The promoter.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Hello, my friends, it
is so good to be with you today
.
Have you had your conversationswith Jesus over the past few
days?
You know that time where youjust open up your heart, your
concerns, your worries, yourfears.
Maybe you share your successes, praying for someone.
Maybe you say, well, ron, Idon't even know Jesus, or we're
not that close because I'm justa goofball.
(00:43):
Well, all of us are goofballs.
There's no person out therethat isn't a goofball, that
doesn't struggle.
But it is those healthyconversations with Jesus I mean
opening up your heart that areliberating.
Now, if you're new to the show,my name is Ron Myers.
The show is called Get the HellOut of your Life, where it's
about a few minutes of comingtogether each week in a show
(01:04):
with guests, with commentary, toempower you, to encourage you
and to let you know that, nomatter what you're going through
in life, there is a reason forit and there is a good plan.
Today I want to talk aboutdreaming big.
How many dreams have you put onhold?
How many God-given dreams doyou think are absolutely
(01:26):
impossible?
Well, they are impossiblewithout God.
So today we're going to tellyou my guest, candy
Anderson-Ferris, who is aspeaker, author and writer and
an encourager.
We're going to talk about howdo we go from where we are to
living the dreams that God hasfor each of us.
(01:46):
Right now, there are a lot ofpeople out there with questions,
but they're not getting theanswers, or maybe the right
answers.
You know, god has an answer forall of our questions and his
word never changes.
His word never changes One ofthe things that in putting
together today's show it's asong that we played years ago on
the radio and it really had aneffect on me in the early days
(02:07):
of my ministry.
In putting together today'sshow, it's a song that we played
years ago on the radio and itreally had an effect on me in
the early days of my ministry isby the Martins Dream Big, and I
really do believe thatChristians sometimes just think
they're on autopilot, that wehave a sovereign God and God's
just going to connect all thedots.
All we have to do is sit backand let him move us.
But we have to dream, we haveto have visions, we have to move
(02:28):
forward, don't we?
Speaker 3 (02:29):
It says in Scripture
in him we live and move and have
our being so that we have partin that.
We have to do the moving, andit's work like everything
depends on you, but pray likeeverything depends on God.
And so I do believe that we canbecome very stagnant in the
visions that God has given us,and his calling, his gifts and
(02:52):
calling are irrevocable.
What he puts inside of us willalways be there.
It's just our part to, asscripture says, prepare the
horse for the battle, and thevictory is the Lord's.
So we have to do something, andif we're faithful over little,
he will make us faithful overmuch.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
I love to tell people
dream so big, set your goal so
high for your business, for yourministry, for your
relationships that you will failwithout God's intervention.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Right and he gets all
the glory, then that's right.
He's not a pocket-sized God.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
But because you and I
, we can accomplish small size
goals.
We can do that.
We then take credit for it.
Well, I did this and I did that.
But if our goals and our ideasand our dreams are so big that
only God can make them happen, then you're right.
Not only do we become dependenton God, but then we become a
promoter for God because of hisgoodness and mercy and his Our
(03:49):
testimony, our testimony.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
I like that.
It becomes our testimony andthere's always a test in the
testimony, and so we sometimesgive up.
When it gets grueling or itgets hard and we see the doors
shut, we just quit, we quit andwe can't.
We have to continue on, becauseevery season of our life our
calling looks different.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Let me ask you, Candy
, you've been around the block a
few times.
Have you ever wanted to justquit?
Speaker 3 (04:17):
Sure, I just sit on
the back porch and put my feet
up and quit.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
yes, why didn't you?
Speaker 3 (04:23):
Because I can't.
He tells us we're up and quit.
Yes, why didn't you?
Because I can't.
He tells us we're never to quit, we're to persevere and
continue on to the end, until hecalls us home.
And that's when we enter in andhe says well done, my good and
faithful servant.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Sometimes I wonder
about doing these broadcasts,
how long I'll do them?
And I'm thinking well, you know, maybe I had to slow down, but
there's something in me.
I just I can't, I just can't.
I feel that if God has calledyou and I and everybody out
there listening if God hascalled us to do something, then
we need to do everything we canto complete that journey, even
(04:59):
if sometimes we think, well, maybe I don't need to do this or
maybe I can take the comfortarea and just sit back and relax
and drink some iced tea orlemonade on the back porch.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
But I think there are
seasons for that.
Are there there are, there areseasons for growing that back
porch.
I have learned a whole lot onmy back porch.
I've prayed a lot and it seemsmy calling in life is, I believe
God has called me to encourageand to build the body up to love
on people and care for them.
And so physically maybe heslowed me down a little bit for
(05:33):
a couple of years and I sat onthe back porch.
But during that time my prayerlife grew, my time in scripture
grew and prepared me for thenext stage of what's going on.
You never, ever, quit.
You do and you deal with whereyou're at.
(05:53):
And I'm telling you he'll useit.
There's a story about a lady whowas confined to bed and she
could do nothing I mean nothingexcept maybe receive phone calls
.
So she got a phone call one dayand it was the wrong number,
but she continued to talk to thefellow and as she talked to him
he was going to commit suicideand God had had him call her and
(06:15):
she talked to him and theybegan.
She began to disciple him onthe phone.
So we never know how we'regoing to be used or in what way,
but our calling is to listen tohim and he places on our heart
the gifts he has given us to use.
Does that make sense?
Speaker 2 (06:35):
It does, and I think
about taking care of my father
in the nursing home a few yearsago, and I got to meet a lot of
individuals that started aministry because they had a
loved one in a nursing home afew years ago.
And I got to meet a lot ofindividuals that started a
ministry because they had aloved one in a nursing home and
the loved one passed.
But they saw the joy that theirsmile, their love could give
(06:57):
another patient.
So they continually went upthere In little things like that
sometimes what God wants us todo.
It isn't big, we may never readabout it in the paper and may
never make the news, but it'sfront headlines with God.
It's huge in his economy, hugein his economy.
It is so if somebody said, candy, I'm just bored with life, I'm
(07:22):
not having any fun, I've doneall the things I've wanted to do
and I do crossword puzzlesevery day.
I'm just bored.
Any suggestions for that personGetting the word?
Speaker 3 (07:33):
It's a living word
and, and, and I believe, every
experience that we go through.
If we ask God to show himselfin those experiences, life
becomes exciting again.
There are going to be dry times.
There just are, there are, there are deserts, our belief in
(07:57):
the facts of Scripture, not thefeeling of Scripture, not the
feeling of euphoria or all ofthat, because it's in the dry
times, in the valleys, that wereally, really, really connect
with.
Am I going to stick this out?
Am I going to stick it out?
(08:17):
And we've got to stick it outbecause we can keep.
There's a scripture that saysquit circling this mountain and
head north.
We can circle and circle andcircle about what am I supposed
to be doing?
Instead of putting one footforward and heading north, we
plow the row that we were madeto plow and that comes in
different ways for me,encouraging.
(08:37):
Write a letter to somebody, pray for them, call them.
When God puts someone on yourheart, do it.
You get to see the excitementof what that little, one piece
of obedience, and that's what itall comes down to.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
That's really.
That's that's a good way to putit.
It really does come down tothat one word obedience.
You know, if we turn over ourday to God and say, god, inspire
me with what to do today, giveme an idea.
Well, we may be mowing, we maybe at the gym, we'd be walking,
we may be reading the Bible, andall of a sudden it's happened
to me we get this incredibleidea it's a God idea it's a God
(09:14):
idea and all of a sudden, we getexcited and we you know we
start smiling and say this iswhat I'm going to do.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
One of my really hard
times was in my family years
ago.
I was probably the seriousperson in my family and you know
my family is not serious.
My late husband was crazy andhappy and all of this A
practical joker.
It was always something.
So years ago I wrote thisPractical joker, it was always
something.
So years ago I wrote thisSearch my heart, o Lord.
Make my heart and hands aninstrument of your will.
Take all of this craziness inmy life and use it to preach for
your glory, amen.
(09:52):
And I wrote that I could writethese things and that I could
speak them and use the examplesof everyday life to show God in
everything that that'll preachmoments and radio for 15 years
and you know, writing, writingin the paper for longer than 15
years, and books and and justgetting to speak at different
(10:15):
places.
It just all of a sudden openedup because I was willing to take
maybe where I was notcomfortable and see the glory in
it and the good in it and thejoy in it and where he placed me
and let him use me, amen.
Maybe you are in the middle of amess right now.
Well, who better to know how topray for somebody in the same
(10:39):
mess?
You can do that and maybeyou're the answer.
Like you said, in a nursinghome there's people that need
people to come alongside themand love on them.
Use that.
Wherever you're at, you've gota circumstance that God will
turn in to use for his glory.
We always have a job to do andalways my prayer is this the
(11:01):
older I get, lord, please don'tlet me ever forget scripture.
If I'm going to lose everythingelse, let me remember scripture
and be able to, when somebodycomes in the room, be able to
share that scripture, to liftthem up and build them up.
Otherwise, everything else cango.
I mean, I would love foreverything to say cognizant and
aware and all that, but if itdoesn't, then, lord, use what
(11:23):
I've got for where I'm at.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
And sometimes we've
all heard that expression Candy,
stop and smell the roses, absolutely Quit looking forward
to tomorrow, just start lookingforward to today.
You live in the present.
When we take advantage of themoment we have right now, today,
tomorrow will take care ofitself Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
I love the story of I
think it was UPS guy.
Whoever has the brown truck, isit UPS?
Speaker 4 (11:51):
UPS, ups.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
Well, he was driving
to work one morning and he saw a
car go into a lake and herushed to that car and pulled
out an elderly gentleman andthey were trying to make him a
hero on the news and everythinglike that.
And he just said that was mycalling for today.
And ever since I heard thatstory that's been my prayer.
Lord, show me what my callingis for today.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
That'd be a good
challenge right now for the
people.
Listening is set a challengeeach day.
Right now, for the people, listening is set a challenge
each day.
Maybe it's just to smile, tohold a door open for someone, to
do a favor for someone, or justencourage someone.
Everybody needs encouragement.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
And it's the same way
in our faith.
We have to practice our faithand we have to continue, as we
said before walk in obedience, know what God says and then
follow in his steps and followhis example.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
Failures.
None of us like to fail, noneof us like to have setbacks, but
that's how we grow to where Godneeds us to be is through those
failures.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
And that's what I
love about Scripture is all
through Scripture.
It is not a group of men andwomen who are always the best.
There are a bunch of mess-upson there.
I mean, you look at David, youlook at Peter, you look at so
many in Scripture.
They're real people who fail, but yet God takes that failure
(13:19):
and grows him.
Look at Peter he became one ofthe greatest preachers and
builders of church.
Upon this rock I will build mychurch.
But he failed.
But God didn't give.
He'll never give up on us.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
God uses all people
of all shapes and sizes, and
we're never going to be thatperfect person.
So why do we keep trying to beperfect?
Just be ourself and go out anddo the right thing, and God will
take care of the rest.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
You can't look on
social media and try to be
somebody else.
If you try to be somebody else, then God, the place God has for
you is being vacated.
You have to do what God calledyou to do, not what another
person is called to do.
The toe, the hand, the foot, itall works together and fits
together and it's very importantthat we don't try to be
(14:06):
something else.
And he takes my thing is hetakes the foolish things to
confound the wise and I'm prettyfoolish sometimes and he takes
the weak things.
When we admit our weakness andgive it to him, it becomes a
strength, because he's strong inus.
The Holy Spirit moves in us tostrengthen, to teach, to guide
and to convict us.
It's not of ourselves thatanything good happens.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
We will never find
our God-given destiny on our own
.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
Only God can give it
to us, he draws us and only he
gives it to us, and so I tellpeople why waste any more time?
Speaker 2 (14:41):
Why not pursue God
with all your heart, mind and
soul today and understand reallywhat you were created for?
What is that?
One assignment Remember thatshow Touched by an Angel Right.
And I tell people you've got anassignment that God wants you
to complete before you leavethis world.
I can't tell you what yourassignment is, but God can tell
(15:01):
you what that assignment is.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
Right.
So many times we go trying tochange things.
The only person that we canchange is ourselves, and God is
going to use you, because youwere perfectly made in his image
for such a time as this, forhis goodwill and his good
pleasure.
So I think that we get guiltyand we stop, or we get thinking
(15:24):
we're not good enough, or wecan't Look.
It's not about you, it's aboutGod.
My thing is, I keep a littledonkey that sits where I can see
it all the time.
I wake up and I see that donkeyand it means if God can speak
through a donkey, he can speakthrough you, and that's what I
believe.
There's nothing about me that'sany good.
It's only Christ in us and hepromises he will never leave us
(15:49):
and he will never forsake us andhe will always use every
fragment.
This is a scripture that hegave me in John 6, you know,
after he feeds the 5,000.
This is a scripture that he gaveme in John 6, you know, after
he feeds the 5,000.
He tells the disciples to gopick up every fragment that none
be lost.
Sometimes you feel like yourworld is shattered and it's just
(16:11):
in fragments.
Well, you pick up thosefragments and you give them to
the Lord and nothing will belost.
He'll use every single part ofeverything you've gone through
for his honor, for his glory andfor others.
You we comfort with the comfortby which we've been comforted
and in that becomes a purposeand a calling and a plan.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
What Jesus said.
You know, come to me all youthat are weary and tired, and he
came to give us an abundantlife.
That's true, it's true.
He did, he what?
Speaker 3 (16:43):
Jesus said is true,
and it came, that our joy might
be full.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Joy.
Yes, exactly so if we startbelieving what God says has
truth, if we start believingthis, it changes our thinking.
And we change our thinking, itchanges the circumstances in our
life.
Because when we can sayconfidently God knows my
troubles, he knows my sorrowsand he is with me while I go
(17:07):
through this, that's what wehave to know.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
Scripture that's what
you have to.
You have to hang on to it.
My family right now is readingthrough 1 John for every day of
the month and it's really kindof cool because those things are
popping up in our lives andwe're using them.
And in the first part of 1 Johnhe says John says, handle me,
these are the things that wehave handled.
(17:29):
And Christ, when he came backafter the resurrection, he says
handle me.
And that's what we need to do.
We have to handle the word ofGod and it will never fail.
He just doesn't fail.
Like you said, his reputationis solid.
So we can handle him and knowthat he will provide our needs
according to his riches andglory that he will.
(17:51):
He's given us every promisethat we need to live this life.
So if he's done that, thenlet's live like it, let's live
like it.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Yeah, don't worry
about all the things that are
going on out there, friends.
God sees, he knows what's goingon, he sees this world, he
created it he created it heknows the end from the beginning
and he wins, but he alsocreated you and I to be a part
of the solution today, and notone that sit back and points
(18:22):
fingers at people.
Don't point fingers Now.
Let's go out there and be busyand do what God has called each
of us to do.
And guess what?
We start making a difference, first in our family, then our
community, our church, and itspreads.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
Jesus is a part of us
and if you are a believer,
you're going to look and actdifferent and every place you go
, whether it's in your business,or if you're a teacher or a
parent or whatever Jesus isgoing to be in the fabric of who
you are and we shouldn't justsay, oh, let somebody else
handle politics or let somebodyelse be on the radio or let
(18:57):
somebody else that's how I gotto write in the paper was we
just said there should be morethings about good news of Christ
, the good news of the gospeland man.
God opened the door for thatbecause you have to step up and
Be who you are in Christ, wherever you are.
(19:17):
You don't leave him at homewhen you go in the workplace.
You don't leave him home at themarketplace.
You don't leave him at home inpolitics.
He is a part of the fabric ofwho we are and, like you said,
we can't go out and change thewhole world, but we can change
first ourselves and then ourhome and then it moves out from
(19:37):
there.
I look at the legacy that weleave in our children and my
prayer has always been that mychildren stand on my shoulders
spiritually.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
Well, always so good.
I can't believe time flies whenyou come by so fast that we're
out of time.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
One thing quick
prayer for our listeners.
Father, I just thank you foreach person that is listening
and has their ear tuned to this, because, god, you called us to
be together today for such atime as this.
If someone's hurting, ifthey're stumped, if they're just
stopped, if they're feelingguilty, lord, just move in their
(20:14):
hearts to know that you seewhere they're at.
And Lord, just fan into flamesthe gifts that are within us and
help us never to stop movingforward.
Help us to repent of the thingsthat we don't have right and
turn.
Lord, change and move towardsyou and stay in your word and
(20:34):
just love you and love others,as your command says.
We thank you, father, for today.
In Jesus' name, we pray, amen.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
Today's story of
empowerment is entitled Fearful
Francis and the Island ofRegrets.
Is entitled Fearful Francis andthe Island of Regrets.
Once upon a time on the Islandof Regrets there lived a young
boy named Fearful Francis.
As the youngest of eightchildren, he was constantly told
by his elders about theimportance of caution in
(22:33):
maintaining the status quo.
Now the island was home tothree peculiar villages should
have, would have and could havewhere people constantly
contemplated past decisions andmissed opportunities.
Now Francis was unlike anyother child on the island.
His loud and outspoken natureoften got him into trouble.
Yet it also made him questionwhy everyone seems so afraid to
(22:59):
take chances.
Why do we never try to dothings differently, francis
would ask.
He wondered why peoplehesitated to dream big or
explore new paths and started tosee the fear holding everyone
back.
One evening, after listening toyet another story of, if Only
(23:22):
from the elders, francisdeclared this year it's time for
a new beginning.
To him, it was clear thatliving in fear was wasting the
gift of life.
He inspired others with hisenthusiasm to confront fears and
seek the true potential withinthemselves.
Encouraging the villagers, francis preached about putting
(23:47):
their faith in God.
He has a plan for each of us,francis would say.
And if we're afraid, we willnever grow and become who we are
truly meant to become.
Never grow and become who weare truly meant to become.
He rallied his friends andfamily to overcome their fears
and trust in a brighter future, believing that their talents,
(24:09):
skills and abilities could shineif only they would allow
themselves the freedom to actthe freedom to act.
Gradually, the people began tolisten.
Inspired by Francis's courage, families started moving to the
communities of hope, peace, purpose and passion.
Now, these villages thrived ondreams and ambitions, where
(24:37):
people supported one another intheir pursuits and offered
encouragement at every step.
Francis had sparked a movementthat brought the island closer
together.
In the pursuit of their dreamsand fulfillment, they discovered
something magical the fountainof youth, a metaphorical
wellspring within each of themthat burst forth when they
(25:01):
embraced courage and left behindregrets.
Their newfound vitality and joyproved infectious, turning the
island of regrets into an islandof promise.
So what is the moral of mystory?
The moral is fearful.
(25:22):
Francis's journey teaches usthat fear and the unknown can
prevent us from experiencing thefullness of life.
We must confront our fears andopen ourselves up to
possibilities.
By trusting in God's plan andboldly pursuing our dreams, we
(25:44):
not only unlock our truepotential, but also inspire
others to do the same, transforming our world into a
place of hope and endlessopportunities.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
Ron, we'll be back in
a moment to wrap up today's
conversation.
We want to encourage you todaywith God's promise to you.
It comes from the book ofJeremiah, chapter 29, verse 11.
For I know the plans I have foryou, declares the Lord.
Plans to prosper you and not toharm you.
Plans to give you hope and thefuture.
(26:25):
That's God's promise to youwhen you choose to commit your
plans and future to him.
Now back to Ron.
Speaker 2 (26:36):
Well, friends, my
time is up and I want to
encourage you to pursue thedreams, the ideas, the plan that
God has just for you.
Discover that fountain of youth, of excitement, of power, of
purpose and passion inside youwhen you become who you were
designed to become.
