Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, take it easy if you are on the road.
School zones are back in swing for another year this morning,
so watch out for that when you're driving around. It's
Gaily and Emily Jade for one oh two nine Hot Tomato.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Well, people are often asked are you an introvert or
are you an extrovert? And we love psychology in this show,
and we kind of were talking last year about we're
introverted extroverts in that we are extroverts obviously because of
our job, but we also like our time alone. And
is there such a thing as an introverted extrovert? And
(00:32):
Gaily I found that there is, and it has a
whole name.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Are you ready for it? Yes, they're called an ambivert.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Right, So do explain what's the description of an ambivert?
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Okay, I'm not going to describe it.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
I'm going to let someone on Instagram do it for
you because they'll sum it up much better than I am.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
It's an ambivert is in between introvert extrovert, and research
shows that more than eighty percent of people are probably
amber not introverted or extroverted. So introverts get energy from
being alone. Extroverts get energy from being with people. Ambiverts
get energy around being the right people and the right situations. So,
(01:13):
for example, in this interview, I love one on one
conversations I feel myself, but if we were to go
to a loud bar or a nightclub, I would completely
shut down and want to be alone. Ambroverts can dial
up extroversion to hit their goals so that they know
they have to be friendly and meet people for an
interview or a position. They can do it, but they
need lots of recharge time. The reason why it's important
to know if you're an ambrot is because you should
(01:35):
know what are the people and places that drain you.
There are certain people when you open your calendar and
you look at it and you're like, oh, I have
to be with that person. That is someone that drains you.
They do not bring out your extroversion or your natural
love of people. There are also certain people who you
feel you could talk to for hours. They give you
social energy, They charge your social battery. So the very
(01:57):
first thing I have students do is sit and make
a list. Who are the people who give you energy?
Who charge you up? Who are the people who take
from you? Those are people that you want to put
boundaries around. We want to say no to, we want
to limit as much as possible. And then also the
police is where do you thrive? Is it conferences one
on one business or is it friends, socializing parties? Knowing
those places helps you optimize your social battery.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Ah, do you find that interesting?
Speaker 2 (02:21):
And then I was like, okay, how can I be
you know, today, years old and only hearing about amberverts
and kind of going. I think that's what we've been
trying to say. What we are an introverted extrovert. But
there's another one on top of that, and it's called
an omnivert.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
What's their omnivert do?
Speaker 2 (02:39):
So? An omnivert is a person who experiences extremes in
introversion and extraversion.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
So like an.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Ambervert, they are, as she just said, there's someone who
can balance your out there when you need to be,
but you're quiet when you want to be. So an
omnivert is someone who could be like a complete rockstar,
socializing when they're out there. However, at night they lock
themselves in their house, in their hotel room and refuse
(03:08):
to let anyone contact them because they are extreme in
their outgoingness and their ingoingness.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
If you know what I mean, you don't want to
be an omnivert. No, too much of a roller coaster
for me.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
So actually, some people this article that I read so
that sometimes with omniverts you can almost seem like the
person has a jeweled personality. It's like, how can they
be so out there over here? And then once they're
completely drained, just don't go near them. But I thought
i'd open up the phones now that we've told you
there's introvert, extrovert, omnivert and ambivert.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Who are you? Where are you? Do you sit in
any of those? What do you sit in? Gaila? Now
that I've showed them all.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
To you, I'm probably extrovert ambivert, a little bit of
an extra.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
And a bit of amby. Okay, we still haven't got anywhere,
have we. No.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
All I stack on from the audio that you actually
played is that you've got to put a list of
the people that drain you and don't train you. And
I just realized why I'm so exhausted after this every day.
I thought you'd get me first, and I've got Oh,
she didn't get me.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
I'm not trained by you. I've spending time with you.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Now I feel bad.
