Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning. How's it going really well.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
I was delighted to hear that you put yourself forward
to being an ambassador for the Live Like Her Challenge.
Speaker 1 (00:08):
Oh thank you so much. When I heard about it
at this wellness event in Brisbane and heard all of
the women's stories, I honestly I found them straight away.
It touched me so deeply and I just wanted to
be involved in any capacity. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
So, the highest rate of homelessness on the Gold Coast
is women are over fifty five. It's pretty shocking, isn't it,
Emily very shocking.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
I had no clue, so I was very shocked when
I heard that.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
We launched yesterday at Rabena Town Center. All these women
or people are going to be sleeping at Robina Town Center.
That's the whole point of the Live Like Her Challenge.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
Yep. I'm very excited. I can't I've never slept my car,
I've never even gone camping or nothing, so it's really
going to be an eye open up for me. And
I'm really excited to get as many involved as possible,
because really, one night is nothing compared to what these
women are going through.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Yeah, So, what's what's the plan of a text to
sleep in the car. Are you just lying the seat back?
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Or I was actually thinking about this yesterday because my
seat don't go back, so I was gonna stay, Like
can I bunk in with someone else? Or I don't
know how this is going to work? Or the front
seat go on an angle? And I was thinking of
battery charges my phone, like all the things I'm gonna
have to pack, I don't. I'm really not organized when
(01:28):
they comes to this. What about that?
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Is it a bench seat in the back?
Speaker 1 (01:32):
You have a seat that you can I've got three
baby seats.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Oh no, you're gonna have to take You might have
to take it. You won't be able to sleep, But
you know.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
What, I can sleep anywhere. Being a mum of this
many kids, I feel like I'll probably sit in the
front seat just on an angle. But you know what,
it's the least we can do. And it's just about
spreading that awareness. And I will try to, you know,
take as many videos and share as much as I
can so people can really get involved and don't.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Yeah, honestly, I think it's pretty exciting that people will
be joining the live like her challenge, sleeping out at
Ravina and they'll be sleeping alongside you. I mean, it's
a dream come true for some people to get a chance.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
To meet you. It's a good time. I've seen the
Brisbane ones and they get together and have, like, you know,
a hot chocolate and tell stories. And it's all about
bonding with your community too. So I'm really looking forward
to it. It's such a good cause and it's so important.
So well done, girls, I'm getting getting behind this.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Emily and Emily, Well, I've got enough room. I've got
enough room in my Tesla. It's not as fancy as
your car, but the seats do go back so we
can snuggle in together.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
I'll come find you for sure.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Be careful, she'll hit the fart button and blame you.
I mean the teslas have a fart button. Yeah, I
do know that.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
I love it. They also have the little fireplace, don't they.
There you go, you can crank better, we can watch
a movie.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Thing is here We are talking about how fancy our
car is, when really there are women on the Gold
Coasts that are sleeping in whatever car they can afford
and thinking about that when they purchase one. Do the
seats go down? Do I eat a van? You know
they're sleeping in colder sacks that look safe, that they're
not visible. And that's the thing, that's what we don't
that's why we don't know. It's the highest rate of
homelessness because these women hide. Well, they're functioning.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Sometimes they are because.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Of their pride and their shame. So they are, you know,
the couch surfing. They're doing all sorts of things to
keep themselves with a roof over their head or sometimes
a car. So yeah, well, thank you so much for
joining us on air and spreading the word. Go and
check out the Live Like Her challenge and come and
hang out with the Emily's of the Gold Coast.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Thanks for having me, guys,
