Speaker 1 (00:00):
We're about twenty minutes away from Gaien Emily Jade's Double
on Nothing. This morning. We had a really good winner
of kids Double on Nothing yesterday. Would you like to
keep the tree twenty or would you like to DOUBLET
DOUBLET DOUBLET? I like to keep it?

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Please God, what a champion.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
You're one of the best performed kids we've had for
the whole year in twenty twenty five. So congratulations.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Sonny from narrang.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Thinks answered all the questions in like ten seconds to
get to that point. She really did you really did? Hey? Look, yesterday,
Woolworth announced that they're going to be dropping prices on
about four hundred popular products. It's going to be things
like chicken, snittles, bacon, tomato, sauce, oat, sliced bread, noodles, nappies, rice,

(00:43):
dishwashing pods, and they say that it'll probably save customers
about fifteen dollars a week on a one hundred and
fifty dollars shop. Right, Okay, So they're going to roll
the price drops down tomorrow, so May fourteen. Damn it?
They not today? Don't shop today.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
I shopped yesterday.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
What do you mean? This was trending in the news yesterday.
Did you not listen to Lucy? If I'm up to date? Okay,
come on right? So when if I been on point?
Never still wearing cargoes from the nineties cargo not these ones,
the ones that normally roll out of the brand new

(01:24):
Nike cargoes. Yeah, anyway, so I don't know. I read
that and I was like, great, And the CEO's come
out and said it's the cost of living and they're
trying to help, et cetera, et cetera. But I still
just smell a rat right because our grocery stores in Australia,
they have the monopoly over us. And it's been well documented.
I mean, there's been a whole inquest into it all

(01:46):
where the two CEOs of Coals and Wallies have had
to explain their prices to the Australian peoples.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Why did all the explode so drastically when they came
to Australia, Yes, why I did they?

Speaker 1 (01:57):
And if you travel overseas, so over here you might think, Okay,
you know we've got an Aldi, we've got a Drakes,
we've got an i Ga. Because of all this snow
gear this week, by the way, specials one minute, you
get some snow gear and then you get a really
cool lawnmower your chicken, and then you never go to

(02:21):
the snow So I don't know if it was actually
worth It is different.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Different pops up on Facebook Marketplace, but anyway, you know,
when you travel you see what I guess this inquest
has been trying to say that there's so much variety
overseas when it comes to supermarkets, Like we've got one Costco,
so we go there and it's really exciting. But in
America they've got about.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Three different versions of the same thing, of those styles
of huge, big warehouses that sell everything from rice. Yeah, right,
so they have cheap prices we don't hear in Australia.
And I don't know how to change that because we
don't have the population to have more supermarkets. We still
need to just put pressure on our supermarkets to do this,

(03:04):
I guess, but keep the prices low. Don't do it
as a marketing campaign so that we will put off
our shop until tomorrow and then head there tomorrow and
go crazy. But I just wanted to open up the
phones first of all. I on my side, do you
think you know that we should be continuing to put
pressure on our grocery stores to bring the price down,
especially at the moment. How do we put pressure on

(03:25):
them that don't shop there? Right? Ali? Well, or go
to markets? And that's what I wanted to do.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Where are you?

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Where are you getting your food from? That's what I
want to ask the question, how are you routing the system?
So I go to the Hottter markets. I'd go every
Sunday and it's where I'm getting all my fresh fruit
and vegetables from. I love it because it's face to
face with all of the growers there. You start to
develop a nice relationship. It is all from the farmers,
which makes a massive difference to farmers, and it is

(03:54):
cheaper in the end. And it's also fun. It's a
vibe because you're there and you're getting your egg roll
and your cup of coffee and your I don't know
what else I buy there? What else do I get there?
I get my shower kraut, honestly, and then kids have
a play in the Oh my god, Gail, everything you
put it, it's good for you, it's good for your
gut health. Put it on your steak, delicious. Can you

(04:17):
bring in some sauer kraut. I can Actually, you've been
putting sauerkrawd in for a long double five seven nine.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
You could score yourself a hot tomato.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Previous screen and family pastor karate kid legend. Nice. Yes,
we just want to know what are your secrets? What
are you doing? How are you getting your cheap food?
Let's share the love and will this change your mind?
Will you be? Will you a cold shopper? And you're
going to go to Woollies for this? Will this help you?
