Speaker 1 (00:00):
We're doing the Big Men in Bars calendar, right, and
we tried to organize this a bit earlier, but we
had to beggars can't be choosers. I wanted you to
get some modeling tips from those that have gone before you, Gaily, Yes,
and the Firefighter calendar comes out every year.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
I love how you're using the Big Man in a
bath for an excuse to get someone in from one
of these calendars.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
And I wanted some of the guys to come in
and give you like posing lessons. Oh yes, and they've
now joined the party. Everybody say hello to Jimmy.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Jimmy, who is he?

Speaker 4 (00:31):
Morning gyr? Thank you for having me front cover.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Boy of the twenty twenty six Firefighters and Dogs calendar.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Yes, so it's the different categories there is.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
Yeah. So we've got a dog calendar, cat calendar, Mixed Animal,
and a hero calendar. And it's my first year. So
I'm pretty stoked to get the cover of the dog calendar.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Cora, and you got the dogs too. You can't beat
a good dog. Yeah, now that's right, I'll about that.

Speaker 5 (00:54):
Do you want to describe the dog you're holding?

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (00:57):
So there's actually a bit of a story behind that.
That dog is a rescue dog. He's named Sarge. So
the person that actually has that dog now on the
Sunshine Coast, they got that from the rescue center. They
had a deposit on another puppy and the unfortunately something
happened and that fell through, and then she saw that
dog on the calendar, and then that's how she found Sarge.

(01:18):
And now, yeah, she messaged me the other day.

Speaker 5 (01:19):
She was looking at the dog mate.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
The dog. That's why.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
It's the same reason why your first question is tell
us about the dog, so you can look at the
dogs radio.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
I can describe Jimmy. Jimmy's got beautiful blue eyes and.

Speaker 5 (01:36):
Lots of big muscles.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (01:37):
There we go. So, yeah, what do you think of
us going in competition with you guys?

Speaker 1 (01:41):
I mean, we've got the big man in bars calendar.
I'm sure you've heard about it.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
Well, everyone loves a voluptuous man, so that you could
do all right, but give it a shot.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
You never know.

Speaker 5 (01:52):
I love some of the in your calendar.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
I'm actually taking notes for making ours and Tara, who's
making caldar Are you taking notes?

Speaker 5 (02:00):
She's taking lots of notes.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
They're taking notes for other reasons people this is fraudulent,
or you.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
Can film everyone else, not just Jimmy.

Speaker 5 (02:08):
There's tips in.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
There, take my shirt off.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
So there's tips on every page on every month for
keeping people safe from fires, and this one says keep
children away from hot objects so they can't go near you,
then can they?

Speaker 2 (02:23):
They have to put words on there to justify.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
She's stilling.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Words on there, because you can't just say, I'm just
looking at the pictures.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
Well, well that's what we do, don't. I've got articles.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
I got it for the tips because if we burn down,
I'm going to be ready.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
But God, have a look at mister March.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
Or there's something in there for everyone.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
But there's also like vouchers and stuff like fifteen dollar
movie tickets and stuff. So you really it's people can
buy for lots of reasons.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
They can, yeah, and to know it's going towards a
good cause, which is a good feeling as well.

Speaker 5 (02:58):
So what is the good cause?

Speaker 4 (03:00):
So this Showing Firefighter calendar has raised over three point
nine million dollars since the beginning, and that's ever increasing
with every sale of the calendar. So proceeds go to
different charities and organizations and animal shelters, disaster relief and
all sorts of stuff.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
I've seen on TV before.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
I think it was an Asian country, but all the
guys from the calendar went over. They were doing like
almost a tour, and they were showing is it Thailand.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
It's massive over there.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
There's literally they recognized in the streets. Yeah, yeah, like
walking like movie stars. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
They get off the plane and there's people with signs
and gifts and just hundreds of people there to just see.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
The same fighters. Why is it taken off? There?

Speaker 4 (03:38):
In particular, they put they put a firefighter on a
bento box and it just went bananas, right, like a
food container.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Right, okay, Yeah, And then from that it just went
like everyone looked into it and they just went this
is yeah, this is us.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
We just saw the image of the firefighters and then
you know that just blew up.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
We've got to do that. We're going to put you
on like milk containers or something.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
Let's do it. Whenever I am a little bit yeah,
which has been a bit different for me and what
I'm used to. I've actually got an article coming out
in People Magazine USA today.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
You were yeah, Gaily and one in Bark minute the
world and they'll pick one of the other guys. How
did you go filming and shooting though, because this is
not your Well, you're a firefighter, so tell us about
creating it.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
Yeah, so everyone in the calendar is a firefighter. They're
from all over Australia. I'm the only guy on the
Gold Coast. But basically, well, it's a funny story. When
I started with the fieries on my mates, it's like, oh,
you're just You're just doing it to get in the calendar,
blah blah blah, all that sort of stuff, and I
was like, no, I'm not doing that. This is what
I want to do. It's what I love. And then yeah,
the calendar hit me up about a month or two

(04:49):
months into the job and said are you interested in
being in the calendar? You'd be perfect for it, and
I said, yeah, why not, gave it a crack and
here we are.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
However, how much training and shredding did you have to
do for the shoot, like when you know that it's
coming up.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
To be honest, I'm pretty active all year, so I
sort of keep in shape with everything I do, but
definitely cut out the doughnuts and the beer around the
count of time and hit the way it's hard.

Speaker 5 (05:13):
Well, what do you hope for out of this?

Speaker 4 (05:16):
Oh, honestly, I don't know. I'm just enjoying the wave,
riding the wave and see what happens.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Right, You're just enjoying doing the job you loved in
amongst it.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
Oh yeah, Like I've done hundreds of things in my career,
you know, the jack of all trades, master have none.
So to finally get into the fieries and do something
I love doing every day, it's it's amazing. And it's
the first time in my life I've actually I drive
to work and I'm excited, you know.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
So I think people like when there's no fires around,
we forget and then when as soon as something bad
happens and the Fieries are there, you just go thank God.

Speaker 5 (05:48):
Yeah. Yeah, And if you run in, I'm going to
start far.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
It's going to set herself.

Speaker 5 (05:55):
I'm joking Gold Coast.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Yeah, she's I'll just run my dog up a tree
or something.

Speaker 5 (06:01):
Out there. I've seen that. Well, look, we do have
a funny story.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
You did actually rescue mine now producer and a baby daddy,
so there.

Speaker 5 (06:12):
Was a connection there.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
There's a bit of a car accident. So it's a
small world.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
So second, second time you've met, now a third time
because I think mine wanted to go in and you know,
say thanks for the fieries and she took in thank
you gifts and stuff like that, and you weren't there.

Speaker 5 (06:27):
She's been five times.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Thanks for coming in and giving us a few tips,
and also thanks for being a fiery and looking after
the community more importantly.

Speaker 5 (06:40):
Yeah, I said, I think he did give you any tips?
What are your tips for him?

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Get in the gym?

Speaker 4 (06:47):
They just hand me a puppy, say smile and looks sexy.
I don't really know. There's your tip there?

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Someone heard me a puppy more than a puppy.
