Speaker 1 (00:00):
Notice like last week you for teams, you just did
seven on seven to eleven on eleven?
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Will you do any uh or have you guys been
doing any eleven eleven?
Speaker 1 (00:07):
We just we do walk throughs with it, so you know,
different things where temple it down and kind of teach it.
Review some of the stuff we we studied in the
off season, so we'll stay with that today.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
Is there much more of a mental camp for the
point of attacking guys as opposed to the guys the
skill guys.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Yeah, I mean there's rules for contact and stuff, so
we just take that out of it and again teach
our concepts, blocking schemes, how to take on blocks, run fits,
protection things, temple it down a little bit and make
sure we we get it right. So when we get
into training camp when we're going full speed with pats On,
we got something to draw from.
Speaker 4 (00:46):
You think, you know, for the rest of the camp
you'll just keep it that way or for.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
The rest of the spring inshants today we will, okay,
but we talked about that each day.
Speaker 5 (00:54):
Roan Wum with wol Wolf players and I guess especially
your rookie who was a rookie last year. You know
when they come here, do you at some point sit
them down and say, like, okay, last year is done
and you know, expectations and especially with the guy like
cave On who has had such a you know, spotlight them.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
Yeah, well, i'd say kind of everybody's the same.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
We sit down with everybody, talk about things we can
improve on, some of the things we did well. You know,
usually from i'd say year one to year two, it's
a you know, for the players that are just getting drafted,
they really had to have off season, they're learning a
brand new system, don't have a lot of experience to
draw from in the NFL, and then year two they
(01:36):
can have some experiences to draw from. But you know,
you'd like to see a jump from everyone in year one,
your rookie class to year two.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
It happens at different times. We just get better each
day to see and have been come back this year
like what I guess. I guess changes on them thinks.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
So far, well, again, they've had a year under their belt,
so still got a lot to learn. Still young players,
but again they can draw from some of the experiences
that they've had the previous year, even just not in
terms of playing right now because we're out here in
shorts and T shirts, but grasping the material.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
Different questions they ask.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
You know, they've been through some of the stuff, so
when they're watching cut ups of things that we did
the previous year, they know it. So it's a rookie,
you have no idea what's going.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
On right now.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
So I'd say, you know, most most players from year
one to year two, it's.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
You know, there's a little bit more comfort level. I
know Evan thought it was benefit. Evant thought it was
beneficial to.
Speaker 6 (02:36):
Make changes to his stance in sefseason.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
What do you what's your what are your.
Speaker 6 (02:40):
Thought on that? And you know it's something that you
maybe thought over looked into us.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
No, I'd say Bobby does a great job with those guys.
I'd say studies all the offensive linement. He's with them
all day during practice. During this time, I'd say with
each player, there's you know, little things that you try
to tweak and coach on and you know it's no
different with Evan Gabs.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Can you talk about Daniel and how he's been throwing
the ball lately. It looks like he's doing more deep
throwing that I can remember, unless I remember he is falty.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Yeah, I'd say we just make sure he throws it,
tries to throw it to the right guy with the
right reads. You know, there's not any emphasis. I think
Daniel's made steady improvement since we've been here. You know,
He's thrown us some new players out here.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
I think that's.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Important, is to try to read their body language. And
you know, again we're just you know, we're trying different
things and trying to get to know some of the
new players we have to.
Speaker 4 (03:32):
And i'd say, so is Daniel.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Other quarterbacks you've been around, do they do as much
away from them?
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Did they do as much away from the building as Daniel?
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Yeah, it's a it's a you know, that position. They're
one of the hardest workers on your team. Usually they
have the most to learn. It's a tough position to play.
You know, Daniel's a true pro. There's I'm not going
to compare them to other guys I've been around, but
he is. He's constantly working. You know, there's times where
I got to say, just take a little break here.
(04:01):
He just wants to work, work, work, meet.
Speaker 5 (04:06):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
He's he's a true pro ran.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Unless you you're pretty in a moment daunch about the
fact that putting good Doory back at pump returner with
a good idea in hindsight when you grip you the year,
is that something you would still do put a valuable
player like that back on special teams or is it
something you reconsider?
Speaker 1 (04:25):
You know, I think I think every every year is different,
every game is different. You know, were we out here
a lot of guys out here return of punts right now?
We don't have to make that decision for a while,
so we'll cross that bridge when it comes to it.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
You mentioned with the rookies when they got here in Midikanta,
you guys are going to be very conscious of how
much team stuff they were going to do on what
seven on seven As the spring progresses, and now you're,
you know, two weeks out of kind of set them away.
Do you look at at the rookies and say, you
want to get some of these guys more involved in
the team stuff to see where they're at and what
you have.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
To work on.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Yeah, I'd say our our sports science guys Sam and
and Loach, they do a really good job along with
their training staff. Of you have to take into account
most of them haven't been doing a whole bunch leading
up to it. So each day we had a little
bit more reps each period. Again it's maybe a little
bit more than it was the first day, and then
(05:18):
we reassess it.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
But we you know, remember, one thing is to try to.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
Give them out here healthy, make sure they're learning this
stuff when they're able to do it, and then hopefully
they're ready to go in training camp.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
Right, what do you what do you think of your schedule?
Speaker 5 (05:29):
A lot of road games and prime time games up front?
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Yeah, not focused on it right now, focused on today
from your experience those you know, I'm a one, one
day at a time guy here, so uh, you know,
whatever the schedule is is a schedule.
Speaker 4 (05:47):
That's why I approach it, whatever it is.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
You know, whenever we play night morning, Saturday, Thursday, for
it doesn't matter, just playing when they.
Speaker 7 (05:56):
Come all right, What's what does it mean to have
a health.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
You got laughing about something over there, crossing it exactly.
Speaker 7 (06:11):
You have a lot of money, all right, when you're
about to add someone's talented as Darren Waller to your team,
what does it mean to have them out here out
to the participating with everybody, especially because they're better, and
sometimes they may not do that.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Yeah, No, he's been he's been a great teammates since
he's been here. Again, we're just you know, he's learning us,
we're learning him. Uh you know, it's work in progress
on both both sides. But he's, like I said last week.
Speaker 4 (06:34):
He's true pro more what what? How would you assess?
K I'm worried about this year? How much more I
was ready for the follow up?
Speaker 5 (06:45):
How much more is there for him in year number two?
Speaker 1 (06:49):
I'd say, just like all the other players were just
trying to get better day by day.
Speaker 6 (06:53):
We edited a lot of pieces to a wide receiver
this offseason, none of them they'll have a proven track record,
is true? Like number one talking about at wide receiver. Obviously,
Darren's a little different.
Speaker 4 (07:04):
There's a big.
Speaker 6 (07:04):
Wide receiver out there that's available as a free agent.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
Now, how tall is he? How tall is it? I said,
a big receiver.
Speaker 6 (07:13):
I'm talking about DeAndre hot Specific gotcha, he's pretty tall,
He's pretty good.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
How open would you be to adding a piece.
Speaker 6 (07:22):
Like that now? Is just something you you guys think
you would consider?
Speaker 4 (07:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (07:25):
No, I'd say, like last year, anytime there's someone that's available,
that's a free agent. I'd say Joe and his staff
are gonna look into it, research it. We talk about
a lot of different players, so regardless of who it is,
that's part of our job is to make sure we're
we're doing our due diligence.
Speaker 6 (07:45):
Do you have any memories of Paris Campbell when he
was coming out as a as a draft guy?
Speaker 4 (07:51):
Yeah, no, I do.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Actually, Joe and I I think Brandon Bean, we took
a trip to Ohio State and we were out to
uh out to dinner with them, uh the night before
his workout.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
So got to meet him then.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
And you know a lot of times you meet all
these players pre draft and maybe it doesn't happen that
initial year, but you know they become available a few
years from now. And he just drawn some of your
meetings that you had with him.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
He was a good, good young man, smart, enjoyed our meeting.
He's done uh, he's done good jobs since he's been here.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Is that skill set Is that skill set still there,
the same skill set that you saw then or is
it advanced because he has that time?
Speaker 4 (08:35):
Well, I think you have. You can draw on experiences
when you played in this league.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
So again he's learning how we do things, we're learning
how he does things, and you know, that's what this
time of years for
