Let’s Chat!

Step behind the curtain of "The Relic Hunter" as I unveil the creative inspirations, character motivations, and mythology that shaped this adventure series. This wrap-up episode isn't just a recap – it's a gateway into understanding the deeper themes that make these stories resonate.

What began as my love for classic adventure tales like Tomb Raider and National Treasure evolved into something more profound. The Relic Hunter's journey mirrors our own quest for meaning – sometimes we must venture far outside ourselves to discover what's been inside all along. Every treasure, every relic, was carefully designed not just as a plot device, but as a symbol of personal transformation.

Kale's character represents the ultimate sacrifice and partnership. Her evolution from sidekick to savior explores how relationships can fundamentally change us. When she and the Relic Hunter ascended together as king and queen, it marked a pivotal moment in our expanding story universe – the first time the Shadow King elevated a partnership rather than a single ruler. This wasn't just a plot twist; it was a statement about equality and the power of true connection.

The interconnected mythology featuring the Shadow King, Buried King, and now the Invisible King continues to grow. If you enjoyed this series, revisit "The Lost Samurai" to discover how Alistair became the Buried King, and prepare yourself for my next project "Remembrance" – a futuristic thriller that will push boundaries even further. The universe is expanding, and your support has made it possible. Remember, you create your reality – both in these stories and in life. Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello and welcome to the Gentleman's Journey podcast.
My name is Anthony, your host, and this is the series wrap up
for the Relic Hunter.
So what I'm going to do here isI'm just going to kind of give
you a little bit more detail, alittle bit like a backstory of,

(00:22):
obviously, the characters, how Icame up with the concept, uh,
that kind of stuff.
So, as I was coming with theconcept, right, I was, I was a
big fan of the tomb raidermovies and and the gameplay when
I was a kid, right, and also, you know, like, was it national
treasure and those kind ofthings I always loved finding,

(00:45):
or adventure type stuff likethat, right, but something I
think that was always missing inthose where everything was just
about action or aboutvisualization, like the visual
parts of the movie, right, andwith this, as I was coming up
with the concept, you know, Iwanted this guy to be Going out

(01:09):
there and he's looking for thesetreasures and he's looking for
these things, but realistically,he's trying to find himself and
that happens so much, like inlife, where you are having this
big dream or this big goal andyou accomplish it.
It's a great feeling orwhatever, but like once you kind

(01:30):
of get down from the high, ofaccomplishing it or whatever the
case is.
Your life kind of gets turnsback to normal, whatever it is,
and you start to understand thatyour sense of accomplishment,
everything that you're lookingfor, was inside of you already.
You just had to kind of uncoverit right.

(01:51):
And I know that's like a hugegeneral theme in a lot of these
stories, but it's the truth.
That's really why I write thisstuff is for you to have a
better understanding thateverything you've ever wanted or
needed in your life is insideof you already.
You just got to uncover itright, and sometimes you got to
go outside of yourself in orderto find yourself.

(02:14):
So, as we're talking about that, you know, one of the things I
wanted it to be too is like, when we're talking about these
relics, I wanted them to bevisual.
I wanted them to have a purpose, not just like he finds as he
moves on.
I wanted them to be visual.
I wanted them to have a purpose, not just like he finds us and
moves on.
I wanted them to have a meaning, and that's kind of where Kale

(02:35):
comes into play.
So I want to talk about herfirst.
If you looked at in thebeginning she was a very
smart-alecky kind of no-nonsense.
She was the brains of theoperation kind of situation,
right.
And then obviously, as thingsstart to unfold, she already

(02:55):
kind of knows who these thingsare and she's kind of taking the
lead role as he's going throughthese personal things that are
affecting him essentially, right.
And then obviously you come tofind out at the end you know
Kale was the relics and when heput them all together, you know.

(03:20):
They come to find out that youknow she was the one when he had
the visions about the woman andtheir house and he was happy
she's the one that's in the fireand that the kings took her
before she died.
Then she was able to come backfor him to remember who he is.

(03:41):
A lot of times relationshipswork that way.
What I mean by that is issometimes you have people in
your life that are willing tosacrifice everything on their
end just for you to realize whoyou are, and that was kind of.
The second concept of this isthat sometimes, when we're on

(04:02):
these big adventures or we're onthese trying to be great and
inspire greatness, that thepeople around you, it's also
having an effect on them, sometimes positive and
negatively, and when you're onthis path it's really more of a
group effort, not just somethingthat's singular.
And then you know these twoguys made their appearance again

(04:28):
the shadow King and Buried King.
You know one of the reasons why, like with the Shadow King
especially, he's a characterthat's going to keep popping up
in these things because, if thisis your first time listening to

(04:48):
these stories, we're buildingout a mythos, or a mythos right,
where there's going to be a lotof stories that are happening
congruently or in the same realmor same universe, right.
So you're going to see kingscome into play.
You're going to see, like ShadowKing, you saw the Buried King,

(05:11):
alistair, who was from our last, you know, the Lost Samurai.
He was in that, remember hebecame the Buried King in that,
just like how the Relic Hunterbecame the Invisible King.
You know that was a huge thingand that you know that's kind of
the mythos of this is thatwe're creating kings but you

(05:33):
have to sacrifice everything inorder to become that.
So, to go back on the ShadowKing, as I went on a tangent
there, he is somebody who'salways going to be in the mix in
pretty much all of these seriesin some way shape or form.
Series in some way shape orform.

(05:54):
We may not talk directly abouthim, but you're going to feel
his presence pretty much in allof them and I'll release this
later when we do his backstory, but there's a lot to the Shadow
King for sure.
And then going into Alistairthe Buried King, you know I have
a really deep respect and lovefor Alistair the Buried King
because essentially, you know, and I would definitely implore

(06:18):
you to listen to the LostSamurai I think if you enjoyed
this, you'll definitely enjoythe Lost Samurai, and that's
like his coming of age.
And then this is where you knowhe's doing his first works as
the new buried king.
So there's that.
But to kind of touch back onKale and the Relic Hunter, I've

(06:41):
said this last time and I alwayswill say this I have a really
hard time writing weak women andmy whole thing, and just in
life in general, is I believethere's always should be an
equality right.
And I'm not talking aboutequality as in like feminism,
those kinds of things.
I'm talking about equality asin when you're in relationships.

(07:03):
A lot of the times it's you'rein partnerships.
You guys are partners, you know, sometimes they're the leader.
Sometimes you're the leader,sometimes you're the leader
right, but you're always doingwhat's best for the group itself
or the partnership, right.
And as he started remembering, you can start to, you were

(07:25):
starting to see, he was startingto understand the sacrifice and
why she was there, and then atthe end you know where they both
ascended.
That was something that was newto me, because it kind of
changes how the mythos works.
But to be 100% honest with you, with Kale, I couldn't let her

(07:50):
go right.
I fell in love with Kale.
Kale is just, she is just sucha good fit for him and, as it
said before, when the king, whenthey ascend to a king, that's
kind of like everything is leftbehind.
I just couldn't see the RelicHunter doing that, that it had

(08:16):
to be with her and that's whythe Shadow King made that
decision is that he saw thatthat kingdom, if he was to
ascend like it was supposed to,that she had to be a major part.
That's why they had theconversation with her in episode
eight or seven, where she'sgoing to get kidnapped, where

(08:40):
they told her exactly what wasgoing to happen, why she came
back, all these different thingsas a reminder for his ascension
and because she made thatsacrifice, they both ascended.
That's why it was such a bigdeal, because it was the first
time ever that the Shadow Kinghas actually put a man and a

(09:01):
woman together to lead somethingRight, and that's why it was so
important to stay true to eachother, because in that kingdom
as long as you guys are true toeach other, everything else kind
of works itself out.
So that was like another bigthing too, with that.
Now going to the invisible King, right before, obviously, the

(09:22):
rail contra took place, you knowthat was he's a different
person to write for, and what Imean by that is he.
On the surface, you know, everything kind of looks
superficial, like he was tryingto go after him, trying to make
him forget those kind of things.

(09:43):
But realistically he knew.
He knew that he was fightingfor his life, essentially
Because once he's ascended, asin the Relic Hunter, to become
the Invisible King, there can'tbe two of them, there can only
be one.
And he's ascended, as in therelic hunter, to become the
invisible king, there can't betwo of them, there can only be
one.
And he's gone.
So that's why he was doingeverything he could to stop him

(10:10):
and I didn't, you know, becausethese are only 10 part series,
right, I literally could havedone a whole, probably separate
series, and that may happen.
I'm not sure about him in allthe background that he was
trying to do, like, for example, with the whole brother thing.
You know the invisible kings,or don't start the visible kings

(10:30):
, the, the shadow king, theberry king, went to the brother
and told him like, hey, this, this is what's going to happen.
You're going to get taken, buthe's going to plant in the relic
hunter's mind that you're deadand are you okay with that?
But by him doing this it'sgoing to be hard, but he's going

(10:50):
to ascend into the invisibleking and obviously I'd agree
with that.
And then again, same thing withthe father too.
That's why there was always somuch conflict and he didn't
understand why between him andhis father, because of the fact
that his father was kind ofupset, because he knows if he

(11:12):
stops this that he's stoppinghis son's ascension, which was
his birthright Right.
And that takes a lot when, whenyou can't fully tell somebody
like, hey, I'm doing thisbecause you're going to do this
and it affects me, because it'scost me, my sanity and my other
son for you to do this.

(11:32):
I mean, that's a hard situationfor anybody to be in.
That's why he was so apologetic, with everything that you know
towards the end.
But again, it all, it all workedout.
Now there might be some of youguys wondering, like, what
happened with the mom?
So I'll give you a backstory onthat.
Right, I wrote the mom in.

(11:53):
I had a pie about like sheprobably had two or three scenes
in it and it just didn't workout.
There was just a lot more andhonestly, like I said, when you
only have like ten episodes,it's hard to.
She would have been more of amajor part if this would have
been a longer series, but youkind of have to pick and choose

(12:15):
your battles, you know so.
And then, what else did I wantto say?
Oh, so let's talk about this, this next series and I think you
guys are going to be so I knowI'm excited about it.
So it's called remembrance, okay, and man, I'm telling you

(12:36):
it it is.
So it's going to be way morecharacter driven, it's going to
take part kind of futuristicsituation.
But I'm going to tell you, ifyou love the Relic Hunter right,
you love this, this series, andyou love the Lost Samurai.
You're going to love this.

(12:57):
It's going to be a little bitmore of a thriller.
It's going to be more mental.
There's going to be a lot ofstuff going on.
This is really going to push mylimits as a podcaster and as a
writer, for sure.
But I'm telling you, I thinkyou guys are going to love it
All.
Right, well, I won.
You guys are going to love it.

(13:19):
