(00:00):
What is up everyone?

(00:02):
This is Sara G, it is Gen Z Gab, let's get into it.
So there has been so much going on between the worst month of my life when I got COVID
then a sinus infection which is just typical me.
So that's been great.
Aside from that, I just had a lot of other things come up and you know, I'm looking to

(00:28):
try to build my next step if you will and it's just a lot on my mind right now and a lot
of redundancy obviously as I've said in the past.
But you know, something that was refreshing besides being on a family vacation which comes
with its own things but it was a pretty mental week which I'm grateful for because you know,

(00:54):
as awful as things can be sometimes less is more and we do a lot of things together but
you know, the time apart to decompress is great as well.
And I think sometimes like there's a blessing in disguise when weather doesn't go exactly
as you want it to because yeah, there's that.

(01:16):
But I do realize a lot of things that I do differently now that I've been on this self
healing journey.
Now it's everything that I'm doing perfect and now do I still have issues 100% have
I decided though to let go more a little bit because you know, at the end of the day you
can't change these people especially some of your elder family members that you know,

(01:40):
just want to stick to the way things are and I mean you can push back a little bit but
sometimes it's just easier to you know, ignore and just realize you know what it's your
piece you are protecting it.
You are not being selfish you are not being ridiculous or too sensitive or whatever by

(02:03):
just kind of moving along with it and just giving an eye roll or something because at
the end of the day you're not going to change again these people that you have disagreements
with also it's okay to sometimes limit the time you spend with them because just because

(02:24):
their family doesn't mean that you owe them anything.
So I wanted to touch on that a little bit because it brings in a great conversation
that Bunny Exo had with Elking whose father is none other than Rob Schneider which we
all know little bit issues there.

(02:46):
I have never really been that big of a fan of him I thought some of his movies were funny
and moments were funny but aside from that I'm not yeah no.
Aside from that it's just very complicated and I you know felt for her when I heard a
lot of her stories and just you know not everyone's who they seem or how they are and I think

(03:10):
that we should all keep in mind that you know especially with Nargis is that they have a
way of sharing their best self in the moment if you will with how because they're afraid
of how people are going to perceive them and you know they just want to give lip service
etc and that's where I'm not gonna get too much into other things or my own personal

(03:36):
life thing in case because now family members know that I have this podcast but I do want
to say just with the whole generational trauma thing you can tell where a lot of maybe you're
not so flattering moments come from but as long as you're aware of them I think that
you'll do better and that's what I can really say I got out of the L King podcast that sometimes

(04:05):
it's better to take breaks from people sometimes it's better to cut them off or and sometimes
it's just you know you trying to end the next generations problems because at the end of
the day it's what you can do what you can control what you have to offer versus making

(04:28):
yourself go crazy because you can correct people as much as you want or you can speak
out against some of the misinformation they're spreading but at the end of the day everybody
thinks that they're right and at the same time when we see how our world is unfolding
it's just nobody listens to each other and nobody has communication and it becomes us

(04:52):
never ending like cycle of stress that will never get fixed if we keep fighting instead
of listening and I know it's easier said than done I know that a lot of us backtrack ourselves
so I just wanted to talk a little bit about that and the awareness and maybe things that
we could all challenge ourselves to do which is listen to others and just you know try

(05:17):
to be kinder to one another because I think that that's hard to do with this stuff in
the kind one another even means sometimes like I said cutting people off because that's
being kind to yourself for you know being like enough is enough separately I do really

(05:38):
want to talk about how she went into detail over her OCD because as everyone knows I have
OCD and you know I take a lot of the quizzes just because lately I'm trying to figure out
which like type of therapy works the best for me what's my next step there and I think
that it's just very important to continue this conversation about it because she has

(06:05):
also described her points of Tourette's which is not something I have but I have OCD ADHD
dyslexia and just you know the genetic components and before anyone says oh my gosh are you sure
you just don't about it?
I'm not again I've been through it a lot and the things that I overlap with are just
really severe OCD things that come in waves for me I think I have it under control but

(06:32):
that doesn't mean that there isn't room for improvement on other things especially with
how much you know we're falling into fall we're going through different stages of life
and you know back from vacation might feel that way but it's I just think that you know
the roller coaster that is our life and our journey it can always be helpful to have a

(06:58):
little more insight and now I've done a lot of DBT a lot of CBT and I'm looking into trying
some other form and I realized recently that I have had a little more of a relapse with
OCD mainly because of stressfulness that's going on and like I say I also have a Shimodo

(07:20):
so just different things so I think you know it's okay to take a step back see where you're
going and maybe you can start to feel like okay what is my next step what is my next
step without it being what is my parents next step for me because again you feel like never

(07:42):
ending merry go round sometimes especially when you're a person that has you know had
very strong opinionated people in their life and I know that there's even worse with El
King's story again I truly my heart goes out to her that being said I just want to specify

(08:04):
that there's so many things that we can learn from ourselves and learn when we take the
time to not have other people in our ears telling us how we should feel or how we should
answer their questions or whatever and you know they're trying to understand but if they
can't understand even if you're trying to explain it super crystal clear that's okay

(08:26):
too if they don't get it they can do their own research it's not up to you to make them
understand so I do want to just emphasize that yet again because I think that we all struggle
with people pleasing at times and making sure that we're understood because especially
for a neurodivergent woman it's though we want to feel understood and I think that that's

(08:48):
a big theme and as we move on to even with the Olympics that's a big theme of wanting
to be heard wanting to be understood and I think that we learned a lot from the Tokyo
Olympics with Simone Biles and as she's spoken out about her own mental health and it's been
a very big theme during this Olympics I mean there's other issues that I will address later

(09:13):
in this podcast obviously but I just wanted to emphasize like yes I'm getting there I'm
connecting one thought to another making sure that I talk about how I see you know different
mental health moments popping up and you know you're not alone and we shouldn't put people

(09:33):
on this pedestal that they're stronger and whatnot oh yes it's great because especially
now I mean even the team USA for gymnastics has a therapy dog etc and there's obviously
a and obviously with a whole big elephant in the room that is what we're dealing with

(09:55):
with the whole Olympic settings of the judging and how they royally fucked up that whole
situation with the bronze medal and just how much we don't even know but the fact of the
matter is Romani I tried to you know tie similar to the US split the medals share the medal

(10:17):
and people say that just not existed the way that you keep playing these games with in
other people's emotions already is insanity also the fact of the matter is just the ass
denying comments that come not to mention the racism and the classism and whatever that goes
along with it again keep in mind that these three girls that are constantly fighting haven't

(10:43):
said much of anything about anyone they've not said anything in a negative light about
these other you know competitors that there they have again the people that are keyboard
warriors that appears or there's too many other people who are sharing their emotions

(11:03):
and then sending like death threats to Jordan Gillies and I think that that's absolutely
ridiculous absolutely not called for which a lot of other people can agree with and I
think that you know we have way too much of a entitlement to comment on things that way

(11:24):
we haven't even been there to witness and I think that you know their teammates have
been so supportive and I love again watching that but I wanted to just clarify again we
don't know we don't know we don't know these people let's not have this parasocial relationship

(11:49):
and let's not attack other people I know that that sounds so like cliche but that's where
I just get really annoyed and I know that people are like well they're allowed to be
on the job you mean blah blah blah blah blah there this this is their their fight whatever
but again can we do what have the stuff they can do even without people talk about you

(12:09):
know synchronized swimming or whatever or artists gymnast water gymnastics I don't really know
what it's now called but can we do have that stuff no so I think that we should just stop
judging especially these athletes and start judging more the judges that clearly you don't

(12:30):
know what they're doing and don't know how to do their job so yeah I think that there's
a lot more that could be said on that and especially like with how you know it's turning
around and who's on what side and I think that there really should be no sides because
again there's a weird thing coming up like even with the it ends with us it's making

(12:52):
me think about like how so many people are going on one hate train to the other hate
train and you know I really support Justin Baldoni for the most part I mean not a hundred
percent great with his takes on you know the whole Palestine situation etc and again it's

(13:18):
the whole presidential stuff I'll get into some other time but not right now but I do
think that he's getting unfairly treated I think that Liz Plank is a clout chaser because
she's willing to go on anyone's podcast and then back up anyone and then blame everything
on like feminism she's just their typical white feminists like again there's a lot to

(13:42):
be said as well as just the way that you know the rental and Blake lively are handling this
it just seems like a total like pick me and a weird why are you getting yourself involved
with this and I also feel like that with how much work that Justin wanted to put into the

(14:09):
film and he you know puts the domestic hotline there for people it just feels like really
yucky because I know I have said some things here and there about Ryan Reynolds I find
them kind of funny at times yes but do I feel like they're you know good actors to work
with I don't really think so do I see the change the change yes and again this is us

(14:37):
you know I'm having the parasocial and putting people on pedestals that really shouldn't be
I think that we always need this constant reminder or else it'll just get even more messed up
I also think that like Justin Baldoni is a very similar to Rain Willson where they're
just really trying to unlearn a lot of things as well as you know try to do better and learn

(15:04):
from their mistakes and again I still don't fully know how to feel about Justin bringing
Drake Bell on his podcast again like a lot of those other people who kind of say hurt
people hurt people there's just like a lot of things like you can feel bad of some situations

(15:24):
people are in but that doesn't give you a right to turn around and be an awful person
and I also feel like Drake Bell is one of those people that it's a little bit gonna
have even more things come out I do definitely feel for him as a kid being in the situation
he's in but I still don't a hundred percent agree some of the things that he did was completely

(15:47):
innocent and so on so forth I think that we all need to take pages from the situation
with a lot of the influencers that we put on pedestals as well and yeah so I just needed
to talk about that real quick because I know how frustrating you know all these hot topics

(16:12):
are well making sure that you you know stay in your lane without saying too much because
at the same time this isn't necessarily we don't know these people we can make assumptions
and we can make you know have our biases and see you know the receipts that people can

(16:33):
pull out but at the end of the day it's like we're the crazy fan people who are finding
out this information and we don't know any of these people again when it's the earth
shattering finding out that your favorite influencer did something are we even that
surprise like they're shady the people they hang out with have been shady people have

(16:56):
been calling out and being silent so none of this really surprises me when it's hypothetically
your favorite actor as well and yeah it's frustrating obviously for me especially as
like a smaller career that trying to build a platform as well that you know wants to

(17:17):
connect with certain people wants to believe in these people and then realize that a lot
of the times it's not what it seems and again like you rewatch the whole Cody co situation
and the whole you know JC Kalin Zach justice some of these people you know that sometimes

(17:37):
you might either have had a bad vibe but but at the same time thought that okay maybe
I'm the one that's the mess here I'm the one that doesn't really think that they're that
funny etc and I'm the one that thinks that you know it's crazy but it's really not it's
very depressing unfortunately like one of the people that I really did care about following

(17:59):
and really enjoyed and it wasn't JC or you know Cody co it was like the David Dobrik's
and when you realize that it's just like a very frustrating cycle but it's a fact so
that's why I keep emphasizing again not really wanting to meet our heroes let's not put them

(18:23):
in this godlike state so yeah let's move on from that cuz clearly that was super depressing
and the more that I talk about it the more that I reveal more things that maybe these
people might listen and then maybe a lot who might happen and we all know how things are
working out in a different different bracket of influencers and dance mom stuff we all

(18:47):
know that hot tea from reddit gotta love a reddit so in lighter news of this episode
we are gonna talk about unstable because I love Rob Lowe I love John Lowe I love the
whole series is phenomenal especially season two so go and check it out if you have Netflix

(19:10):
get it back in that top 10 bracket I think anyone who is a person that lives at home
that is maybe you know out of college or what not can relate to it cuz again there are so
many ways that this show has a little bit of everything for everyone it really is so

(19:33):
neurodivergent coded which I appreciate I see a lot of myself in certain characters
without being just one I do think that the additional cast this year was phenomenal
I think that Iris Abitao with Sion Clifford have great chemistry I'd love to see more

(19:54):
of that next season I'd love to see more of LaMauré from who played Winston who plays
Peter on the show I'd just oh my gosh there's just so many things that I couldn't enough
about I love how there's callbacks to parks and rec and honestly I think the banter obviously

(20:20):
between the father and son is phenomenal but I find myself relating more and more to Jackson
as time goes on I feel like the whole way that Rob Lowe is with his son is like a lot
of parents especially dads to their kids who don't really know how to talk to them and

(20:43):
they're trying to do their best self while making them feel bad and I think that it's
a backfiring thing I think it could be a good lesson for all kids and parents I don't know
much more to say but I do know that there's a lot more episodes I wish that could happen
than just eight because eight episodes is really sad in my mind I hate that Netflix does this

(21:10):
I don't really want parts so I don't but if it gets a season three excuse me I am practicing
my card shuffling I am really bad at it and I have a blood blister so that's separately
but that's something that like I could see them doing a lot of those like card trick
things in the future like Ellis trying to brainstorm something and then he's like hey

(21:35):
do you know these card tricks you know these how to shuffle like I would love it if they
did like exploring of oh Jackson doesn't know how to shuffle correctly and he's like didn't
I teach you your scientist this and that so I just think there's a lot of opportunities
here I really hope it does get a season three especially because even though we can all

(21:57):
be mad at you know how the way that these shows and companies appear and that it's
maybe not as accurate as in real life we can appreciate like their work that might get
people more involved into trying to find ways to do things like in the biotech atmosphere
because honestly the whole like way that they did there I don't want to give too many spoilers

(22:23):
but by the end with RoboRoo I freaking loved her I think that the way that the battery
so we're operating were great and I really hope that there can be something similar
to that in the future not just something that's shown on TV because that's another thing
that kind of bugs me about shows is like again I've mentioned this in the past but Grey's

(22:46):
Anatomy doing their whole thing about Parkinson's finding a cure for Parkinson's trying to find
a cure for all of them are trying to find a cure for diabetes all these kind of things
and like they come up with these new ideas etc but it's not like how close are we in
the world or how can we afford this like it's just not seeming quite as achievable or you

(23:10):
know accurate so that was kind of where my brains started to go because especially with
the ooh this is so fun to play but like could this actually happen in real life is this
close enough to happening I don't know and I just start to wonder how accurate it is

(23:31):
instead of just being a typical moment of oh this is a fun idea to play off of you know
so there's my thought process on it all I mean could I say more yes should I say more

(23:52):
probably not and I am going to end this episode on a fun note of that you know I can at least
shuffle a few different ways the waterfall is hard but you know what that's right as
well you just keep moving forward you keep practicing and I know people are gonna say

(24:16):
this is so off topic but I think this is pretty on topic with me when I go popcorning
all over the place about different topics yes I could get more into the politics and
how I think and am disappointed in certain situations and you know not seeing how seriously

(24:39):
things are being taken by you know Kamala and Tim the problem is that it's hard to no
matter how many things you sign no matter how many things you reach to just how but
I'm gonna say this again do I want to do I want to probably vote third party probably
is it is it so very much a thing no do I want to be very proud to vote for a woman yes and

(25:12):
I'm definitely like some of the things that she stands for 100% but is everything not
great yeah especially when you're talking about the situations going on around the world
like Palestine Congo Sudan you know there's a never ending listen yes I'd like for her

(25:37):
to be willing to change my mind more instead of having to just you know vote it's one of
those things where it's like trying to earn my vote versus you know just paying the whole
okay this is the best option again the way that our brains and our society are set up

(25:59):
it's just a lot and I love that you know people are challenging it especially when Gen Z and
you know millennials have opportunities to and to be able to speak more freely yes are
people gonna judge you 100% but you know what it's it's 2024 guys like there's so much stuff

(26:21):
that isn't working right now and again anytime that I try to do anything on tiktok whether
it be a trying to support an artist that will send all its money its way to a family in
need of one of those many places no tiktok suppresses it because they want tiktok shop
to be around or if you talk negatively about a certain person then you get blocked so I

(26:46):
just want to say that some of us as we wrap up here that some of us are really struggling
right now but that's alright because at least we're unlearning a lot of things and yeah
that is a lot of the self reflection I've had this week here at Gen Z GAB and I think

(27:11):
that you know it's the important things like of wow when you're sick you have a lot of
time on your hands and your brain starts to go in many directions and you start talking
to yourself also I saw something from a clip from the unwax podcast that I find myself doing
a lot lately too and that's replaying all the things that I've said and that there was

(27:33):
apparently a Harvard study or Yale study where they locked all these men and women in a room
for over an hour and the men thought about just you know typical sports and life things
whereas the girls went through everything in their mind that happened and that's just
where you know if you're a parent and you think gentle parenting is not going to work

(27:56):
just so you know sometimes it's like the or just a critical person in general that's
where your brain goes after a while and then it just shows women the reason we don't forget
is and oh we're more sensitive well no it's just that now a lot of us are doing the work
to relearn and unlearn the toxic cycles of our world and as I mentioned that earlier

(28:22):
with Elking I'm very proud of the work that she did so there you have it so grateful for
anyone who listened to this all the way through the good the bad the ugly you know in 78 episodes
it can get to be a lot but I'm grateful for each and every one of you that listens I know

(28:43):
I say that every week but it's true because I think that you know you get burnt out you
get to a point where is it worth it and you know what when I'm not doing this it's nice
to you know have breaks but it's also just a way to keep going and keep your creativity
alive so obviously I don't see myself signing off anytime soon so yeah let me know though

(29:14):
if you are an active listener comment below subscribe I guess that's just something people
say these days and like follow over at Gen Z GAB on Insta and we will see you soon.
