(00:00):
I'm Savannah Harding and this is Getting Better.

(00:18):
Hi I'm Savannah Harding and welcome to Getting Better, a podcast about health and healing.
Whether you suffer from chronic pain, difficult diagnoses, mental or physical hardship, or
you're just looking to advance and enhance your health, welcome to a space that understands

(00:39):
that health and healing is a constant practice and that we are continually getting better.
See what I did there?
I was winking, you couldn't tell.
Okay, I named this podcast after the phrase I had on repeat when others would ask me,
"how are you doing?"
And I would say, "honestly, I'm not good, but I'm getting better."

(01:00):
You see the past few years have been the darkest of my life, figuratively and literally.
Due to multiple eye issues and over 10 eye surgeries and counting, I have chronic pain
and extreme sensitivity to light.
And that pain has kept me in dark rooms with my blackout curtains closed, out of the daylight,

(01:26):
wearing hats inside and sunglasses, almost 24/7, but I'll save my unfinished story
for another time.
But it's my story that brings me here today, talking with you on my rinky dink setup, hoping
you can't hear me swallow or breathe.

(01:49):
If you can't tell, this is my first podcast.
So I want to thank you for being here for the fresh and messy beginning.
In my pain, grief and honestly despair, I was desperate for something, anything to help
me out of that dark and rocky space.
So in the little windows of energy and eyesight that I had, I researched scientifically backed

(02:16):
methods for getting better.
I don't trust information online easily.
And my scientific background does not allow for misinformation.
But I still tried all traditional medicine methods, trending fads.
I saw countless doctors and tried so many medications, but I found things that actually

(02:41):
helped.
And that's what I want to bring to you.
The methods, practices, advice and information that not only help you heal and grow in your
health, but that will impact your life in a way that truly benefits you.
The second piece that I believe is the most important and impactful for anyone's health

(03:05):
and healing, something that's so vital just to life itself is the empathy, advice and
encouragement from others who have gone through hardship themselves.
I'm so excited to share stories of others, testimonies and wisdom because in hurt and

(03:25):
healing, you do not have to go alone.
And sometimes all it takes is someone else to be on the other side or still in the middle
and say, "It's going to be okay.
You're going to make it through this.
It's going to get better," and give you the hope that sometimes you can't find inside

(03:46):
yourself.
So with this podcast, you can expect conversations about why you should cry more, how to navigate
relationships during hardship and heartache, the free toolkit for dealing with stress and
anxiety, how to advocate for yourself in a doctor's office and in real life, then and

(04:07):
others beautiful stories about pain, purpose and individual power.
I hope that from this podcast, you will feel encouraged, inspired and empowered to continually
invest in your health and yourself.
Thank you for being here today.
Oh gosh, I'm sorry.

(04:27):
That was like that sounded really corny.
But it's true.
Okay.
Thank you for being here today.
And I'd love for you to check out the website at gettingbetterpod.com where I am adding
resources, articles and have hidden secret little treats.

(04:49):
I'll be back soon in for the first episode about why you should cry more.
I'll talk with you soon and here's to getting better.
Hey, thanks again for being here.
I'm glad that you're listening in.
I just want to say again that some days I'm not getting better.

(05:11):
I'm getting worse and then getting better again and getting worse and I don't have the
promise or the cure for it all.
Thank you again for listening to the intro for this podcast.
If you would rate, comment, give me some constructive criticism, please be nice.
I'm just really happy to be making this for the people who might not have the energy to

(05:37):
go try a bunch of things and look up a bunch of information.
And so anything that you're interested in, I would love if you leave a comment or go
to the website and add a review or question or input.
Again, I'll see you on the first episode.
Okay, bye.
