Becoming your AI correspondent.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
And add that to Gluten Gluten, Gluten and AI correspondent.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
That's what I am, but you go.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
This morning we were talking about Hungry Jacks. They are
now trialing AI at their drive through in Sydney and
they've been doing it around the world already. But I
have just discovered artificial intelligence is being used in the
classroom as well.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Have you heard about this?

Speaker 2 (00:35):
No?

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Okay, So across worries me.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Across a few Australian schools, exam bots are being used
to assess students English writing skills, and these exam bots
can mark essays in under a minute, compared to the
thirty minutes it would normally take a teacher to spend
on the student's.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Papers thirty minutes per paper.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Yes, to read.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
We're going to make a difference to teachers will finally
be able to use their school holidays rather than market
rather than marketing and doing assessments and pupil free days.
You don't need them anymore.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Ah, yay, now we can go. So this is straight back.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
But yeah, so there's a few companies that have developed
this and it's being used in essay New South Wales
and I didn't realize twenty Queensland schools.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Have currently adopted it already.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
It's been trained by tens of thousands of students' answers
that were marked by humans and then they've just I
don't know however, they make the AI scanned it all
in and it's used to evaluate grammar, coherence, structure, and
even creativity in writing. It looks to whether the student
has responded appropriately to a prompt, how will they argue
your point, whether or not their tones suits the purpose

(01:41):
of the text. So they're saying it's being used because
of speed. It's a huge time saver for overwhelmed teachers,
and we know they are consistency so there's no bias
or marking fatigue. Our scalability can be used for large
scale testing across schools and states, and feedback AI can
generate instant feedback for the student to improve their writing,

(02:03):
So they're saying that it actually lines up to ninety
percent of agreement with many tasks. The teachers have been
looking at their answers and going, yeah, actually, I would
agree with that, So there's only a ten percent leewate
at the moment.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Imagine creative writing would be the real test, because how
do they judge it?

Speaker 1 (02:18):
I can, So this is the pushback.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
So they're saying that cannabot really judge original thought or
emotional impact. They are worried about students that might write
in a non traditional way. They're truly creative thinkers. And
what about with such a culturally diverse country, what if
English is used in a different way by some students.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
And also transparency.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
People want to know that it's being used and they
haven't been told. So teachers are, according to this article,
are quietly optimistic about it, and they appreciate their free time.
It gives them to focus on students who need more
support and giving them more emotional care rather than having
to do that time marking getting stressed. So they're wanting

(03:01):
a hybrid model apparently where humans will make the final.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Call, but it will assist.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
So I personally, I think anything to give teachers more
time to nurture.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
If that's what they If they do use it for that,
that's what they're saying that to justify.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Yes, my concerent is this.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
I don't know about it being used for the arts
of which English can come under. I think sure for
maths and science, because a math answer is a math answer.
But the whole point of your English and creative arts
is to really try and expand a child's creativity. And
if they're trying to file us into creativity, I I agree,

(03:42):
I can't see how it worked their maths.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
Go for it.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Use it on the maths, creative writing and all that
sort of stuff. Leave it alone and lunch patrol.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Use it for Lafe patrol teacher interviews.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
All the English teachers now they will be the ones
that still have to mark their papers while the others
are all at staff drinks.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
Yes, that's jade anyway, would like to open up the phones.
What do you think should AI be used in schools?
Are you comfortable with this? Like I said before with
Hungry Jack's, I think it's coming for us no matter
what we think.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
But what do you think about it?

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Double five seven two nine. I just can't wait for
the day that glitches out and gives you extra burgers.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
And I think one hundred bucks.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Suspend it Soak bath House could be yours, just for
calling through and getting involved with the show, experience a
moment of bliss it.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Soak bath House memor made beach gift.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Cards starting with just thirty nine dollars. What do you think?

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Can you imagine it being used for parent teacher interviews?

Speaker 3 (04:33):
Your child needs to update its operating system

Speaker 2 (04:37):
If it was me, he needs to check his emails.
