Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Today obviously started off with Scatobow, you know, one of
our favorite players in the draft. Just the way he plays,
the mentality he plays with, the toughness, the competitiveness, the grit,
you know, good hands out of the backfield as well.
So just a darn good football player. So we were
excited to get him. Marcus bo He's a guy that

(00:23):
you know, we were a little bit surprised that he
was there when we picked. You know, we you know,
really liked his film. You know, he's had to see
another guy that was at the Senior Bowl that we
got to spend some time with. Just really athletic player,
has some position, you know, flexibility from tackle to guard.
You know, we think he can play both. Smart guy,

(00:44):
Uh finishes on film, you know you see him running
down on the polls and that stuff. Super athletics, so
you know, excited about him.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Thomas Fadoni out of Nebraska. You know, another Senior Bowl
guy that that we got to spend time with. A
lot of are these guys that we drafted Senier Bowl,
but uh, you know an athletic kid that you know,
he had a couple of injuries during his career. He
had two A cls, but high recruit out of out
of high school that you know we spent a lot
of time with at the workout and there's some untapped

(01:14):
potential there, you know that we see in him, you know, tough,
toughness as of blockers and plus as well. And then
Corey Black, you know, six foot two hundred ran four
to three press corner that late in the draft, has
some traits that you look for. He's also a tough kid,
good tackler, so has special teams value as well. So
excited about what we did today. Added some good football

(01:35):
players with with the right makeup and mentality that we're
looking for. You know, it's good additions to to what
we were able to do on Thursday and Friday. So
with that, I'll open up if you guys have any questions.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
You were surprised that was there? I think everyone kind
of was. Was there any red flags and medically that
popped up that causing.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
The slide or no?

Speaker 2 (01:52):
And we you know, we look at all the medical
and that that information is shared so you have an
idea of what other teams have on guys, and no,
it wasn't There were no real red flags from from
that standpoint. You know, when you take these guys, sometimes
you get texts from around the league from you know,
other personnel people or general manager if you took a
guy they were going to take and you know he's

(02:13):
one that there are a lot of texts just the
value where we got him. So yeah, I'm not really
sure what happened, but glad he was there, and that
that happens sometimes in the fourth round. You know, we
we liked, you know, guys in the past, and we've
been able to get him the fifth that maybe we
had in the fourth.

Speaker 5 (02:26):
So there's a lot of running backs in this draft, obviously,
seems like Scatable was just kind of different from a
lot of them for some reason.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
Can both of you say what you say one of
your favorite players in the draft? White?

Speaker 6 (02:39):
Well, he plays with great contact balance, He's tough as nails.
You can use him a variety of ways past game.
He can catch, he can run routes, he can throw
the ball as you've seen on one of those, and
he's he's got very good vision and quick feet. He's
you know, two hundred and twenty pound back who runs

(03:01):
with power, toughness and has the type of personality that
I think Joe did a great job of along with
the Scouts, of bringing in guys that have a lot
of toughness, you know, and even even to get Bow.
You know, credit Joe there again. You know, we're sitting
there talking about him or scatter Bow with that first
pick and he you know, he's like, I'm with scatter Bow.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
Uh, And then Bow was there.

Speaker 6 (03:24):
You know. However, many picks later, so got two guys
that you know, we're going to take scatter Bow left,
We're going to take Bow. So but toughness all the
way through the draft was something that you know, we
have talked about both mental and physical. I think scaut
Bow has got both, you know, not to mention the

(03:46):
other guys, but I know the question was for for scat.

Speaker 5 (03:50):
You mentioned that the toughness the idea, I mean, and
every guy we've talked to today, it seems like that
was one of the first things that popped out from
that duel. Even even Jackson talked about it. Why is
that or was that a vision for this team? Now?
I know you've had it in the past.

Speaker 6 (04:10):
Yeah, yeah, I mean think you always add add that
element to your team in both both areas. Mentally, the
challenges that goo of playing professional football and playing in
New York quite frankly, and toughness on the field. I
think we did add in free agency, and we did
that in the draft, So something that we covered. I
thought we did a good job of acquiring players that

(04:31):
demonstrate both of those things.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
I know you you touched on the identity thing the
last couple of days. You know, when you look at
a big picture this offseason, you know you too, uh,
free agent signs that you spend the most money on.
We're both on the defensive side. Two of your first
three picks are on the defensive side. Is that a
plan thing? Is that just is the way it worked out?

(04:54):
Or is that the identity you're trying to build here?
Build you know, the front set in particular.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Yeah, and Jordan, when you're when you're going through it
and you look at free agency, you only have the
players that available. So if there's not you know, a
number one receiver that hits the market, or you know,
Tray Smith is franchised by Kansas City and you're looking
at a right guard, so you're at the mercy of
what's available in free agency. And we were trying to
upgrade the talent, and I felt like we did and

(05:22):
this was an opportunity in the draft where we didn't
necessarily have to go with need. And there's been some
of that in the past, right or wrong. As we
finally built the depth and got the roster to where
it is, there was situations in this draft when three
guys were on the same line and you were able
to take the best football player and it lined up

(05:42):
that way. And you know, again that's I feel feel
good about the guys that we added, you know, because
of that was it a conscious effort. It was a
conscious effort to bring in you know, the right type
of guys with the right mentality that we cover it.
And again in free agency, there were some players that
we went after on the offensive side of the ball
and for whatever reason, weren't able to get them. But
we had an opportunity to get a really good corner

(06:04):
and a safety and Chauncey as an outside backer with
some inside rush and and free agency and that's just
that's the way it happened.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
So do you look at it now when you see
what you do have on paper, the way it worked out, Okay, Well,
that we need that to be sort of the strength
of our team.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Yeah, it'll all come together. Yeah on paper, you know,
until we go out and do it, it doesn't matter. It's
just on paper now. So you know, that's where this
time of year, Dave is doing a great job, and
the coaches and the players himself, they need to come
together and develop their own identity and what type of
team they want to be. And that'll start, you know,
once the rookies get in here. The vets are already
in here. So until we go out and do it,

(06:41):
and it's just on paper. So you know, I'm excited
to see how this team comes together. I like the
players that we have. I like the makeup of the players.
I'm confident in the coaching staff, and I'm excited, you
know for the twenty twenty five season.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
How much better do you think the roster is today
than when you ended the twenty three fourth season?

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Yeah, I mean, same thing.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
I just said.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
It doesn't matter what I think and till we go
out and do it. Dude. Do I like the guys, Yeah,
heck yeah. I like the makeup. I think they're they're
wired the right way, the right DNA. I think we
have the right people in this building and again, it's
it's up to us and the team to really start
to gel and develop who want to be and what
we want to be about in the leadership. You know,
step up through this offseason, understand what the standard is

(07:22):
and when we when we hit the grass in August,
what's that standard going to be? And we need to
hold everybody to the standard. And you know they're going
to develop their own identity as players and coaches to
to what this team wants to be. But again, on paper,
I I like some of the pieces that we have,
but it's it's up to them to go out and
do it. And you know, I have confidence in the will.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
When you're looking to evaluate toughness, you can look at
tape maybe and see it physically, how do you measure
it mentally in these guys when you're scouting them?

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Yeah, And that's we got an experienced staff with a
lot of a lot of good connections at colleges. So
you're you're you're asking everybody that's that's coached them, you know,
the strength coaches, you know, academics, you know whoever it
may be. You're doing a lot of research on these Hey,
at the All Star Games, we've had coaches coach All
Star games. That's a huge advantage for us, whether it's
Senior Bowl East West. So you never miss an opportunity

(08:09):
to have a touch point with a player or do
your research on you know, again, coaches that may have coached,
and Dave's has a rollodex of basically any player at
any school. He's got a guy that you know, it's amazing.
We'll be in meetings and I can call the guy
right now. So again, you try to talk to as
many people that have been in meeting rooms and in games,
or when you sprain an ankle in a game and
you come out, you know a guy that's been on

(08:29):
that staff and seeing how a player reacts, or you know,
when it's August and it's tough and it's you know,
you can't see the light at the end of the
tunnel during the dog days, but you know these sources
have seen these players fight through it and show the
grit and toughness to overcome that. You know, that's what
you're looking for. So again, hats off to my my
college staff. They do a great job, you know, at

(08:50):
the research in the off season, the information that they
gather on these players that you know a lot of
these players be on the board in a position for
us to draft them.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
Made the announcement one.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
Option, Yeah, we're not going to exercise Evans fit your option.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
And now that you're through the draft, position is he
primarily going to be working at.

Speaker 6 (09:08):
We haven't been on the practice field yet, so you
haven't told him or you haven't thought, yeah, we we
have an idea of what we're going to do, but
we'll uh. You know, he'll be flexible. He'll do anything
he can do to help the team.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
You see scat the lineman, you see him as a tackle,
Yeah with it. You see him as a tackle and.

Speaker 6 (09:34):
Go with Scat and then was good. Yeah, no, he
he did a good job playing tackle. You know he's
he's athletic, he can bend. I think he's got, like
Joe talked about, some position flexibility to move inside if
we need him to. We'll start him out of a tackle,
is the plan. But I think you know, once you
get to those type of you know, down the line lineman,

(09:55):
if you will, you know, position flexibility as you as
you know is important, but we'll start him out of a tackle.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
In regards to so you not have four quarterbacks a
rookie who you're going to try and develop raisers the
first round pick, and then two other quarterbacks who are
going to need to learn the system. How do you
plan on going about making sure that they get enough
reps and how he and developing quarterback?

Speaker 6 (10:21):
Sure, fair question. We'll have a plan for that. We're
working through that. You know, we kind of did that
a little bit at Buffalo with Josh in terms of
the initial plan of how we wanted to approach it
and the reps that we needed to take and the
things we wanted to see him do. And you know,
Jackson will get a fair amount of reps, you know,
with the threes, and you know, maybe you'll see him

(10:43):
in there, sprinkle him in when he doesn't know that
he's even supposed to go in there, and just to
see how he reacts being in a different atmosphere. He
won't know when or or why. But and then continue
to work with, you know, with the.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Two older guys.

Speaker 6 (10:56):
So again, it's a little bit unique because you got
two quarterbacks that are just learning our systems. So they've
only had four meetings.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
So by the time.

Speaker 6 (11:06):
Jacks gets here, he's not gonna be too far behind
where you got. You know, sometimes you got guys that
have been in there for three, four or five years,
and it's good with Tommy in there because he has
pretty good familiarity for what we need to do. So
they have a good chemistry in there right now with
Shaye and kaf when they're in there and they're talking
about things, and you know, they give their input from
the experiences that they've had and Tommy gets input of

(11:29):
you know, this is how we've done it, and it's
it's been good. So we'll add Jacks to the mix,
and you know, we'll have a plan to work with
him each and every day.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
Like Snacks, You're.

Speaker 6 (11:42):
Like, res, I disagree with you that strongly.

Speaker 1 (11:46):
For reps for your back quarterbacks during the regular season,
Like do you have to adjust that when you have
a rookie quarter.

Speaker 4 (11:53):
You'll find a way that he's not playing to get him.

Speaker 6 (11:56):
Yeah, we'll we'll talk. We'll talk about that when when
the times come. We'll focus on Phase one and Phase
two and Phase three and then training camp and you
know there's some time for that.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
But we'll have a plan.

Speaker 6 (12:05):
We'll have a plan for for not just him, for
all the guys that are young guys coming in, But
that's a you know, that'd be an important plan for Jax,
and I look forward to executing that plan with him
