That's us. Hey, a big congratulations. This film looks beautiful.
If here we were just saying it has total like
babe vibes or runt vibes or red dog or red
dog vibes, which Australians are so good at making these
heartfelt animal movies.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Yeah, and the movies that you know, put families around
the screen. Again, you know, I grew up watching watching
films that you know, they don't land. They're not just
entertainment when you're when you're when you're a younger person,
I think you know, they teach you things about life,
you know, loyalty, courage, bravery.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Ryan, I was just speaking of growing up. I was
just saying that ej. Before that, you're always one of
my favorite actors. But way back in back to the rafters,
I was always saying this, this guy Wi in those days,
this kid's going to go somewhere. He's a great actor,
and stop it, keep going. No, No, this is this
is fair, Nick. The jitty was and I was saying, Oh,
(01:00):
I'm just so happy that you're headlining this Australian movie, mate,
and I can't wait to see it.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Oh, I so appreciate that. Yeah, I'm really proud to
be a part of this one.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
One of your young coastars is a gold coaster and
that's Lily and we're so thrilled for her to have
been discovered.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Lily is such a star on the rise, Like she's
so humble to everything she touches, she elevates. She's trying
to get me to be a Swiftie on the film,
you know, constantly coming out say how about this song?
How about this song? Different Taylor Swift. She's just an
absolute superstar and she was so lovely. We got to
do a lot of the experience together. You know, we
were over there for a couple of weeks before before
(01:35):
shooting the film, getting to know the Joeys and how
to feed them and how to help them toilet train
and swaddle them so that we could bond them and
bond with them and they'd follow us. The idea being
that when you walk, they think that your assemblance to
their mother or their care, so they follow you around,
you know, often to the toilet and whatnot.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
How did you leave your babies behind once everything wrapped up?
It sounds like you were their mother and there was
like four of them, wasn't there?
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Yeah, there was. They helped. They all had you know,
three hour calls. They had to have breaks in between,
and they had, you know, a nice air condition trailer.
When we're out there in the middle of the deserts.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
They've got a union, that's right, or they should start one.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
There's so many great Australians in this film. From Deborah
malmon Brook Satchwell any Dingo, it's kind of a wonderful reunion.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
You never know which collection of people you're going to
have on any given project.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
What's something you learn about kangaroos in all of this
that you didn't know before.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Baby Joey's don't know how to use their bits to
go to the toilet originally, so so usually mumble sort
of dip her nose into the pouch and stimulate their
bits and let them know that's where you were from.
And so of course when you've got a baby Joey
not with its mother, you have to you have to
help them yourself so that you know you've got to
Joey in a pillowcase, and you know you've got to
(02:49):
and we pee out of here and we all over
and in the defense.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Such a glamorous job, isn't it. I did not know
that email. All that is so true. Well, we mentioned
they might have their own union. Sounds like they need
their own HR. Anyway, mate, it's been a pleasure talking
to you. It looks like a Ripper film and we
wish you all the best.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Oh, thanks, thanks to really appreciate it.
