Speaker 1 (00:00):
Obviously you guys have you know, processed the scout of
the news, but just kind of what what does he
mean inside that locker room. It's one thing for guys
outside the locker room to talk about the r and
everything rings, but what does he mean in that locker
room for you guys?
Speaker 2 (00:13):
I mean, it means a lot. Just the energy he
has is very affectionate. Just him being himself is so authentic.
You see the guy gets everything that he you know,
has every play and it's hard not to not love
a guy like that. When you're working so hard for
something and you see a guy put in the work
and get the results from what he's doing.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Awesome man.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
And then obviously you guys have talked about how it
was topping and run in such a priority gets or
told us that last week. When you see teams constantly
run on you guys, what does that do for y'all?
This defense to try to say, man, we got to
get this right, or what is the what are those
conversations like when a team like the Eagles runs on
either way that they did.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
One is disheartening because how much we want to stop running,
how much much of an emphasis is But I mean
The biggest thing is I mean, Shane said it better best.
I will say. We gotta do simple things better. And
that's what it comes down to, the fundamentals, the filling
our gaps, getting off blocks, you know, the simple things.
(01:17):
And once you do those things, you can you know,
take care and eliminate those big runs, those explosive funds
and things of that.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
Natures charting and on.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Hey not something with big dog.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
Not much, uh to build on that for a second.
I mean I was just looking at some of the numbers,
like overall, you know, like running out wide left like
nine yards of carry, running over like the right tackle,
you know, close.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
To ten yards of carry.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
A lot of the stuff seems to be coming.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
To the outside, to the edges.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
What are the talking points for you guys to make
sure that that doesn't happen?
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Uh. The biggest thing is just fits. We have to
know our fits throughout every person now eleven twelve thirteen,
excel whatever it is. Know where you fit, Know where
your your next guy is, so you know where to deploy.
Because it's eleven man football, you're depending on somebody else
to do your job, so you can do your job well.
So just everybody being where they need to be and
then make the players that come to you.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
And how frustrating is that for you because you're in
the middle most of the time right in there, they're
kind of running it away from you, guys, and you're
still having success.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
What's that like for you, guys?
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Uh, it's frustrating because you want to do as much
as you can to you know, help others and help guys.
But it's like I have to farm my ground first
before I come over and overlap and help. So it's
one of those things you just have to be more
attentive to detail and just you know, let guys know
when they mess up. Hey, I need you right here
in the spot. But we're gonna shake that off and
we're gonna get it back.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Ryan, don't lay hey now, Joe, thanks for doing this, man.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Good dog.
Speaker 5 (03:05):
So I asked GVR this, ask you this. Did you
guys have any kind of issue with the tackle that
led to Scatabo's injury. I know you play defense, you
know how hard it is to do with uh tackle
in the middle of the play. But people think that
might have been a hip tuo tackle.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Yeah, it's a controversy thing. I'm not going to get
into that. My heart right now is with my guys. Scatteraboo.
He's the one that took, you know, the biggest blow
from the injury. Regardless of whether it was a hip
drop or just a regular routine tackle. We lost somebody
that's very near and dear to us. So, I mean,
did he do it on purpose? We don't know. He
was probably just trying to make the best tackle he could.
(03:45):
Scalabu is a hard guy to tackle, and with all
the rules going on right now, it makes it that
much hard to tackle, you know, opponents like that of
a Scaltaboo's caliber. So I'm not gonna say it was
dirry play. I'm not gonna say it was a hip drop.
Just mart Is with schatesble right now.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
I can appreciate that. Thank you, not yo.
Speaker 5 (04:05):
And then uh and then uh, what are you seeing
from Decks this year? Do you see him getting the
numbers aren't there? Do you see him getting the same
amount of attention from opponents more attention from opponents?
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (04:18):
Everybody thought like, oh, he's gonna get less because they
brought in that duel along with Nacho and Cavon and
Ferns and everybody, what are you seeing from decks in
terms of how teams are playing and when you line
up next.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
To him, I will say one thing, don't let the
numbers you know lie to you, because even though some
things may not pop up statistically or on the stat sheet,
guys are still worried about debt. The way they block
this is differently how they'll block us our other you know,
d Lineman. When they see him out there, he's still
a third. They still know they have to keep them
(04:52):
covered up. They still know they have to double triple
or or sell them off for certain things. So, yes,
he's still a weapon. And it's a lot of things
that Dea does well and does very on a high
level that helps other people become open or get free.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
Thanks Dot, you'll appreciate you. Yes, sir, we have time
for one more if there is one.
Speaker 5 (05:15):
Oh, then Maddie, I'll ask again. I was gonna ask
you about Burns. Uh, what have you seen from him
in terms of taking his game to the next level
from last year to this year? Because he's already got
ten sacks, he can make a defensive player of the
year argument.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Probably, what have you seen from Burns this year?
Speaker 2 (05:32):
I'm not even gonna lie to you. I've said it
from the time we started in the OTAs. I've complimented
them every day. I'm like, bro, I love your approach
on this year. I love your attention to detail. I
love how how much you're putting into your craft. And
you were seeing it in every rep. Every rep he
wanted to win, every rep he wanted to dominate, and
(05:53):
went into training camp he was doing the same thing.
And it's just it's all coming together. And to see
a guy have multiple two set games, it's lovely. And
I always tell him like, hey, bro, you're trying to
get that Defense Player of the Year. Huh. Come on, now,
let's get this our pro and get this Pro Bowl
and do what you need to do. And so it's
it's nice. I'm not even gonna lie to you.
