Speaker 1 (00:01):
Lisa and Kegan, good morning, good morning, Thank you for
coming in, and we're so sorry for what you're going through,
are you This is not just any old lost dog story.
You've lost your precious rot Wheeler cahn't but you believe
he was lost and then stolen. Can you took us
through the story?
Speaker 2 (00:19):
So I was at home studying for an exam and
we had some people working on the yard. I didn't
realize they were there, and then by the time I realized,
I went to let him in and I asked the
yard workers where he was. They said he was around
the side of the house. Couldn't see him, and then
saw that they left the side ghetto open.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
He was gone.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
So we searched for a bit, had people come over.
People said that they saw him on Cobb and Co.
And then from there we had sightings of him probably
being picked up by two guys and a ute on
Mordan Road right near Riverstone Crossing, and then that's it.
He's been gone since then.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
And so that was all within Those came from the
same day.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
So those reports of him being spotted being picked up
came a couple weeks later from someone who had only
then seen all the flyers and stuff come in a
bit later, right.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Okay, so it's become a very well known searches. You've
got a Facebook page. That's what got about four thousand
people invested in bringing carn home. How did all that
come about?
Speaker 2 (01:25):
It was just I had immediately when he went missing
and we couldn't find him. I started putting him on
like Gold Coast Lost and Found and Lost Pets, And
there was so many people from all of the different
places trying to spread information, and so we decided to
make the piece so that there was a central place
that everyone could contribute to and we could just narrow
down wherever all the information was.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
And shows a lot of empathy from other people, and
I dare say quite a lot of them would have
experienced lovely relationships with their dogs because then they know
straight away what you guys are going through.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
But also, he's in a emotional support dog, isn't he?
So all dogs are important, but he's your emotional support dog.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Has been by my side basically every day that I
haven't been out of the country since we got him
two sixteen.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Okay, what do you mean out of the country, Like.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
If I was overseas, he wouldn't come with me, but
if I was in the country, he was with me.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
Yeah, okay, so he's just like you two are best mates.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Yeah, if you get off the bed for anything, you'll
realize immediately and follow me down.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
So tell us about him. What does he look like?
And because you feel stolen and perhaps sold to somebody else, perhaps.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
Perhaps he's highly pedigreed, so we would imagine somebody would
pick him up and not know that he's desexed and
in the hope of breeding with him. But he is
the most gentle, gentle little silk. He hides behind our legs.
If physitors come to the front door. He has got
a baby face, so he's really endearing to look at.
(02:56):
We'll rest on your leg, rest on your body, leans
on you constant. He always wants to be touching you.
These people very sensitive dog.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
And so in your search for him, you've discovered that
there is a lot of dogs going missing. Can you
talk us through that.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Yeah, it's been kind of shocking, especially obviously we've seen
a lot of rot wheelers specifically, but daily we'll have
multiple different rot wheelers that'll be having been picked up
or seen just out on streets. And so it's like
for a dog that most people should be aware of,
especially with their size and reputation, the amount of them
that are out just on the streets is shocking.
Speaker 5 (03:35):
But besides that, the stolen dogs has absolutely rocked us.
I've had over three hundred private messages of people trying
to help find Khann't and in that are numerous dogs
that have been stolen. And there's been talk of houses
that are flagged with a white shirt which lets people
know that there's dogs there. That's in Balana and along
(03:57):
the Gold Coast, the same type of ute has been
spot where dogs have been stolen.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
Oh, yes, we multiple times.
Speaker 5 (04:04):
Yep, we have the pictures of the youth. We just
don't have the registration.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Okay, And have the police helped you at all? Can
they help you in this case?
Speaker 5 (04:12):
The police are helping us, but they are so swamped
with work that we get messages at nine o'clock at
night saying they're still have fifty seven other jobs to
work on. So we're right in the back of the queue.
They've followed up the leads that we have given them,
but at the moment it's stagnant.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
And in all of their So he went missing in August,
is that right? July? Goshly, And in all of this,
you've actually gone to some psychics, yes, to get some
and we talk about this on air often that psychics
help people through their grief, and so in your grief,
they're giving you some hope.
Speaker 5 (04:48):
Yes, I have personally spoken to seven psychics. Five of
them all say he is absolutely alive, he is close,
and they do believe that somebody close by is wanting
to hand him in, but they haven't given me anything
that I can take to the police.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
You know, it's interesting. We had another community member on
whose little girl's grave got stolen the tiara that she
was wearing when she passed away, and she jumped on
air with us and said, I don't care who's taken
or why, could you just put it back? Just put
it back. That's all we want. And somebody did so,
(05:29):
just to give you hope. That radio works sometimes with
these kind of messaging.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
If you bring the dog back, like nothing's going to happen,
Just bring the dog back.
Speaker 5 (05:38):
We've asked for the dog to just be dropped in
a park where he's safe, anonymously, let us know and
someone will fetch him. We have a substantial reward. We've
been offered way more, but we don't want to give
that to people who steal dogs and condone the behavior
and let this horrendous thing happen to somebody else, because
this is rocktile world.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
Well, you've lost a family member, absolutely, Yeah, I can
see it in the two of you. How devastated you
both are. Well, I hope this helps you. How can
people contact you?
Speaker 2 (06:10):
The best place is probably through the Facebook page. It's
just called.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Bring Khan Home, and Karan is k h a n
and so.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Where both moderators on that. So even if the posts
don't go through, we do see all of the posts,
all the information that comes through.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
This will be hard. You'll probably get a lot of
people messaging that's fine, that don't know.
Speaker 5 (06:31):
That's fine. We'd rather get messages and the hope that
something is there. I have had a few crank phone
calls of people pretending to have the dog or ringing
me up in the middle of the night breathing. Also,
that's what we have to deal with. If that means
we can get him back.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Wow. Yeah, Well, we wish you all the best, go
out for you, and hopefully Cahn is going to be
home soon.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
Hopefully Kahn's listening. Yeah, we're get a move on.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
Car.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
People with good days, they've got Hot Tomato or whilest
he's sitting at home in someone's backyard.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
Look.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
One last thing I guess is in all of this,
you're highlighting that there's an issue going on, and so
people need to be really making sure their dogs have
got well if someone's coming to the house, that they're
cared for, doors, shut all that kind of stuff, because
I had no idea people are just driving around looking
for dogs, wandering around and trying to steal them. So
(07:25):
maybe you've helped somebody today as well, hopefully hope. So
thank you for that.
Speaker 5 (07:30):
Thank you very much.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
Good to see you.
Speaker 6 (07:31):
It's one Day Tonight Hot Tomato with Gaily and Emily Jade.
Right now we have some guests in studio with a
it's gonna say unusual, a random story about the dog.
