Speaker 1 (00:00):
So, like I've said a number of times, you know,
these these days, these a couple of days we've had,
they're always tough on on players, on their families, on
their teammates, on coaches, on staff members. We understand that
that's the nature of the NFL. So there's decisions that
(00:22):
we're made are being made. I'm not going to comment
on any roster decisions today. We'll talk about that tomorrow.
Our list will come out at four o'clock, and other
than that, I'm not going to add anything to any
of the decisions that we've made until that list comes
out at four.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
Jordan run on, Brian.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
A lot of players are jettis and obviously, but the
one that that kind of stands out to us is Tommy.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
You're not going to say anything about that.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
It's been out there that you know, he was informed
that he's going to be waived here.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah, our list will come out at four o'clock, Jordan.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
We'll have a pressure tomorrow Joe and I and that's
when we'll talk about it.
Speaker 4 (01:13):
Brian, are there any spots on the roster that you
feel like you guys need to be active that you're
(01:33):
not comfortable with without talking about specific players, Like, are
there any spots on the roster when you're looking at
this that you think you.
Speaker 5 (01:39):
Guys need to be particularly active in going forward.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
I think Joe and Joe and the personnel staff do
a great job of evaluating players will continue, we do that.
It's a fluid situation right now, Ryan, So you know
again those type of things. Right now, we're still having
a lot of conversations about a lot of different things,
and a lot.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Of players will get cut. We'll get the list at
four o'clock.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
And you know we'll have discussions after that.
Speaker 6 (02:10):
Time.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
Right I know, I know, as you said this, this
is a tough day, But at what point do you
sort of turn and start to look at the guys
who are here and and get excited about that roster?
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Yeah, our team meeting today, so we have a walkthrough
in a few minutes here.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
You know, that's the NFL. So it's there's always cutdown dates.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
We have our you know, we'll have our team, but
there's always you know, evaluations that take place. Do you
want to add this player, do you want to claim
this player? You know you're trying to improve any way
you can, and you know, I'm excited about the guys
that are here right now, and we'll just try to
do the best we can.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
You've said a couple of times this summer that that
they were a fun group. They were they were fund
to coach, and you really enjoyed it. Do you feel
like this roster maybe takes on is a lot closer
to your personality and the things that you want to
see from the players than maybe in the first couple
of years time.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
I think it's all about the players.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
So I'm you know, I'm happy, like I've said, with
a lot of the additions we've made and the chemistry
of the group. But again, that's all talk. You got
to go out there and do it at a high
level when it matters, which is the regular season. But
it's you know, it's a it's a player's game, and
you know, I'm excited for the players that we have
on our football team.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
Thanks yep Oh Schwartz.
Speaker 6 (03:36):
Hey, Brian, Paul, do you feel you know you're going
into a you know, your first season with the Giants
with a new quarterback as a starter.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
Do you feel you know.
Speaker 6 (03:46):
What to expect from us.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
In what regard Paul?
Speaker 6 (03:53):
You know, going out there against the commanders opening, you
know one o'clock that you kind of have an idea
what he's going to give you on the field.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Well, he's been as consistent as can be since he's
been here, so been a professional in this league a
long time. I have a lot of confidence in Russ.
Speaker 6 (04:13):
Anything you've learned about him, you know now that you've
worked with him for you know, several months.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Yeah, I would just say when you have new players
or new coaches, you build relationships with them. I have
a strong relationship with Russ. Again, I really respect him
as a as a person but also as a player
and how he goes about his business.
Speaker 6 (04:33):
And did you look obviously you know his career. You
know you've seen his career from Afar for years, the
good times, the downtimes, the downside the last few years.
Did you have to really investigate that to say, look,
what are we getting here?
Speaker 3 (04:48):
You know?
Speaker 6 (04:48):
Am I getting you know a used car? Am I
getting a thing I really want to drive here?
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Paul, I'd say we're just focused on on here in
the now and he's done a great job since he's
been here. Will continue to to work and do the
things we need to do to try to be as
successful as we can.
Speaker 6 (05:05):
One last thing about him. Do you think he he
his vibes give confidence to those around him, you know
that could he could.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
He lift up a group?
Speaker 2 (05:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Again, he's doing everything he can do since he's been
here to be as good of a quarterback for us
as he can be, and that's what we expect out
of him.
Speaker 5 (05:24):
Thank you, ye, Brian dun Leby, Brian, I don't know
if this falls under the window because it's not cuts.
Do you expect to move anybody?
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Can you tell us if so?
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Who to I are? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (05:43):
I would say again all those conversations Ryan, we'll talk
about those, you know when they come out official.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (05:53):
I just didn't know because that's not cuts.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
I figured that might be there was a chance. Good
try Ry, I figured.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
Yeah, aren't stable ten.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
A dabs or.
Speaker 7 (06:09):
In terms of you know, Tom asked about the personality
aspect you know to fit with when you know closer
to your personality. I'm just curious from a over the
last couple of years, do you find every year the
roster decisions that you're made kind of reflect what you
want this given team to look like on the field.
Maybe goals you set in the offseason, we need to
(06:31):
do this maybe differently than we did last year. I'm
just curious from that perspective, when you guys have sat
down and talked about, you know, where we're going to
a lot certain spots, to certain positions, maybe it reflects
on what you want to do with this team on
the field.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Yeah, I'd say we have a number of conversations, heard
about a lot of different things, and then you know,
the coaches, scouts, Joe his staff, me my staff, and
you know, we just try to do what we think
is right for the team and come to a general
consensus and you know, it's it's good conversations. There's plenty
(07:12):
of them that we've had for i'd say a number
of weeks. And then once this you know again, once
it comes out of four, we're just we're just trying
to do the best we can and keep the guys
we think will help us the most.
Speaker 6 (07:27):
Last one Paul Schwartz, Okay, one more Briant, do you feel,
obviously not getting into the specifics of the cuts, do
you feel that these players that you are letting go
are a of a higher caliber than they have been
in the past, that you are sending out uh players
who are NFL players out, you know, into the waivers
and things like that.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Yeah, I'd say, Paul, every time you have these conversations
and you release people, you have a high opinion of
most everybody that you released, the effort, the amount of
time and effort and energy they've put into it.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
So they're always difficult every year.
Speaker 6 (08:04):
Would you say, some years you need to get to
fifty three and sometimes it's not so easy, and other
years you know you have sixty and need to get
to fifty three. You know, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Some years you don't know.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
I know, I understand a question. I mean, every year
is different. Every year is different since I've been in
the league. So we're focused on this year and that's
where our mindset is.
