Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's the deal of people going to be able to
stay at Palm Beach or are they staying at your house?
I'm trying to work out what it is.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Yeah, so Airbnb have set up a beautiful room here
at the Palm Beach Surf Club and it overlooks the
beach right next to the Surf Club, sleeps for and yeah,
you get to come and stay for three nights and
it only costs seven dollars, which is that my number

(00:25):
I used to wear on tour And yeah, just sort
of trying to promote beach safety this summer and make
sure that people are safe in the water. And surf
lub Saving are doing an amazing job in that arena,
so yeah, happy to support them because.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
I was confused because the last time we spoke to you,
your house was on your BnB, like your actual house.
How's that going?

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Yeah, yeah, no, it's one of those things where we're
busy here on the Gold Coast. So it's such a
beautiful place to come and everyone wants to come here
for summer.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Yeah exactly. Well, all the clubs along that waterline, they're
all the perfect spots for everyone to stay. I wish
this was something that we could do everywhere all the time.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
For sure.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
For sure, you know, the surf clubs do have the
best spots on the coast. And yeah, this little room
here is incredible. So it's looks like it's Yeah, it's
just big open living space, got a huge balcony and
it looks straight over at the beach here at Palm Beach,
and it's got a few little odes, a few trophies

(01:32):
and boards.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
Of mine throughout my career.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
So there's little touch points around the room for the
whoever wins the actual stay to enjoy.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
And so mick do they then wake up in the
morning and they just cruise like next door the restaurant
and get a coffee and what's all the special perks
that you get.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
Yeah, they can do whatever they want.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
So when everyone's gone for the night, they're just rolling
around the surf club all on their.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Own this cruise and yeah, no it's sort of separated
from the bar, so you won't get suck.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
In the bar.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
But part of it is I'm going to take them surfing.
Am going to take them down to Rip Curl and
Cool and Gatter and they can go on a shopping
spree and then in the afternoon, I'm going to cook
a barbie on the deck for him.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
See that's the that's the bit, that's the accommodation is great,
but hanging out with an Australian legend is the bit
where that's a memory, you know, So these people are
going to be very lucky.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
Hopefully it's a good memory.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Imagine if you're really off, Mick and it's like, oh
do we have to.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
We're not feeling well. We don't need that barbecue to know.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Are you good on the tools? So you're a good barbecue.
What's your specialty?

Speaker 4 (02:44):
Yeah, master chef, master chef.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Yeah, but for all intentsive purposes on the day, can
you please just go, hey, guys, I've just turned vegan.
You could never do it.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
No, it's not actually meet I guess in a bit
of retirement to have you around more doing stuff like this,
because the other thing I saw you doing recently was
the film All about the Floods and you're still very
involved with that. Are you really enjoying this time of
your life and all the other things you get to do.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Yeah, it's actually been a busy couple of months, in
this last couple of months.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
But yeah, look it's sort of it's weird.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
We travel around the world and you know, we're sort
of just in our own track mine and then to
come back and just be part of the community. I
really love it. I love the community here on the
Gold Coast, selling Gold Coast, and yeah, to be honest,
I just try and be dad every day and then
all these other things sort of happen around the kids.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Yeah, it's funny, isn't it. We all, you know, look
up to you, Mick, and we really pedestal you. But
the kids bring you back down to worth, don't they
because you're just dad to them?

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Fully, fully, I'm always common denominator in my hand.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
That's all right.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
You say to the kids, Oh it's all about mum.
Don't you know who I am?

Speaker 4 (04:05):
They will have a clue. They don't care.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Yeah. Well, the whole point of this is to obviously
promote surf safety and beach safety and life saving. How
are the kids with everything that they're doing. Are they
good little swimmers yet?

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Yeah? Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
My daughter only she's only eight months, but she's getting
in the pool a little bit. It's sort of teaching
her how to deal with water and stuff like that.
But my son x Ander, he's amazing in the water.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
His favorite thing in.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
The world is to go down the beach and what
he calls taking waves to the face. Just loves rolling
around the shore breaks. But yeah, look, when he becomes
old enough, I'd love to put him in nippers and
make sure that he gets that safety awareness and learns
about the ocean and how beautiful it is, but also
it can be very dangerous.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Oh my gosh, how amazing if you've got nippers with
Mick Fanning's kids. I mean, that'd be pretty cool. I'm
at Northcliffe and I love it, and there's all of
the you know, iron people. Obviously it's a really good
club rolling out all the good iron athletes. But standing
next to you with our coffee, having a winge about
how we had to get up early to get to
nippers would be really fun.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
I'm not wearing Speedo's.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Have you ever worn Speedo's, Mick, I don't think I've
ever seen that.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Just sorry, couple of jokes here and there, but it's
not it's not a great sight.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Be a second encounter with the white pointer.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
You can see you pass me white legs.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
It's great to get egged again, everyone get on board this.
So how do we join up so that we can
get this experience with you.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Yeah, eleven o'clock on the eighteenth is when it's going.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
To go live.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
And yeah, first then first served really, so yeah, make
sure you set the alarms and on the calendar.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
Good on you, Mick. We love talk thok to you.
It's always great and we're really proud of what you've
been able to achieve and also what you're doing for
the community, especially with that floodwork that you've done so far.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Thanks, guys, I'm always great to talk to you guys,
and have a great holiday season.
