Purpose is all about applying your skills toward contributing to the greater good in a way that matters to you. So, identifying what you care about is an important first step.
- What are you good at ?
- What have you done that gave you a skill that can be used for a cause ?
- What do you care about in your community ?
- How do you think I’ll leave my mark on the world?
- What are you doing?
- What is important to you?
- What do you really care about, and why?
The why part is particularly important, because purposes usually emerges from our reasons for caring.
S - pecific Make sure your goal is as specific as possible.
M - easurable Goals that are hard to measure are goals that are hard to meet.
A - ttainable Make sure the goal itself is reachable
R - ealistic It is important to dream big dreams and aim high, but don’t set yourself up for disappointment by trying to reach an unrealistic goal
T - imely People who set goals without target completion dates rarely accomplish their objectives
