Speaker 1 (00:02):
Yeah, injury updates.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Sure, So Jackson's still in the protocol, So as a result,
he'll be out for this Sunday's game. A debo will
be out Fordoni and uh caveon.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
Like Jackson's ruled out he said Sunday, Yes, okay, do.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
You have any details about what you know setbacks or
delays or what happened there?
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Yeah, you know, he's just he's just in the protocol
and that's where you know, he's just working through that
phasing of it. And so based on the test thing
and the results with this, we're declaring him out for
this week.
Speaker 4 (00:34):
Is there any setback along the way?
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Like did he have to go back in the protocol
like the steps last?
Speaker 2 (00:40):
I just I think the like the protocol is the
doctor's handle that protocol, Like I have nothing to do
with that. So and where he's at, that all goes
through the doctors, the independent independent doctor as well, so
they make those determinations on where he's at.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Even though obviously you have to respect the process with
the doctors. How does that affect you're just planning football play.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah, No, there's a lot of respect for the doctors
and what the job they do on a day to
day basis handling all our players. Then that's our job
as a coaching staff is do it just and continue
to build our guys up for the guys who are
the backup roles or next man up mentality, stepping up,
being prepared and being ready to go for Sundays.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
Obviously, Jamis will take the first team reps today. Did
he get any first team reps Wednesday or Thursday?
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Or where are those all?
Speaker 4 (01:23):
Jackson?
Speaker 2 (01:24):
And now it's Jamis, Well, I mean the reps and
all that stuff. I'll kind of keep it in house.
But but Jackson got some work with with with those
groups as well as Jamis.
Speaker 5 (01:33):
What if anything will Jackson do today?
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Well, he's again we'll talk with the doctors and exactly
what we want him to do. Again, he did work yesterday,
He'll continue to work today to what extent that will
just be up with arms decision and the doctors after.
Speaker 5 (01:47):
Talking about this is based strictly on the doctors and
the protocols, not you guys saying we're going to hold
them out to be cautious.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
It's strictly yeah, we're just we're just living by the
protocol and what the doctor's opinions are Yep, you're surprised
by the deciding result, Like I mean, obviously hadn't taken reps,
so that did you.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Were you hopeful and how you have to kind of
switch gears, switch plans.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Yeah, No, my only concern was just making sure Jackson's
healthy and right. And again, we have a lot of
trust in the doctors. We have a lot of trust
in that process going through the concussion process. I know myself,
I've had a couple of concussions over the course of
my career, and you know, you just want to feel
comfortable and good, and so I think having that trust
and understand that everyone's just looking out for your best
interest is important, and we are certainly doing that with
(02:32):
Jackson and wherever he ends up getting to in this
in this concussion protocol, which is again it's like very
vague term that again as a coach, like I'm not
I'm not a medical professional, so I'm not going to
speak on the process, but I trust it right and
some of our best people in the medicine world are
in it, and they're giving them the great, great opinions
and making sure everybody who has to go through this
process is in the right shape.
Speaker 6 (02:52):
Having an answer before you take the field for practice today?
Was that important from a coaching perspective to know, let
the team know, let Jamis know, let Jackson know about
where you are your final day comparing for something.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
The beauty, the beauty of jamis the beauty of our
group on offense and defense and special teams is our
guys prep.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
They put the work in. They're preparing themselves to play.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Whether they're a practice squad guy or they're a backup
in a primary role, they're prepared and they're asking questions
and they're you know, they're detailing out there work throughout
the work week. So no surprise to me that Jamis
is ready to go. I have full confidence in them
and just like I did last week, and we'll just
keep on carrying on and then Jamis will carry the
torch for the group.
Speaker 5 (03:32):
Jackson's been uh examining for concussions here and obviously this
is the first one diagnosed here. Has he had concussions
in the past.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
I'm not going to get into the medical health of
the medical history with Jackson, but you know, we're just
where we're at right now, and we're just going to
take care of that business.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
First, there's a lot of teams in this situation where
the alternatives are guys that might be less comfortable Searn
cos obviously you have two guys who have been around
a long time. Man, I assume Famous is the kind
of guy you don't have to worry about the short
notice thing.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Yeah, he's a pro. He's a true pro.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
And the way he prepares, the way he approaches the
day even in whatever really whether he was the starter
or the backup or the third, he's prepared.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
The same way.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
So his consistency is has been a good thing and
something you can bank on, something you can lean on.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
And in his veteran leadership as well. Just he is
he is going to.
Speaker 5 (04:25):
Start for you on Yes, Jones popped up as let
me to just today. Is that anything that's concerning for
his stats for Sunday?
Speaker 1 (04:34):
I would know. I want to be concerned about that.
When you have roptations, they're going to call it a position.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
Do you communicate with that with players before the game
or is that something that takes place during the game.
How do you manage that?
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Just now?
Speaker 5 (04:45):
As the substitutions, well not substitute. If you take a
guy out of the game put it from is that
something you guys talk about beforehand or is that something
happens live on Sundays.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
I think they're two different, two different kind of questions.
The first the substitution part of it. Yeah, rolling at
different personnel groupings, different people in different spots based on
the down distant situation.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
In terms of like.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Subven again a guy in or out, I'd say it's
fairly similar. Like a lot of guys get a lot
of reps at you know, receiver, you know, or different
spots of receiver. They're playing the X, they're playing the Z,
they're playing the F. So that's like pretty common and
pretty normal. Same thing in the back end, they're playing corner,
they're playing nickel. They have to be able to overlap that.
If we're playing in like a dime personnel grouping, now
they're playing like a linebacker type position. So you know,
(05:28):
there's definitely a lot of different roles to those guys,
and we have a lot of pieces that can play
multiple roles. Some people can play inside, play outside, play
safety Nix one of those guys that can kind of
do it all as a Swiss Army knighte for us,
So I'd say it's kind of the flow of the
game as we're as we're rolling with it. There is
communication that goes back and forth between the coaches if
we're making a change move for or an adjustment. But
(05:48):
it's not like every single substitution is getting like recorded
over over the headset. It's it's common like we talk
through those substitutions in the personnel grouping. So I'd say,
to answer you questions, is probably a little bit of
mix above, but that's pretty common form across the league.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
You're not a doctor, but when you were watching Jackson
out there, did he seem normal?
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (06:11):
Any indication of anything out of the ordinary as you
watched the practice.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Yeah, Jackson looked. Jackson looked like as romal self look great.
Couple more.
Speaker 5 (06:20):
Do you expect that the tape banks coy black rotation
to continue?
Speaker 1 (06:25):
I'll do Or would you like to settle? Do you
and Shane like to settle on that one guy? Sorry
I missed the last part of that. Go ahead. Do
you expect that tape Bank's coy black rotation to kind
of continue?
Speaker 5 (06:37):
Would you and Shane like to settle on that one
guy on the outside?
Speaker 2 (06:41):
You know, I think I think that's it's it's a
it's a nice flow that we have that there's an
ability to kind of move guys in and out and
create some rhythm for him. So, you know, as we
get into each game's gonna be a little bit different,
So we'll see what the what the kind of packages
we need those guys in for. The coaches have been
doing a good job mixing them in and mixing and
matching it, so you know, each game will be a
little bit different, and we'll approach.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
That the same way. This week. Back, I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Back.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Yeah, he's back. He's back. Dave's healthy, mom is healthy,
so all good news.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
He get you. I was various look to you this week. Yeah,
he came back yesterday. He's progressing nicely. He's progressing nicely.
I like his chances of the game.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
Did you go through the end of the season. Is
it still all about winning or sometimes teams in this
situation want to take a look at younger guys and
maybe mix guys into different roles And is there any
that long term evaluation or is it just what gives
us the best chance to win?
Speaker 1 (07:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (07:31):
I thinks I would agree with you. It's just what
gives us the best chance to win each week. That's
all our focus is is on this week and really
just today. I mean today is a great Friday. We
have a great Friday practice roll around for us, getting
us ready to go win a game on Sunday. And
we got we gotta put in the work though, I mean,
the workday is not over, and that's going to give
us the best chance to do that.
