In this special bonus episode of Genre Exposure, Jason is on vacation and Dustin cracks open the J-Horror Journal once more. We pick back up right where we left off with Death Forest 4 directed by Yasutake Torii. We're chugging right along and that means more of what you can expect from this franchise by now: more Kazuki trying and failing to unravel the mystery of Yoshie and the denizens of the Death Forest. This entry picks up heavy on the remaining plot threads from the prior film and gives us a continuation of the series' vague Crystal Lake-like metaphor of having the action go down nearby to the central location where everything ought to be happening. Checking off the boxes of obvious horror sites, we get a hospital this time. But before all that, Dustin recounts some of his recent watchings, including a dip back into the Shaw Bros box set and a look at The Creep Tapes. All that and more!
