Speaker 1 (00:00):
You got just doctors and graduation. Appreciate it, Appreciate your life.
Were you expectation to get drafted where you did? I mean,
I know the giants that trust menials in your I
mean yeah, I W I W. I mean it's kind
of like when you the draft is up and down,
you never really know. So I didn't have any expectation.
I would just I'm blessed to be drafted.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Do you have like a family around or you watching
the draft?
Speaker 1 (00:20):
I had a family better and have too many people
just in case I didn't get drafted, but I had
my immediate family around.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
What's your best attribute to player?
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Think my best attribute, I'd say my physicality. I'm physical, long, versatil,
I can play anywhere on in the back end, and
my linked my speed, linked and strength.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
How many slot did you play for your outside college?
What is it? What was your slot outside kind of
general ratio of college.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
I didn't play any slot at all. I just played strictly,
uh corner, outside corner.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
All the scouting reports mentioned your physicality, like obviously physical
football is a physical game, But like where else does
I come a frout?
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Like?
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Uh physicality? Like like what other things that you do like, like,
how why is that your mindset?
Speaker 1 (01:09):
I guess I wouldn't say. I was kind of boring
way of growing up older cousins and you kind of
getting picked on. You you gotta be like the kind
of the tough dog out of the little family. So
kind of was boring with it, kind of groomed into it.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Suit.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
You know, it's early in the process. Do you feel
your skill set fittend?
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Who with which Barndale.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Wants the dope? Sir? Can your peepet?
Speaker 2 (01:29):
I know what's earlier in the process, Cause do you
feel your skill set fitten full?
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Like coach Blardendale wants to dope? Oh yeah, sir. He
he likes to speed the the he likes to play
man and stuff like that. So most definitely did you
see yourself, yes, man type on it. I can see
myself playing anywhere in the NFL. Any scheme. I think
I can fit any scheme.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Kay. Oh did you have a relationship with those shame?
Speaker 1 (01:52):
Oh, shame, older be I came. I went to older
you at in junior I came from a junior college,
so I personally didn't get the meato shame, but he
most definitely welcome me in when I first when he
came up here today, Yeah, what did he mean to
guys playing at OLDU? I mean, not everybody there is
prime for the NFL. He meant, he meant a lot.
I mean, he wasn't there when a lot of people
were there. But people kind of look up to him
because we don't have a lot of people going into
(02:13):
the NFL a lot of draft picks. So when he
comes in, he's most definitely welcome. But when you know,
whatever guy gets drafted like you, you know, not from
Power five type, situation was okay? Level of competition? You know,
can he step it up to the next level? What
do you say to that?
Speaker 2 (02:27):
And you know, maybe what are some of the best
guys you played against?
Speaker 1 (02:29):
That with the truth at that point you repeat the
question again.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
As far as a level of competition.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Level of competition, everyone al whish wants.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
To ask a guy like keeping up white it take
it up at the next level.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
I I don't look too much in the level of competition.
I mean when I when I faced a guy who
came from Power five, I mean when we hit the
NFL PARA five or some builder D two, doesn't matter
if you getting in NFL, you got the same competition,
I mean Randy Marshall, he went where you go Marshall? Yeah,
he went to Marshall. I mean it's it's great everywhere.
So level competitions is too much of a difference. How
also that, okay, Jo, how much that joc mentality carroll
(03:02):
with you.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
To the day to what you announce.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Juco mentality is more so like eater star, So it's
kind of the same thing here as kind of EA
A star. How much you study your games?
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Did you play?
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Maybe? What sort of specialty stuff did you do? Though
I didn't. I didn't play a lot of special teams
in my my ed oh to you, but at ju Go,
I played special teams around. I played punk, kickoff, kickoff, return,
pretty much a little bit of everything.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
I would think that that's something that needs probably would
embraced the opportunity. I know you wanna play a defensive words,
but obviously you gotta come in as a rookie.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
It's gonna have to try, Yes, so I wanna. I'm
pretty sure I'm gonna have to earn my trust on
special teams and I'm I'm looking forward to taking that row.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Well, was your pre draft contact with the giants, like
did you have a meeting with them at the combine
or any of those?
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Just their games? The top thirty visit.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
It's is there somebody in particular? I know you wanna
be your own man, but is there so many in
particular in the NFL who you try to.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Model the game after?
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Somebody would you really admire?
Speaker 1 (03:57):
I might. I'm onder my game after a little bit
of everybody. I've been told kind of if they give
me comparison, I'll go look at to it. But Jaylen
ramsay Package thirteen, Jimmy Smith, like, people kind of got
my my side and my traits.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
So and what about their style of play?
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Does that match kind of what you try to do. Yeah,
they all come down to tack of it. I don't
think no, none of 'em are scared of neither. Does
anyone call you Larry? Nah? Nobody called me Larry. I
kind of been called Trace as I was born.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Okay, what with uh Deonta? Like, if you guys, you know,
playing the same position, you guys been bonding already, I'm
sure now.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Yeah, he a cool. He a cool person, and we
kind of got a mutual friend So it was kind
of more so it's easy to talk to somebody with
a mutual friend he a good guy. Is that it's
the mutual he's he goes to old d old Domellons, Uh,
Terry Jones, He's from Bostim Morosso And.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
Yeah, what was it like committed here today?
Speaker 1 (04:47):
It's a blessing. I mean it's kind of all hitting
me that I'm in the NFL now that I'm walking
through the facility kind of being one of the guys.
So it's most definitely a blessing.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
You mentioned the top thirty visit. On's stuck out about
that and specifically have to giants.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
I mean like everybody kind of bonded, like you could see,
like from the coaches to the staff. It's just like
everybody kind of just have ah a good relationship with
each other. And that's kind of something I really pride
myself in. And just like being able to aks somebody
and like being able to look somebody outside of a coach,
like treating somebody like family. And I guess not every cornerback,
not every corner back bun stuff you get to the
(05:23):
line and make tackles and things like that. Oh, I
know that's something they say you can do what what
separates you as a cornerback and up repeat that again
as far as you know, coming up to the line
making tackles.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
You know what I mean, you know, being involved in
the run game and things like that.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
I mean, like you kind of you kind of just
said it on every corner, don't wanna tackle. I feel
like that's something I do pride myself in being an
overall football player from covering in too making time cause
basically the versatilitybody
