Speaker 1 (00:00):
We did accidental winners yesterday, but we did it a
little bit differently to help those that may have needed
a bit of help after Alfred. People still without power,
short on food and of course communications with their phones
and that sort of thing.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Yeah, so we've been going out and just surprising people
paying their bills thanks to TVI your lawyers, so just
you know, go on to calls and having people on
the shoulder, we'll pay for your groceries. And so it
was lots of fun and we really enjoyed it, but
it meant so much more yesterday, didn't it.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Yeah, So we made packs at Drake's Yeah, at Bonoa yeah,
and ashmore so, and we were able to help out
a lot of people that called through yes and we
got five lucky winners.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
We knew'd be paying amnium if we just said, hey,
turn up, so we made sure that you had to
call through on air first and then we met you there.
And so we had to chat with our five different
winners to find out how they've been going without power. Okay,
wrote them, tell us about your power outage experience.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
We've room without.

Speaker 4 (00:55):
Pass since Thursday and there's six of us living at home,
so it's pretty rough and we've got no phone service
as well. No fridges can't work from home. We've got
electric shutters too, so we can't even open those. The
house is all dark.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
So what's it mean to you to be an accidental
winner thanks to TPIL.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
We really appreciate it. Like we haven't been able to
get food. All our food's gone off on the fridge.
This really means a lot to all of us. Yeah,
so I.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Would have been doing the cob and cook and eat.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
We do have a gas stove, so that's fine, but
we really haven't been able to eat anything. A lot
of the milk out to throw away, yoga's be able
to throw away, the bread went off the stuff and
the freeze is deeprosting, so we're on Russians.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
I think you've got tim teams in the pack though,
so to just make sure you eat them really quickly.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
Oh yeah, they're not going to make it home.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
I'll take them for myself. So Renee, how long have
you been with our power, food, water, all that sort
of stuff Thursday?

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Since Thursday night steal out?

Speaker 5 (01:46):
Yeah, it was my husband's birthday actually, and.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
He's like best birthday ever.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Frustrating, He had a birthday and had to blow the
candles out, but you didn't want to blow the candles
out because you needed light.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
That's exactly right.

Speaker 6 (01:59):
It was like it's been full on, very full on,
and then having the three kids is just trying to
keep them occupied and everything throughout.

Speaker 5 (02:08):
The whole thing is just wow, and they just get so,
oh so bored. I don't think I've played.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Enough games, board games in my life and cards?

Speaker 1 (02:19):
What does it mean to be an accident?

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Who winner?

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Thanks to TPI lawyers?

Speaker 5 (02:23):
Oh, you have no idea.

Speaker 6 (02:24):
I've even got a friend and she lives in Koomra.
She was without everything as well, couldn't get out because
of the flood that she had. So I'm going to give.

Speaker 5 (02:32):
Some of this to her as well. And it's just
it's a full on thing for all of us.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Yeah, so you're getting emotionally, I am. I get these
groceries dull and then hopefully you know what's going to happen.
You're going to get these groceries, go home and the
lights are going.

Speaker 5 (02:44):
To be on.

Speaker 6 (02:45):
No, I don't think it's not until Friday's page.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
How have you gone without power? What have you been up to?

Speaker 5 (02:51):
Still without power? Since Friday. Yeah, I've got two kids
at home, so they're going nuts. I managed to send
one to daycare finally opened today. They've found a generator,
so they're off today. That's my two year old and
my son is that. My mum's at the moment, just
hanging out. And I went there to have a hot
shower this morning. We've had no halt water, so it's
been a struggle.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
How good did that hot shower feel?

Speaker 5 (03:14):
I feel like a new person.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Your preparation did you prepare well? Did you think you're
prepared well to start with?

Speaker 5 (03:20):
Yeah, I thought we were going to be okay. Well
after the Christmas thing, we lost power then, so I
actually went and I bought some solar torture. So we
have solar torches and we have a generator, but we
haven't had to use it. Yeah, so I thought we
were prepared, but yeah, just taking longer than what we
supposed thought.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
What does it mean you do have won these essentials?

Speaker 5 (03:40):
Oh, it's definitely going to help out. We've had to
spend extra money that we thought we weren't going to
have to spend on, like paying for lunches and stuff
like that that we wouldn't normally have to buy.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Some people were spending multiple thousands of dollars just preparing.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Well TPI your lawyers. What would you like to say
to them?

Speaker 5 (03:55):
I really appreciate it, guys, thanks so much.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
All right, Larissa, tell us your story out.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Have you gone.

Speaker 6 (04:01):
I've not gone too bad, I guess in terms of
damage power wise, though, I yeah, I'm going insane. I've
got three kids at home, so they are driving me
up the walls at the moment. Trying to keep them
entertained with board games and all of the rest of
it has been been a ride.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Have you been able to keep your supplies cold? Have
you been able to care?

Speaker 4 (04:20):
No?

Speaker 3 (04:20):
Not really.

Speaker 6 (04:20):
We've been doing little random trips to sort of all
the shops around the place. I've got to even come
further down the coast. Kids have been eating dry cereal.
That's I mean, I don't know they find it fun.

Speaker 5 (04:30):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
I appreciate your cookie when when.

Speaker 6 (04:32):
You're back on I hope so because they don't at
the moment. No, look, power banks came in handy for
the time that they were able to recharge things. They're
all empty as well now, so it's just been yeah, whatever, whatever,
we can find.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
I've got these groceries now.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
Yeah, thanks to TPI lawyers. What would you like to
say to them?

Speaker 4 (04:49):
Big?

Speaker 6 (04:49):
Thank you? You guys are life savers. I yeah, cannot
thank them enough. Cannot thank you guys as well at
hot Tomato enough. You're all amazing. So yeah, thank you.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
No, you're amazed.

Speaker 5 (04:58):
No, you guys are amazing.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Prove it.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
How have you gone?

Speaker 3 (05:01):
We're going good for a bad little spot, but it's
all fantastic. Gotta laugh and have a giggle.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
And what's your story mate? How long have you been
without power?

Speaker 3 (05:10):
It was halfway through the footy on South and the
lights went out, so it took us two days to
find out the school because we've got no internet, we've
got nothing.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
So are happy with the school?

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Yes, house got through just by too, so that's all right.
Now it's been it's tough, but we're having barbecues and
we're going to bed early. But anyway, it's all good.
We just keep going, enjoy what we're doing and wait
for the sun to come out.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
How do you feel about TPI? Our lawyer has been
able to get you organized for an accidental winner.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Oh that is fantastic. How fantastic? Are they coming through?
And Drake's and Hot Tomato for looking after us all.
You know, like it's been a bit stressful, but we'll
get through it all. And I don't know what we're
going to do after this, It'll just keep going.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
I feel like you need to sing the sun will
come out tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Yes, I know, I don't know what to sing at the.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Moment, but yeah, on the sun will come out.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
But I don't know. I'll be right. You don't want
to hear me. You don't need to hear me singing, Oh.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Sudden you sorry? Turn my right, yes, yes,
