What if the breakthrough you’ve been begging for arrives the moment you stop forcing it? We sit down with Rich, whose life swerved from a ladder fall and homelessness to a nationwide small business and a faith that feels lived-in, not performed. His turning point wasn’t a perfect plan—it was a stranger’s gas money, twenty-eight days of relentless work, and a decision to open his heart and let God lead. The result: Simple Salsa in all 50 states, a marriage forged in grit, and a sales booth that doubles as a confessional where people find a listener, a prayer, and sometimes a path forward.

Along the way, we explore a deeper identity—one anchored in the new covenant and sealed by the Holy Spirit. We talk about the quiet practice that changed everything: coffee with Jesus. Not ritual for its own sake, but honest, daily conversation that steadies your mind, restores your courage, and reminds you that salvation isn’t fragile. If you’ve been wearing joy on the surface while breaking inside, you’ll hear practical wisdom about taking the first step, practicing patience, and recognizing the right door when it opens. We touch the hard truths—shame, detours, timelines that stretch—and show how grace threads them together into a story you can stand on.

You’ll also hear why relationships outrun transactions in business and life, how to reframe work so it fuels rather than drains you, and what a personal pep talk from Jesus might sound like when you need it most. This is hope with calluses: humble, persistent, and ready to serve. If the noise in your life has been drowning out direction, consider this your cue to slow down, ask for help, and let peace lead the way.

If this resonated, follow the show, share it with a friend who needs courage today, and leave a review so more people can find stories of real struggles and real hope.

Hello, my friends.
It is so good to be with youtoday.
I love this autumn weather.
Cool, low humidity, and when Ihave my coffee with Jesus early
in the morning, I seem to bemore fired up than ever.
Because in that moment, everything is just perfect.
Hi, I'm Ron Myers.

(00:44):
I'm your host.
The show is called Get the HellOut of Your Life.
Real stories of God'sfaithfulness.
Friends, we all need aspiritual charge each day.
We all need encouragement andhope when we feel hopeless.
And we all seek to be at thetop of our game.

(01:04):
We want to be the best and wewant to show our best, whether
work, play, or ourrelationships.
We clothe ourselves with joy, happiness, and peace.
But truth be told, our livesare in pieces.
Broken, hopeless, uncertainty.
And what is this all about?

(01:25):
Do you think that?
Is there a God?
Why am I feeling like this?
I go to church.
I was raised in a family thatbelieved in God.
Friends, when we are willing tostep back from our peak
performance and take time forreflection, we can reconnect
ourselves with God.
And during these moments, hehelps us uncover layers of our

(01:49):
identity, revealing insightsabout ourselves that we may have
forgot that we forgot.
I will discuss this topic a bitlater in the show, but first,
let me introduce you to myguest, Rich Camp.
He was truly at the lowestpoint in his life, and he and
his wife, well, they were brokewith only a couple of dollars to

(02:12):
their name and no cleardirection on what to do next.
However, that's when God openeda door for him.
I met Rich a few years ago atmy Christmas City gift show,
where he was and still is anexhibitor.
He and his wife Julie run abusiness called Simple Salsa,
and his story is one ofencouragement and inspiration.

(02:35):
Let's dive into Rich's story.
Hello, Rich.
So glad to have you here.

Rich Kemp (02:51):
And if they could just, in their own mind and
heart, you know, just turn theirheart over to God and let him
lead them.
He'll give them the strengthand the will and the
perseverance to get through allof this.
I know it's very difficult, butthey've got to have that faith.
Who is Rich Kemp?
Well, I was actually, I'm fromoriginally from Tuscaloosa,
Alabama.
My family moved to Houstonwhere I was raised from the time

(03:11):
I was a year old.
And grew up in Houston, leftHouston after I graduated high
school, moved to a smallcommunity.
I just didn't want the big citylife anymore.
And through all my ventures inlife, God led me to Colorado.
I lived up there for over tenyears, loved it, started a
construction company, did very,very well.
That was my passion.

(03:32):
And then I, of course, I felloff a ladder and hurt myself, so
I guess where I couldn't dothat anymore.
And through different venturesthat I was led to, here we wound
up making different spicesblends and and dips and chili
and salsa, and this is whatwe're doing now.
So I I just firmly believe thatthis is where we're supposed to
be, this is where God led usto, and never look back.

(03:54):
God is a foundation, just likea home foundation.
Without Him, you're not gonnahave any type of really solid
structure in your life.
And through some of the thingsthat happened to me a few years
back, it really got me to whereI had to really open my heart
even more and let him lead me.
It was a very difficult thingfor me because even though I've

(04:15):
been a Christian since I was inmy early teens, being a
Christian and really letting Godin your life and letting him
lead you are two differentthings.
And it's something that that Ihad to learn, but but once I
opened my heart, I'm tellingyou, it's it's the greatest
thing in the world.
I think the the biggest thingwas I was we were both at a

(04:36):
point, and I had to commend mywife, she had just been a rock
to this whole thing.
But we were both at a pointthat I was just about ready to
give up.
I'm not the type of person thatsits back and says, I don't
know what to do.
But that was where I was at.
I didn't know what to doanymore.
And it was just through thegrace of God that we were
contacted by someone that offersa job for a month out on the

(04:58):
West Coast, and we didn't havethe money to get there.
We have never met these people.
I knew the person's brother, they actually sent us over $300
in gas money and everything toget out there to work, and went
to work for them selling aproduct for 28 straight days,
made over $12,000 profit and therest of history.

(05:19):
Wow.
And you know, and then Godturned around and led us to
different locations anddifferent people throughout this
period of time after this.
It was really when you and Ifirst got out there, and people
don't believe the stories oftelling us, but we were sitting
in the motel room at night, which the company furnished for
us, we had one dollar each toour name.

(05:41):
One dollar each.
We had no bank account, we hadbills new.
I mean, we were at our wit'send.
And it was just we just satback and said, Lord, help us.
We you brought us here, helpus.
And we just went in and did it,and the rest of history.
I really think that a lot ofpeople, and even me at times,
you know, you think, okay, youknow, you're a Christian now,

(06:02):
and all these doors are gonnaopen up, you know, the Lord's
gonna just give you stuff.
That's not the way it works.
That's just not the way itworks.
Well, with me, I've always whenI was younger, I had a lot of
inner strength.
And through this hard time thatwe went through, it was beating
me down so bad that I mean Iwas at my wits and didn't know
what to do.
I've never been in thisposition before.

(06:23):
I was ashamed, I felt guilty, you know, blaming myself for
everything else.
And when everything startedturning around, I felt that
inner strength coming back.
I felt that determinationcoming back.
You know, he gave me the willto get up every day.
The thing that I tell peopleall the time is you have to take
the first step and you have tohave faith.

(06:44):
And they look at me and go,Well, I can't.
Well, see, you you can't saythat because if it's something
you want bad enough.
When you get up in the morningand you go to work and you dread
going to work, that works onyou emotionally, it works on you
spiritually.
It it can tear you down.
If you get up in the morningand what you do for a living is

(07:05):
something that you don'tconsider a job that you love.
Let me tell you, I I am soblessed.
People don't have a clue.

Rick Kemp (07:12):
I am so blessed to do what I do.
And today you've been doingsimple sauce and what now, Rich,
about eight, nine years?
Uh going on eleven, right?

Rich Kemp (07:21):
And you go all over the United States.
We do.
We travel, we've gone as far asSouth Dakota, North Carolina,
South Carolina, Georgia.
We have distributors that sellfor us in in various states, but
we actually did the uh CowboyChristmas show years ago out in
Vegas, and that one show widenedour online sales to where we

(07:42):
are now in all 50 states in theUnited States.
It was such a blessing becausewhen we started this, my goal
was within three years to be inall 50 states.
Well, it took us about sevenyears.
But you know what?
That's God's timeline, that'sfine.
But we ship all over thecountry.
We ship to people we've nevermet, never been in that area,

(08:03):
and it's word of mouth, and Ithink a lot of it just stems
from the fact that we have agood product.
We offer good pricing.
So I think there's a lot of alot of things there.
I I've always been a firmbeliever, and sometimes I get a
little long-winded in the booth.
Customers to me are not justdollar songs.
I've gotten a lot of customersthat we have built a very good

(08:24):
relationship.
We'll sit down and call eachother, talk on the phone, we'll
go out to have dinner, we'll goto that town, and so forth.
That's the one thing that Ireally strive for, is because
business is fine, but I alsolike to talk to people, get to
know people.
And I'll tell you, Ryan, it'sreally funny, and this is
something that that a lot ofpeople, my wife always tells me,
she said, You should have beena therapist.

(08:45):
I will have people come up tomy booth and they'll sit there
and talk to me, and I'll get totalking to them, and they'll
just open up and tell me theirdeepest, darkest secrets, their
life story.
And people go, Why do you standthere and just talk to
somebody?
So I said, Listen, they needsomebody to talk to.
Amen.

(09:05):
This person needs someone toopen up to.
And I said, and by doing that, maybe I can lead them to the
Lord.

Rick Kemp (09:12):
So if that person came up to your booth, what
would you tell that person?

Rich Kemp (09:18):
I would tell them to open their heart to Jesus.
I would tell them to give in,to ask for help, to be humble.
Don't don't be so bull-headedand strong-headed, you think you
can do it yourself, but I'mtelling you for a fact, you
cannot.
You have to have the Lordguiding you.
But I would also tell them youalso have to have patience.
God is going to put you in theright spot at the right time.

(09:41):
Don't force it.
The hardest thing isindividuals, and it was for me
too, is to let go.
I think that's the hardestthing being mortalist is to let
go.
And and I still struggle withthat today.
I mean, it's you know, it'sit's a daily thing that I'm
okay.
I can't do that.
I've got to let Lord go andwhat to do.

(10:02):
But the thing I would reallystress to people, number one, is
you've got to open your heartto God.
You've got to accept the LordJesus Christ for Savior.
Number two is you have to havepatience and be willing to let
Him guide you.
If you do that, everything willfall into place.
And we don't know what the planis.
Sometimes you sit back and yougo, you know, Lord, what's my

(10:23):
plan?
What do you have in plan forme?
And the hardest thing is notknowing, but when the time is
right, he's gonna place you inthe right place, right time, the
right people.
He's gonna give you theknowledge, he's gonna give you
the wisdom, he's gonna teach youthe research, he's gonna He's
gonna open up so many doors, andthat's what he did for me.
Ron, I'll tell you, when I wasa young man in my late teens and
early twenties, I was I was asorry individual.

(10:47):
I was a liar, I was a cheater,I was a thief.
I wound up getting myself introuble.
I did at least turn around andhave the honor and humble myself
and turn myself in, but I waslooking for five to ten years of
state in the country.
And by the grace of God, Inever spent one second in jail.
The charges were dropped.
That is what changed me.

(11:08):
So I tell people, and Iespecially talk to youth about
this.
It's okay if you make amistake.
Stand up and be accountable forwhat you do.
Number one, and number two, don't make the same mistake.
You know, I did I went tocollege, I was actually in the
medical field back in my late20s.
I was a lab tech and I went tonursing school.

(11:29):
And I got out of that, notbecause I didn't enjoy the
patients, I did enjoy it, but itgot too political.
And so I left the medicalprofession, and that's when I
got into construction and stufflike that.
But but everything that I'vedone in my life was a building
block.
And you know, the Lord hasworked so many ways in my life

(11:52):
that I mean I can sit here andtell you, talk to you for two or
three hours long, to be honestwith you about it.
But in short, it's it's it'sreally started to come around
when I finally gave in andopened up.

Ron Meyers (12:05):
Yeah.

Rich Kemp (12:05):
And and I give praise to the Lord Jesus Christ every
day because 16 years ago, 16years ago, we were homeless.

unknown (12:15):
Okay.

Rich Kemp (12:15):
Living in a tent, $2 to our name.
We got the chance to sell thejewelry cleaner.
The gentleman that owned thatcompany actually helped us get
started doing shows with thatbecause we didn't have really
had the money at the time we gotall of our bills paid.
So we had to rebuy furnitureand everything.
We had sold everything tryingto make things meet.
I mean, we had squat.
And um, so you know, all thisstuff, we were sitting back

(12:38):
going, okay, we can do this, wecan do this.
And it was that inner strengththat the Lord was giving me
every day to get up out of bedand never give up.
Never give up.
And never give up.
Never give up.
Never give up.
Never.
That is the worst thing you cando.

Ron Meyers (12:56):
When I return, I'm going to blow the hell out of
your life.

Ron Meyers (14:38):
Welcome back, listeners.
So here we are at the top ofour game.
Truth be told, we're not reallyhappy.
A lot of us wear joy, happiness, and peace because no
one can know what we arefeeling, and absolutely no one
is going to know what we'regoing through.
So we have to look like we haveour act together.

(15:00):
Sound familiar?
Well, if it does, God hassomething he wants me to tell
you today.
He wants you to know that heloves you.
But you need to take some timeto reflect on your life and have
some intimate conversationswith him.
I believe that's what Godwants.

(15:22):
He wants to begin a regulardialogue with you.
I want to share something thatis very important to me because
I really just got the fullrevelation of this a few months
ago.
The Bible consists of two mainparts the Old Testament and the
New Testament.
The Old Testament primarilyfocuses on the Jews, the

(15:43):
Israelites, who are consideredGod's chosen people.
However, there is an intriguingaspect that took me a few years
to fully grasp.
In the book of Hosea, itstates, I will call a people who
are not my people, my people.
Who is he referring to?

(16:04):
He's referring to me, a Gentileas well as other pagans and
outsiders.
That's right.
The Old Testament was for theIsraelites.
But friends, in God's awesomelove, mercy, and grace, he made
a promise that he would call apeople who are not his people,

(16:27):
us, his people.
Friends, God made a way for youand me to have access to him
through his son Jesus.
And we have something betterthan the Israelites.
They didn't have the HolySpirit.
We have the Holy Spirit.
And when the Holy Spirit comesinto our lives, he seals our

(16:49):
relationship with Jesus.
We can never lose oursalvation.
You know, the breakthrough inmy life was when I started
having my coffee with Jesusevery morning, engaging in
intimate personal conversationswhere I poured out my heart and
I shared with him what I wasworried about.

(17:11):
And you know what he did?
He filled me with hope, encouragement, and inspiration.
I was filled with somethingthat the church could never do
for me.
And I always knew after I hadmy coffee with Jesus that
everything was going to be okay.
Friends, that was my testimonyof how I developed a personal

(17:34):
and intimate relationship withJesus.
It's truly, really, trulyamazing to recognize that
through the new covenant, Godmade a way for us to be his
people.
And he has given us somethingfar greater than what was
available under the oldcovenant, the indwelling of the
Holy Spirit, sealing ourrelationship with Jesus and

(17:58):
assuring us of eternal security.
My experience of having coffeewith Jesus highlights the
essence of what it means to livein the freedom and grace of the
new covenant.
It's not about fulfillingreligious duties or meeting
external expectations, but aboutengaging in a genuine,

(18:21):
heartfelt relationship with God.
The Holy Spirit within us isour comforter and guide for
providing encouragement andinspiration that surpasses any
external ritual or tradition.
A personal connection withJesus allows us to cast our
cares on him, knowing that hecares for us deeply.

(18:44):
It's in these moments of honestconversation and vulnerability
that we experience his peace andassurance, reminding us that we
are never alone and that he isalways with us.
So now, how might a personalpep talk from Jesus sound to

(19:20):
you?
I believe it would soundsomething like this.
Remember, my friend, you aredeeply loved and cherished.
I have given you a new heartand a new spirit, and you are a
new creation in me.
You are not defined by yourpast mistakes or failures, but
by my love and grace.
You are forgiven, cleansed, andnothing can separate you from

(19:42):
my love.
I am always with you, and myspirit lives in you, guiding and
empowering you.
You have everything you needfor life and godliness through
your knowledge of me.
Trust in me, lean not on yourown understanding, for I am your
strength and refuge.
You are complete in me, lackingnothing.

(20:03):
Let my peace rule in yourheart, and let my love flow
through you to others.
You are my beloved child, and Idelight in you.
Walk in the freedom and joythat I have given you, knowing
that I am for you and notagainst you.
Friends, I believe with all myheart that is the pep talk Jesus

(20:25):
would give you.
In fact, he just did.
I pray you received it.

Announcement (20:31):
Some of us are building highways, not with our
hands, but with our hearts.
We're on a journey that doesn'thave an end.
It's a rough road, but we knowthat someday it will be worth
every rugged mile.
Why don't you join us?
We're the Christians.
Now I know you've heard a lotof weird things about us, most
of it not true.
We don't really care.
We just know that we're goingto live forever and we can have

(20:51):
an abundant life along the way.
Jesus is our guide on thisjourney called life, and he said
that he came to give us lifethat goes on forever and an
abundant life.
Hey, it's a total free highway.
Jesus already paved the way.
All we have to do is come onboard.
You don't have to be religious, you don't have to be perfect,
you just have to accept the factthat Jesus already bridged the
way to heaven.
Then you have to put him behindthe wheel.

(21:12):
But when you finally let go andlet Jesus take over, it's
amazing how you find the journeya lot more peaceful because
life without Jesus is kind oflike going four-wheeling on a
skateboard.
Take some time to learn aboutJesus.
You'll find out how he canbuild an eternal highway in your
heart.

Speaker 15 (21:30):
Ron will be back in a moment to wrap up today's
conversation right after a wordfrom our sponsor.

Speaker 10 (22:06):
How do you get the hell out of your life?
Get on your knees and cry outto the Lord.
He hears you right where youare.

Speaker (22:13):
How do you get the hell out of your life?
Well, you replace it withJesus.
We got to be born again, bornof the Spirit, and that's by
trusting Jesus Christ, turningfrom our sins and trusting
Jesus.

Speaker 14 (22:21):
It's a one-step program, and you find out about
this man by the name of Jesuswho went to the cross and gave
his life so that we will havelife more abundantly.
And if you can receive thatlove, he will love that hell out
of you.
How do you get the hell out ofyour life?

Rich Kemp (22:39):
You trust in him and you let him love the hell right
out of you.

Speaker 11 (22:43):
How do you get the hell out of your life?
Oh, gosh.
Jesus.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.
And abide in him.
Yes.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
Turn to Jesus.
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Fatherexcept through him.
