Giants defeat the Las Vegas Raiders thirty four to ten.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Out in Vegas.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
The Giants improved their record to three and thirteen. The
Raiders are now too and fourteen. Good evening, everybody. Josh
Maultike barbered with you from the studios of WFN in
Downtown Manhattan. The Giants win their first game Tiki in
their last ten. They break their nine game losing streak.
And really, I think, when you look at these two
teams today, how summed up like this? It was pretty
(00:54):
clear the Giants were the more talented and better team
in this game, and they played that way, and they
showed it, and they took advantage of Raiders' mistakes. They
made some really nice plays of their own and very
nice convincing victory.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Yeah, it was a good victory against a bad team.
This is a lesson that you know, when people want
to ask about what this win doesn't mean anything because
it just takes you out of first pick overall in
the in the NFL draft, But it does teach you
what you're supposed to do against bad teams, whether you're
on the road or at home, and so beating up
a bad team is exactly what this Giants team needed
(01:24):
to do. And I don't care what the repercussions are
draft wise, it.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Feels good to get a victory.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
You can see it on the faces of the guys
as they're leaving the field, and it's just all the
work that you put in all week long, really for
the majority of the season finally starts to pay off
on a victory against a team that you obviously should beat.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
But it just feels good to execute consistently.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
And there are a lot of good things to take
away from this game, and a couple concerning things, but
a lot of really good things, including Jackson Dart looking
like the Jackson Dart we saw four or five weeks ago,
and more importantly, the play calling back to normal so
that he can utilize his running ability to put the
team in scoring position in fact, score two touchdowns, as
we saw within forty eight yards rushing.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Dart twenty two or thirty in this game for two
hundred and seven yards, no touchdowns, no picks. Also ran
in nine times or forty eight yards two touchdowns on
the ground for Dart, And just to get it out
of the way, the Giants right now own the second
overall pick in the NFL draft. That there was happening today, well,
not just the one more week of games to be
played here. They're three and thirteen tied with three other teams.
(02:27):
Strength of scheduled tiebreaker is the determination there that can
still alter next week. But that's where the Giants stand
in terms of that. That was tonight's game breakdown, brought
to you locally by Ford One performance and capability at
every turn. Get behind the wheel of a new Ford

whole lot more from the locker room when we return.
(02:49):
The Giants again defeat the Raiders, thirty four to ten.
We'll be right back.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
You're listening to Giants extra Point on the WFAN Giants
Radio Network.
Speaker 5 (03:02):
Strong formation to the left, fourth and one at the two, singletary,
the tail pot play, fake dark rolls left, God's gonna
run with it, and God's inick for the touchdown, his
second rushing touchdown of the ball game on a fourth
and one at the two.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
That was a Giants final score of the game.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
They give them thirty four points.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
It was the culmination of a fifteen play, sixty five
yard drive that lasted eight minutes and forty nine seconds.
It was tonight's scoring drive of the game. Brought to
you by Citizens. For every scoring drive this season, Citizens
will donate seven hundred and fifty dollars to the Giants
Foundation to support their work tackling important community issues, improving
(03:44):
overall health, and empowering our youth. We're back here on
Giants Extra Point. Giants defeat the Raiders thirty four to ten.
John Schmolke, Tiki Barber One of the game going on
right now. We'll track this for you. Visit is significant
in terms of playoff picture. Eagles currently lead the Bills
thirteen to ten, but the Bills on the move there
in the Philadelphia red zone with six minutes and thirty
seconds to go in the fourth quarter. So we'll track
(04:06):
that for you as you go along. Here, I tink
you mentioned it. They decided to bring back some of
the Dart design run stuff. That touchdown was on a
play action boot with a run pass option. They had
a couple of different zone reads over the course of
the game.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
You would design quarterback draw.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Really leaning into Dart's playmaking ability is what I'll call
which is what made him so effective in his first half.
Doesn't start, of course it did.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
I mean we kept hearing the statistics about his acumen
to throw a touchdown, be consistent and high completion percentage
and not very many mistakes, but also run for a
score or so or two, and he brought that back today.
And for teams that get into the red area, it
gets really tight down there. Good defenses are going to
be able to hem you in. And the only way
(04:47):
to gain an advantage, any kind of advantage, just to
have a six skill position guy and Jackson Dart gives
you that. There's not a whole lot of teams they
can fully utilize it. Lamar Jackson, even Tyler Huntley a
little bit can do this.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
It's hard.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
It's harder when you don't have a quarterback who can
stretch a defense but also keep them minding their p's
and ques instead of committing to stopping whatever it is
a scheme they think you're running. So Jackson dart with
his legs is so valuable for this Giant offense.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Yeah, Bob gave the Statlin darts in the game.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
The Giants are a top five red zone team as
opposed to when he's not win there, I think in
the thirty percent, in a thirty percent in terms of
scoring touchdown. So it really does make a difference when
you have to give the defense two things to worry about,
and you can't fully commit to the run when the
Giants are trying to push it in because you know
Dark can keep it.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
And make a move like that right, exactly right, and
you saw that twice in the red zone, and it
just makes things easier for everybody else. But you know,
you give credit, and we've done this all season long
to the Giants offensive line and how they've remade themselves,
and just so this isn't aside.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Early in this.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
Game, we saw Jermaine Ilumidor jump offside have two false
starts penalties, and people were starting to get a little flustered.
I'm sure on social media. The reality is it's a
new center. So when John Michael Schmidtz has put on
ir and Schloatman is starting at center, the count, especially
because it's silent count on the road, the timing is
just a little bit off, and so it took a series.
(06:16):
But you saw it two times in the first series
and then you didn't see it for the rest of
the game. And so that's that's a center edge, you know,
tackle communication issue, and it's really not even communication, it's
just timing. But luckily that that got sorted out.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
But anyways, my point was to give credit.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
To this offensive line over the last three weeks or
four weeks, even when they have not played very well offensively,
this run game has been efficient and dominant, running for
over five yards of Carrie today Trace Tyrone Tracy had
sixty two yards with a four point four average, dart
forty eight five to three Devin singletary with a touchdown,
(06:54):
and five point six yards per carry. So they're able
to get it done on the ground, which is something
that's gonna be veryaluable going forward.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Yeah, and Tiki, correct me if I'm mistaken, but I
don't think I am. The Giants plus two today in takeaways. Correct, Yes,
two takeaways. So now all three Giant wins this year
they've been at least plus two.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
It just goes to show you that's the most important.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
One of the most important metrics and football is turnover margin.
And if it's hard to win games when you don't
win the turnover margin just because you give away possessions.
Football is about possessions. We don't talk about it in
that granular of a fashion, but when games are tight
and when the score is going to go high, the
number of possessions matter. And by stealing two from the Raiders,
(07:36):
you got an extra you know, fourteen points potentially, and
in this case they did no Dick.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
You're right.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
That's the basis of a lot of these analytics that
are forcing teams to go forward more on fourth down
because you have to understand, you know, you get somewhere
from ten to twelve possessions a game, and in some
of these low possession games you might only get seven
or eight. So if you just settle for three on one.
It's the same thing with baseball, right, The most valuable
thing isn't out. That's why a walk is so important.
(08:01):
The most valuable thing in the NFL is possessing the football,
which is why teams are going for and more and
more on these fourth downs.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
And I see that, and I understand it, and it's
you just got to be smart about it. I think
it's just something that you have to really put a
commitment into going forward on fourth down. And by the way,
as bad as the Raiders are, because they are one
of the worst teams in football with only two wins
now and fourteen losses, they were pretty damn effective on
fourth down.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
They were converting on one.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Of those drives four or four and they were better
on fourth down than they were on third four or
five on fourth down and the end four one for
a touchdown. Yeah, and so you give them credit for
the little things, the little wins that you can take,
but not much else. Mike Kafka is on the podium.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
Are you talking about the meaning of the win for
the team?
Speaker 6 (08:50):
Great? Great win? In really all three phases stepped out.
Speaker 7 (08:54):
You know, you saw plays on offense, guys like wandall
stepping up and having a great day for us when
we need the most huge third down conversions, big plays
across the field. Our offensive line blocked their tail off
in the run game and in the pass game. Really
really proud of how Jackson rebounded from the last couple
of weeks in terms of stepping up.
Speaker 6 (09:11):
It's not it's not easy to win this league.
Speaker 7 (09:13):
And for him to step up like that for like
he did, you know, not only throwing the ball, but
running the football as well.
Speaker 6 (09:18):
Really proud of our defense.
Speaker 7 (09:20):
I think held him, under held them at sixty three
rushing yards versus that back who's an explosive player.
Speaker 6 (09:27):
Did a great job.
Speaker 7 (09:28):
In the run game, they had two turnovers, were huge
with Bobby o'carak and Dane Belton having having two picks.
So really proud of our defense for step and I've
had a couple of critical even down the line. Then
special teams wise, I thought they played with their hair
on fire. And and Tay Banks had a great play
right there to kind of put it away and really
and really make a stamp on himself. And and and
for him to learn a new position in the off season,
(09:49):
we asked him to do something that he really wasn't
comfortable with to start and just kept on getting better
and better and better, and uh, you know.
Speaker 6 (09:57):
You could see it in practice.
Speaker 7 (09:58):
You can see his practice habits and how he was
working that something like that would happen. And for him
to have a ninety five yard touchdown return this really
cool for the kid to see that success.
Speaker 8 (10:07):
Judging from the reaction in the locker rooms, pretty big deal.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
Why is that such a big deal with now when
where we'd left the.
Speaker 7 (10:14):
B you know, like I said, I think wins are
winds are hard to get in this league in general,
and then for us to kind of come out here
and play like they did, you know, I'm just really
proud of how our coaches coached it. Those they stepped
up and made sure that you know, our guys were prepared,
that our guys were ready to roll, and they came
out with that intent, you know, to really to play hard,
(10:35):
play physical, play fast. And I'm just really excited about
the you know, the guys, because that's really who I'm
thinking about. You know that you guys have played and practiced,
you know, put in so many hours, you know, early mornings,
late nights, put in hours on their body and on
their mind to get prepared for these things and for
them to see the success.
Speaker 6 (10:51):
That's what it's about. And you know you can hear it.
Speaker 7 (10:53):
You can feel the enthusiasm, you can feel the excitement
for those guys because of all the hard work they put.
Speaker 6 (10:57):
In at saw your building.
Speaker 9 (11:01):
We need to do this game about what did these
teams have to play for your draft picks and things.
Speaker 10 (11:07):
Like that come.
Speaker 9 (11:08):
I guess you hear that you let it, give it
to your locker room and obsolete.
Speaker 7 (11:15):
Yeah, I mean the things that we were playing for
or for each other, you know, to a man in
that room, and having each other's back and and and
playing as hard as we can for each other. You know,
you know, you get into a football locker room, it's
a family, and you know sometimes you have to go
through the ups and downs, but you understand, you keep
on plugging away, you keep on putting the hard work,
and then you'll get the result you want.
Speaker 6 (11:35):
What did you say response after the last year, Yeah,
I'm really proud Jackson.
Speaker 7 (11:40):
How he stepped up for our offense and really did
a good job of just controlling the game, managing the game,
taking easy completions to start and then when he had
opportunities downfield, his guys work for him, and he got
on the football. He did a great job with his feet,
you know, whether it was design runs or whether it
was scrambles, either getting us back to line shrimmage, or
making plays with the legs and getting us first downs.
(12:00):
So I think for him to bounce back it was
it was something that I think we all saw in
practice and how he approached it, and then for him
to come out here and do this in the game,
I'm not surprised.
Speaker 6 (12:09):
I'm not surprised and how he played, but.
Speaker 7 (12:12):
He you know, I'm just really proud of how he responded.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
This is your first win as a head coach, would
enough time to reflect on that or later which.
Speaker 7 (12:23):
Your thoughts Now, Yeah, it's not I'm not deflecting. I'm
serious that it's about the players and those guys to
get getting a win for them and for each other.
Speaker 6 (12:32):
And we're all in this thing together.
Speaker 7 (12:33):
Everyone's working hard and putting a lot of hours in
because it means something to us. And to see that
locker room and feel that locker room in a post
game and even during the game, you know, you feelt,
you felt that energy and you felt the urgency to
finish this thing off. And again, I'm just really excited
and proud for him. It's gonna be a fun ride
play right back, and then we got to get back.
Speaker 6 (12:51):
To work.
Speaker 11 (12:56):
For your game for him to get to this point
in his career.
Speaker 6 (12:58):
We did, and you reliable as he was he ever argument,
what's it said?
Speaker 11 (13:02):
Like his growth just to give you this point one
thousand yarbs?
Speaker 7 (13:05):
Yeah, wandell you know we came in together, right who
was our first draft class, a guy that I that
I know and love really well, and to him to
see him continue to grow in that position, and we
asked him to do you know, he came in primarily
as a slot. We asked him to play a little
bit more outside this year based on injuries, and he
just he jumped at it. And then I think he
took his craft to another level in terms of being
on the planet outside perimeter receiver and still have the
(13:28):
dynamic ability to play inside and the slot and create
mismatches and matchup opportunities for himself. So again, to have
that day eleven catches one hundred and thirteen yards, then
to eclipse a thousand, what awesome milestone for him. I know,
I know for him it's really cool because you know,
you saw that and you saw this a lot of
the production over the years. But a fat thousand marker
is a big deal, and it's a big deal for him.
(13:49):
And to get it, not only the way he did
it with exposive plays, but to get it and also
get the win I think it's kind of just the
chair on top for him. I know he was really
excited about it. I'm super proud of him.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
A touchdown quarter only made the end of there and
what did you make it?
Speaker 4 (14:05):
A bounce back I mean, came off right now?
Speaker 7 (14:08):
Yeah, I mean it was a four fourteen play drive.
These guys were defending every blade of grass that they could.
Gino made a nice play on the scramble to find him.
Uh you know he uh Tay just kind of you know,
put that play behind him and then attacked the next
play and made a huge one for us right and
then and had the ability there to kind of shut
it out, you know, mentally and really put put a
stamp on it on the game for himself. And and
(14:30):
that was a that was a huge play in the game.
I mean, I can't I can't underst I mean I
can't understate it. That was a huge play for us.
Speaker 12 (14:38):
Looks like Jackson had a little bit more slag up
on practice.
Speaker 10 (14:43):
This week or.
Speaker 6 (14:45):
Yeah, he had.
Speaker 7 (14:46):
He had a good he had a good approach to practice.
It's and again, it's not easy. Like you're you're a
young player, You're going through the ups and downs of
the season and you got to battle through that. You
gotta keep your mind sharp, you gotta keep your mind
clear and not let other things, the outside noise kind
of bog you down. And he didn't let it affect
him at all. And he's been he's been great. He's
been great for me. And he saw him just execute
early in the game and just kept on taking what
(15:07):
the defense was given him. Then when he had opportunities downfield,
he was had the ability to be aggressive and stay
aggressive with it, and then he let his playmakers make
plays for him. And that's I think for him to
continue to see that, to continue to grow that way
is going to be important because there's gonna be time
for him that he needs to put, you know, the
Superman cape on and go make the plays. But majority
of the time, it's just about operating and operating fast
(15:29):
and you saw that today and I think that was
a good turning point for him. That's been great for
you just just being able to talk to him because I,
you know, I've been in that seat. They've been in
that chair in terms of being a you know, a
young quarterback or rookie quarterback, and you see that. You know,
I've been into other experiences having a coach a young
rookie quarterback and have him go through the ups and
(15:49):
downs of the season, and that those those conversations sometimes
aren't easy. You know, We've got to have honest, upfront
conversations about things that we need to clean up, things
that we're doing really well, but things that we need
to solve and solve fast because the season is so
is so rapid that you know, you don't have an
off beauty of an off season to really you know,
mature in certain ways, so you know, everything's sped up
(16:11):
in in season. So it's just when I when I
talk to him, we're having real conversations, upfront conversations about
things we want to clean up. He's always attacked it
head on, and he's always attacted with the right approach
and a growth mindset to to understand he's going to
get better, and any any kind of coaching points we've
given him, he's he's attacked in practice, he's attacked in
the drills, its individual periods.
Speaker 6 (16:30):
Apply it to the practice.
Speaker 7 (16:31):
And then when you see a game like this and
watch him show those his footwork and the things, is
his processing speed up in the game, Like that's what
it's That's why we have those things for him. And
you know, I'm proud of how he responded, and you know,
again I'm excited for him and and except for the
players first.
Speaker 6 (16:53):
Half the.
Speaker 7 (16:55):
Yeah, another another week, another week for a duel where
he's he's taken the right approach in the right mindset,
and I think he's starting to get into a groove
in terms of a player and really understanding, you know,
what are what are his strengths, what are his weaknesses,
and how he can to continue to study and attack
the opponent's strengths and weaknesses. And and Charlie and the
defense is doing a good job putting him in different
(17:15):
positions to be successful. You know, he's not just lining
up on one side, and you know he's he's able
to line up over the center, over the guards, and
then on top of that, he's got a couple other
guys that that offenses have to have to think about
and Brian Burns and Dexter and so you know that
is also a part of that. And he's going to
get some some singles. He's going to get some opportunities
one on one and when they do want to go
(17:35):
double them, now that's opportunities for Burns and Decks to
have success. Sorry, yeah, we kept him out. You know,
we'll get another look at how looking on the knee.
So I don't have any any anything full yet until
we get their reports and.
Speaker 11 (17:52):
Tast just what what do you see what Charlie when
he's done to kind of get these guys to you know,
get those takeaways and seem.
Speaker 6 (17:58):
Like for a while new Hard Yeah, yeah, Charlie.
Speaker 7 (18:01):
Charlie has done a nice job of just honing in
things that he's comfortable with, things that the players are
comfortable with, and allowing those guys to play for free
and fast. You know, he's trimmed down the menu a
little bit in terms of, you know, what we want
to do on certain situations. I think he has a
really clear plan and he's able to you know, communicate
that plan to the players. And coaches very early in
(18:21):
the week so guys can really hone in on it
and understand where my leverages are at, what gap responsibilities
I'm I'm handling, and then they're able to just kind
of cut it loose and let their natural ability show.
Speaker 9 (18:33):
Anyone in the building that'll talk to you about either
how people are going to approach this game and maybe
like sort of like the integrity of the game and
you know his keg tank and just these tanks they
don't want to win, their sitting players.
Speaker 6 (18:46):
You know you said players who are hurting you see
right about did.
Speaker 9 (18:50):
Anyone have that discussion when if you have that discussion
your head.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
Is high and think you know he shooting played sort
of play?
Speaker 7 (18:56):
No really in me of the only discussions we had
were just how can we find a way to win
and we'll put our players in the best position to
do that.
Speaker 6 (19:03):
Thanks everybody.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
Thanks, That's Mike Cafkis.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Press conference is brought to you by Hackensack britin Health,
Keep getting better, Quick time out.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
We'll come back talk about it and a whole lot more.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Right after this Giants again defeat the Raiders thirty four
to ten.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
We'll be back with more on Giants Extra Point. After this, you're.
Speaker 4 (19:18):
Listening to Giants Extra Point on the WFAN Giants radio network.
Speaker 5 (19:27):
It comes to the near side, Banks fields it at
the five east of the twenty east.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
To the thirty. There goes Banks along the left. He's
a cross midfield. It's a foot race.
Speaker 13 (19:37):
Fiant.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
Take Banks to the twenty ten five touchdown, Giants, and that's.
Speaker 14 (19:44):
How you respond. After getting out the fourth and goal
touchdown pass, Banks takes it to the house.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
Technically a ninety.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
Five yard kickoff return for a touchdown, and that gave
the Giants a twenty seven to ten lead at the
very end of the third quarter. It was tonight's play
the Game, brought to you locally by Ford. Want performance
and capability at every level. Get behind the wheel of
a new four truck or scuv Ford official truck at
SUV of the New York Giants. Johnsh Moult Tiki Barber.
(20:13):
Giants scored one more touchdown. They defeat the Las Vegas
Raiders thirty four to ten. Mike Kafka talked a lot there, Tiki,
but I want to start with that Bank's touchdown because
the Giants special teams over the past month have really
taken a step back. Whether it's been the kicking game,
the coverage game, you name it, it has not been pretty.
Ben Saul's today perfect on field goals and extra points
(20:35):
and you get the Banks kickoff return for a touchdown and.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
Really nice job.
Speaker 3 (20:38):
There was a lot of good plays on the coverage
units as well, but Ben Saals was a was a
revelation for this Giants team who have had kicking problems
really feels like since Week one.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
Three years ago or two years ago.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
And maybe as a rookie he has a chance to
do something going forward with his career. But tonight he
was exactly what he needed to be and just perfect.
But it's the Banks is going to get all the attention.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
As we just played.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
It was a humongous play in the game because it
put it away, as Mike Kafka correctly pointed out, and
it came after the Raiders had made a very long drive.
They converted three fourth downs on that drive. I believe
maybe it was even four on that drive and ultimately
got into the end zone on a play where Deontay
Banks look like he forgot he was playing man coverage.
(21:24):
It looked like he was waiting or looking inside, hoping
that the safety was going to come over and help him,
when there was no safety for him to help him with.
And he gave up a touchdown to a not being
able to run that very well Tyler Lockett. But then
to respond the way that he did and go ninety
five yards of the house, just erasing it immediately was
(21:46):
It's encouraging because we haven't seen a ton of encouraging
from Deontay Banks oh these last couple of years. Look,
he's still a young player. He's got some maturing to do.
You know, in an ideal world, as a first round
draft pick, you want it to be here.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
It might not be here.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
But I think he's got talent, He's got skill. He's
just got to learn to play with a higher football
like you. But returning that kickoff was awesome.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
Yeah, Robinson heading into his or rather heading into his
for agency season. He's played four years for the Giants,
second round pick, as Kafkan mentioned, that initial class when
they came in here, so good to see him have
a big game. Taky eleven catches one hundred and thirteen yards.
I have never seen I think eleven completely uncontested catches, and.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
Yeah, you talk about what.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
My goodness, right, I was talking Deonte Banks on the
on this you know, maybe not being a free agent,
but Wanda Robinson is a free agent this offseason, and
it's going to be interesting to see what his market commands.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
What is market commands with the Giants, mean, what are.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
They willing to pay because they don't have a ton
of free agency space. I think it's twenty six million
dollars or something like that. He clears up significantly in
twenty twenty seven. But for right now, how do you
make this team? Wanda Robinson's a big part of it.
There's going to be a lot of people and say,
you need upgrade and with the league neighbors back healthy,
you need somebody who can be a true number two.
(23:07):
But there's a chance that, I mean, you could argue
Wandel Robinson is a true number two. He's been used
in so many different ways. You were right about the
uncontested catches, running you know, in the slot, running outside.
There was not a lot of raider coverage around him
when he was making some of those receptions. So it'll
(23:27):
be it'll be interesting to see what happens to him
this offseason, no.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
Question about it. By the way. The other game going
on right now.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
The Bills just completed a touchdown pass to Dawson Knox,
but I believe on review it's a half a inch short.
It'll be ruled out at about the half yard line.
The Bills will then have to call time out to
stop the clock and prevent a ten second runoff, and
they will have it.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
First or third and goal.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
I think yeah, at the half yard line with eighteen
seconds ago, trailing the Eagles thirteen to six. The Bills
scored a touchdown in their previous possession, had the extra
point blocked by Jayal Quarter to keep it a seven
point game. So we're gonna have some drama here, Tiki
I the end of this game.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
This is fun. This is going to get interesting up
in Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
It's a Josh Allen special, meaning he doesn't do much
until the fourth quarter and then all of a sudden
he starts to bring his team back.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
This is Dawson Knox right, Yep.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
Dawson Knox just trying to put his hand down ends
up putting his elbow down. If he doesn't put any
arm down and just dives into the end zone, it's
a touchdown, dude.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
How about Brandon Cooks two big catches on this drive,
one little eight yard out, then he caught a deep
post for about thirty five yards a contested catch too,
So yeah, the call is officially reversed. The Bills will
have the ball at the half yard line here down seven.
They should have to charge in that time out. We'll
see what they do here as they figure out the clock.
(24:48):
The Bills do have one time out remaining here with
eighteen seconds to go on the clock, and they can
still run the ball here tiki, So it'll be interesting
to see how they handle this.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
Yeah, this will be fun. I assume the ball will
be now fourth and fourth and goal part. I assume
the ball will be in Josh Allen's hands in some
capacity or another.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
I can see this being old school, the old John ellway,
where he just takes a snap and tries to do
like the jump over the top and reach the ball
with Allen's you know, leaping ability in length. We'll see
how this goes. I'm curious to see what the Bills
do here. And it looks like dumb McDermott it's gonna
call a time out here to see what he decided.
Shean mcdermert. Sorry, U mcdermot's basketball player. Sean McDermott's gonna
(25:27):
call tive out here. I try to figure out what
he's gonna do on fourth down as the Bills try
to set this up. We're gonna have Jackson Dart the
podium in a little bit Tiki. But overall, again, I
think the Giants a game where they were the more
talented team, they were favorite to winning this game. They
go out and do what they have to do to
win it. Let's call let's take a quick break. We'll
come back. We'll have Jackson Dart more from the locker
(25:49):
room as well, with Paul Deatino and Pete hoffin that
and a lot more when we return right here. The
Giants again defeat the Raiders thirty four to ten.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
Will be right back.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
You're listening to Giants Extra Point on the An Giants
Radio Network.
Speaker 15 (26:02):
This is Brian Burns, and you're listening to Giants football
on the Fan w f AN and w FAN FM,
New York.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
We're back here on Giants extra Point. The Giants defeat
the Raiders thirty four to ten. Ticky and I during
that break watching the end of that Eagles and Bills game.
They scored on a Josh Allen quarterback sneak on the
fourth and goal at the half yard line.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Decided to go for two, which was an interesting decision.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
Tick and I both I think would have kicked the
extra point and gone overtime.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
Right because the Eagles had played like crap. They have
not played well.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
But Joe Brady dials up a nice play on the
two point conversion. I think that was clear. Shakira right
made a great move, was wide open going towards the corner.
Josh Allen had some pressure in his face backing up.
I mean he had three or four yards of separation
and Josh Allen just threw it too far in front
of him and it was an incomplete passage.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
It was win all you have to All he had
to do was lobb it in there.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
He threw it with some pace, but all he had
to do was lob it into the end zone and
let Shaki run underneath it. And it's a two point
conversion of Eagles win this game. I mean, the Bills
steal this game after trailing the Eagles for ninety of
the game time.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
And it's a shame because we could have had a
very meaningful game next week between the Patriots, with the
Patriots and the Bills both going for that af that
first place in the AFC is now the Patriots. Assuming
the Bills don't get extra point here and kick like
an eighty yard field goal. Uh, the Patriots are gonna
win the AFC East. Kick correct, and then the Eagles
do rec covert, the Eagles are gonna win this game.
(27:27):
So now the Patriots do clinch the AFC East, and
the Bills are probably on the rest and a lot
of their players next week because they you know, there
might be some seeding at stake, but nothing that you're
gonna have to play for, so you want as many
meaningful games as possible TIKI in the final week of
the season, And right now I don't think we're gonna
have all that many. In the National Football League. You
might have that top seed in the AFC still at stake,
(27:47):
depending if the Broncos winner lose next week, but otherwise
the every division except for maybe the NFC West, depending
on what happens tonight with the forty nine or Bears
game is pretty much gonna be wrapped up.
Speaker 3 (27:58):
Yeah no, it's kind of anti climac that going into
Week eighteen, and it's not how you draw.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
It up if you're the NFL, but it's just what
you take.
Speaker 3 (28:05):
And it's hard to tell who has who's the favorite
going into the postseason. You know, the Eagles, obviously is
defending Super Bowl champions, haven't played great, but they they've
won some games that they maybe shouldn't have, and now
they go to eleven wins on the on the season,
eleven and five on the year. The Bills have the
exact record as well, obviously on the AFC side, eleven
and eleven and four their game behind the Patriots, who
(28:28):
have been played as one of the best teams in
football and had an MVP candidate and Drake may So
it's it's hard to see where this is all going
to feel out. But this is why you love the
Silver football and ultimately why you love January football even better.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
And you are gonna have the AFC North is gonna
be stalled for grabs as well. The Steelers and Ravens
will go head to head and the winner of that
game will win the AFC North. I'm guessing that's gonna
be Sunday Night Football next Sunday. I would i would
expect I would expect it to be as well. Again,
that depends what happens with the NFC West teams over
these next couple of days, with the forty nine ers
and the Rams Tiki.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
So the Giants now moved forward.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
They have one more game next week against the Dallas Cowboys,
and I just think you want to continue to see
Jackson Dort play.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
Well.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
Let's talk about his game a little bit, because Mikekathkeet
did talk about his performance a bit. I just thought
he very smart, efficient, professional game. He took what the
Raiders gave him was accurate for the most part. I
had a couple airmail passes Tomando Robinson, but otherwise a
very very solid game for Dart in a game where
he didn't have to do a ton because the Raiders
(29:30):
and the way they played and the way the Giants
played as a team. But I think given how he
looked the last week against the Vikings, this is the
type of bounce back performance you will now exactly right. Look,
he dropped back thirty times after dropping back officially eleven
times last week, and though there were six or seven
more dropbacks on that list as well, but he dropped
back thirty times, completed over seventy percent of his passes.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
He made very little mistakes with the football. Never I
don't think ever put the ball in harm's way. It
wasn't one that you were holding your breath that that
was a risky throw. A lot of that's because of
how the Raiders play, this massive zone behind most of
what they do, and there's tons of space for him
to throw the ball into. But I give Mike Kafka
a ton of credit for devising a game plan that
(30:12):
made it feel and look easy for Jackson Dart that
obviously has helped and buoyed by a run game that
just dominated from the very beginning of the game. And
you give all those guys up front, as we did earlier,
some credit. But I think the most important thing we
said this two weeks ago, we'll say it again last week,
we'll say it again this week, We'll say it again
next week. This is a chance for guys like Abdul
(30:33):
Carter to continue to grow. We saw that with a
couple of tackles for a loss. It's a chance for
Jackson Dart to get experienced and see things that he
hasn't seen this yet. Because as defensive coordinators try to
flummox him, but he responds for the most part. Other
than a couple of games with tons of great acumen,
it's a chance for.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
Marcus Bow to get a.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
Chance to get some looks, and he played well to
sixty minutes of football. I don't think we call his
name for anything bad. The only thing we talked about
was him steamrolling guys, and Carl brought it up once
where he pancaked the guy at the point of attack.
So only only good things can happen for these young
kids getting opportunities to play a little bit more.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
All right, let's take a time out. When we come back,
we'll talk more about that running game. A nice job
over one hundred rushing yards for the Giants running backs
combined for Tyrone Tracy Junior in Devin Singletary. Today we'll
talk more about the defense. We'll hear from Jackson Dart
and a whole lot more from the locker room when
we return. The Giants defeat the Las Vegas Raiders. They're
now three and thirteen. They defeat them thirty four to ten.
We'll be back with more after this.
Speaker 4 (31:35):
You're listening to Giants Extra Point on the Wfan Giants
Radio Network.
Speaker 16 (31:40):
This is Wanda Robinson and you're listening to Giants Football
on the fan WFAN and Wfan FM.
Speaker 14 (31:47):
New York's run the Giants twenty nine dart out of
playfake retreats in the pocket, zips.
Speaker 8 (31:58):
One well quite up in Robinson across midfield, flowers and
shoulder up for forty.
Speaker 4 (32:02):
Pounces off a tackler and finally knocked.
Speaker 5 (32:05):
That amounts in the thirty five yard line.
Speaker 2 (32:09):
Wan Though Robbinson a big day eleven catches one hundred
and thirteen yards, he now has one thousand and fourteen
yards on the season, including that big play you just
heard right there. Giants Football is brought to you by Verizon,
the official five G network of the New York Giants,
Verizon America's most reliable network. Let's go to the locker
room in Las Vegas after the Giants thirty four to
ten win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Our player press
(32:31):
conferences are brought to you by MetLife, the official insurance
company of the New York Giants.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
Here's Wando Robinson.
Speaker 9 (32:36):
You heard it beforehand right this whole week about this
is the Tank Bowl.
Speaker 13 (32:39):
These two teams are going.
Speaker 17 (32:40):
For the first pick I heard all the other stuff.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
What do you you heard it right?
Speaker 6 (32:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 13 (32:44):
I mean I feel like everybody everybody heard about it.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
What was your thoughts on happening back?
Speaker 13 (32:48):
I didn't pay too much attention to it.
Speaker 16 (32:50):
You know, obviously, you know I'm going out there trying
to win every game that I play, and heard it
like you know, obviously there's no guaranteems that I'm here,
I'm here next year, So I wasn't.
Speaker 13 (33:00):
I wasn't trying to think too much about what that was.
Speaker 9 (33:03):
Did you have any doubt that there was franchise from
what you know about it and within the owners, what
you know about the own music, they would ever several.
Speaker 13 (33:10):
Or anything other than trying to win every game. I don't.
I don't think that's what they I don't think that's
what they're trying to do.
Speaker 16 (33:15):
And never got the sense of that this week that
we were trying to go out there and lose this game.
Speaker 13 (33:19):
I feel like we were always trying to go out
there and win. So we prepared the right way and
went out there and executed me.
Speaker 6 (33:24):
I apologize to your ass.
Speaker 11 (33:25):
Wanted able, you wanted a thousand, You talked about it,
just now that it's here. What does it mean to
get that market even selling the win.
Speaker 16 (33:32):
I mean it means a lot, you know, a lot
of hard work that went into this, and kind of
always being told nobody would think that I would hit
them working and you know, so it feels really good
just to know that all the hard work that I
put in this offseason.
Speaker 13 (33:49):
Came to fish.
Speaker 11 (33:49):
So I think I saw the AP recorded year first time.
It's eighty nine receiver your size, It's got in a
thousand yards. So just not just the work pointing, but
just for as you said, people probably doubted you, like
how what does it mean to be the first person
in thirty six years of your height thirty seven years
to get that number.
Speaker 13 (34:05):
I mean, like you said, it means a lot.
Speaker 18 (34:08):
You know.
Speaker 16 (34:08):
He just always kind of being labeled, you know, just
a slot guy and can only do certain things and
will never hit certain numbers and things like that. So
I just wanted to prove at the end of the day,
really prove myself right, knowing that I can do everything
I don't on a football field that I needed.
Speaker 6 (34:21):
To do, being able to put a thousand yards work
with Dard.
Speaker 4 (34:24):
How would it be important for you to return to
build that relationship.
Speaker 16 (34:27):
I mean, yeah, I think I've expressed that. You know,
I would love to love to be back here and
continue to go with him. I think he's going to
be a phenomenal quarterback, and I felt like we've built
a pretty good relationship out there on.
Speaker 13 (34:37):
The field and even off the field.
Speaker 16 (34:39):
You know, so I just want to see We'll see
what happens, but obviously I would love to be here.
Speaker 13 (34:43):
What did you see from him today after?
Speaker 16 (34:47):
I mean, obviously it was a bounce back, you know,
taking what the defense is giving him, not trying to
do too much, just out there playing quarterback and knowing.
Speaker 13 (34:54):
Exactly where he has to go with the ball. And
just like I said, just playing quarterback out.
Speaker 9 (34:58):
There, I mean that that's what he has to be
right with his legs, his arm, you know, he's he
can't be in a box.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
I mean that this is this, this is this is
him right.
Speaker 13 (35:05):
Yeah, I say that that.
Speaker 16 (35:06):
I think today you saw like they weren't they weren't
trying to give up any big, big plays that down
the field, and you know he was able to, you know,
just take what the defense is giving him and allow
us to move down the field and just score points.
Speaker 10 (35:16):
Away.
Speaker 11 (35:17):
What was the more in this locker room? Obviously it's
been over two months since we tasting him win.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
What does that feel like?
Speaker 13 (35:22):
I mean no, it felt great.
Speaker 16 (35:24):
You know, Calf in there passing out game balls to
certain guys and it just it just felt great. They
was just coming here and celebrate with these guys. You know,
he worked really really hard through the weekend. You know,
it feels good to celebrate with him. You get one,
uh I did. I did get a game of.
Speaker 13 (35:41):
Dane Bobby Burns calf and then when he gave one
the calf for his his personally too.
Speaker 11 (35:46):
So what did you mean for you guys to get
that for him? Obviously he talked about it. He wants
to He cares about you guys more than sself. But
what do you mean for you guys to get him
that first win?
Speaker 16 (35:54):
I mean it it means like you know, he he
puts in a lot of time and effort, especially I
know on the offensive side of the ball, just making
sure that we're in the right position and right things
to do it.
Speaker 13 (36:02):
You know, he probably felt like last week.
Speaker 16 (36:04):
He didn't do his best job, but this week really
came in with a really good plan and you know,
we love playing for him. You know, he's a He's
gonna do everything that he can for us, So why
not go out there and give everything I got for him?
Speaker 2 (36:17):
That's one the Robinson after the game, Antiky obviously very
happy and excited for him.
Speaker 1 (36:21):
Yeah, to have such a big year.
Speaker 2 (36:22):
And look he's excited too, and he said it, who
knows what's gonna happen in the spring.
Speaker 1 (36:25):
I'm sure the Giants will love to have him back.
Speaker 2 (36:27):
I'm sure he left to be back, but obviously economics
getting involved in who knows what's gonna happen. But for
him in his fourth year at that size, with an
expanded role this year to the top one thousand yards,
he knows next week, next week he can get over
eleven hundred, which is a really impressive number. Just really
happy for him. It's and it's such a good kid,
and he works hard, he means, you know, just just
a really top notch individual. He does everything that's asked
(36:49):
of him. You know, he had some injuries his first
couple of seasons, but he finally found us footing, so
to speak, and he's developed into a valuable piece for
this giant offense. And the questions is not what whether
or not the Giants won them, it's at what number
and they're gonna want him at and whether or not
they're going to pay him like a number two wide
receiver or a number three wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
And it's a big difference.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
And so I get the sense that you know, it's
it's gonna be a tough discussion in the offseason with
his people, but I think he is He's proven that
he can play at a at a very high level
and do it reliably. You know, the Giants have had
drop issues this season. He's one of the guys that
you don't have to worry about in space making plays
(37:31):
when when the balls where it needs to be, no.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
Question about it.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
Dame Belton Wanda Rominson mentioned one of the players that
got a game ball. He also spoke to the media
after the game had that big interception. Let's hear from
Dame Belton covers.
Speaker 19 (37:43):
When we're in and being able to jump in his
own get the balls, like you said, what I love
to do.
Speaker 13 (37:48):
So it was good to get it.
Speaker 8 (37:49):
Turnovers seemed to be coming a little bit more frequently
recently as opposed to earlier in this season.
Speaker 19 (37:54):
Why do you think I just feel like we're playing faster,
being able to mix things up, disguised, being able to
be on the same page, and like really just everyone
knows what we're doing, where we're going. The picture is changing,
so I feel like everyone's working together, just disguise in
the picture and jumping the zones and making place.
Speaker 8 (38:11):
How much of this defense that we're seeing now is
a reflection of the personality of Charlie Bowen and how
much he's connected to you guys.
Speaker 19 (38:18):
Yeah, I feel like he's doing a great job ever
since he he got day one when he came in,
just being able to, you know, talk to us, encourage us,
have that fire, no matter what you know, the season
happened before, but being able to, you know, give us
that fire and keep going out.
Speaker 13 (38:30):
So I feel like he's doing a great job leading us.
Speaker 8 (38:32):
Speaking of fire, it was clear you guys having a
fire today when a lot of people would question, will
the team have fire?
Speaker 1 (38:37):
What does that say about you guys?
Speaker 6 (38:39):
It says a lot.
Speaker 19 (38:39):
You know, a lot of people say we had none
to play for it, but as men, as brothers, as teammates, like,
you know, we're gonna go out there and put it
online for each other. So that's just who we are
as men. It's an image of that and just being
able to get a win as huge. You know, no
matter how it comes to win.
Speaker 6 (38:51):
Is a win.
Speaker 13 (38:52):
Thanks time, thank you.
Speaker 1 (38:53):
I know that was Paul Dea Tino with Daan Belton
and Tikeno.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
You're very impressed with kind of the disguise that they
put in on that plan and just a nice anticipatory
moved by Belton to pass at the peck.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
Really was he was coming from really deep, so it
felt like they were lined up in a in a
A three shell like its massive shell. And then at
the snap of the ball you see in an interior
nickel or dime whoever it was, running back and then
Dame Belton is moving forward. So clearly they're inverting something
which confused Gino Smith and he threw the ball into
(39:24):
coverage and Dane Belton made a play on it. So
I think it's it's all that movement that at the snap,
just pre snap or at the snap movement that really
good defensive coordinators do really well.
Speaker 1 (39:37):
It's what it's what the Vikings do so well.
Speaker 3 (39:40):
It's what's Vans Joseph does so well up in Denver,
and Charlie Bullen is starting to do that. We saw
it on one of the sacks that that not abdu
quarter that Brian Burns had when he's lined up in
the in the in the well of a three front
defense and just at the snap of the ball, he
starts to creep forward like he's gonna take that that
bega ap right in front of him, and instead he
(40:01):
steps around it and goes to the other side b
gap untouched and has an easy sack on Gino Smith.
So it's the movement that gets confusing for the quarterback
to see it if he's throwing the football, but also
for the offensive line to sort out when you look
at the defensive fronts.
Speaker 1 (40:17):
We've talked about that with Abdul Carter.
Speaker 3 (40:19):
Abdul Carter has been so effective these last couple of
games because he's moving at the snap of the ball
and there's no one that can lock in on him
and say this is my guy, I'm locking him down.
All of a sudden, he gets on a guard or
a tackle or a center or whoever, and he's they're
not expecting him or not geared up for his athleticism,
and he's able to make plays in the backfield, either
(40:40):
in negative stops for runs or the couple of stacks
that he's had in the last.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
Couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (40:45):
Giants football is brought to you locally by Ford one

Speaker 1 (41:01):
We'll be right back.

Speaker 20 (41:08):
This is Jackson Dart and you're listening to Giants Football
on the Fan w FA N and w FA N FM.
Speaker 1 (41:15):
New York.
Speaker 5 (41:22):
Giants up seven to three. Paula the twelve Tracy emotion
to the right. Dart on the Design ron goes.
Speaker 1 (41:28):
Up the middles for the five to the go Locke touchdown.
Speaker 15 (41:30):
Giants.
Speaker 5 (41:31):
Jackson Dart on a design quarterback draw runs it in
from twelve yards out.
Speaker 2 (41:38):
That's Jackson Dart's first touchdown of the game, is first
rushing touchdown that gave the Giants the lead early.
Speaker 1 (41:44):
In the game. Wenna have Jackson dart downstairs in a second.
Speaker 8 (41:47):
What we do?
Speaker 2 (41:47):
I Paul Deatino, who's joining us, have to get him
before he gets on that bus to get to the
airport out there in Las Vegas. Paul Deatino, Welcome to
Giants extra point. Giants defeat the Raiders thirty four to ten.
And it must have been nice to be in the
victorious locker room for the first time in what two
and a half.
Speaker 21 (42:01):
Months, John, I was out of habit, to be honest
with you. You know, I'm supposed to do a quick
taping with Howard Cross on the field after I get guys,
you know, coming off, and I spoke to Wadero, Robinson
and Deontay Banks coming off, and then I ran right
into the locker room with the winning players and forgot
that I had to tape the spot with with Alard Cross.
That much out of practice. Yeah, I'll tell you something, Fellas,
(42:26):
and thinky, I'm sure both of you could even see
it on the TV. I don't even care about the numbers.
Arow twenty two out of thirty for two oh seven
nine rushers, forty eight yards and two touchdowns, But I
just got done talking to Jackson in the locker room.
His assertiveness, this confidence. They ran it up tempo offense
early in the game to get him started. It was quick,
(42:48):
easy throws. It was you ran on that back foot
and you get the ball out. This was designed to
jump start him, to get that firecracker going. In right
of what happened against Minnesota last week. I thought he
did a sensational job. This was one of his best,
if not his best game of the season. I know
he threw three touchdown passes against Denver, but I was
(43:09):
really happy with the way he bounced back. I know
Max Crausby didn't play. I know the Raiders are not
a very good team. I get all of that. With
the maturity and his resiliency, I just think he took
a big step forward today. And honestly, are there any
moments during this game where you wins where you felt
he didn't protect himself but didn't make a smart play.
Speaker 8 (43:28):
No.
Speaker 3 (43:29):
I thought he was great, especially all of those running
plays that he had in this one, including the one
going into the end zone ball where you know, for
the last five or six weeks, I've been talking about
Jackson Dart needing to learn how to take a hit,
and it's by getting small right, you get tight, pull
the ball in close to your chest, put your you know,
tuck your chin to your so if you go backwards,
(43:49):
your head doesn't smash into the ground and risk concussion.
Speaker 1 (43:52):
And you go into contact and a ball. And that's
what he did when he scored.
Speaker 3 (43:55):
Now, his helmet got knocked off because his chin strap
was loose, but I felt like he went to contact
the correct way on that particular touchdown.
Speaker 1 (44:04):
Run.
Speaker 21 (44:06):
Yeah, And I think, to be honest with you, Tiki,
the other thing that I thought I saw today, there
was one other one time where I really thought he
held the ball too long, you know, and he wound
up taking an unnecessary sack. But I thought his clock
was better in the pocket. And it was even once
or twice where I thought it looked like he wanted
to run, and he thought about it and then said,
(44:26):
wait a minute, I got an open receiver ten yards downfield.
Let me get rid of the ball and make it
easy play and get the completion. And to me again,
I know it's baby steps, but the guys are rookie
and anytime he can make a smart play, you're going
to be happy about it.
Speaker 3 (44:42):
I agree with that one hundred percent, and it felt
like today he wasn't flustered at all. Part of that
is because the Raiders play so much zone, they don't
really get much pressure, especially with Max Crosby out and
relying on some unproven guys up front. But I think
Jackson Dart did a fantastic job of just playing the
game that was in front of him and not trying
to press too much.
Speaker 21 (45:01):
Well. I think the other thing, of course too. And look,
we all have seen the Giants brow leads late during
the course of this season. Today, I just honestly thought
they would control of the whole game. And again I
understand the opponent. I don't want to disregard that because
a lot of people out there are going to say, oh,
you beat a two win team. The bottom line is
(45:22):
the Giants over the course of this season have made
a habit out of furthering games away. They didn't do
that this time. You got the special teams touchdown from
Deontay Banks, you got two interceptions, one from Belton and
one from more Karake. You got the Wandel Robinson outstanding
on hundred yard game, only the fourth of his career.
You got Jackson Dart playing smart discipline football. I mean,
(45:44):
in all honesty, I get the opponent. But this is
how you draw it up. This is how you win games.
Speaker 1 (45:49):
Yeah, and Paul, and it was all the phases, right,
you talked about it.
Speaker 2 (45:52):
The offense played well, they ran the ball while Jackson
Dart was efficient, took what they gave them, and then
you get the two takeaways on defense, the Belton pick,
you get the old Karacate pick. You get the kickoff
return for a touchdown with Deantay Banks. I want to
hear what Deantay Banks said to you about that play,
because we do not have him, I think on the
postgame show. I'd love to hear what he said to
you postgame about that play. But it was, you know,
the last few weeks when they've lost these games or
(46:13):
like it is a three phase team failure.
Speaker 3 (46:15):
This was a three phase team win exactly.
Speaker 21 (46:20):
They put it all together. Complimentary football, right. We keep
hearing that phrase all the time, John, and it was
clearly in play today. When I talked to Banks on
the field, he said he really enjoys the kickoff return
unit because he knows he's got speed. He knows he's
got moves, and you feels like he's got a shot
to break one anytime he touches the ball. And I
(46:41):
think we've seen on a number of these kickoff returns
he's made some really, really nice returns during the course
of the season. So one of the things I said
to him was, well, when did you feel it? When
did you know you were going to be gone? He said,
as soon as he made the first cut, he knew
that there was no way they were going to catch him.
And then my other obvious question was this season hasn't
gone the way anybody wanted it to, especially for you
(47:03):
defensively at quarterback. So how important has it been for
you to contribute on special teams? And of course there
was no better contribution than what he did today, And
he said it meant a lot to him because he's
really bonded with the guys in the special teams room
and it really really made him feel good that those
guys were so happy for him to get this touchdown.
Speaker 1 (47:25):
Well, anything else he got for us now right now,
I think the.
Speaker 21 (47:29):
Only other thing I can tell you, and I think
you heard my captors say, Javon Holland with the knee
they don't have any update on him, which, of course,
you know he did get off with some help or
off the field. Be ashamed because that's that's a guy
who's a real pro. And I know, but you know,
you know him in the locker room. John, he's always
a stand up guy. And I hope it's it's nothing serious,
but otherwise I think I think that's really it. Wandell Robinson, Uh,
(47:53):
he's he's you know you talked to him for the pregame.
He's overflowing with joy right now. He is just so
happy to get that thousand yard plateau because you have
a career year in a contract year.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
That's a good combination and effervescent paulvit Paulatino, who might
just float back from Las Vegas. Uh, alongside the seven
seven seven that the team will be taking back. Paul,
Happy new year, my friend, appreciate it. We'll talk to
you next week.
Speaker 21 (48:19):
I'll be on the wing.
Speaker 1 (48:20):
John, Paul Keno.
Speaker 2 (48:23):
Uh, he veted Jackson door in the locker room, Tatiki.
Let's listen to what the quarterback of the today. After
this game, you know, I felt.
Speaker 20 (48:28):
Like, besides, you know, the sacks, but you know, I
just kind of slipped on, and I just felt like
we were always ahead of the stakes and just got
just got.
Speaker 13 (48:35):
It sound football.
Speaker 8 (48:36):
You ran for a couple of touchdowns, and I thought
you also protected yourself extremely well.
Speaker 6 (48:40):
To me, it was another step forward you.
Speaker 1 (48:42):
Thank you.
Speaker 8 (48:42):
I thought it was another step forward in your maturity
and development.
Speaker 6 (48:45):
How did you see?
Speaker 20 (48:46):
Yeah, I like, like I said, like, I'm gonna continue
to learn, I'm gonna make mistakes here and there, and
I'm gonna bounce back from mom. I'm gonna have some
hits that I took early on that were you know
that I saw was kind of unnecessary, and then you
just make adjustments and uh, you know, at the same time,
you got to continue to just play your game. You
can't make somebody into somebody that's been oh so yeah.
Speaker 13 (49:06):
I just felt like, uh, you know, definitely played.
Speaker 20 (49:08):
Smart and you know, just got away from any of
the unnecessary stuff.
Speaker 8 (49:13):
Got to ask you about one guy thousand yards receiving,
only the twelve Giants player to ever do that in history.
Speaker 6 (49:19):
Did you know how close he was?
Speaker 8 (49:20):
We could keeping track because it looked like you were
trying to feed him the ball to get him there
as much as you could Yeah, that's my guy.
Speaker 21 (49:26):
That's my guy.
Speaker 20 (49:26):
I mean, I have all the confidence in the world
in him, and I know that he can beat any
coverage and he's just.
Speaker 13 (49:32):
A guy that competes at such a high level.
Speaker 20 (49:34):
So when you just have that trust with with the
guy out there and you can make checks on plays,
you know, to get him on you know, little option
routes and whatnot. And I think that he's just a
mismatch and you got to see today like what he
can do with the ball in his hand and making
people miss.
Speaker 13 (49:48):
But I'm just I'm just really.
Speaker 20 (49:49):
Happy for him because he's a hell of a player
and he definitely deserves it. In action giants things.
Speaker 9 (50:00):
Balt quarterback.
Speaker 22 (50:02):
What you hear about that report?
Speaker 10 (50:03):
Again, No, I did not hearing that. Is that.
Speaker 20 (50:08):
I guess it's coming process something like that.
Speaker 15 (50:12):
I think it's.
Speaker 20 (50:14):
I'm gonna continue to play it on ball. I know
I'm gonna be here for a very long time. And uh,
I'm just excited to you know, start winning more games
and you know, turn the space around and.
Speaker 6 (50:24):
Do my job and we have a bright future.
Speaker 20 (50:27):
And uh, you know, that was one thing that I
was just standing on the sideline and I'm watching a
dual ball.
Speaker 13 (50:31):
I'm watching d a ball.
Speaker 8 (50:33):
I'm watching.
Speaker 20 (50:35):
You know, Scott was here today. And when you just
think about like this rookie class, I think that, you know,
we have a really bright future and we're gonna be
a big pivot and and turn this thing around.
Speaker 6 (50:43):
Jackson, you talked to.
Speaker 13 (50:44):
Early that week about being psychologic.
Speaker 22 (50:46):
Yeah, how long did nine weeks without Wanna wins?
Speaker 23 (50:48):
Feel like?
Speaker 2 (50:49):
I wanted this?
Speaker 5 (50:49):
You would like to have a lot more like as well.
Speaker 20 (50:51):
Change way too long, definitely, way too long. We gotta
start doing this more because definite feels a lot better.
But you know, just looking for looking forward to this
playing fight with the guys for sure, just to you know,
kind of have that you know, good energy with every.
Speaker 13 (51:08):
Single one of us and then you know, just try
to do our best to to finish this this year. Right.
Speaker 6 (51:13):
I'm sorry, Jackson.
Speaker 9 (51:14):
You heard all week people talking outside the building about
this is the tank boll. Both teams are losing, Both
teams want the number one pick. Both teams are putting
guys on ILR, some for some reasons, some for other reasons.
You're pretty new in this franchise. What did you think
of this week? And did you ever have any doubts
that this franchise would approach the game the way that
(51:34):
it did.
Speaker 6 (51:35):
No, I didn't.
Speaker 13 (51:36):
I felt like it was just noise.
Speaker 20 (51:40):
Sometimes that just that just happens, you know, us not
really having the year that we've wanted, and people just
start talking. But from a player perspective, from a team perspective,
I felt like we were dialed all week.
Speaker 13 (51:52):
And you know, we needed to win, like, you know,
just a morale, just like some excitement.
Speaker 20 (51:58):
Finally, like we needed to win.
Speaker 11 (51:59):
And so we felt What was it like in this
locker aren't you say it? It was way too long?
But just what did you feel like? I knew this
locker run, feeling like finally after two and a half months,
you can celebrate a win.
Speaker 13 (52:08):
I mean, it feels it just feels great. You definitely
want to just start doing this more for sure.
Speaker 6 (52:13):
What was your favorite part about you?
Speaker 20 (52:16):
M I just felt like I was efficient, took what
the defense gave me, didn't try to force the ball
into unnecessary things when you know they're playing kind of
a deep shell and trying to keep everything in front
of them, and sometimes you know, those quarterbacks we can
get a little impatient because you want to have a
big play, but I felt like I was just.
Speaker 13 (52:37):
Played deficient and used my legs. I just felt like
I was, you know, in a rhythm.
Speaker 14 (52:42):
Really we'll take up all.
Speaker 6 (52:45):
Set.
Speaker 9 (52:46):
Is this the blend that mark that you need to
play with running the ball, throwing it? You know, I
mean maybe you want to have some more big plays downfield,
but you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (52:53):
I mean, you know, should not everything, and you just
seem to play today.
Speaker 9 (52:59):
You ran out of boundary, needed to run out of boundary,
bring for first downs, you dove into the end zone.
Speaker 6 (53:03):
I mean, it's just what you are.
Speaker 20 (53:04):
Yeah, I think that, you know, I think that I'm
a player that can do a lot of different things,
you know, throwing the ball. I think I'm a smart player.
I think I use my legs as an advantage. So
I just felt good to be back out there and
in a rhythm and thought the guys you played really
well to o line, blocked their ass off and did
(53:25):
a great job protecting me, giving me time. And you know,
the guys on the outside and the perimeter, we're able
to find the zones, make a great plays after the catch,
break tackles, and yeah, I.
Speaker 13 (53:35):
Just felt a green float.
Speaker 2 (53:37):
That's Jackson DARTIKI and you need to tell just h
we've heard him kind of deteriorate the last three weeks.
And I'm not talking about his play. I'm talking about
how sad he sounded in his postgame for US conferences, right, despondent, yes,
and he just sounded really really some relief in there,
but just happiness that he was able to a get
one devils thousand yards more importantly, walk away with a victory.
Speaker 6 (53:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (53:56):
No, Look, the the true measure of a good quarterback
is how you would prove the team around you, and
I think Jackson Dart has done that for some of
these some of these players, Wandell Robinson is the prime example, and.
Speaker 1 (54:07):
You see it every week. If there's one guy you
can rely upon.
Speaker 3 (54:10):
In fact, when we do the games that we play
the over and under the factor fiction as it always
includes Wandell Robinson because you know he's going to be
a part of the game plan. He's earned that, and ultimately,
as a play caller and as an offensive staff, you
have a responsibility to do that. It's not about pride
(54:32):
for a position or whatnot. It's about who has been
the biggest baller for US all season long, and Wandel
Robinson has fit the bill, and he's done it in
the appsence of Elaue Neighbors, which has been I think
incredibly important for Jackson Dart's development. We kept hearing at
the trade deadline, you got a trade for a wide receiver,
you got to get another wide receiver in here, but
you actually had one that was pretty damn good Wando Robinson,
(54:53):
and I'm finally and I'm happy that he finally started
getting some of the looks that he deserves.
Speaker 1 (54:59):
Yeah, no question out. He's played particularly well. Tikey.
Speaker 2 (55:02):
Before we say goodbye to our network, thoughts next week,
I think really big tests for this defense. They've played
okay the last two weeks. They did pretty good against
Minnesota last week. Nice game today against the Raiders. But
you know, we'll see who the cow is in the
playing next week. They're not playing for anything, but there
hasn't been any indication they're going to arrest any.
Speaker 1 (55:17):
Of their starters. It doesn't make sense for them. I
agree with Dustin, so I think it'll be a fun test.
Speaker 2 (55:21):
Yeah, next week, a let's see how the defense does
against they jit top five offense in the league. And
then let's see if the offense can really roll against
the defense that has pretty much let everyone roll against them.
Speaker 3 (55:33):
Missie, I would expect that the Cowboys under Brian Schottenheimer
in his rookie season as head coach, with Dak Prescott
as their veteran quarterback.
Speaker 1 (55:42):
Who's had a really good year.
Speaker 3 (55:43):
You know, I don't know statistically if he's going to
finish in the top ten or so, you know of
the MVP voting, but he's well over forty five hundred,
forty four thousand. Let mean, look, forty four hundred eighty
two yards he has on the season, so he's thrown
an this year, leads the league in attempts and completions,
(56:03):
He's got thirty touchdowns. So there's some pride with Dak
coming back and playing at a very high level. The
problem has been their defense. But with that being said,
the Cowboys are seven to eight and one, and even
though it doesn't mean anything they're eliminated from the playoffs,
it just feels good being above or at exactly five
hundred in this case because you have the tie you know,
(56:25):
earlier in the season. So I think that this is
a this is a it's an important win for the
for the Cowboys, and especially coming on the road here,
they bring people, right, the Cowboys either travel or there
are a ton of Cowboy fans that are gonna be here.
So despite this game not meaning anything, I think there's
gonna be a lot of people at MetLife Stadium.
Speaker 1 (56:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (56:44):
Heading into the this week, Dak Prescott was leading the
league in passing yards tied for completions of twenty five
yards or more, and third in touchdown passes right and
sixty seven percent completion right. So it'll be a good
test and we'll see what happens next week. We don't
have a day in time for that yet. I have
not seen that announcement from the NFL yet. As soon
as we have it, we will let you know. But
(57:05):
for now, it's time to say goodbye to the affiliates

but we'll see what happens next week and where the
Giants end up selecting in the NFL Draft. Thank you

Let's go to Nas and Pennsylvania. Notas what's going on?
Speaker 6 (59:31):
Man?
Speaker 1 (59:31):
How are you Nas? Hey?
Speaker 24 (59:33):
How you doing?
Speaker 1 (59:34):
Guys?
Speaker 24 (59:34):
Just want to first say happy holidays and happy New Year.
Speaker 22 (59:38):
Blessed wishes or you.
Speaker 1 (59:39):
Two guys, you most certainly appreciate the same to you, brother,
thank you.
Speaker 24 (59:43):
Listen, guys, I'm really this really has nothing to do
with the draft pick or anything like that. Knowing the
track record of this team, they would mess it up
if they had the first pick or the thirty second pick.
Speaker 1 (59:54):
But they got done one.
Speaker 2 (59:56):
They got fairness, they did pretty good with caught a
neighbors high in the first round as well.
Speaker 24 (01:00:02):
I mean, listen, that's that's true. That that's true, smulky,
But come on, those players were very easy determined pick.
Speaker 1 (01:00:10):
Like real Historically you're kind of right now now.
Speaker 2 (01:00:16):
I think there was some question of dunes versus neighbors.
I think there was some debate there, but for the
other ones. Yes, fair, fair enough.
Speaker 22 (01:00:22):
No, No, you're right.
Speaker 24 (01:00:23):
There was a debate with the duneesay and neighbors with
also Harrison and stuff like that. I'll give you that,
but but come on, those picks were really determined and
those are those are the picks that you should be making,
no question the pick, and this should not change the
perception and the direction that mister Marra and mister Tish
(01:00:44):
want to go towards the end of the season. This
should this win should not be the tipping point or
the tipping scale because I don't see a young core.
And as far as I'm concerned, Dart.
Speaker 6 (01:00:57):
Was Dables guy.
Speaker 24 (01:00:58):
It's not Shane's guy. It was Dables guy. So you
fired the guy that wanted the rookie quarterback. So it
makes no sense to keep Joe Shane on board moving forward.
And I'm really saying this as just a fan, like
who cares about the pick. I don't want the first pick,
I don't want the thirty second pick. I want to
move in the right direction, and I don't see that
(01:01:19):
with Joe Shane right now.
Speaker 3 (01:01:21):
So what you're saying is you don't have faith in
the in the direction of building out the team, and
so it's not really about the draft picks. So look,
the last couple of draft picks have been okay, Nas,
you know what, Like the last two seasons have been okay.
It's just the team as a whole hasn't really gelled
and it shown in the number of wins that you've
had the last two seasons.
Speaker 24 (01:01:40):
Yeah, Tiki, I mean, I really, I really agree with
you on that. Like the rookies that they've been drafting
the past two drafts, they've been progressing well, but they
have to play extended minutes because there's just no depths
on this team. And I really this is this is
the point that I'm going to point out. This is
what I tell all my friends. The best player on
(01:02:01):
this team has been drafted by the old regime, and
that's Andrew Thomas, right, the best player. And this guy's
been here now for five seasons. Who's the best player
on the team. It's still a Dave, gentleman guy.
Speaker 1 (01:02:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:02:16):
Well, I think I would argue, Nas, appreciate you, Sean.
I would argue that the Brian Burns acquisition was probably
one of the best free agents the Giants have brought
in a long time. I'm trying to think of the
last one that was fantastic. Maybe Antonio Peers.
Speaker 2 (01:02:33):
Yeah, I mean tactically that's a trade. But yes, I
understand what your point on that.
Speaker 1 (01:02:36):
I'm talking about it. I'm talking about the acquisition and
I'm gonna talk about it.
Speaker 2 (01:02:39):
I'm gonna throw Jermaina Luminor in that mix too, right
for what they paid him for starting right tackle that
turned out.
Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
To be a very good movie, It's true.
Speaker 3 (01:02:45):
But but I think what Nas was getting at was
which one of these pieces are building blocks? Which ones
are going to be here for the foreseeable future and
help this team eventually turn into a winner. And Jermaina
lumin Or, as good as he's been, he's a Fraigent's
a free agent.
Speaker 1 (01:03:00):
That's fair. We don't know. We don't know if he's
going to be here next year.
Speaker 3 (01:03:04):
We know that that Brian Burns is going to be
here for the extended future because he's signed an extension
and he's got sixteen and a half stacks on the season,
has been as dominant of an edge rusher as the
Giants have had a.
Speaker 1 (01:03:15):
Decade, it feels like, and so there have been some
good pieces, just not enough of them. Yeah, it hasn't
all come together. It hasn't.
Speaker 3 (01:03:22):
It hasn't even come close to coming together over the
four years that Shane's been here.
Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
Hey, look, and the Giants will make whatever decision they
make after the year in that regard. But I will
I will try to push back on one thing that
not said, because this is a narrative that I think
fans have taken over that somehow Jackson Dart was only
wanted by Brian Dable, not anyone else in the organization.
A general manager is not going to trade up into
the first round to select the quarterback unless he really
wants that player. Is that's the general manager's legacy who
(01:03:49):
his quarterback is going to be. So trust me, the
organization and Joe Shane, we're all in on Jackson Dart.
Does that mean Brian Dable maybe wasn't super duper enthusiasm
asking it didn't help spearhead it and really fight for him. Sure,
I'm not saying that's not true, But the idea that
Joe Shane would have picked the player he did not
absolutely believe in in the first round of the draft
(01:04:10):
is just kookie talk that that's not how any of
this works.
Speaker 1 (01:04:12):
Right.
Speaker 3 (01:04:12):
I think if there was any reservation from Joe Shane,
it was only about value, and that's the value of
going back into the first round or waiting to get
him in the second.
Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
Round, right, and which they did. They ended up moving
capital to go up and get him. So, uh, that's
the only thing I would I would push back in
terms of that that this is that whenever you draft
a quarterback to he's an organizational decision. It is not
a one man decisions.
Speaker 3 (01:04:34):
Because you're you're basically you're you're acquiring the on field CEO. Correct,
And it's the most and hopefully the organizational ceo.
Speaker 2 (01:04:43):
You could argue even you know, depending on you, I
want to way head coach, first quarterback, you could argue
the most important person in your building.
Speaker 1 (01:04:50):
It's true.
Speaker 3 (01:04:51):
It's true because if he fails and is not good
or doesn't come live up to the expectation, then everybody
is looking for a new job.
Speaker 1 (01:04:59):
Let's go to Chris and Beth Page. He's up next.
What's up, Chris, Chris?
Speaker 23 (01:05:02):
Hey, guys, First of all, to all the idiots who said, oh,
let's tank and get Mendoz and get rid of Dart,
I'm saying there's some professionals that actually was putting that
out there too. By the way, I hope they're absolutely ashamed.
It was the dumbest take before this game, and it's
the most ridiculous take after this game. Okay, so that's
all I'm saying, Just to all you idiots, you know
(01:05:24):
who you are, Please quote back in your hole.
Speaker 1 (01:05:27):
Hey, Chris, Chris could the only thing I'll say to that.
Speaker 2 (01:05:29):
And I think Ian Rappaport had to report this morning
after Giants winded up with the first pick they would
be open to all different options. But this is not
a draft where you're looking at an Andrew Luck level
prospect at the top overall pick. And look, if you
like a John Elway and Andrew Luck someone like that available,
you always have to talk about.
Speaker 1 (01:05:45):
It and think about it. You always do.
Speaker 2 (01:05:47):
But in terms of talent level, to me, there isn't
that much difference in terms of Dart Mendoza and physical talent.
So that's why to me, and you said this in
the pregame show, it wouldn't make sense to me to
make a switch there.
Speaker 3 (01:05:59):
No, it doesn't make next Now I know people want
to talk about it. Hey, you got to have the conversation.
You have to put all things on the table. Of
course you didn't.
Speaker 1 (01:06:05):
I just want to tell him to shut the hell up.
Now you don't.
Speaker 3 (01:06:07):
When you draft the guy and you know the guy,
he's the guy, and you run with him and you
poured him, and just because you move on from a
head coach doesn't mean that he's now doomed to fail,
especially for a guy who has the acumen that Jackson
Dart has. Now.
Speaker 1 (01:06:20):
Look I like Fernanda Mendoza, I have no idea what
he's going to be, like nobody does.
Speaker 3 (01:06:25):
Of course you don't, because he's quirky and he's weird,
and he's a nerd, and he's like some of those
things that you look at as a guy who's been.
Speaker 13 (01:06:33):
In locker room.
Speaker 1 (01:06:33):
You say, man, I don't know if that's gonna work.
It might work in Indiana.
Speaker 2 (01:06:36):
And he's not a super athlete, he doesn't have an
A plus arm. He's coached really well.
Speaker 3 (01:06:40):
Right, I hope it works for him, so because it
would be unique to see somebody like that, but you
don't see that very often. But the point is, and
I'll let you get to your second point here, Chris,
But you saw all the things that I saw coming
into this game, like, oh, the Giants are going to
evaluate Fernando Mendoza. That means this was a waste of
Jackson Dart and this place is a dumpster fire and
(01:07:03):
YadA YadA, So you know what this is. This is
the same as people thinking that the Giants had a
really really strong interest in JJ McCarthy a year ago.
Don't forget all of you that remember you remember the
Giants are gonna take JJ McCarthy. Everybody thought they were
taking JJ McCarthy. You know what the Giants are doing
or whoever is feeding this stuff to the media out
there as they're creating a very early, very maybe way
(01:07:25):
premature early narrative so that someone comes to number one
and tries to take that pick.
Speaker 2 (01:07:30):
Of course, we willing to take a quarterback a big
trade package, so we don't do it again.
Speaker 3 (01:07:34):
They're not gonna sit up there and say, hey man,
we're taking we're taking a linebacker from MYO State, or
we're taking the wide receiver from Ohio State at number one,
because nobody's gonna trade.
Speaker 1 (01:07:43):
They're just gonna sit to where you are.
Speaker 3 (01:07:45):
This is all positioning, and it starts way early, sometimes
than it used to. It used to not happen until
I don't know, early March. Now we're talking about it
in late December. Anyways, go ahead, sorry about that, and.
Speaker 23 (01:07:58):
I will add to this. By the way, I'm six
two years old, long time season ticket old of the Giants.
I've seen every play of every game, and I got
to say this. I was telling my son this. The
whole Jackson Dark feel, the vibe is so different from
what we've been watching. Even with God bless Eli. As
much as I love Eli, this is a quarterback like
we've never had before, Okay, and it's just to me,
(01:08:22):
he's going to be here the next ten years. I'm
knocking on wood. Hopefully he doesn't get hurt.
Speaker 22 (01:08:26):
But I like everything I see from this kid. He
didn't start to year out, you know.
Speaker 23 (01:08:29):
He came in obviously in Game four and he's just
been It's just it's a different look competitive. I enjoy
watching Giant games with this guy.
Speaker 1 (01:08:38):
Crazy to say that, Chris, I know what you're saying.
There's a swag and appreciate your coming.
Speaker 3 (01:08:41):
You're happy Holadays it's a swag about him, like there's
an aura about him. And I'm not saying that Eli
Eli's was different, you know, it was just it was
a different type of leader than Jackson Dart, That's why
I think. But you knew after a couple of years
he was just going to go do his ding. Yep,
you knew he was gonna he was gonna be good
(01:09:01):
and consistent and and be a leader because he made
plays on the football field and open led to a
couple of championships. But Jackson Dart feels like this new
modern era quarterback who walks around with his head ridiculously high,
his chest puffed out, saying, you can't tell me, Jack,
And it's like how Pat Mahomes behaves and acts.
Speaker 1 (01:09:21):
But he's also a great teammate. It is a loud
self confidence exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:09:25):
It's how Jack, It's how Josh Allen walks around and
carries himself. But there's a presence with his within his
locker room, uh with his teammates that everybody commends. And
so it's just a he's not shy, you know what
I mean. He's not and he doesn't need to be.
He needs to be good.
Speaker 1 (01:09:46):
That's all that matters.
Speaker 3 (01:09:46):
You can be however, that you can be shy, you
can be introverted, you can be loud and boisterous. The
only thing we really care about is are you a baller?
Speaker 1 (01:09:53):
Correct?
Speaker 3 (01:09:53):
Do you show up on Sundays? Can I count on
you every Sunday? And if the answer is yes, you
can do whatever the hell you want, and its ide
the intangiles. Sit at the library for all you what hell,
you can go sit at the bar all week for
all here. As long as you show up on Sundays
and be a baller, we're gonna embrace you. And Jackson
Dart is turning, is trying to turn into that guy.
And that's the intangible stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:10:14):
In terms of the tangible stuff, look, every young quarterback
has to progress in terms of getting the ball out
quick and on time, and defenses all that stuff that's
gonna take time for everybody. No young quarterback is great
at that first year in the league. But the natural
feel that he has in the pocket and the playmaking
ability that he has on the move, keeping his eyes
(01:10:35):
up when he moves up in the pocket, that stuff
that's hard to teach.
Speaker 1 (01:10:39):
You either kind of have that stuff or you don't,
and he right now looks like he has it. So
if you can build out the other stuff that you can.
Speaker 2 (01:10:47):
Get better at the repetition, and you combine it with
the natural playmaking ability. That's why I think there is
a chance for him to be able to put together
Maybe it's not, you know, top five quarterback, but even
if he can put together stretch of that type of
play with this playmaking ability, that's the type.
Speaker 1 (01:11:03):
Of player you can win at a very very high level.
Speaker 3 (01:11:06):
We were just talking about Dak Prescott when we were
with the with the National Network our affiliates, and Dak
Prescott has turned into a perennial potential MVP candidate. He's
not a candidate this year, but like, there's all he
finished second a couple of years ago. There's always that
feel that, man, this guy's gonna explode. He's like a
top eight quarterback in the league. But early on in
(01:11:30):
his career you weren't necessarily saying that. I mean, he
had twenty three touchdowns thirty five hundred yards. It was like,
all right, Dak is he's a winning quarterback. He won
thirteen games his rookie season, but that was because Zeke
Elliott rush for I don't know, fifteen hundred yards and
had twenty something touchdowns or whatever the heck it was.
It was bullyed by the running game, and so eventually
(01:11:51):
a guy who is built like that, like Dak Prescott is,
who can grow and learn make some mistakes, get hated
because by the way he was hated by his own
fan base.
Speaker 1 (01:12:04):
Oh you should't have got rid of Romo all that stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:12:07):
Fights through, that comes back, starts playing well, starts playing
at an MVP level, gets to the postseason, has failures.
Like it's funny, like I don't believe that Dak Prescott's
ever gonna win a championship, but I kind of I
root for a guy like that to push through and
win a championship. And you know, I think of like
Matt Stafford. Matt Stafford was the butt of all jokes
(01:12:28):
because he played on the worst team in the NFL
with the Detroit Lions, and we kind of took for
granted how good of a player he was on a
horrifically bad team, absolutely right, And then he gets traded
to the LA Rams and now, all of a sudden,
if he wins this MVP, he might be a Hall
of Famer, right, And if he messes around and wins
another Super Bowl, he absolutely is a Hall of Famer.
(01:12:51):
And he's gonna be remembered not as a forever Detroit Lion.
He's gonna be remembered for six years with the la Rams.
Speaker 1 (01:12:57):
So think about this, right, So, like the the evolution
of every athlete, as.
Speaker 3 (01:13:04):
Long as they have the health and the longevity and
the wherewithal to last, is determined by what you eventually do,
not what's happening right now. It's by what you're going
to do in your in your future. I mean, hell,
for my first couple of years, I was just a dude.
I was a jag.
Speaker 1 (01:13:18):
You know, they call him just a guy. I was
a jag.
Speaker 3 (01:13:22):
And then eventually I figured it out and became a
player that people were. They don't most people don't remember
the early parts of my career, at least they it's
it's it's so over glossed by the end that the
beginning doesn't matter. And I think Jackson Dart is having
a really good beginning, but he still has so much longer,
so much more heights to reach, and that's what I'm
excited about. And I don't want to start that over.
(01:13:43):
I mean, no, no, it's just I think it's a
nonsense conversation. But people want to have it because it
gets good clicks.
Speaker 2 (01:13:50):
I'll just throw one out of one other example out there,
just because he's having a big year this year, probably
the best of his career, and that's Trevor Lawrence. He's
top overall pick, super talented. This is his third head coach. Now,
they might have been an interim in there, might have
been before. If there was an interim in there somewhere,
I don't might be right, But finally now he's got
the right guy with him and Liam Cohen. Who would
have thought a trade for Jacobe Myers of all people
(01:14:11):
would unlock an offense that at Travis Hunter and Brian
Thomas Junior. But it has, and all of a sudden,
he's playing their best football his career in his fifth year,
when after last year people are ready to leave him
for dead, right.
Speaker 1 (01:14:21):
After they sign him to a big contract extension.
Speaker 3 (01:14:23):
Right, he's fourth in the NFL and passing touchdowns and
he's just he's just been consistent and has the Jacksonville
Jaguars after a helatious season a year ago, senting poise
to make the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (01:14:32):
Yeah, absolutely right, it's been fun to say, all right,
let's take a time out. We still got Brian Burns,
maybe some Bobby Okaac downstairs, Harvey Jack Carmen. I will
get to you before we wrap things up as well.
Let's take a time out. Giants extra point schmelt Tiki
up until Sunday Night Football.
Speaker 1 (01:14:45):
We'll be right back.
Speaker 4 (01:14:46):
You're listening to Giants extra Point on the WFAN Giants
Radio network.
Speaker 15 (01:14:52):
This is Brian Burns and you're listening to Giants football
on the Fan WFAN and Wfan FM, New.
Speaker 1 (01:14:58):
York Backyard Giants at your point.
Speaker 2 (01:15:00):
Brian Burns another sack and a half in this game
for the New York Football Giants. Second in the National
Football League in sacks down with sixteen and a half.
Just the heck of a year for Brian Burns headed
to the Pro Bowl hoping to be an All Pro
candidate as well.
Speaker 1 (01:15:13):
He spoke to the media after the game.
Speaker 8 (01:15:14):
Brian, you have cracked the top five old time from
the Giants single season sacking things with guys like straight
hand Lawrence Taylor JPP. What does that mean to you,
because I know you are very proud individual.
Speaker 6 (01:15:26):
It means a lot.
Speaker 10 (01:15:27):
You know the history of you know the Giants says
you know pass rush know for that pass rush as
you know, like the people who's his name a legend,
Darry you go here and across.
Speaker 1 (01:15:35):
The league, so you know what it means a lot,
and you know, just.
Speaker 10 (01:15:40):
Blessed man, blessed season was a blessing for me.
Speaker 6 (01:15:43):
Individually is not how it's been.
Speaker 10 (01:15:45):
It hasn't been going on how he wanted to overall.
Speaker 6 (01:15:48):
But I can't complain individually.
Speaker 1 (01:15:50):
I know how much losing hurt you.
Speaker 8 (01:15:52):
So how sweet is it to get a win today?
Speaker 6 (01:15:54):
Feel damn good?
Speaker 10 (01:15:55):
But I tell you feel damn good, you know, just
being on the winnings side the things, and you know,
being able to celebrate guys like you know Banks with
his kick return and everything of that nature.
Speaker 6 (01:16:07):
It's just it's a lot of fun where you winning.
Speaker 8 (01:16:09):
This team always has said so many respectful things about
you and your work ethic. But the consistency throughout the season,
it wasn't like you played five great games early and
then fell off. How important is that for you to
show everybody the consistency that you're there from start to finish.
Speaker 6 (01:16:24):
It's very important that you know.
Speaker 10 (01:16:25):
I try to, you know, stay within the scheme. You know,
I don't want to put any of my guys in
the back end and jeopardy as far as like doing
my own thing to get my stats. So I try
to play within the scheme and let the place come
to me. And like I said, I'm blessed man, they've
been coming to me and I've just been capitalizing on them.
Speaker 8 (01:16:40):
Is there one thing about Charlie Bullen that he's done
in the last month or so, is personality or maybe
just the way he describes things? Coach Kafka said, maybe
they trimmed some things back that has allowed this defense
to start playing better.
Speaker 10 (01:16:53):
For the most point, I just see he makes things simple.
You know, Charlie is very intense. He is very into
the game.
Speaker 1 (01:16:58):
So you know his energy.
Speaker 6 (01:17:00):
You eed off his energy because he's damn there a player.
Speaker 10 (01:17:02):
At some times, you know, when he gets when he
see me get a sacked, you'd always see a beat
in his chest. So you can always eat over Charny,
so you know. But other than that, he's been doing
a great job calling the games. He's getting real comfortable
with it, so.
Speaker 1 (01:17:15):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:17:16):
And by the way, just uh he's talking about Giants
historical sack records. Michael Strand obviously holds the NFL record
with twenty two and a half sacks in a single season,
Miles Garret and not get a sacked today, So he's
still one half sacked short Tiaki at twenty two.
Speaker 1 (01:17:28):
Yeah, but so he'll get it, but it'll be in
a game more, we'll see it.
Speaker 2 (01:17:31):
So sixteen and a half though, for Brian Burns, man,
I just feel like we got to show this guy
some love this he's just been so good this year
and just proing every possible and.
Speaker 1 (01:17:38):
Every step of the way he's been that way. There's very.
Speaker 3 (01:17:42):
I'm not saying a few, but it's it's rare you
see a guy who gets paid like that and then
still and then wants to prove it even more that
he deserved to be paid like that. And Brian Burns
is a is a is a is a true leader.
Where he carries himself, the way he plays every Sunday,
how he how he prepares obviously, and I think also
in how he's he's helping lead some of these young players.
(01:18:04):
I mean, you can't discount his impact on a kid
like Abdull Carter and some of his growth and his
understanding of what his role is as a professional. And
so uh, lots of kudos to Brian Burns and he
deserves to be all pro.
Speaker 1 (01:18:19):
There's not even a.
Speaker 2 (01:18:20):
Question yet, no doubt about all. Right, let's go back
to the calls. Let's wrap it up with Harvey and
Dick Hills and we got JACKI and Carman come up next, Harvey,
what's going on?
Speaker 1 (01:18:28):
What's up?
Speaker 24 (01:18:29):
Hard?
Speaker 18 (01:18:29):
How are you?
Speaker 12 (01:18:29):
I don't want to hear about tanking the worst team loss,
That's all I can tell you. That's was supposed to work, Yes, sir,
that's right. And talking about Jackson Dodd, I wanted him
with a number three pick.
Speaker 3 (01:18:42):
Uh.
Speaker 12 (01:18:42):
Somehow Shane got him moved into the first round and
got and who knew that abdol card would be available
trades into the first round. It gets to their franchise quarterback.
You got to give a change credit for that, you know.
And and the point of that to me is you'll
be firing everybody that was involved with Jack and DoD,
including Koka and Davill and Shange. That would be absolutely ridiculous.
(01:19:06):
I see no reason why they can't bring back the
whole team together at leased for one year. When I
understand Kofka is pretty close to Jackson Dodd tooth so
why not give another chance for next year? You know,
that's my opinion about that, the only one I ever consider.
Maybe you have an opinion about Kingsbury. You work with
Mahomes and Dangels. Maybe that's his chance to be an
(01:19:27):
offensive coach. I believe they should bring the whole team
back together again.
Speaker 1 (01:19:31):
Well I don't think that's going to happen.
Speaker 12 (01:19:32):
I don't think it's going to happen though, But I
think that Kingsbury. What do you think of Kingsbury?
Speaker 3 (01:19:38):
But I like Kingsbury. I think the machine has come
off a little bit this season. It's not really his
fault because Jayden Daniels got hurt so early in the
season and he battled that hamstring, then a knee. Now
he's got the elbow, and so he was working with
an inferior quarterback, and so it just made it much
harder for him to do all the things that he
(01:19:58):
wants to do because so much of his offense requires,
or at least his explosive offensive schemes that you saw
in Arizona and you saw last year with Jade Daniels,
require a mobile quarterback. That's six offensive player we always
talk about, and he just doesn't have it without Jacksonville And.
Speaker 2 (01:20:14):
I think the question is a coordinator or is he
a better head coach? I think that's a question as well.
Speaker 1 (01:20:19):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 12 (01:20:20):
Can I make one more point please? It's obvious to me,
at least it seems to me. It's my opinion that
Jackson Dodd is the best rookie quarterback, even though everybody
wanted to trade up to get give all their capital
for camp Ward. I think it's gonna be a good quarterback.
But I think that the one important player, the most
important player on this team is Jackson Dward needs to
consider his education. He needs to because safer. You know,
(01:20:45):
I believe in mandating those guardian gps. And there's I
want to ask your questions. Do you know about quarterback country?
A couple of years ago, the Eli Manning runs a
camp at Duke right. You know, I think that he
should spend the whole winner educating them, educating himself, be safer.
And I think he is the franchise quarter back for
the Giants.
Speaker 2 (01:21:04):
I really do maybe appreciate the car Harvey, thank you
very much. And by the way, nothing that happens in
a quarterback's rookie year is going to determine who's going
to be the best quarterback from.
Speaker 1 (01:21:11):
This class, right, But he even mentioned Tyler Shuck, who's
been phenomenal.
Speaker 3 (01:21:16):
He had last month, but he's only played in what
seven He's in seven or eight games?
Speaker 1 (01:21:21):
Games like that.
Speaker 3 (01:21:22):
So, I mean, the question, here's the thing, Who's who's
winning Rookie of the Year this year?
Speaker 1 (01:21:27):
It's a really good question.
Speaker 2 (01:21:29):
Is it?
Speaker 1 (01:21:29):
Is it Tyler Schuck, Tech McMillan. Is it is it
Tep McMillan.
Speaker 8 (01:21:34):
Who?
Speaker 3 (01:21:35):
I mean, he was the favorite because I think he's
gonna end up breaking the all purpose yards mark for
rookie in NFL history, So he's gonna he's gonna set
a record.
Speaker 1 (01:21:45):
Jackson Dart is likely in there as well.
Speaker 3 (01:21:49):
Trayvon Henderson for the for the Newland Patriots is a
good running back, but he's been banged up the last
couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (01:21:56):
I don't know. I think it might be McMillan, but
Tyler Shuck's got a good shot. Nine starts by the
way for Shock.
Speaker 3 (01:22:03):
Yeah, so I mean it's it's half the season, but
it's still only half the season.
Speaker 2 (01:22:07):
It is, But yeah, I think it's wide open really
for who's going to be it. I'm both sid I'm
trying to think of defensive It's not one that jumps
out at least not one that I can think of
off the top of my head. And for defender to
do it, he would have to be an elite pass
rusher have have double digits. Sad, there're a bunch of interceptions,
bunch of interceptions that like Patrick Peterson, you know, honestly,
(01:22:27):
you know who's had a really good year as a
rookie is the middle linebacker for the Brown Sweestinger. He's
honestly been phenomenal. But again, it's tough for a off
ball linebacker to win that award. Anyway, Let's go to
Jack and hacketts down.
Speaker 1 (01:22:37):
He's up next. What's up, Jack?
Speaker 22 (01:22:40):
Hey, what's going on?
Speaker 23 (01:22:41):
Guys?
Speaker 22 (01:22:41):
Happy New Year and happy victory Sunday?
Speaker 1 (01:22:43):
You too, my man?
Speaker 22 (01:22:45):
Absolutely, so listen, you know, I've everybody else. I've been
hearing the same stuff in the past couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (01:22:50):
So we got a tank.
Speaker 22 (01:22:51):
Oh we gotta get you know, maybe we've got to
get Mendoza. Reevaluate the quarterback position where there, like Aaron
Rodgers said, it best sports like ten years to go
are e l A X. We're gonna have a top
two pick in the draft we have And you know what,
like what I saw today from the team as an
entirety was just progress and just everybody clicking on all
(01:23:14):
ends of the field special teams, offense, defense. Even guys
like Deontay Banks, who even I you know, have kind
of written off the last year or two. He produced
phenomenally on special teams today. And if you want to
sign to do a contract, maybe make him a specialist
in that area. You can do that. But also you
want to you know about Joe Shane. Do you want
to talk about you know, oh, well, you know, we
(01:23:35):
need to get rid of this guy too. What has
he done for me lately? He's been drafting exceptionally well overall,
a lot of the guys that he's drafted have had
excellent rookie seasons that only you know, not even mentioning
that he brought by Brian Burns over here. But when
you really look at it, like I mean, you see
guys like Tyler Neuban and Drew Phillips and maybe some
other guys who I'm who I'm probably not mentioning, And
(01:23:56):
you've seen sophomore slumps. But Joe Shane isn't the coach
of this football team. He just he's in charge of
drafting guys bringing him over here. And that's as far
as he really goes with that and resigning content.
Speaker 3 (01:24:06):
And Jack, you're right about that. That's why the head
coach is fired. That's why the defensive coordinator has been
has been fired again. I like Dave Dave Buddy, I
thought I thought he was you know, had had a
real chance if he got if the roster got right,
But there were just some decisions that didn't pan out
from in game decisions, and it showed a little bit
too much Hubris.
Speaker 1 (01:24:27):
Hey, look, and in the end, it's a win loss
league man like losing that that's what happens.
Speaker 3 (01:24:32):
It comes down to the bottom line and the main
thing's got to be the main thing. And if you're
not producing enough wins, it doesn't matter how good you
are potentially in the future, you're not good for right now.
And so look, there is an argument for for Joe Shane.
We actually had it on our show Evan and Tiki
about two weeks ago, and we did it legitimately through
(01:24:53):
every single decision that he's made from every pick, every
free agent move, et cetera.
Speaker 1 (01:24:58):
I came I came out to a B plus.
Speaker 3 (01:25:00):
And as crazy as that sounds, because of his record,
the record would pull him down. Like his his team
record as a general manager is not very good, and
so it pulls him down.
Speaker 1 (01:25:11):
But from the moves that he made, you give him
a B plus.
Speaker 2 (01:25:15):
And at the look, not everyone's gonna hit on draft picks.
Drafting is very difficult. It's just a lot of it's random.
It's hard to predict how good of these players are.
Speaker 1 (01:25:23):
Going to be. Coaching is more important when and how
you develop those players. Coaching is much more important. Hundred
you can make. You can take an average player and
make him really really good. You take it.
Speaker 3 (01:25:33):
You take an above average player, you can make them great.
Coaching matters, and it really does.
Speaker 1 (01:25:37):
When those picks were taking.
Speaker 2 (01:25:38):
And again not that what draft experts say about these
picks matters, But if you look at where in these
mock drafts heating into the draft, you look at their
average draft position. Generally, his picks have been either in
line with where guys were supposed to get picked, or
he's even gotten better value than one on some of
those guys.
Speaker 1 (01:25:54):
Should have got picked.
Speaker 3 (01:25:55):
The only issue, the biggest issue is that his misses
have been bad. Evan Neil's a bad miss. Banks is
somewhat of a bad miss, even though he did return
a kickoff for a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (01:26:06):
Two first round picks that three and four years later
are not starters.
Speaker 3 (01:26:09):
Exactly, and you know you're debating whether they're worth having
on your team, and so that that makes it bad
because when you pick that high, you need to have
at least a pro bowler. I mean, at best, you
want them to be all pro, and you want them
to be potentially headed towards Hall of Fame careers. They're
a couple of these guys aren't even close.
Speaker 2 (01:26:28):
No, you're right, and that's obviously, you know the type
of things, and Joe Shane has talked about the mistakes
that he's made, and obviously those would slide into that column.
I think when you take back in and look at
the record, let's go to but again, we've seen other
good picks, some bad picks, and again it's a matter
of getting those players developed and we'll see what the
Giants decision makers do at the end of the year.
Speaker 1 (01:26:45):
Let's go to Karmen and Linden, New Jersey. Carmen, what's
going on?
Speaker 21 (01:26:49):
Hey?
Speaker 18 (01:26:49):
How you doing? Guys? I want to speak directly to you.
I respect you more than anything. And I do remember
your early part of your career when you had the
fumbling problem and you you're O but.
Speaker 3 (01:27:03):
But but carbon I wasn't even talking about the fumbling problem.
I was talking about the can you even get on
the field?
Speaker 1 (01:27:08):
Get on the field?
Speaker 8 (01:27:08):
Right?
Speaker 3 (01:27:08):
I mean I was just a third down back at
minimal and then I was a kick returner.
Speaker 1 (01:27:13):
It was just I was just the guy.
Speaker 21 (01:27:16):
I got.
Speaker 18 (01:27:17):
I remember. I remember that part too. I go, I'm
seventy six years old. I go all the way back
to that yak Or. I saw him play and everything.
And I've been a giant sand for all of those years,
and a Nick fan.
Speaker 1 (01:27:28):
Who might be the year might be the year for
the Nicks man let's go okay.
Speaker 18 (01:27:33):
And a villain over I went to you. So I
saw Brunson's career in the villain over boy's career and
the humiliation that the Knicks went through for all those years.
I got a lot of pride in the fact that
Brunson turned out around and what he's doing and interested
one o the guys, guess what I'd like to say
that I admit that the reason and I didn't use
(01:27:57):
the word tank, but that's I was hoping that. And
I believe I believe in Dort as the quarterback, not
to get Mendoza, but to get the bidding work and
the players that that the Giants could get by them
by them going up and them getting the picks that
they begets. That that's what what I wanted. I believe
(01:28:22):
that that Dot is their quarterback. The final thing I
wanted to say, I wanted you to tell me what
you thought that the Giants should do now with you know,
in their position. And I wanted to say one other
thing that I think that the the Giants should do
with Dort. The one of the callers mentioned I mentioned, uh,
(01:28:45):
I don't know. I'm a little bit older now. I
have to slow down for a second there. I couldn't remember.
Speaker 1 (01:28:54):
That's all right, But let me just answer your question.
Speaker 3 (01:28:57):
If you think about it, let us know before we
let you go here, because we're geting ready ye air,
but you're asking what I think the Giant should do.
But there's a need for linebacker and there aren't a
ton of them in this draft. Darville Reese as a senior.
He's from Ohio State. He's big, six' four, two feels like, long,
Long it feels like one of those big old school eighties.
Speaker 1 (01:29:18):
Linebackers he.
Speaker 3 (01:29:19):
Does and if he can run AND i will find
that out once we get to the combine and those other,
measurements and he's truly an, athlete can cover out of the.
Backfield that's an ideal. Guy another wide. Receiver and Again Ohio,
state because they recruit the best, players they get the best.
Players Carnell tate From Ohio state is a stud as.
WELL i know everybody talks about the other, Kid Jeremiah Jeremiah,
(01:29:41):
smith but he can't he's not eligible in fill twenty
twenty seven's, draft and So Carnell tate is. INTERESTING i
think they need to keep taking offensive linemen. ALWAYS i
think they need to probably second or third, round take a,
cornerback right They they need to build, depth like real
good depth at some of these defensive.
Speaker 2 (01:30:01):
Positions and if youture down To key by the, way
look At Sonny, styles the Other Ohio state. Insidelnebacker that
guy is a former. Safety he has Like Fred water
like skills.
Speaker 1 (01:30:11):
So we very remember those. Guys Fred warner is one of.
Speaker 3 (01:30:14):
Those brian Or lacker from as one of those a
safety who is big enough to play. Linebacker you, Cover they're,
aggressive and SO i think there's a lot of different.
Ways but, HONESTLY i think it's going to be, defense
defense first for The New York giants because that's where
they have some holes they really need to fill that
are wide.
Speaker 18 (01:30:30):
Receiver i'm sorry WHAT i wanted to, say AND i
respect what you had to, Say, ticky AND i understand
exactly what you. Said WHAT i think and it Was
eli the. Best the biggest fast set about What eli
was his ability to stay on the field right look
at over the games that he. PLAYED i think with
(01:30:51):
his camp and, everything And jackson dudd is learning how
to take a Full you talked about taking a, FALL.
Speaker 21 (01:30:57):
I think playing that.
Speaker 18 (01:30:59):
Position it's if The giants had him listen to what do.
Speaker 21 (01:31:03):
You how to?
Speaker 18 (01:31:04):
Say he must have had to take me.
Speaker 8 (01:31:07):
He.
Speaker 18 (01:31:07):
Was he was just listen to WHAT i said as
far as not getting hurt and, everything and it might
help him.
Speaker 2 (01:31:14):
OUT i appreciate FUNNY funnyli like throwing off his back
foot and. Everything why do you think he stayed healthy
all the. Time that's how you reduced the impact of
hits by fading awave is he want to Get.
Speaker 1 (01:31:27):
As long as you don't make that throw in a compromising,
position it's. All it's all. GOOD i. THINK i Think
jackson Dart is is he's learning slowly how to take.
Speaker 3 (01:31:38):
Hits AND i, know with all respect To, eli Because
eli was phenomenal at staying on the, Field He's eli
was not asked to do what the modern.
Speaker 1 (01:31:47):
Quarterback is asked to. Do stay in the, pocket young. Man,
Yeah and who was it was who gave this? Answer Joe? Flacco,
No i'm forgetting.
Speaker 3 (01:31:55):
Now he was describing the difference in how defenses are
run now versus how they were earlier in his.
Speaker 1 (01:32:03):
Career Kirk, Wanner Matt Ryan, Many, Oh, no it Was Kirk.
Cousins K.
Speaker 3 (01:32:06):
Cousins, Remember Kirk cousins was talking about how defenses have
changed so much where it used to.
Speaker 1 (01:32:12):
Be and you you hear, This it's a cliche that
we throw out at.
Speaker 3 (01:32:16):
Quarterbacks you gotta be able to read a defense and
you know the pre snap's gonna give you an alignment
and an idea of what they're. Trying to do to,
you and then once the ball is, snapped you reath
through it based on what you pre.
Speaker 1 (01:32:27):
Snapped. Right it doesn't work that way.
Speaker 3 (01:32:29):
Anymore and so what what happened is teams, started defenses got.
Smart defenses started, saying all, right you want to look
at this pre. Snap guess what when the ball is
snapped right, before it's gonna be something completely. Different And
i'm not talking about like subtly.
Speaker 1 (01:32:43):
Different is this cover two or cover? Four i'm talking
about we're a cover.
Speaker 17 (01:32:47):
Two, no we're gotta we got we got, zero, right
we got we got seven guys coming. Single all that
stuff to high like you get everything based out of
any look can turn into any other. Look is really
the reality it, defensively and so as a, quarterback it
is hard to sit up there and know exactly what's
going to. Happen all, Right i'm starting left here because
(01:33:08):
this is what this defense is dictating me.
Speaker 1 (01:33:09):
Do and so snap the.
Speaker 3 (01:33:11):
Ball i'm looking, LEFT i go to that progression that's not,
there get to the next guy that's not, There MAYBE
i find my check. Down you can't do that, anymore
and so so much of being a.
Speaker 1 (01:33:20):
Quarterback is about not.
Speaker 3 (01:33:22):
Guessing but taking what's given to you, immediately you know
WHAT i, Mean it's, like it's, there let me get
the ball out of my. Hands let my playmaker go
be a. Playmaker And Jackson dart has gotten.
Speaker 2 (01:33:31):
Really good at that and extending, plays, right so you
could figure out off. Schedule once they do declare and
guys get open or don't get, open you can extend
the play so you get those secondary routes that then
you can defeat some of those defenses right a hundred.
Percent and by the, way just For, carmen WHO i
know is talking about trying to get the top take
to trade down. Guys remember If Dante moore does well
in the college football, playoffs AND i Assume moregon will
(01:33:54):
and him And Fernando mendoza both come, out it is
going to be a two quarterback draft in the top.
Ten and if The raiders sucked first overall and it's
six the way it is right, now they're gonna take a, quarterback, right,
well guess.
Speaker 1 (01:34:05):
What and by the, way they might they might not
take for, right they might Take Dante, moore who knows
it's one hundred percent.
Speaker 2 (01:34:11):
True you never know who's gonna be the top quarterback
but that means there's one quarterback, left and you know
who then controls the draft with the second, Pick The
New York Football.
Speaker 1 (01:34:20):
Giants's, Right so who was the third quarterback in this?
Draft is there?
Speaker 2 (01:34:23):
One it could Be, Tyler it could Be simpson out
Of alabama if he decides to come.
Speaker 1 (01:34:27):
Out, yeah Ty.
Speaker 3 (01:34:28):
Simpson he's falling down to twenty on the big. Board,
yeah he's he's not really a top ten. Prospect and
then there is a cliff the size Of Mount.
Speaker 2 (01:34:34):
Everest, yeah and you might not find another quarterback to
like round, three like it's it's a long drop after.
Speaker 1 (01:34:41):
That so, Yeah i'm almost out of the top one.
Speaker 2 (01:34:44):
Hundred that exactly, right exactly, right so you can if
you as The giants in the picking. Second so technically
three the three that could go in the first, round
but it's really only. Two and it sounds Like simpson's
but gonna go back unless he gets guaranteed a high.
Speaker 1 (01:34:58):
Pick he might go back To. ALABAMA i means you
might just have too if he goes.
Speaker 3 (01:35:01):
Back To, alabama because he's gonna get ridiculous him and im.
Speaker 1 (01:35:04):
Correct.
Speaker 3 (01:35:05):
Yeah number four Is Carson back who was all the
way outside one hundred at one to, fifteen and he's
had an up and down interesting, season so you can
redeem himself as well in the PLAYOFFS Colls football playoffs
Because miami is in Over Notre. Dame but it's it's,
unlikely So giant fans don't get too. Upset you can
still control this draft with the second pick and make
a deal for a team looking up the draft a
(01:35:27):
quarterback with the second pick in the, draft assuming again
there's no guarantee worse coming out.
Speaker 2 (01:35:31):
Either he stoles a decision to. Make he's only started one,
year doesn't have a lot of. Starts he could go.
Back but if he comes out and The giants pick,
second you're still gonna be able to move down in
the draft and pick up some. Picks, Right So giant
fans no reason to be. Upset take the final thoughts
before we say.
Speaker 3 (01:35:46):
Goodbye i'm excited for the final week of the season
only because The giants can get on to next. Season
but it is The, cowboys and The cowboys are always
an interesting opponent because they come and force here to
met and The giants have not been able to beat them,
Exactly and so you know The giants are going to
play to. Win they're not playing to stay at number
(01:36:07):
two or hope that The raiders somehow beat The chiefs
and can get back to number. One they're playing to
win the. Game And i'm excited for This cowboys, game
a game that will be at obviously doing the pre
and post game and also, halftime BUT i just want
to see The giants play giant. Football AND i think
we get. It we saw it today against an Inferior raiders.
Team This cowboys, defense which we saw earlier in the,
(01:36:28):
season has been, PUTRID i, mean one of the worst
defenses in football for most of this. Season so it'll, be,
uh it'll be a good. Test BUT i think one
That i'm excited.
Speaker 8 (01:36:38):
For.
