Jesse Heffernan is a Recovery Coach & consultant with long-term substance use and mental health recovery. He lives in WI with his wife and 4 children, enjoying all things in geek culture, disc golf, and coffee. It is his belief that Recovery is a process of moving from surviving to thriving as a whole person.
He has had the privilege as a person in recovery to serve on several coalitions and grassroots nonprofits as an advocate for the implementation of a culturally intelligent, recovery-oriented continuum of care.
Angela Mallette is the Executive Director at Mississippi Harm Reduction Initiative. The Mississippi harm reduction initiative is a grassroots organization providing harm reduction programs to Mississippi's impacted by drug use.
The Mississippi arm reduction initiative helps people with addiction issues put the pieces of their lives back together one step at a time one person at a time.
Wherever they are on that journey, whether it's day one, or five years they do not judge, they do not turn people away, they help. Period

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage
Rewarded for bravery that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the Medal of Honor is the United States’ top military decoration. The stories we tell are about the heroes who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism and courage that have saved lives. From Judith Resnik, the second woman in space, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice, these are stories about those who have done the improbable and unexpected, who have sacrificed something in the name of something much bigger than themselves. Every Wednesday on Medal of Honor, uncover what their experiences tell us about the nature of sacrifice, why people put their lives in danger for others, and what happens after you’ve become a hero. Special thanks to series creator Dan McGinn, to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Adam Plumpton. Medal of Honor begins on May 28.
