Gap and wife of Colton McAbee, who was convicted and imprisoned on for his actions on January 6 th –
despite never entering the capital. Sarah tells his story, explains how her life changed after her
husband’s arrest, and more.
Colton McAbee was a police officer before January 6 th . He went to the protest after being invited by a
friend and did his best to help individuals who were hurt among the chaos. Despite never entering the
capital and attempting to save lives, Colton was convicted and imprisoned – leaving Sarah unable to
reach her husband and without his income, eventually losing her house.
Learn about the conditions Colton faced in prison, the shockingly high conviction rates of January 6 th
protestors, and why Sarah McAbee believes that her husband is being used as an example, among many
other examples, to discourage resistance in the future.
After finding that organizations like ACLU would not support her husband and others in his position,
Sarah started her nonprofit Stand In The Gap to raise legal funds for individuals being persecuted by the
federal government for similar actions.
