Greg Vine (00:00):
I've been interested
in paranormal all my life.
(00:01):
It actually throws a lot ofpeople off, but I'm actually the
skeptic of our group.
So the app version I startedthis as a website probably like
10 years ago, and then fiveyears ago it started on the App
Store and Google Play and I'vejust kind of been tweaking it
(00:23):
since then.
And I've just kind of beentweaking it since then, but it's
mostly just because, actually,I always searched for something
like this when I was younger andI could never find it, so I
just decided to make it.
Thank you.
Logan Mathias (01:22):
Well, hey,
everybody welcome back hey
everyone.
This is Generation X Paranormal.
I'm Logan.
Nicole Mathias (01:27):
And I'm Nicole.
Logan Mathias (01:28):
Guys, you can
probably tell I've been sick.
Yes, he has, it sucks.
Yeah, I'll admit I got the ick.
I don't know where I got itfrom.
Nicole Mathias (01:38):
Riding around in
a Jeep with the top down when
it was too cold.
Logan Mathias (01:41):
Well, listen okay
with the top down when it was
too cold.
Well, listen, okay, so it wasanybody who lives in the, in the
general vicinity or the midwestin general, hell, anywhere
that's cold.
Um, you know, you get that justgod-awful winter.
You know where it's likesnowing, and then then you hit
the negative 30s and all thatkind of stuff and then you get
that one day it's like 55degrees and you think it's like
(02:03):
yeah, 80.
it's like, oh my gosh, I can runaround here in a tank top and
shorts, but no, this wasactually 80 degrees the other
day.
So you know we have a Wranglerand I took the top down.
Nicole Mathias (02:15):
It wasn't 80
that day.
It was only like 60 something.
Logan Mathias (02:17):
But it was warm,
okay, but apparently I got sick.
And you know what can I say?
Listen, we are excited to haveyou guys here.
We've got a very interestingshow, because obviously we talk
to a lot of people that dothings in the paranormal,
whether it's investigations orwhatever.
(02:38):
Have you you know, ufo, ufology, all that kind of stuff.
So we have somebody who's notonly a paranormal investigator
but he's actually developedsomething pretty cool.
And can you tell us a littlebit about who he got on?
Nicole Mathias (02:52):
So his name is
Greg Vine and he is the founder
and creator of the Haunted Mapsapp.
So application Application Appon your phone.
That's right.
Greg's been interested in theparanormal as long as he can
remember, but he has beeninvestigating since 2019.
He's a skeptic who is lookingfor scientific proof of spirits,
but he's developed this hauntedmaps app yeah and I actually
(03:16):
discovered this about a year agoand I was like, oh, this is a
great idea.
Yeah, and um, I'm so excited tohave him on and speak with him,
because this is going to changea lot of things.
For for sure, those of us thatlike to, you know, do the
paranormal investigation.
Yeah, that's right the ghosthunting, the paranormal
investigating.
Greg Vine (03:36):
So I'm excited to
speak with him let's find out
what this app is all about.
Nicole Mathias (03:40):
Let's talk to
greg.
Logan Mathias (03:43):
Well, hey, greg,
how you doing Good how about?
You?
Oh, not too bad.
Our audience will probablyguess that I've got a little bit
of a sniffle because I've gotkind of a weird sound in my
voice.
But anyway, other than that,we're doing okay.
Welcome to Generation XParanormal.
Thanks for having me?
Yeah, of course.
So we get quite a few differentguests.
I mean, most of them are youknow whether they're
(04:04):
investigators or whether they'reyou know, authors psychic,
anything from the paranormal butyou bring something very unique
to the table which we're prettyexcited about.
I don't know that much hasexisted prior to this.
If it has, I've never used it,but this is going to be great.
We'll talk more about it, butyou created quite an app, so I
(04:27):
think it certainly deserves itsdue.
But before we get into that, can you kind of just tell our
audience a little bit aboutyourself?
Greg Vine (04:33):
Yeah, so I've
basically been interested in
paranormal all my life.
It actually throws a lot ofpeople off, but I'm actually the
skeptic of our group.
So the app version I startedthis as a website probably like
10 years ago, and then um fiveyears ago it started on the app
(04:54):
store and google play and I'vejust kind of been tweaking it
since then.
But, um, it's mostly justbecause actually, um, I always
search for something like thiswhen I was younger and I could
never find it, so I alwayswanted so I just decided to make
it yeah, for sure, and I, totell you the truth, I don't
think I've seen anything like itbefore I have
Nicole Mathias (05:17):
not no I've been
searching for stuff.
I know and I know peoplecomment all the time about
making like a an airbnb righttype of site where you can find
these, these locations.
So your, your app is perfect, and when I first saw it I was
like, oh, that's awesome, yeahfor sure, yeah.
Greg Vine (05:34):
So, um, yeah, because
when I made it there was
nothing.
Um, there has been a few thatpopped up over the last few
years, but, um, they do not havea lot of locations at all.
So I definitely, definitelycheck them.
Um and uh, I know there's alsolike a haunted house, one that's
really popular, but that'sreally different.
Logan Mathias (05:51):
Yeah, I've seen
that one in.
Yeah, I mean, it's not, it'sgot its own great features and
things like that.
But what I, what I enjoy aboutyours is the fact that it's not
locked down at just oneparticular type of uh well,
anything.
Really it's pretty cool.
So you've got a background inparanormal investigation and
congratulations.
I'm kind of the skeptic of ourgroup too for the most part, but
(06:17):
which, by the way, I thinkevery good team needs it anyway.
But so tell us a little bitabout some of the investigation
that you've been on.
Kind of give, give us a littlebit of a clue of the
investigation that you've beenon.
Greg Vine (06:27):
Kind of give, uh,
give us a little bit of a clue
of where, where you've been.
So we actually only startedactually investigating places
probably maybe four or fiveyears ago, um, and we've mostly
just been stuck around themidwest, especially just having
a kid, um sure, so I most of thepeople probably won't really
(06:49):
know any places that we'veinvestigated.
We actually did go to, kind ofright before we started
investigating, we went to ourhoneymoon in Savannah Georgia.
Nicole Mathias (07:00):
Oh, yeah, okay.
Greg Vine (07:01):
I know there's a lot
of places there.
Logan Mathias (07:03):
Oh yeah, we've
got some close friends there and
we've been there ourselves.
It's a very haunted city.
Yes, it is For sure.
Greg Vine (07:12):
So mostly, yeah,
mostly we've been hitting up
local places in the Quad Cities, which is, eastern Iowa, western
Illinois.
Nicole Mathias (07:21):
Mm-hmm.
Logan Mathias (07:21):
Okay, before we
got started, we kind of talked
for a second.
I'm pretty familiar with thearea.
It's where my 9 to 5 companykind of resides at the moment.
But no, that's cool.
Okay, so this is the part whereif you're listening to the show
, which is fine, please continueto listen, but maybe later, you
(07:44):
know, check out the video onYouTube because we're going to
present the app.
Now tell me, before we bring iton, what I mean.
You don't have to go too farunder the hood or whatever you
do.
But what kind of got you tothis with the app?
I know you said it started as awebsite.
What's kind of the mechanicsbehind it?
Because I think a lot of peoplemay want to know that.
Greg Vine (08:02):
So I go through a
third party just because I don't
.
I'm not actually.
I can't straight up develop anapp.
I'm 100% Sure, but mostly andthe website you can't really do.
I mostly wanted to dolocation-based, so you're going
to see what's around you, andmost people don't seem to do
(08:23):
that on websites or anythingRight.
I always wanted the app in theback of my mind.
I've just always been findingways how to do that on like
websites or anything.
So right, I always wanted theapp in the back of my mind.
I just always been finding wayshow to do it yeah, well, I mean
first of all building anapplication.
Logan Mathias (08:36):
Anymore it takes
a full team.
I mean, there's so much behindit, so I could see where it'd be
a bit difficult to try to nailit down by yourself, especially
having a kid and everything.
But okay, well, it's what's.
Let's bring it on.
Truth be told, this will be thefirst time we do this, so this
will be kind of fun.
So if you're listening on thepodcast, you're probably like
(08:56):
what the hell is wrong withthese people?
Um, all right, here we go.
So what I'm going to do now isI'm going to share this screen
and, uh, greg, if you want tokind of make sure I got
everything, yes, you want tokind of guide me through this
and kind of tell us a little bitabout where to go and kind of
what you think here, what we gothere yes, so right, when you
(09:16):
open the app, I mean, you'regonna have be asked to log in so
you can have an account, andthen it's gonna ask you for a
location and we only track yourlocation, just so you know
what's haunted around you.
Greg Vine (09:30):
We don't actually use
it for anything, it's just only
you see that and then it'sgoing to show everything that's
by you that's haunted, yeah, andit'll pretty much show how many
miles away it is.
Right, this is the Quad Cities,so it's obviously gonna have
more than most places being, um,yeah, being, I know everything
(09:53):
about it the area.
So nice, we just did an episodeon a banshee, so that's pretty
cool yeah, I saw that oh, that'scool yeah, so this um, this
page you can pretty much scrolldown as far as you want.
It'll just keep loading andloading, wow.
Logan Mathias (10:09):
So does it just
keep expanding its radius as you
go further down?
Greg Vine (10:13):
This one, yeah, this
one goes on, as far as I know,
forever, as long as you keepscrolling 400 miles away, 500.
Logan Mathias (10:23):
Oh look, this is
in Africa, so this is cool.
So let's, since you're kind offamiliar with the area, if you
want to just give us one toclick into and take a look at it
.
Greg Vine (10:35):
Yeah, so let's see.
Actually, if you want to godown, I can.
The most haunted place, the topspot in our area is the Rock
Island YMCA.
See that?
So this is actually now calledthe Rock Island Roadhouse and we
(10:58):
actually have just startinglast year.
We actually have a big Paraconthat's here, so it's probably
the biggest one in our area now.
Very cool, yeah, that's awesome.
This one we have, we, this onewears our pretty much our home
base.
We've investigated this placeprobably like five or six times.
Sure, yeah, we rented thisplace out many times.
Logan Mathias (11:22):
Well, I can just
imagine YMCA.
There's so many differentpeople that have gone through
that.
Greg Vine (11:27):
Yep, yep.
So this is going to.
Basically it'll show someplaces.
It'll show a picture I'm kindof slowly going through adding
pictures for everything Thenit'll show the name.
Some of them will give you abrief history, and then some of
them I mean they'll all saywhat's haunted around there, and
(11:50):
then An idea of what's actually.
Logan Mathias (11:52):
Yeah, yeah,
that's pretty cool.
The reports.
Greg Vine (11:54):
Yeah, the reports and
the reports are kind of a
combination of my research andthey are user.
A lot of them are usersubmitted.
Okay, a lot of them areuser-submitted.
Okay, I actually for the bulkof my information.
I teamed up with Dave Giulianoof the Shadowlands.
Nicole Mathias (12:14):
Oh, okay, yeah.
Greg Vine (12:16):
And the
ghosthunterstorecom.
Logan Mathias (12:18):
Okay, yeah.
Greg Vine (12:20):
For sure.
So a lot of them are from that, because that's what I used as a
kid, basically.
Logan Mathias (12:25):
Yeah.
Greg Vine (12:29):
So it's awesome that
he was able to he gave me
approval to use any of hisinformation.
He's had man.
That's a wealth of information.
I'm kidding, it's for sure, yeah it pretty much uh, I mean
it pretty much tripled mylocations, so I bet.
Logan Mathias (12:41):
I'm sure, so
obviously you got directions
here.
That's pretty self-explanatoryuh post.
So this would be let's say, I'ma user and I've I've gone to
this location.
Is this where I would actuallyenter that information?
Or?
Greg Vine (12:55):
yeah, yeah, it's, uh,
it's mostly to give.
Yeah, it's mostly a place togive your evidence of the place
or just kind of a breakdown, whatever you want.
You can just post pictures too,if you want, if you caught
something crazy.
Logan Mathias (13:08):
I'm gonna click
into this.
So if you guys get an update,I'm sorry.
Greg Vine (13:14):
Okay cool.
It's pretty simple.
Yeah, you can just put whateveryou want in the texts about the
location, and then you can.
Yeah, if you caught anything, you can post that too.
You don't have to post apicture at all.
Logan Mathias (13:26):
Okay, that's
really helpful.
And then claim would be if youwere the owner of the location,
maybe.
Greg Vine (13:34):
The claim is actually
different.
It's almost like achievements,so if you're within a mile of a
location, you can claim it andit will add that location to
your profile.
Nicole Mathias (13:45):
Oh cool, oh okay
Okay.
Greg Vine (13:47):
That was actually one
of the requests I've got, one
of the first requests I actuallyreceived.
So I was like, yeah, that doessound cool.
Logan Mathias (13:53):
That's pretty
cool, so do you do like a
leaderboard and stuff like that.
Greg Vine (13:56):
We don't have a
leaderboard.
I have thought of that.
That's actually pretty cool.
Nicole Mathias (14:07):
That would be
kind of neat to see that and be
like, hey, you know, x has beenthere, yeah, but that's really
helpful, I mean if you, you know, keep it and so you don't
forget about it.
Logan Mathias (14:11):
Yeah, yeah, and
they can recall it.
Nicole Mathias (14:12):
That's a good
idea.
Greg Vine (14:13):
Yeah, so it's almost
like a journal, in a way yeah,
yeah some people said it waslike that's kind of like pokemon
go for 100 places yeah, pokemonboo that's pretty cool.
Logan Mathias (14:25):
I like that.
Greg Vine (14:26):
Okay, so we've got
that location there and then the
bottom is just like if anyonesees an issue with the location,
that just sends it straight tome.
Nicole Mathias (14:37):
Okay, Gotcha
it's not.
Logan Mathias (14:39):
But yeah, I'll
have to edit that out because I
think our address showed it Allright, so we'll go back to
Davenport.
Greg Vine (14:46):
Yeah, that's the only
thing with.
This is for the list.
It'll go back to the start whenyou go back.
Logan Mathias (14:54):
No that makes
sense, though I mean it's going
to use your location Most peoplearen't going to be showing this
to the world.
Nicole Mathias (15:00):
No, they're not.
Logan Mathias (15:01):
Yeah, we are Okay
, so we'll go back to that.
Greg Vine (15:07):
And you said, down at
the bottom there are some
issues.
If you see any issues, yeah, just so people can let me know
if there's something.
Nicole Mathias (15:11):
Okay.
Greg Vine (15:12):
So like if it's
closed or.
Yeah, if it's closed or wrongname or anything like that.
Logan Mathias (15:19):
Well, and a lot
of these places, unfortunately,
are abandoned or in disrepair,so this would probably be a good
place to say hey, if you go tothe second floor of this thing,
be careful, because you mightfall through the roof.
Nicole Mathias (15:32):
Or no
trespassing signs.
You probably shouldn't be therein the first place.
That's true.
Greg Vine (15:36):
yeah, I mean we have
that in our terms of service,
but I know people don't.
Nicole Mathias (15:40):
Yeah, we always
listen to that.
Logan Mathias (15:44):
I've never done
that.
I don't know what you'retalking about.
That's not how I got into it,right, not at all.
This is pretty cool, okay.
So here we got our list.
So down here at the bottom Isee obviously you've got your
list and then map.
Greg Vine (15:58):
So, yeah, if you like
the map version, which you're
going to have to block that outagain, that's okay.
So yeah, this will give you.
The map is a lot more, so it'llgive you 60 miles within 60
miles of yourself.
Nicole Mathias (16:13):
Okay.
Logan Mathias (16:13):
Okay, let me get
out of our area.
Nicole Mathias (16:16):
Well, it's not
going to.
Logan Mathias (16:17):
Oh, that's right,
because it's 60 miles.
Yeah, you can search.
Greg Vine (16:20):
You can search.
It won't show your actual likea pinpoint, but you can search.
Same thing if you want, Allright, we'll do that.
And the cool thing about thisone is the search.
If you click on something, itjust kind of gives you a quick
information thing and it doesn'tget you out of the page.
(16:42):
So if you just want to look atlike a location, you can do that
, and then you can click aboveit anywhere to get out of it.
Logan Mathias (16:49):
Okay, that's
helpful.
Nicole Mathias (16:51):
I'll look at all
of those.
Greg Vine (16:53):
And then I don't know
if you can zoom in on this, but
we're going to try, you knowwhat's interesting is they're
all along that river.
Nicole Mathias (16:59):
It's like a lot.
Greg Vine (17:00):
It's a big blob,
being there's so many locations
there.
Nicole Mathias (17:02):
Yeah.
Logan Mathias (17:03):
Maybe you won't
let me zoom in, that's okay,
yeah.
Greg Vine (17:07):
I mean on your phone?
Yeah, on your phone, it's just, you just zoom in, like you
would for a map.
Logan Mathias (17:14):
That's really
interesting.
And what's great is you'reright you can just click in and
out of it.
So if you're traveling oryou're Go to a new city, Right,
you go to a new city and you'relike okay, let's take a look.
Greg Vine (17:28):
I always like to use
the map when I'm in, like a Yelp
or something.
Logan Mathias (17:31):
Yeah, for sure.
Greg Vine (17:34):
This is what I wanted
the base to be really, so the
list kind of just.
Logan Mathias (17:38):
Yeah, the list
kind of just came up and it was
easier right on the list isquicker you know they can just,
you can just fly through.
Nicole Mathias (17:45):
It tells you
exactly how many miles, whereas
on a map it could be, yeah, alot farther than you think
sometimes yeah, I love the list.
Greg Vine (17:52):
This is how I
envisioned it originally, for
sure.
Logan Mathias (17:55):
What's
interesting is you called it.
Look at that line for thatriver.
Nicole Mathias (17:59):
That river and
it's all right around there.
Greg Vine (18:02):
All of them.
Nicole Mathias (18:03):
Look at that, I
know.
Greg Vine (18:03):
Even all the way up.
Yeah, if you look at Davenport,it's all downtown.
Logan Mathias (18:09):
Yeah, yeah, I may
be in town here, who knows, in
the next six months or so I mayhave to do this.
While I'm there, I'll work too, just wow, okay, so, and then
you've got what's the one in themiddle here?
Uh, oh I should have, I shouldhave cleaned this up.
Greg Vine (18:26):
There's a, there's a.
Logan Mathias (18:27):
There's a lot of
bots in here oh, that's fine,
but this is basically this isjust going to give you here's
where it starts.
Greg Vine (18:34):
Actually.
This is just going to give youthe latest evidence people have
posted.
Nicole Mathias (18:40):
Okay.
Logan Mathias (18:41):
So it doesn't
matter what location, this is
just the most recent thingposted.
Nicole Mathias (18:47):
Gotcha.
Greg Vine (18:47):
Okay, and yeah, we
don't have a ton of these yet,
just because this version of theapp is pretty new.
Logan Mathias (18:56):
Okay.
Greg Vine (18:57):
Um so Well, I mean.
Like we totally, I totallyredid the app from scratch, I
think about two years ago.
Okay, yeah, so it's, it's.
It's somewhat new.
Logan Mathias (19:10):
Okay.
And then the little circle hereis that profile.
Yeah, okay, I won't click that.
Greg Vine (19:16):
We've seen that so
yeah, I mean, but yeah, the
profile, like, once you startclimbing locations it will show
on the bottom.
Okay, that's pretty cool Iprobably like, like it'll show.
Uh, oh, I don't know.
Logan Mathias (19:33):
Oh, there we go,
okay, the location, okay, oh
nice, that's neat it would bekind of cool not that I'm
writing an app or anything, butit would be kind of cool to do
like a leaderboard and badgesand stuff like that.
That would be interesting.
Greg Vine (19:46):
Yeah, I have thought
about that yeah I'm kind of
thinking once yeah, once morepeople start uh claiming.
And uh, because the claiming inthe posting is probably less
than a year old.
Nicole Mathias (19:57):
Gotcha.
Greg Vine (19:58):
Okay, once I get more
people.
Logan Mathias (20:01):
If there's not
anything else, I'll go ahead and
stop sharing, so we can kind oftalk a little bit more about it
.
Yeah, I think that's it.
Greg Vine (20:07):
Notifications is just
notifications.
I would send out Okay, gotcha, and that's cool, okay, so we'll
go ahead, okay, gotcha, andthat's cool.
Logan Mathias (20:13):
Okay, so we'll go
ahead and stop this, and there
we go.
Hey, how's it going?
Okay, that's really cool.
So, aside from, maybe, the dumbthings that I said, what are
you looking to do in the futurewith it?
Are you looking to do more likecustomization?
Are you looking for you know, where do you see it going?
Greg Vine (20:37):
Yeah, I'm always
looking for new stuff.
I always kind of open it up tosuggestions.
A lot of that stuff is prettynew Because it basically started
as just it was just a list, almost.
Nicole Mathias (20:52):
Okay.
Greg Vine (20:53):
It's come a long way
in the last year.
Yeah for sure.
Nicole Mathias (20:57):
Yeah.
Can users submit like alocation that they know of.
Greg Vine (21:03):
Yeah, I guess we did
miss that button, I think
because we were in the searchGotcha.
But yeah, on the top of thelist it says submit a location.
Okay, oh, okay, great yeah, andthat's why we get a lot of ones
that I have to edit, just incase, like there's some bot.
Nicole Mathias (21:18):
Right yeah.
I'm sure you get a lot of that.
Logan Mathias (21:20):
No, that's good,
because if I know, Well, it
could be actually dangerous too.
Greg Vine (21:26):
Well, yeah, it could
that too.
Logan Mathias (21:34):
Like if someone
grabs your personal stuff or
something, yeah, yeah, prettybad, that's pretty cool.
So are you looking at um likecorporate kind of buy-in type
things?
Are you looking to kind of keepit sort of uh, grassroots, or
how are you looking at um goingforward?
Greg Vine (21:44):
probably mostly
grassroots like I.
I'm definitely open to like ifsomeone wants to advertise
anything.
I've had a couple peopleadvertise ghost tours on there
and then it'll just kind of show, it'll just say kind of ghost
tour, and then the locationwhere the tour starts.
That's a good idea.
Nicole Mathias (22:04):
Very cool.
Greg Vine (22:05):
I'm definitely open
to anyone who wants to advertise
, but I'm not really looking to.
Sure, I've never really beenlooking to make money out of it.
Logan Mathias (22:15):
No, and that's
cool because, especially when
you deal with the paranormal, asyou know, everybody's looking
to squeeze a penny out of justabout anything.
I mean, I'm not going to lie,we do it ourselves, but you know
, it's just it's business.
But what's great is keeping itgrassroots, because it's kind of
like a playbook you can sharewith other people.
(22:37):
That keeps it pretty cool.
What about premium type things?
Are you looking to do somethinglike that in the future, like
some kind of premium service toit, like a bolt-on, add-on or
something?
Greg Vine (22:52):
I've thought about
something like that, but I
haven't really, um, I haven'tput any too much depth into that
.
Um, yeah, I'm just uh, I'malways open to any suggestions,
though.
So okay well, I also did.
I guess one I one I recentlythought about is I um maybe
adding like some kind of likeevent calendar for like um
(23:15):
paracons, or if people are havea hundred events that they want
to go live on, or something yeah, for sure, because that's a
really good idea.
Logan Mathias (23:23):
Just at a con and
having something like that
would be be a lot help advertise.
Greg Vine (23:29):
Advertise for them as
well I think for sure yeah, and
I've always seen people likejust like asking like is anyone
gonna go on live tonight orsomething like that.
Like where, if you wanted, ifyou're going live somewhere cool
or something, that'd be reallyneat yeah, yeah, that would be a
good add-on but other than thatit's just kind of like, yeah,
(23:49):
some of those suggestions I'vegot over the years and then, um,
yeah, I'm just kind of workingwith what I got For sure.
Nicole Mathias (23:57):
Well, it's in
its baby stages.
I'm excited to see where itgoes.
Logan Mathias (24:00):
Yeah, for sure.
Nicole Mathias (24:01):
Because it's
definitely grown since the first
time we downloaded it, whatlike a year ago, I think.
Logan Mathias (24:06):
I think so when
we first discovered it.
Nicole Mathias (24:07):
So, yeah we've
seen definite improvements since
then.
Logan Mathias (24:11):
And it's
available iOS, Android, the
whole market.
So we're running iOS, so that'sgreat.
Greg Vine (24:22):
Yeah, I run iOS too,
but I make sure to test the
Android one out just to makesure everything's going smooth
and everything Sure.
Logan Mathias (24:25):
Right, yeah.
Greg Vine (24:25):
Absolutely.
Logan Mathias (24:26):
Okay, so we know
that you've got this app.
Now that we're kind of throughthat, tell us a little bit about
some of the places that you'vegone.
As far as I know, you said it'slocal, but we kind of like to
try to get a beat on some of thethings our guests have seen.
Have you, uh, what, what's yourcraziest moment?
What, what, what got you um?
Greg Vine (24:51):
well being a skeptic.
I just kind of like I look forthose kind of moments, so, but I
don't really I haven'texperienced something myself.
That's kind of why I got intolike I want to investigate,
because I want to experiencesomething like that, like um,
like I don't believe in um, alot of the intelligent stuff,
(25:13):
but I definitely believe inresidual energy, for sure.
I guess one of the most thingsthat got me would be we
investigated a bookstore herewhich is super old.
It was owned three generationsAfterwards.
I was just like I've never beenso drained in my life.
I know I like I've definitelyhad the paranormal hangover that
(25:39):
they say, but yep but I was.
I was so tired like I couldn'teven hold my phone up at night.
Logan Mathias (25:45):
I just passed out
yeah, we know the feeling we've
gone through the paranormaldrain quite a bit and it's crazy
because you know you alwayshear about these people that you
know that are experiencingthese sort of things and they're
like, okay, well, and they'realways like, oh, I'm so tired.
And then you're like, yeah, tryit once and you'll figure it
out pretty quick.
It is very draining.
Nicole Mathias (26:06):
No, definitely.
Logan Mathias (26:07):
It's for real.
Eat more snacks and drink morewater than you ever will, or
energy drinks, or soda or yeah, especially, try to find a cat
ball at two o'clock in themorning.
Well, that's great.
Well, listen.
Um, obviously I know, and ouraudience is going to want to
know, obviously, how to get it.
Of course you can get itthrough the app store and
(26:29):
everything but kind of where canour audience reach you and just
sort of get involved with whatyou're doing?
Greg Vine (26:35):
Um, yeah, um.
I guess the best way toactually like, talk or go
through me in the community uhwe're, we have a hundred maps is
on Facebook X and uh, instagram.
Nicole Mathias (26:49):
Okay.
Greg Vine (26:50):
Um, it's just at
haunted maps at all three of
those places.
Logan Mathias (26:57):
If anyone yeah.
Nicole Mathias (26:59):
Yeah, I still
can't get over x.
I'm not gonna x somebody, Ijust.
I still call it sweater.
I can't help it.
Greg Vine (27:03):
I mean, I just
started trying to call it x.
It still feels weird it doesfeel really weird.
Logan Mathias (27:07):
Yeah, I'm gonna x
you, I'm gonna punch you in the
mouth for you X me.
Anyway, that's awesome.
Well, yeah, that's great.
Other than that, we appreciateyou coming on and kind of
sharing it with us.
We've been wanting to have youon for a while, so we're pretty
excited to kind of get you onand take a look at this app and
(27:28):
hopefully, moving in the future,we can kind of see some changes
and kind of where it's gonefrom here.
But, yeah, if you guys are inour audience, take a look at
this.
It's really cool.
Obviously, you know, we knowGreg's got it on Android, we've
got it on iOS Haunted Maps.
Take a look at it, download it.
It's really cool, it's veryuseful and hopefully this does
(27:51):
some good for you and get it outthere.
Greg Vine (27:54):
Yeah, I would love
for more people to get involved
posting and everything like that.
Logan Mathias (28:00):
Cool, great,
awesome.
Well, we'll follow you on allthe Xs and the tweets.
Nicole Mathias (28:05):
All the social
medias, yeah.
Logan Mathias (28:06):
I always call it
like UX face or something like
that, or one of those things.
Anyway, greg, thank you so muchfor coming on and look forward
to seeing you again.
Greg Vine (28:17):
Yeah, for sure
Awesome.
Logan Mathias (28:23):
Hey, thanks, greg
.
Thanks for coming on.
Thank you, greg.
Yeah, that's interesting.
You know, you guys, if you werelistening on the podcast,
hopefully by now you'vedownloaded it.
If not, um, you know, comecheck it out.
We've got the video on Facebook, our Facebook.
Well, I tell you, I really havebeen sick On YouTube, thank you
, but I think the thing I takeaway that I like about it is it
(28:46):
seems to be evolving.
It's going to change.
I like that.
Nicole Mathias (28:50):
Well, Asmore,
it's kind of like how I think
about Ancestrycom.
Logan Mathias (28:55):
Okay.
Nicole Mathias (28:56):
Well, back in
the early days, oh, okay, with
the DNA, anyway With the DNApart, or even the regular part,
just searching for facts.
The more people that join, themore people that give their DNA,
the more you can kind of narrowthings down.
And the more information youget, the more pictures you get,
the more history that give theirDNA, the more you can like kind
of narrow things down.
Yeah, and the more informationyou get, the more pictures you
get, the more history you get,and so bringing more people into
(29:20):
the app.
They're able to share morelocations, more evidence.
Greg Vine (29:25):
Mm-hmm.
Nicole Mathias (29:26):
And I think
it'll just keep growing and
growing and growing.
But you know how when you startsomething it takes a while to
build up and for people to learnabout it, and that's what we're
trying to do try to get it outthere because it's really
awesome it is, and we've used ita couple times, probably not as
much as we probably should have, but, like I said, some of
these things are new since wehad last opened up the app.
(29:48):
Right, but just being able to,you can even put your address in
yes, and it'll just pop up.
The things are and and half ofthese like around where we live.
I didn't even know about Ididn't either like you know
about the big locations yeah, yeah, everybody always knows
about that, right but like theselittle things I was like in a
couple miles from our house Iknow two or three miles and I'm
(30:09):
like I've never even heard ofthat here we are paranormal
investigators with theparanormal podcast, but it's you
know it's not like a big thingthat people go to rent out to
investigate, or you know it'snot a personal home or anything
like that.
It's just like locations, likeit might be the cemetery and
this is what people see at thecemetery, or this is a road
where they see like the spooklights or they.
(30:30):
You know, I was reading a bunchof those, so that's really cool
because much so then you're nottraveling hours and hours away.
Logan Mathias (30:36):
You've got so
much more that you can
investigate and I love the factthat he's keeping it grassroots,
because that's yeah, that's themost important part, if it
comes too complicated agreed, you know, it just doesn't work
out that way.
Nicole Mathias (30:48):
Well, when
anything goes big like that or
gets you know corporate and itjust kind of loses the heart,
the heart and soul of why it wasstarted in the first place,
True, that's true.
Logan Mathias (31:01):
But I do want
badges.
I want to earn stuff.
Nicole Mathias (31:04):
It would be kind
of cool.
Logan Mathias (31:05):
What a
leaderboard.
Nicole Mathias (31:07):
I know you do, I
wouldn't.
It's because you like prizesfor everything.
Logan Mathias (31:11):
well, you know it
is what it is.
Nicole Mathias (31:14):
I'm american
when you go on a trail in the
jeep.
So he just discovered this whenyou go on a certain trails in
the jeep, you get little awardsyou can attach to the jeep, and
so he's just like so superexcited about that, and so this
just it's not a little awardit's the same you make it sound
like the same thing.
(31:34):
Oh, I went to this place.
Logan Mathias (31:35):
Now I get an
award it's not like I got a
dundee for the jeep or something.
This jeep went out there anddid this really great trail and
I got a badge of honor I knowit's okay.
Nicole Mathias (31:49):
I'm just saying
it's an award.
It's the same thing as an award.
Got a Dundee or something.
Logan Mathias (31:54):
But no, it was.
It was good.
I was glad to have them on,yeah.
Nicole Mathias (31:57):
Yeah, I really
hope that everybody will go at
least check it out.
I mean, it's a free app, youdon't have to pay anything for
it.
Download it, tell people aboutit, those about it, those of us
in this field, and you know youcan add locations and share your
evidence and, like you said, ifthey can start, you know
putting on.
Oh well, this person's goinglive at this pair cons going on
(32:17):
there's more advertisement thereand it goes out to the core
audience, yeah, the people thatwant to go to these things.
Logan Mathias (32:24):
So that's very,
very important, absolutely so,
yeah, guys, tell us what youthink.
Download it, take a look, uh,like nicole said, it didn't cost
you nothing.
Um, get involved with it, dosome stuff, update it.
Uh, you know, let's, let'sflesh this thing out, get it
going pretty, uh, pretty stout.
Nicole Mathias (32:42):
Next thing, you
know who knows, we'll map the
entire world with all the I knowall the scary places to go, and
send greg your suggestions, because obviously he's listening
to them, because he's alreadyincorporated a few of the ideas
in the app, so now it may nothappen, you know right away.
Logan Mathias (33:00):
No, because it
does take time for that stuff
for sure um, but yeah, definitely utilize it yeah, well
, guys, thank you so much forstopping by and we're excited to
have the next few shows comingup.
And get ready, they're going tobe good.
Nicole Mathias (33:16):
They're going to
be really good.
Logan Mathias (33:18):
So other than
that, guys, we'll see you next
week.
Nicole Mathias (33:20):
See you next
week.
