This week’s episode discusses abuse against children and people with disabilities. Listener discretion is highly advised.

Behind the iron gates of Pennhurst Asylum lies a nightmare frozen in time. Opened in 1908 as the Eastern State Institution for the Feeble-Minded and Epileptic, Pennhurst was intended to be a place of care—but quickly became a warehouse of suffering. Overcrowded and underfunded, the facility devolved into a house of horrors, where patients were neglected, abused, and silenced. By the 1960s, whistleblowers and shocking exposés revealed the full extent of its atrocities, leading to a landmark lawsuit and eventual closure in 1987.

But Pennhurst’s story didn’t end when the doors were chained shut. In the decades since, the empty halls have become a magnet for paranormal investigators and thrill-seekers. Visitors report ghostly screams, shadowy figures darting through the corridors, and chilling whispers in the dark. Is it trauma echoing through time—or have the restless spirits of Pennhurst’s past refused to leave?

Join us as we explore the asylum’s harrowing history, its legacy of injustice, and the unexplained hauntings that continue to this day.
