A beautiful lady deliberately drops a card on his table at the Folies Bergeres with some writing on it in French. As he does not speak the language, he asks his hotel manager to translate. On reading the card, the manager immediately throws him out of the hotel. At the next hotel, the same thing happens. An old friend reacts just as badly and, like the previous two, refuses to explain what is on the card. He decides to hire a detective agency, but immediately he is arrested and imprisoned. But this is only the beginning of his woes. When he is released, he returns to his wife and shows her the card....
