State Giants Draft we capt Live, brought to you by
Clancy Relocation and Logistics, the official moving and relocation partner
of the New York Giants.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
We're the twenty fifth pick in the twenty twenty five
NFL Draft. The New York Giants select Jackson dart Urter
back Mississippi.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (00:28):
Here's John Schmelke.
Speaker 5 (00:31):
Good morning, everybody, and welcome the Giants Draft Recap Live,
presented by Clancy Relocation and Logistics, the official moving and
relocation partner of the New York Giants. Right here on
the fan, Schmelk, Paul Datino with you. We will take
your calls a little bit later at eight eight eight
eight oh eight one zero one nine. Thank you for
being with us, everybody. It's been a long few days.
(00:55):
There are still some gas left in the tank. We
will use all that gas for you this morning as
we take you for the next two hours talking about
not just what the Giants did in the draft, but
the NFL Draft in general. Tony Pauline, our draft expert,
he'll be with us in the nine o'clock hour to
talk about the draft in general and get his take
on what the Giants did. We're gonna have an exclusive
one on one interview, so I guess two on one interview.
(01:16):
Paul and I both did it, with Joe Shane coming
up in our next segment, probably around like eight fifteen,
eight twenty, and then over the course of the show,
we have exclusive interviews that were conducted on their draft
nights with Abdul Carter, Jackson, Dart and I will see
if you have time to get to Darrek Xalasander and
Cam Scataboo as well. Big show should be a lot
of fun, and of course we'll take your calls. As
(01:37):
I mentioned at eight eight eight, eighth, eight one zero
one to nine, Paul.
Speaker 6 (01:40):
Tatino, good morning.
Speaker 5 (01:42):
The New York Giants drafted seven players over the course
of seven rounds, and we talked about the needs this
team had when we had our preview show on Wednesday night,
also right here on the fan, and they checked a
box on pretty much every.
Speaker 6 (01:59):
One of the those top needs.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
We talked about defensive tackle, power, running back, or running back.
I was more for the power, but running back offensive
line cornerback. And even though the corner was drafted in
the seventh round, you're gonna hear from Joe Shane later on.
He was not necessarily just a special teams pick. They
do think that there was some corner back potential at him.
Speaker 5 (02:24):
Well, he's six foot almost two hundred pounds and he
ran a four to three five, so there are physical
skills there to play corner.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
So we will talk about Corey Black a little bit
later on during the program, of course. And then the
elephant in the room was that they did get themselves
a young, potential franchise quarterback as well. So if you
looked at the checklist and you started marking them off,
you have no empty boxes this morning, at least as
far as I can tell. When you looked at the
(02:51):
giants priorities going into the week and then to boot,
they picked up a tight end who although he had
two acls, I mean that could be tough, he came
back from that had two successful college seasons and as
you said to me, John.
Speaker 7 (03:07):
Hey this guy can catch the ball.
Speaker 6 (03:09):
And yeah, and he's a good athlete.
Speaker 5 (03:11):
And I know people don't like hearing combine numbers, but
just watch him on his tape he can move, and
then the combine numbers confirmed what you saw on tape.
So and for Doni's at Paison, yes he is. So
let's let's roll through the seventh picks here real quick
before you take our first break. And then again we're
gonna hear from Joe Shane. So Abduel Quater a third. Overall,
we talked about this last week, Paul. He was one
(03:33):
of the two or three or four depending on how
you wanted to break it down, a non quarterback position
blue chip players in this draft. Last twelve sacks last year.
He's been compared to Von Miller by people we had
on during the week. In this Joe Shane interview, you're
gonna hear coming up, he mentions von Miller in respect
to Abdual Carter.
Speaker 6 (03:52):
The tapes off the charts, the guy.
Speaker 5 (03:54):
He was here on Friday touring the facility, had a
chance interacting with him very very briefly. Just kind of
has a very serious intensity and edge to him, just
the way he walks around, and I feel like that's
what you want out of a defensive player. So that
and Joe Shane Stead at his press conference, that was
an easy pick. They got to the thing, he was
the highest guy.
Speaker 6 (04:14):
On the board.
Speaker 5 (04:15):
It probably wasn't very close, and they picked Abduel Carter.
You can't go wrong. Premium player, premium position, check the box.
Speaker 7 (04:22):
His glare can hurt you.
Speaker 6 (04:26):
I mean, you know, his neck was like the size
of my thigh.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
His neck.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
He's sturdy all the way through, from top to bottom.
He is extremely sturdy. And remember, folks, at about two
hundred and fifty pounds, give or take a couple of bounces,
he is still growing.
Speaker 7 (04:42):
He's got some maturity to do. He's gonna put on
some beef.
Speaker 5 (04:45):
He's actually built a little bit like Jesse Armstead. I
saw him kind of staying next to each other a
little bit.
Speaker 6 (04:49):
Jess is pretty cut too. No, he is absolutely for sure.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
But again, if you want to look at the numbers
in terms of hide and weight, he actually is built
very similar to what ociuman Euro was when he was here.
In terms of frame around six three two fifty. That's
around what oc was as well. So just to keep
in mind that's where he is. You mentioned Jackson Dart Paul,
we should give you the details on the trade. So
if the Giants moved their thirty fourth pick in this draft,
(05:14):
I'm sorry, thirty fifth pick in the draft, which was
the second pick of the second round. They traded that
along with their compensatory third round pick. They're picking ninety
nine and their third round pick next year to move
back up into the first round to pick twenty five
with the Houston Texans, and they selected Jackson Dart, the
quarterback out of Ole Miss. We talked about last week
the decision they were going to have to make as
(05:36):
to how much collateral they were going to have to use,
how much they would be willing to use to move
up to select a quarterback, how far up they were
going to have to go. We talked about the possibility
of the Steelers passing on Shad or Sanders at twenty
one and how that might make the move a little
less urgent because there were more quarterbacks on the board.
That's exactly what ended up happening. So they go up
(05:59):
to twenty five with Houston again. You lose pick thirty four,
but then you only lose pick ninety nine. You hold
on to pick sixty five, which is a more premium pick. Obviously,
it's you know, ninety nine is closer to a fourth
round pick being at the very end of the third
round than it is being in the meat of round
number three, and then you trade a third round pick
next year, so.
Speaker 6 (06:18):
You're really not trading any premium.
Speaker 5 (06:21):
Capital except for that thirty fifth overall pick to get
a guy that now you hope can slowly develop giant fans.
And I'm going to stresses throughout this conversation with Jackson
Dart after, you know, if they lose a couple of
games orally, don't call off the fan and say, Jackson
Nort's got to get in there and play.
Speaker 6 (06:38):
That's not what this pick is. No, he has a
lot of work to do.
Speaker 5 (06:41):
He comes from a great offense with Lin Kiffin in college,
with a lot of NFL people that helped him along there,
including former Giants head coach Joe Judge. And while there
are some common elements to the offense at ole Miss
in terms of concepts, and Brian Dable talked about that,
it's not your full blown NFL off where you're running like,
you know, a couple dozen different concepts. You spam the
(07:03):
same type of concept around, you know, eight to ten,
eight to eleven times. So there is development here that
has to happen with him to learn the NFL game
and get ready. There was no surprise that at the
press conference after the Giants drafted him, one of the
first things out of Joe Shane and Brian Dabele's mouth
is that Russell Wilson's going to be the started quarterback.
They made sure they got that out very quickly. So
this is a guy that was not picked in the
(07:25):
top five. This was not Eli Manning who was the
first half overall pick. This is not cam Ward that
was the first overall pick. This is a player that
the Giants are going to be patient with. Fan should
be patient with. Let him marinate, let him develop, and look,
who knows, maybe things go swimmingly and he develops really
quickly and Bridandable thinks he's gonna be ready a little
bit earlier. That's fine, that's gonna be the coach's decision.
(07:48):
But I think going into this fans have to realize,
to quote Carl Banks, this is not just add water
NFL starting quarterback type of situation. There's gonna be a
developmental process that Brian Dable did talk about in the
press conference. They're gonna come up with a really detailed
plan to do this the right way and they're not
going to rush it.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
Well, you'll remember when Good Warner was here and Eli
Manning was a rookie in two thousand and four, there
was no set plan as to when Eli would get
his first start. It just was not in place at
the beginning of the season.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
It turned out to be game ten that year, right,
because Warner had led them to a five and four record.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
But again, the offensive line was a mess. We've talked
about that many times. Water would hold onto the ball
a bit too long, he would get sacked, he would fumble.
It became a little bit of an issue there, and
Tom wasn't real thrilled with that. And then also the
defense was a little bit banged up, and so that's
when they pulled the trigger.
Speaker 5 (08:42):
And by the way, just for the record, Eli probably
wasn't all that ready at that point either. No for
a year was a disaster, but it helped them get
ready for future.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
Yes, correct, because I think with Tom Conflent, if you
could talk to him now in retrospect, he would tell
you that even though Eli was pushed in a little
bit early, he did win that final game of the
season against the Dallas Cowboys, and then in two thousand
and five, it had given him a huge head start
on getting that season underway.
Speaker 6 (09:12):
And he made the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
And Eli has said that, and Peyton has said that too.
I saw a Payton doing an interview talking about quarter development.
He actually brought that up himself. How Eli has told
him how much it helped him, frankly getting the you
know what beat out of him and in the final
you know, the seven games of that year.
Speaker 6 (09:28):
If you remember the Ravens game that year, it was ugly,
it was bad. Remember the hit was Jeremiah Trotter put
on him in the Eagles game too, right, we got
absolutely obliterated.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
No, it wasn't Trotter hit Figals. Trotter hit Figels. Yeah,
it was the defensive lineman. I want to save Miami,
the Hurricane former defensive lineman.
Speaker 5 (09:47):
Either way, he got absolutely obliterated when they played the
Eagles that year as well.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
But the point being, don't go into Jackson Dorrit's NFL
career having a schedule for when he's going to do this.
Are that correct, It will be fluid and it will
develop naturally.
Speaker 5 (10:04):
All right, let's get to the next pick. We'll kind
of motor through these a little bit more quickly. Paul
Darius Alexander ated Toledo a guy without elite production, but
he didn't manage to get what was it six and
a half saxes.
Speaker 6 (10:17):
Final year, there was it eight and a half. But
he ended up being more productive towards the end of
his years Toledo, but.
Speaker 5 (10:22):
Four and a half, but it wasn't a ton, So
he ends up being an older prospect because he was
at Toledo for five years. He ended up not taking
the nil deal and leaving there. But he is six',
five he's over three hundred. Pounds if you look at
his testing, numbers they're. Excellent And Joe shane mentioned how
(10:42):
important The Senior bowl was for him going from THE
mac level of, competition which is obviously not close to
being you, know power, four power, five there's not really
a power five, anymore and how that kind of helped
solidify the athletic tools which were apparent on eight both
against the run and the, pass and then it showed
(11:02):
out against tougher competition at The Senior.
Speaker 6 (11:04):
Bowl he has a son that he's. Raising he's a
very mature.
Speaker 5 (11:08):
Young, man very, much and even though he's gonna be
twenty five this. Summer he's a player THAT i think they.
Believe there's a lot of upside to him where he
gets into AN nfl weight. Program you, Know toledo great,
school but it's not gonna have AN nfl level weight,
program nutrition, program stuff like. That and also just the
level of coaching he's in he get From Andre. Patterson
with that, LENGTH i think despite the fact he's, older
(11:29):
The giants think there's a lot of room from the Growing,
again with all the depth on the defensive line, now
they could take their time with him if they.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
WANT i think the maturity issue is a really big
deal with, Him. John you mentioned he's got a six
year old. Son the fact that he showed the loyalty
when he had a chance to grab big time nil
money from other bigger, schools and he decided to stick
where he was because he felt responsible to the people
who showed their faith in him from the get.
Speaker 7 (11:55):
Go this is a guy who.
Speaker 6 (11:57):
Takes accountability for every thing that he.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
Does and, look we've got a chance to meet, him yes, sir, no,
sir nice to meet, you. Sir thank, you incredibly respectful
and AND i CAN'T i can't stress enough AS i
look at this draft, class and we'll just maybe hear
From Joe shane in a bit during the.
Speaker 5 (12:18):
Interview and by the, way nine sacks in his final three, years,
Comebine that's WHY i got the right.
Speaker 6 (12:24):
Combined three and a half minutes of your Correct.
Speaker 7 (12:26):
So what you will, notice, folks.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
When you Hear joe talk about this draft, class and
when you hear these guys during the course of the
next few weeks and several, months is that they're all
very very, polished, mature well, spoken and seem like guys
who really got their head screwed on. Straight And i'm
gonna tell, YOU i don't.
Speaker 7 (12:48):
Think that was an. ACCIDENT i think The giants.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Really wanted to make sure that they brought guys into
this locker room who are go to be on the
straight and, narrow and they're going to be an, asset
not just on the, field but.
Speaker 5 (12:59):
Off shah just text me reminding Me jeroe McDougal was
the player that actually lit Up Eli, manny good, Memory.
Speaker 6 (13:06):
Neily we can always count on. You all, Right let's
go to the next.
Speaker 5 (13:08):
Guy Cav scataboo at round number. Four just a fun
player to. Watch i'm sure everybody here watched him at
the college football. Playoffs he's going to be a great
short yard to compliment To Tyrone. Tracy and by the,
way he's a really good receiver out of the, backfield
so he's a very well rounded. Back he just doesn't
have that, top straight, ahead blazing.
Speaker 7 (13:24):
Speed.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
No and As i've said so many times in the
last few weeks and when we talked about, him is
that he's the type of guy who will light a
fire under the rest of your. Team he's very, emotional
he's very much a spark, plug AND i.
Speaker 7 (13:39):
Just can't wait to see this guy get over the.
Speaker 6 (13:40):
Field all, right let's take a quick time.
Speaker 5 (13:41):
Out we're going to hit the rest of the class
a little bit later in the, program BUT i want
to make sure we get to This Joe shane and
we're gonna take a quick. Break we'll come back with
more Of Giants Jeffrecap live presented By Clancy relocation And.
Speaker 6 (13:52):
Logistics Joe shane coming up next right here on the.
Fan we'll be right.
Speaker 5 (13:56):
Back welcome back To Giants Draft Recab live presented By
Clancy relocation And. Logistics John, Shmulk Paul deatino with, you
we're gonna hear From Tony Paul lionel join us for
hour number two at nine. Am we're also gonna hear
(14:16):
from some of The giants draft picks, today so stay
tuned for. That but for, now it's time for an
interview With Giants general Manager Joe shane sponsored by Quick,
check official sub of The New York giants three.
Speaker 6 (14:26):
Days let's start with a Duel.
Speaker 5 (14:27):
Carter if you would have just washed him as edge,
player you get one, analysis but you got The washington
for two years as an off ball linebacker, First so
how did your ability to see him play that other
position help enhance your evaluation of him as a guy
that you're probably gonna use more on the.
Speaker 8 (14:41):
Edge, naturally when you turn the film on when he
was a, freshman you see him in that eleven, jersey
you automatically think Of micah because you see this guy
playing side to. Side he's, fast he's, violent plays his butt,
off he could. Blitz he can do all the things
That abdul did when he was, there so Or micah.
Did sorry As micah. Did so as you continue to
progress and watch him, grow you knew he was a
(15:03):
good player as a. Freshman so then he played a
sophomore year was, bawling you, know off the, ball and
then this year to see him transition to edge and
have as much success as as he did was was very.
Impressive and his ability to bend and disrupt and they
would still use him in various different ways off the,
ball which was also attractive to us with the guys
that we have that he has the versatility that we
(15:25):
can move him, around move him around with pieces like
decks And cavon And burns And chauncey you know here as,
Well so gives us some chess pieces to move. Around
so he's going to be an important part of our,
defense you know this coming Fall.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
Joe when everybody looks at his, tape they all, said,
well he's a blue, chip so we kind of all
see the obvious. Stuff what did you learn about him
that you did not know that enhanced his grade during
the final process of the.
Speaker 8 (15:50):
Studying, yeah the, Film i'm not sure IF i could
get any higher on his grade just based off of.
That but then you meet the kid and he's all
ball like. That the amount of information he knew about
The New York, giants the history of The New York.
Giants and when we were having conversations at dinner or
in the, building they were all football. Questions there was
no small. Talk there's no worried about his brand or
this or that or where he's going to. Live like
it was all. Ball how are you going to utilize?
(16:12):
Me where DO i fit? In you know all that.
Stuff you already hear the jersey number stuff that that
came up and got shot. Down, so but just his
passion for, football his understanding of the history of the.
Game and then he's a dog like he's a he's
a tough. Kid it's all ball all the. Time and you,
know meeting his parents and getting to know, them and
you know the way his dad trained him when when
he was a he was a, kid and you, know
so the work ethics, there he was raised. Right and
(16:33):
then you can see that come through with the passion
and energy that he plays.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
With we know because he did change positions after the
first two. Years he himself said to us in his
media avail that he thinks he's just touched the surface
as an edge rusher because.
Speaker 7 (16:46):
He's only done it for a.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Year when you look at his upside and the development
that he will now have when he gets more reps
as an edge.
Speaker 7 (16:54):
Rusher what do you see?
Speaker 8 (16:55):
There, yeah the physical traits are, freaky you, know the initial,
quickness the bend and again a lot of times if
if you're bend in the corner against the, tackle they
can push you out behind the. Quarterback but he's got
a he's got a freaky ability to flatt into the.
Quarterback and, uh you know a little bit like what
Von miller could. Do OR i was In miami With
Cam wake, there like the great ones can really bend
the corner and fight that side pressure and and he
(17:15):
can do that and and like you, said like he's
only played the position for a, year And Charlie, bollen you,
know has a really good. Resume he's he's with a
very good coach and he can. Help you, know he
can also learn From burns And, cavon you know what
their Experienced chauncey and Then Dray, patterson we had him
look at him, too you know who was up In
minnesota and they they had Drafted Anthony barr back in the,
(17:35):
day so you, know that was a little bit of
comp of how they Used Anthony barr when he was In.
Minnesota so he's got notes upon notes upon, notes different
schemes in which how they Used Anthony. Barr so you,
know again the versatilities is, cool but you, know coming
off the edge like you're gonna have to know where he.
Is you're gonna have to know where he, is and
then you have to know Where dex is and you're
paying to know Where burns is and. Caveon so it's
(17:57):
gonna be, interesting you know how it all comes. Together
you know it looks good on paper right, now but
you know they gotta gel as a team in a,
union and you, know we've got to figure out how
to get everybody on the.
Speaker 5 (18:05):
Field all, right let's jump To jackson dark quarterback evaluation
question in, general something we've talked a lot about our
programming this. Year we have access to watch, video but
we don't have the access of the players that you,
do and we always talk about how difficult it, IS i,
think to figure out how a quarterback processes and makes
decisions if you don't know what the coach is teaching
them to do and what they're being told to. Do
so what are the tools you guys use to kind
(18:25):
of get to the bottom of, that get beyond the
film is to talk to the college. Coaches is when
he meets With daves on the. Visits how do you
kind of get inside the processing decision making part of
the quarterback, position which really might be the most important.
Speaker 8 (18:37):
Stuff, yeah it starts in THE i mean it'll start
probably next. Week we'll start looking at next year's. Guys
it's always an emphasis for us to look at the
future class of quarterbacks that we can map out our
fall and go go watch. Them so you're gonna watch the,
Film you're gonna go see live, games and our scouts
do a phenomenal job of going to the schools and
utilizing their resources to get the background on the, players
because that's. Important you're the quarterback of a franchise or
the face of a. Franchise how you interact with staff,
(19:00):
members how you represent you, know whichever university you play,
at how you treat your, teammates your, leadership those are
all things that are very important that we get from
the schools in the. Fall and then you, know we
transition into our own process once the season's, over which
starts at The Senior, bowl where we can meet with
the players and bring up their film and exactly what you,
said what what are you looking at? Here what do
you call? This can you recall your place? That and
(19:21):
then we'll get into our own. Stuff and that's where you,
KNOW i, BELIEVE i really believe in our, process and
it's a little bit more stringent maybe than most in
terms of how we test these, guys what we put them.
Through and you know that starts when we bring them
on thirty visits or we go you.
Speaker 9 (19:37):
Know for.
Speaker 8 (19:38):
Privates but it's apples to. Apples everybody's getting tested the same.
Way so whether it was all the way back the
first Time daves AND i did, this Was Andy, Dalton Ryan,
Mallett Blaine, gambert some of that, draft all the way
to you, know even last year's draft when we Took Josh,
Allen so it's tested over. Time it's again it's apples,
Apples so everybody's put through the same, thing and you
(19:58):
know it's proven to to you, know be. SUCCESSFUL a
lot of the players that that ace the process have
went on to be really good quarterbacks in the. League
so it's it's the, film it's the, person it's the,
leadership it's you, know the, capacity the mental capacity that
you know that you have to have at the quarterback.
Speaker 5 (20:16):
Position and then specific To, jackson he's playing in a
system run by head coach that used to be in THE.
Nfl Joe judge is, there AND i think Link kiffin
does a really good job of setting things up for
the quarterback, right opens things up make some of these
decisions a little bit. Easier so how do you Take
jackson out of the structure he's in an old miss
and figure out how he's going to operate in a
(20:36):
different structure in a different system here with The.
Speaker 8 (20:39):
Giants, yeah every position we, evaluate we always say it's
a projection. Business you, know as a college, scout your
job is to project what that's going to look. Like
in THE, nfl pro scouting is a little bit. Easier,
hey IF i want to go Watch Paulson, dedebo let
me go watch him against a really good receiver in the. League,
okay so it's you, know you're watching pros versus pro.
Speaker 6 (20:56):
And also in a specific scheme you can find, too, Right,
yeah all.
Speaker 8 (20:58):
Right let me go watch all his PREP u reps
Versus Pro bowl. Receiver you can go do. That where
college you have to. Project so what we try to
do is is you're going through the, film we'll do
cutups or we'll talk about. It, okay where the anticipatory?
Throws where is he throwing before a guy gets out
of his, break because you're gonna have to do that
at our. Level where is he going from first, read second,
read third? Read where is he stepping up in the?
Pocket where is a linebacker about to put his helmet
(21:21):
right under his chin and he stands in there and
Delivers so our po, offense whatever it. Is if guys
are running wide, open you maybe fast forward past those,
Plays but where are the plays that are gonna look
like what they're gonna look like On? Sunday and how
does he perform in those? Situations so you do that
every year at the, quarterbacks because you know these college
offenses are. Different they're going tempo sometimes it's like seven on.
Seven they're not getting, pressured so.
Speaker 5 (21:41):
It was almost like the same seven to ten, concepts
and they just kind of spam them just from different, formations.
Speaker 8 (21:46):
Right, exactly it really. Is and, again when they go
quick and they don't get pressured at, time that's. Great
they should be able to complete those. Passes but what's
suit out With? Jackson as you go through it like
talk about a guy that'll stand in, there stare down the,
barrel take a, hit and deliver the ball. Accurately know
there's there's a lot of clips of, those you, know on,
Film so that's what it's gonna be like On, Sundays.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
Joe you set yourself up by getting the veterans in the,
room which you told everybody you were going to, do
so you don't have to Rush jackson door into the.
Lineup but as you develop him during his rookie, Season
dave's is going to figure out how the practice schedule
is going to work and how many reps he. Gets
but what will you look for as you see his
rookie season? Progress what are the developmental keys that you
(22:28):
will want to see Because i'm sure as the months go,
on you're going to want to make sure his progression
and his learning curve is what you want it to.
Speaker 8 (22:35):
Be you always expect growing, pains especially with a young.
QUARTERBACK i mean it's gonna. Happen it's these guys are, bigger, faster,
Stronger you have more on your plate, mentally so there's
gonna be growing. Pains how does he react when the
growing pains occur when you throw an, interception and when
the media gets on you in your first practice and
you come out here and you throw two interceptions your
FIRST da account and they will and you're you're a
(22:56):
bust and you're never gonna.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
Play how do you?
Speaker 8 (22:57):
React so how's he gonna how's it gonna react when
the diversity strikes or people are getting on? Him and
then to, me it's more about establishing a pro routine
and how to go about your. Week and you, know
you really got to be structured at the quarterback position
because you have to know so. Much you, know it's
different in college where you mainly put in two or
three more plays in a. Week it's still the same
(23:18):
offense where it's weaked week, here like we may be
putting in fifteen to twenty new plays or you, know
whatever it may. Be so to, me it's really him coming.
In we're fortunate to have the two veterans that are.
Here tommy was a young player a couple of years,
ago so you, KNOW i could See jackson just really
sitting back looking how these, guys you, know approach their weekly.
Process and to, me that's the biggest thing for, him you,
know come up with a process and then execute it
(23:41):
and just be ready to. Go like he has to
prepare like he's going to play because you never know
when injuries. Occur so to, me that's the biggest thing for.
Speaker 5 (23:48):
Him all, right well we're going through these rest of
these guys a little bit quicker, Here Darius alexander older,
prospect twenty, five BUT i think he's going to be twenty.
Five but when you look at the, TAPE i think
in a smaller, school obviously not as big of a
weight program as we'll have in THE, nfl but also
you see so many tools and you see so much
room for growth.
Speaker 6 (24:04):
Of how he's going to use those.
Speaker 5 (24:04):
Tools, Right so how did you kind of play an
older prospect against lesser competition but also there's so much
promise here for him to get.
Speaker 6 (24:11):
Better how did you kind of waigh those two things
against each.
Speaker 8 (24:13):
Other, yeah we've, uh you, know three techniques usually go
and they go pretty. Quick and then you, know Like
Milton williams this year In New england got twenty six million,
Dollars so these guys are getting paid a lot of.
Money so you, know you always, think, hey if we
can find somebody you know that can rush next To,
dexter because there's a lot of times there's four hands on,
him they're sliding to him and and they're you, know
They're deuble team. Name, so, uh we're always looking for
(24:35):
interior pass rush and this is a player that we
identified in the. Fall brendan Prowfad Our area scout did
a really good job early on so we could get
eyes on, him and you, know then seeing him at
The Senior, bowl that's where again sometimes schematically they're asked
to read and. React maybe they're not allowed to get
upfield and get on edges and work pass rush, moves
and that's just the way some of the schemes. Are
so once we're able to look at him at The
(24:56):
Senior bowl in the one on, one staggered, stance get
off the, ball rush the, passer you can see all
the physical tools. There and then you, know we're fortunate
to have a coach like you, Know Andre patterson And
Brian cox here, too who have a history of developing
young players and are motivated to work with a guy Like,
Darius so you, know we're excited to see. Him we
have a lot of depth. There we have some veteran
(25:16):
players that he can learn from as, well and you,
know we can bring him along slowly if we need.
Speaker 3 (25:21):
To, joe one of the things that struck me WHEN
i saw you got him was because of some of
his versatility as well as the veterans that you signed
in free agency with. VERSATILITY i wondered how much of
that was a priority in your off season as you
added defensive line to give your defensive coordinator A Shane,
bowen an opportunity to do more mixing and matching and
(25:41):
moving guys around than you could last.
Speaker 8 (25:43):
Year, yeah, definitely the more jobs you can, do the
better it, is and the more hats you can, wear
it easier it is For. Shane so it allows us
to free up A dexter or A burns or A
cavon Or chauncey or you know now With darius or you, Know. Abdul,
so like you got a lot of guys that can
you can do a lot of different things on. Defense
(26:03):
so we didn't go into it necessarily thinking about. That
but we'll keep at you, know that's where it was last.
Time like we're add another three technique And chauncey can
rush inside and decks and like let's just let's just
keep adding. Them let's just keep adding good football. Players
you can never have enough pass rushers inside or. Outside
so to, say, hey it was you, know going tot
the off, Season hey we're just going to bolster the
(26:24):
defense and use all of our you, know a lot
of our resources for. That that wasn't the. Case but you,
know LIKE i, said in free, agency if there's not
top tier, guards or there's not a number one receiver
or number you, know sometimes those players don't get to the.
Market so you're at the mercy of what the market
is is presenting, itself and we're fortunate to get you,
know a starting corner and a safety and some other debt.
Pieces so you, know that's the way it worked. Out
(26:44):
But i'm excited about the pieces we, added And darius
would be a big part of the team this.
Speaker 5 (26:48):
Fall at the, Combine, joe so many people make a
big deal about the forty yard, dash especially with the running.
BACKS i wonder running, backs they're not running in a
straight line for forty yards very. Often to, me it's
making guys miss breaking tackles and short, areas and that's
What Cam scataboo is really excelled. At when you compare
the overall top speed versus that kind of short area,
stuff which is more valuable and why for The.
Speaker 8 (27:09):
Giants, yeah the short area is obviously. Important there's different
type of backs as you go through the. Draft, hey
if you need a third down, back this guy's one
hundred and ninety five. Pounds he can catch out of
the backfield and. Go and then you have a scatterbot
category where you know this guy. Is, again he may
have not ran as fast as is people wanted him,
to but his his ten times really. Good he's got
a thirty nine and a half inch vertical so the
(27:31):
short explosive between the, tackles he has all of. That
he has all, that not to, mention you, know the,
physicality the, strength the contact balance really stands out with.
Him and it's not like you can't run tass sweeps
with him and stuff like, that because you. Can and
his vision's really good and he's got really good. Hands so,
again you're sitting there all last, NIGHT i couldn't, sleep
And i'm like, you just, like the guy's a football.
(27:51):
Player the guy's a good football, player like you can
never go wrong and good football, Players and that's HOW
i feel about the kid like you sleep good at
night because he's going to do everything he can do
for The New York. Giants can go out there and
perform it his, best and he's a darn good football.
Speaker 3 (28:05):
PLAYER i wonder about that other part of the personnel file, There,
joe because sometimes it's the intangibles also that can put
a guy maybe a little bit over the top from
somebody who may have been evenly. Graded scattabouz strikes me
as a guy who brings a lot of That Brandon
jacob's atmosphere To giants fans from years, ago where he
makes one of those physical runs and maybe knocks a guy,
(28:26):
over like the whole team gets inspired by. It it's
almost like he can electrify a. Spark is that part
of what you enjoyed knowing about?
Speaker 10 (28:36):
Him?
Speaker 8 (28:36):
Yeah, Absolutely and you see it and he gets up
and he's got some swagger to, him which is which is.
Cool but you think about what we've added over the
last few. Years you, KNOW theo is a, dog he's
tough as all get, Out Tyrone Tracy maleik and then
you add A, scatabo you, know and Then dart and
we gotta we, gotta we gotta walk him back a little.
BIT i mean he's you, know him running linebackers over
LIKE i don't really want him doing. That but, like
(28:57):
these guys play with a certain mentality and we wanted
to add tough guys that love football and are passionate about.
It and you can see it and all those GUYS
i just, mentioned you can see it in all their
play and you know on the college, tape you know
that really stands, out you know With dart And scatterbow
when the balls in their, hand they're carrying. It whatever
it may, be just the toughness of physicality and the
(29:19):
love for the.
Speaker 5 (29:20):

Speaker 11 (30:44):
Carter Abduall carter is A. Giant what kind of ring
does that.
Speaker 9 (30:49):
Have that sounds beautiful to.
Speaker 11 (30:50):
Me what was it about your meeting With Joe shane
And Brian dable that impressed.
Speaker 9 (30:55):
YOU i mean that was pretty straightforward with. ME i
just feel like it is more like us gett to
know each other as men as. PEOPLE i feel like
that one, well just establish that. Connection i'm A New
York giant, now.
Speaker 11 (31:06):
What is it like joining this.
Speaker 9 (31:07):
Franchise it's amazing playing in the biggest city in the,
world best fan base in the. World it's a. BLESSED
i want to take. On get to know my, teammates
get to know my, coaches ready to get to.
Speaker 11 (31:15):
Work since high, school you have been terrorizing. Quarterbacks what's
been your philosophy and getting to THE?
Speaker 9 (31:21):
Qb really just my, will just my will to win
and all the TRAINING i know THAT i put in
and just at the end of the day master in my.
Speaker 11 (31:27):
Craft what is it About New york? Now for A philly?
Guy what's your philosophy like? That you're A, Giant you're
not playing for The.
Speaker 9 (31:36):
Eagles, Yes New york is bigger Than, Philly So i'm
On New york. Now philly is in the. Past, Yeah
i'm On New York Big.
Speaker 11 (31:43):
Blue, nicely Said Brian, Burns Cavon, Thibodeaux Dexter. Lawrence you're
joining a formidable group on. Defense what do you think
about that whole philosophy and getting together with those.
Speaker 9 (31:57):
Guys, yeah it's gonna be DO i want to just
get to know those guys, first get, him know him as,
men bid our relationship as, teammates and on the, Field
we're just gonna rehab.
Speaker 11 (32:03):
It what is it about your first?
Speaker 9 (32:05):
Step, yeah probably just some of my parents gave me.
Speaker 11 (32:08):
Out when you were At Penn, state you were a
linebacker and you convinced him after two years to become
a defensive. End what was it about your game that
allowed you to, say, HEY i can do.
Speaker 9 (32:20):
THIS i just KNOW i could be most dominant on the.
EDGE i was a really good, linebacker BUT i just
went to my coaches LIKE i could be more helpful
for the team and for myself just being on the,
edge and it all worked.
Speaker 11 (32:29):
Out what do you want to say The giants fans
right now who were hungry for a, Winner.
Speaker 9 (32:34):
That's What i'm gonna. Bring i'm bringing energy and bring an,
Effort i'm bringing, tenacity bring an, EXCITEMENT i can't wait
to get. Started what's tonight like for? You it's really
a Busted i'm really lost. Words my family they super
proud of, me So i'm really just, blessed.
Speaker 11 (32:45):
Good luck and have a great.
Speaker 9 (32:47):
Career THANK i appreciate.
Speaker 5 (32:48):
It That's Bruce. Back that was the NIGHT i DO.
A carter got drafted On, thursday interviewing him In Green.
Bay paul, again we'll open the phones here eight eight
eight oh eight one zero one nine eight eight eight
one zero one. Nine we'll roll through the rest of
The giants draft class in just a, bit but for
now it's time for our over under segment sponsored by
(33:09):
Town Fair.
Speaker 9 (33:10):
Tire.
Speaker 5 (33:10):
Paul we put together three statements here and we'll have
some fun withs on over and on. There we'll start
With Abduel carter AND i went. BACK i looked at
some of the early draft pass rushers over the past few. Years,
yeah very few of them get to double, digitsack, Correct
SO i said the over under this year For Abdul
carter at eight over or?
Speaker 7 (33:30):
Under, SEE i was thinking.
Speaker 3 (33:33):
Nine so WHEN i saw your number, EIGHT i, said
well that MEANS i.
Speaker 7 (33:37):
Have to go OVER i.
Speaker 6 (33:38):
SEE i thought you might need some with math on
that one that would be.
Speaker 7 (33:42):
Over here's and here's the.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
Reason here's the, reason, because as we've talked about for
the last several, weeks if The giants Grabbed, carter he
was going to get enough playing time to make a
significant impact on this. Defense they would find ways to use.
Him they would find ways to spell the other guys
who were on the. Edge he can play some off
ball linebacker. STUFF i feel he'll good enough snaps to
(34:04):
have the opportunity to.
Speaker 7 (34:06):
At least come close to double.
Speaker 5 (34:07):
DIGITS i, Agree i'm gonna go over tier. Two i'm
gonna say eight and a. Half you, know you go.
Back Miles garrett had under ten and his rookie, Year
Chase young had undertend his rookie, year In hudginson had
undertended his rookie.
Speaker 6 (34:19):
Year SO i think just to.
Speaker 5 (34:21):
Get to double digits as, hard especially given the fact
there are so many other guys on this defensive. Front you,
know he might win on a bunch of, rushes but
dex The lawrences gets there, First hey gets the, sack
you know WHAT i?
Speaker 3 (34:33):
Mean he will help him because he has three other
dominant teammates up front And carter has the most speed
of any of those. Guys he can chase folks down
who are gonna be pursued by his.
Speaker 5 (34:44):
Teammates even more important to me And Joe shane talked
about this in the, interview and we did talking about
the Von miller comparison over the past you, know month
or so getting ready for the. Draft he has such
good ability at the top of the rush and for
fans wi't understand WHAT i mean when you get outside
of that offensive tackle and he's trying to push you
around the, quarterback he is the ability to bend and they,
(35:09):
called you, know the the ankle, flection where, you you,
know can you flatten out and get back to the
quarterback after the tackle tries to push you. Around, well
here's the thing with The giants' ability to push the.
Pocket With Dexter lawrence and Now Darius, alexander the other
guys in the, Roster Robertson, harris the other guys that
they had in the, offseason there's probably not gonna be
(35:29):
a ton of room for the quarterback to step up
in the pocket to Avoid carter bending that. Edge that
should give him the opportunity to finish more of those
plays because of this combination With Dexter lawrence and to your,
Point Brian burns on the other, side the quarterback might
not be able to get flushed out away From carter
and even run away from. Him so you're, right it's
(35:49):
gonna be a team effort trying to get that rush.
Speaker 6 (35:51):
Straight all.
Speaker 5 (35:52):
Right statement number, Two and this is a tough one
because there's gonna be a lot of factors in this
one out of The giants. Control Jackson art will start
four and a half games.
Speaker 6 (36:02):
This year for The.
Speaker 5 (36:02):
Giants we talked about how The giants plan on this
being a long term. Process now there are things like.
INJURIES i can interfere with that how the season. Goes
SO i put the over under here.
Speaker 6 (36:12):
At four and a half. Games, paul you can go.
Speaker 7 (36:14):
First, Well i'm gonna go under.
Speaker 3 (36:16):
Here and we refer to the Whole Kurt Warner Eli
manning scenario earlier in the. Program and OBVIOUSLY eli would
have been over four and a half Because warner had
come out after The giants ninth, game but they didn't
have somebody backing Up warner between him And eli that
they felt pretty good about, it, Correct so one injury
(36:37):
probably is not gonna Get Jackson dart on the.
Speaker 6 (36:38):
Field that won't Get Jameis winston on the.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
Field bingo, right because there are two veterans in the
room ahead Of. Dart even if there is an injury
that you cannot control and you cannot possibly. PREDICT i
don't See jackson taking the, field and if he, does
he's four and a half is a.
Speaker 5 (36:56):
Lot i'm with. You i'm gonna go under as. WELL
i think The giants want to be patient with. Him
and now, again it would be great if he gets
ready so, quickly And Brian dable deems that he's ready
to go earlier in the, process that'd be, fantastic but
let's not anticipate.
Speaker 6 (37:10):
That.
Speaker 5 (37:11):
WELL i think you're gonna be patient with him and
see when he gets on the. Field So i'm with.
YOU i think maybe In december you might see him
get on there at some. Point and, again maybe you'll
have games with The, giants you, know in the fourth
quarter The giants are up big and you have a
chance to get him some game action earlier in the.
Speaker 6 (37:27):
Year, remember THOUGH i said it starts, HERE i did
not say games. Played if it was games.
Speaker 5 (37:32):
PLAYED i would have made the number a lot higher
starts as a little bit of a different.
Speaker 3 (37:35):
Conversation the other hypotheticals also is That Russell wilson has
a really good year and The giants are doing so,
well you don't want to mess with.
Speaker 5 (37:41):
That and, again the schedule is gonna be, really really.
Tough but we're also talking here at the end Of.
April i'm gonna err on the side of being optimistic
and think, that, yes the season is gonna go better
than they did last year With Russell, wilson the veteran,
quarterback all the you, know additions they made on defense
over the course of the.
Speaker 6 (37:57):
Offseason So i'm with. You i'm gonna go.
Speaker 5 (37:59):
On they're on the four and a half as, well all,
right final one pall and Again colin give us a
ring eight eight eight eight oh eight one zero one.
Nine Darius alexander is a little. Complicated they'll stick with. Me,
Fans Darius alexander And Camps scataboo will combine for ten
and a, half combine sacks and. Touchdowns so this is
interesting because we don't know how Much Darius alexander is
(38:21):
going to. Play Joe shane talked about in an. Interview
you just heard they have the luxury because of all
the guys they have on that defensive front to be
patient with him and take their. Time SO i don't
know how quickly he's gonna force himself onto the. Field
But Cam, scataboo on the other, HAND i think he's
gonna get on the field right away and split time
With Tyrone. Tracy and by the, way we should point,
(38:42):
OUT i don't think this is The giants sending a
message that they don't Like Tyrone. TRACY i think they
feel really good about him as a starting. Back but
very few teams, NOW i think we went through this
the other. DAY i think only six teams in the
league last year had a running back with over two
hundred carries or over over. Carries, correct there are only
six of. Them, yes so most teams use two. Backs
(39:05):
that's what The giants are gonna. Do AND i think
there are different. Styles, correct With scataboos between the tackles,
POWER i would think he's probably gonna get goal line.
Carries so that touchdown number could be a little bit.
High SO i put the over on there at ten
and a half For saxon touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (39:19):
Together, yeah, WELL i figured maybe seven touchdown rushes For.
Speaker 7 (39:23):
Scatabo that's kind of the NUMBER i was going for.
Speaker 3 (39:26):
It who knows it could be more, certainly BUT i
figured that was a pretty good number for a rookie
right out of the.
Speaker 5 (39:31):
WALL i will save this to remember The giants With
Russell wilson as the. Starter while he's, Mobile he's not
gonna poach rushing touchdowns from the running backs the way
like A Daniel jones, did for.
Speaker 6 (39:40):
Example he will, Not BUT i.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
Would also Expect Russell wilson could probably throw for a
lot more touchdowns than the Recent giants.
Speaker 5 (39:47):
Quarterbacks out and from outside the red, zone correct with
his deep throws. Correct so that's Why i'm gonna go
about seven For.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
Scatabo uh And, alexander, well we just talked about how
The giants have a number of de defensive players who
could gobble up a large number of. Sacks so even
If alexander plays more than some people might, ANTICIPATE i
don't necessarily think he's gonna be able to compile a
huge sack. Number maybe maybe, three and that would be.
(40:16):
Good that doesn't necessarily mean he had a bad. Season
So i'm gonna go possibly, ten which is under ten
and a.
Speaker 5 (40:24):
HALF i think this is right on the. NUMBER i,
Mean i'm not Saying i'm when that came up with the,
number so it should.
Speaker 9 (40:29):
Be But.
Speaker 6 (40:31):
I'll go just.
Speaker 5 (40:31):
OVER i think it's gonna be right. There let's say
four sacks For alexander and and you'll get the seven
touchdowns out Of. Scatamoon by the, way the other thing
About scataboo with, that PEOPLE i don't think, realize and
they should if they watched the college football. Playoffs he's
a good, receiver so you might have a couple receiving
touchdowns in. There you, know they love one of those
little play action boots inside the five with the running
(40:52):
back flares at you kind of throw to him in
the flat he tries to get it into the end.
Zone you might get two or three of those off
of play action in addition to the. Rushing SO i
think that might Get scataboo's number a little bit, higher
even depending on again what his usage rate is With,
tracy and who, knows we might See tracy get some
carries inside the five to two depending on the game
and how he's, playing and you know it might take.
(41:12):
Scataboill remember didn't take it Took Tyrone tracy until What
week six and The devin single, Injury Devin singletary injury
and to really get going last. Year we don't know
when that's gonna happen nor skataboo this, year because, look
they still have faith In Devin, singletary do they like
him as a. Player So i'm curious to see when
he really starts getting, that you, know bigger role in
(41:34):
The giants. Backfield all, right let's go to the CALLS
a eight eight one zero one. Nine john In South
jersey will lead us.
Speaker 6 (41:39):
Off, Hey, John, hey good morning. Fellas, hi good, Morning.
Speaker 12 (41:45):
HEY i want to know what you think of The
giants offensive line going coming out of this. Draft they
only drafted one line and they haven't done a good
job in the last couple of years defending the quarterback
opening up the field.
Speaker 9 (41:59):
For the running.
Speaker 12 (41:59):
Back so what are your thoughts.
Speaker 6 (42:02):
And i'll hang up with the listen, Now, john good.
Speaker 5 (42:04):
Question and we had not talked About marcus bow. Yet
that was The giants' fifth round pick going into the.
DRAFT i HAD i thought about him as kind of
like an end of the third round type of. Guy
SO i think they got really good value with With marcus.
BOW i watched him very closely at The Senior bowl
WHEN i was down. There he's a very good. Athlete
he's got great. Feet his arms are about thirty three
(42:25):
inches what he got measured in at The Senior.
Speaker 6 (42:28):
Bowl it'll shorter at the.
Speaker 5 (42:29):
Combine but he can play all the positions along on the,
line paul he can help. You they gonna use him
a tackle first and see where he. Goes but a
lot of people projected him as a. Center he played
guard at The Senior, bowl so he has a lot of.
Flexibilities the guy's going to come in as a backup to.
Develop remember the first six games last year before the injuries,
happened they were pretty happy with how the offensive line played.
Speaker 3 (42:46):
Here no Doubt. John and he's athletic, too so let's
keep that in. Mind so that does allow that verstsatility
that you were talking.
Speaker 5 (42:53):
About by the, way over under was brought to you
by Town Fair. Tire nobody beats Town Fair, tire. Nobody all,
right we have play more coming. Away in hour number,
Two Tony, pauline our draft, expert will join us to

the rest of the league did in THE Nfl draft as,
well and we'll continue to take your calls at eight
eight eight eight oh eight one zero one to nine

(43:15):
drafted in the twenty twenty FIVE Nfl. Draft will be

(43:36):
and now we welcome in our draft, Expert Tony. Pauline
he writes for Sports. Kita he's been at this for
the last boy eight, months more than, that probably a
year going, back you, know getting the getting ready for this.
Draft so this has been you, Know Tony's christmas whatever
you want to, pause over the past three or four,
(43:57):
days getting ready for this.
Speaker 6 (43:58):
Draft, tony. Welcome how are you?
Speaker 2 (44:02):
RELIEVED i, MEAN i feel like a large weight has
been lifted from my. SHOULDERS i mean some of these
GUYS i have two and three years of notes ON
i mean BECAUSE i follow him once they're draft. Eligible
and then the next the past three, days you, know you're.
Excited there's a lot of, anticipation but there's also a
lot of. Stress you, know you put a lot of
news out, there you make a lot of, predictions And
i'm old, school you. Know if it doesn't, HAPPEN i
(44:23):
feel LIKE i. Failed and then it's finally. Over take
a break for two, weeks middle of mail start two,
Weeks i'll take. You i'll start to prepare for the
twenty twenty six.
Speaker 5 (44:32):
Drafts, Well tony is my coast on draft, season and
coming up in about a week and a, half we're
going to have his early watch list for the twenty
twenty SIX nfl, drafts so it'll come sooner than those two.
Weeks we always Keep tony busy over here getting ready
for the. Draft you get check Out draft. Season by the,
Way tony AND i are actually gonna record our draft
recap episode as soon as we've them with the. Show
that'll Hit giants Dot, Com giants app and all that
stuff coming up On, Monday so make sure you guys
(44:54):
go check that. Out we have a nice recap Of
round one of the drafts up there is ready up,
there ready as. Well all, Right, TONY i want to
quickly go through The giants draft with you before we
hit some of your drafts. Superlatives in, fact maybe we
should do one of the drafts to protos, first BUT
i think it's kind of related to what The giants
did in the. Draft it's time to hand out Our
draft awards sponsored by Town Fair, tire And, tony we're
(45:15):
gonna start with your favorite draft. Class and this was
not a, plant, FOLKS i promise. You tony sent me
this email last night AND i looked at it this
morning And i'm, like, huh.
Speaker 6 (45:25):
How about, That, tony which team at your favorite draft?
Class he does it every.
Speaker 2 (45:28):
Year it's The Philadelphia eagles With Howie. ROSEMAN i know
that's a lot of people gonna drive their cars off
the road now or turn the radios. Off i'm sorry about,
that but year after, year Getting Jahadd campbell at the
end of The round One Jahadd campbell may miss, most
if not, all of his rookie season because of shoulder.
Injuries getting a talented defensive player like that at the
end of round one guarantees that The eagles will control
(45:51):
him for the next five. Years andrew mccooba a very
underrated safety which they got In day. Two he goes
sideline to, sideline fills a. NEED i thought Getting Ty
robinson in the fourth round was tremendous. Value you mentioned draft.
Season if anybody's kept up with draft, season they know
how MUCH i Love Ty. Robinson you can put him
on the, inside you can put him on the. Outside
(46:12):
Cornerback mac McWilliams And day three Quarterback kyle. Mccordon day
three Centered Drew kendall And day three were all out standing.
Picks and then they Take Cameron williams in the sixth.
ROUND i, mean MAYBE i Are Cameron williams this, year
but we know the upside that he, has we know
how well he played before the. INJURY i think the
(46:33):
biggest problem with The eagles draft is there's not enough
room on.
Speaker 6 (46:36):
The roster for all the guys That Howie.
Speaker 2 (46:38):
Roseman, selected because if they don't don't end up on
The eagles, roster they're gonna be playing in the league
with some other.
Speaker 5 (46:44):
TEAM i really like The chiefs draft class at. ALL
i thought they did a really nice. Job but let's
get to The giants, Here, tony because they were ALSO
i honestly thought they were your highest graded. Class that's
WHY i threw it to the WAY i. Did they
were right up there for. You, okay pretty close to
The eagles though they.
Speaker 6 (46:58):
Are they are they, Are.
Speaker 5 (46:59):
So give me your. Take let's start in the first.
Round you talked about your, predictions you like to see
them come. True, Well i'm not gonna give you too
much credit for The Abdul carter. THREE i think a
lot of people had that. One but then trading up
into the first round For Jackson dart break down That
giants first round for.
Speaker 2 (47:13):
ME i, mean first of, all With Abdul, carter they
got the best player in the draft with the third
pick of the. Draft and AS i said in our
preview show that we did, here you're always looking or
there used to be a time where teams wanted that
impact defensive player up, front and that's What Abil carter.
Is And i'm glad That Joe showing in that interview
mentioned how in twenty twenty, Three carter was a terrific
(47:34):
off the ball linebacker because he's more than a one
dimensional pass. Rusher you can use him on third down
to cover the tight, end to play in.
Speaker 6 (47:40):
Space he has that. Upside Jackson.
Speaker 2 (47:43):
Dart i'm more of a fan, of you, know staying
where you're at and getting additional. Players BUT i had
them Taking Donovan jackson a round. Two he wasn't. There
and the fact is they really didn't give up much
For Jackson. Dart they gave away a third round pick this,
year which was a compensatory, pick which is basically free,
money and.
Speaker 6 (48:00):
It's almost a fourth round four. Exactly so you.
Speaker 2 (48:03):
Know, listen they got the player they wanted at the
position of. Need now it's just a matter of can
they develop that Player Darius alexander in third. ROUND i
had him Taken Joshua. Former they Take Darius alexander more
of your three technique, type a terrific. Athlete he just
has to learn to play bigger. Football he doesn't show
a lot of strength in his. Game want to see
(48:24):
him increase his. Power people keep talking, about well he's
an older. Prospect that's not necessarily a bad thing on
the lines of, scrimmage because it means you're physically more
mature and you should be more ready to. Play so
that's not a bad. Thing Marcus, embo the offensive lineman
out Of. Purdue at one point people thought he could
be a first round, pick and then he's A day two.
Pick he fell because of some character, issues if you,
(48:47):
will and medical. Concerns he's an incredibly athletic lineman, who Like,
alexander has got to add power to his. Game you,
know if you're going to use him as in his
zone blocking, scheme he's. OUTSTANDING i like. Him The giants
talked about him at. TACKLE i think either way he's
got great. Upside he's just hitting his stride and you,
(49:08):
know he could be a, starter if not by his rookie,
year by the second year in the. League Cam, SCATTABO i,
mean he's gonna be a legend. Here there's gonna Be
you're gonna hear a lot of oohs and ohs because
the guy crazed physical. Contact he tries to run through,
defenders but he also has the ability to run around.
Defenders you mentioned he's a terrific pass catcher out of the.
Backfield he's gonna be a tremendous compliment To Tyrone. TRACY i,
(49:31):
MEAN i thought this is a great pick for a
variety of, reasons number one being he's an outstanding football.
Speaker 6 (49:37):
Player THOMAS.
Speaker 2 (49:38):
F maddoni in the fifth round interesting thing About Thomas
vedoni is he was basically pushed out Of. Nebraska Dana
holgerson came in and there was no room in his
offense For Thomas. Faddoni he's more of like a receiving
move type of tight end, right but he can. BLOCK i,
mean he's got blocking ability and he's a good pass.
CATCHER i think getting him in the seventh round is great.
(50:00):
Value is he a number one tight? END i don't
think he's a number one tight, end BUT i think
he can be a very productive number two tight end
and he can.
Speaker 6 (50:08):
Block he has that.
Speaker 2 (50:09):
Ability the cornerback they took in with their final, pick
he's a guy that's shown consistent. Improvement he's a, size speed.
Guy his senior season was his best season on the college,
field and that's what you really want from a. Cornerback
you want to get a cornerback when they're playing at their.
Best so you're looking at a guy potentially as a dime,
(50:29):
back potentially as a special. TEAMER i THINK i said
The eagles had the best, draft BUT i was also a,
big big fan of what The giants did the past three.
Speaker 3 (50:39):
Days, tony let me go back to The giants draft
for a, second because there was a lot of speculation
about would they get a quarterback and would they have
to move up to get. Him you talk to people
around the league all the time in retrospect the way
that it played, Out how did you see the idiosyncracies
kind of go through the. Night people were all already, saying,
well maybe THE ms wanted to maybe somebody else was
(51:01):
gonna Maybe cleveland was gonna go Get Jackson, dart and
that The giants really had.
Speaker 7 (51:06):
To be aggressive if they were going to get the
kid they.
Speaker 2 (51:09):
Wanted, no they really, didn't because we all knew that
this was not a good quarterback class after the first,
guy that guy being Cam ward and you know these other,
players the second tier quarterbacks weren't going to BE nfl
ready for a. While SO i think there was a
kind of a hurd on the road When pittsburgh passed
(51:29):
On Shador sanders and they, thought, well maybe these other
teams are going to take. Quarterbacks BUT i didn't hear
that there was a. LOT i had heard that The
giants were making calls early through the mid part of
the first. ROUND i had texted, Somebody i'm hearing The
giants or making calls to try and get back, in
but the way it worked out was. Beautiful they give
away a third round pick in twenty twenty six for
(51:51):
a guy that they think can be the quarterback of the.
Future you got, them now you got to develop.
Speaker 7 (51:56):
Them AND i think.
Speaker 5 (51:57):
That's the Thing tony, Right who knows what would have
happened if they don't make that.
Speaker 6 (52:01):
Trade nobody. Knows and that's the.
Speaker 5 (52:02):
Point if there's a guy you want to go up
and get to get, it and then all it's gonna
cost you is pick ninety nine and the third round
pick next, year and it's a guy at that, POSITION
i think when you're weighing that in that room and
you're making that, DECISION i think almost better be aggressive
than regret not making that move and then potentially losing the.
Speaker 2 (52:21):
Place and the thing about it is is everybody Knew
Jackson dart was The giants, guy sort of like we
knew That Daniel jones was The giants guy in the first.
Speaker 6 (52:29):
Round you, know all those years. Ago the league knew That.
Speaker 2 (52:32):
Jackson The giants Wanted Jackson dart and they were going
to try to move back into the late part of
round one to get him and they.
Speaker 6 (52:39):
Did but even.
Speaker 2 (52:41):
The fact that they gave away so little and everybody
knew that was the guy that they, WANTED i think
bodes well for The.
Speaker 6 (52:47):
Giants it shows what a good job that they. Did
ye if they didn't.
Speaker 2 (52:49):
Overpay you look at What jacksonville gave away to move
UP a couple of, spots sure For Travis.
Speaker 6 (52:54):
Hunter but The falcons went back into the first. Round
but that was but The. Giant but The jaguars moved
up what three? Spots two?
Speaker 2 (53:02):
Spots, yeah and they gave away your first round pick
The giants and their second round pick back this. Year
and what The giants gave away was.
Speaker 6 (53:08):
Nominal.
Speaker 5 (53:09):
Absolutely all, right let's continue with our draft awards, Here,
tony we talked about the best.
Speaker 6 (53:13):
Class let's go to number two. Here who's your biggest
faller in this. Class it's got to be.
Speaker 2 (53:19):
Quinn, ewers the quarterback From. TEXAS i, mean for the
past three, months all the oxygen has been sucked out
of the room talking about your, Door, sanders where would he?
Go and it's fall blah blah, blah and no one's
paid attention to Quinn. EWERS i, mean Quinn ewers is
a guy that's won a lot of football games on
the college. Level you look At Bill parcell's blueprint for
what he wanted in a quarterback coming out of, college
(53:41):
Quinn ewers basically fits.
Speaker 6 (53:43):
It and the fact that there were some character.
Speaker 2 (53:45):
Concerns there are some people who believe he doesn't have
a great downfield.
Speaker 6 (53:48):
Arm but for this guy who a lot of.
Speaker 2 (53:51):
People bought were going to be a top ten, pick
came into the season rated as a third round pick
BY nfl. Scouts for him to fall in the sixth,
ROUND i, MEAN i think that's as big a story
as Chudor sanders is a.
Speaker 3 (54:04):
Fall let me go To sanders from your scuttle bunt
that you've been able to kind of, ascertain was there
anybody that you think Before cleveland in the fifth came
close to Taking Sanders.
Speaker 2 (54:16):
PITTSBURGH i, Mean pittsburgh considered it all the way, through
but they kept on passing on, him passing on, him
and then they Took Will howard out Of Ohio, state
WHICH i think is very. Telling but that was a
TEAM i Think philadelphia also would have considered it had.
Speaker 6 (54:33):
He fallen down to. Them that's why one of the.
Speaker 2 (54:36):
Reasons Why cleveland traded up Because Howie roseman was going
to take a. Quarterback he ended up Taking kyle. McCord
SO i think that the Two pennsylvania, Teams pittsburgh And.
Speaker 5 (54:46):
Philadelphia and when you kind of dug into everything that
happened with Chiud Or, SANDERS i honestly felt sorry for.
Him you, Know he's sitting, there all this hype got
built up around him and he has to, wait and
he has to, wait and he has to. WAIT i
felt bad for the. Kid you, know it's his. Fault
what his last name, is you know WHAT i? Mean And,
antony you talked about it On, wednesday where you think
he you, know people not, him but the people that
(55:08):
cover the draft and the media kind of, artificially you,
know inflated it and and that kind of is what
led to, this this this whole drama that unfolded over
the past three or four, days and.
Speaker 6 (55:18):
They did it for three. Months it wasn't a one time.
Speaker 2 (55:21):
STORY i mean it was day after day after day
after she gonna go top it's gonna go top, three
it's gonna talk because he's gonna go to the first.
Speaker 6 (55:26):
Round it was and the.
Speaker 2 (55:27):
Fact is it was a variety of things with With Shador.
Sanders he was great as a midsecond round pick coming
into the. Season he didn't have that great of a.
Season the pre draft process that they went through was a,
disaster and we can get into that even, deeper in
large part because they didn't hire an agent to help
navigate the.
Speaker 6 (55:45):
Waters you, know.
Speaker 2 (55:47):
As someone told, me you draft The, shador you're drafting his.
Father and there was kind of a drag because of
The dion. Factor BUT i, thought all along With sanders
is you, know if his name Was Tony pauline Or John,
schmel no one would be paying attention to. It And Charles,
davis who in my opinion is one of the greatest
analysts that are on football game, analysts just an intelligent
(56:11):
guy and a wonderful human being if you know, him
brought this point up at the end of the second
day where he, said you, know part of the problem
With Door sanders is his name because and he compared
it To Sam, howell who in twenty twenty two entered the.
Draft at one point in his career people thought he
was going to be a top ten. Pick then people
(56:31):
say he's going to be A day two. Pick he
falls to the fifth, round and As Charles davis said
on THE Nfl Network friday, night you, know there wasn't
a fraction of the time and effort spent On Sam
howell's precipitous dropped down draft boards as there was On Shador.
Sanders AND i think that the father loomed large was
a large part of why so much conversation and time
(56:54):
was put into this.
Speaker 6 (56:55):
Story and again now he goes to a place where
there'll be a heavy.
Speaker 5 (56:57):
Competition Dylan gabriel went there, Too joe flat was, There
Kenny pickett is, there so he'll have an opportunity. Now
AS i, THOUGHT Slrd sanders handles conference called very well
last night when he talked To cleveland. Media he just
wants to get on the field to, compete AND i
have a chance to win that battle now In, Cleveland
so that'll be fun to. WATCH i had hopefully this
will be a good spot For. Hi ment'll have a
chazz to. Succeed Final draft Award tony that we wanted
to do with. You what was your biggest surprise in
(57:20):
this year's?
Speaker 6 (57:20):
Draft how to Be Ruben hippolyte For, maryland the linebacker
going in the fourth.
Speaker 5 (57:24):
Round SO i had to be honest with, YOU i
went full reports on one hundred and eighteen, players AND
i probably know another fifty or sixty from The All Star.
Speaker 2 (57:30):
GAMES i had no idea who. That, yeah, Well i'll
be honest with. You i've had notes on him for three. Years,
well AND i didn't think he Was that's why you're
here about there we. Go you, KNOW i know he
blew it up On Pro day AND i wrote about. It,
uh he's a terrific one gap, pursuit sideline to sideline, running, chase,
linebacker whatever you want to call. Him but he's five
(57:53):
eleven and a half thirty five. Pounds he's, smart he's,
tough but, again you know in those coverage situations where
he's matched up again tight ends that are six two
and a half six. THREE i had a more as
a later day three pick seventh round for him to
go in the fourth round where people like you don't
even know who he. WAS i think that was the biggest, Surprise.
(58:13):
Tody CAN i go real quick here.
Speaker 3 (58:15):
And just ask you about a general unit surprise or
theme surprise as opposial particular.
Speaker 6 (58:21):
PLAYER i think the running backs went later than we thought.
Speaker 2 (58:25):
Because there were so many of, THEM i, think, right,
WHATEVER i really thought that with all you, know round
two and especially round three was going to be full
of running. Backs but a lot of the third round
running backs ended up in the fourth.
Speaker 6 (58:39):
To Be round four and five, Backs AND i, THINK.
Speaker 2 (58:43):
I guess it's maybe not a, surprise but as we,
saw we knew the corner the cornerback class was, terrible
AND i, mean these guys came off the board and
there weren't a lot of. Guys but even, SO i
don't know what the final number of cornerbacks selected.
Speaker 5 (58:58):
Are i'd like to see that come paired to previous.
YEARS i, mean just the fact That Devin neil what
was he a sixth?
Speaker 6 (59:04):
Rounder? Right And Demi martinez went in the seventh.
Speaker 5 (59:09):
It was in the late Six but just those are
gonna be those guys and the guys that can like
start a running back in The National football, leage they're good.
Players it's, crazy all. Right Our draft awards were brought
to you by Town Fair. Tire nobody beats Town Fair, tire.
Nobody let's squeeze in one more call before we get
to our next break and say what's up To sonny And?
Speaker 6 (59:26):
Malvern sonny what's, Up?
Speaker 13 (59:28):
Bud hey, guys good, Morning. Tony are you still. THERE
i am, here, hey big Big giants fan, here static
and Any giant FAN i think should be a static
with with the. Draft they got what they needed AND
i agree with, you they got the best player in
the in the draft With, carter best player in his.
Position But i'm, Curious. TONY i Love Jackson. DAWT i
love his. CHARACTER i love everything about, him his, toughness
(59:51):
but just interested because Most giant, fans most people outside
Of Old, miss never saw An Old miss game or
never heard Of Jackson dart until say a month or
two months. Ago you have notes on? Him and when
did you start having notes if you, did Because i'm very.
Speaker 2 (01:00:03):
Curious my notes actually started when he was AT Usc
thanks for transferring To.
Speaker 6 (01:00:08):
Mississippi.
Speaker 2 (01:00:09):
Uh and you, KNOW i Like Jackson dart more than
most coming into the, season but THEN i thought people
were slightly overrating him as potentially the ninth pick of
the draft when that talk was. On SO i remember
when he was back AT usc and he was always a,
poised patient. Quarterback he was always very, accurate AND i
(01:00:33):
think basically he's gone through the process the correct. Way
and he's got a lot of upside as you heard
with you, Know Joe, sean if you listen to the interview,
now it's just a matter of you, know it's a
matter of projection and a matter of getting him to
learn to play THE nfl, game no question about.
Speaker 5 (01:00:48):
It, sonny good, stuff, man appreciate the. Car let's take
a quick timeout where to come. Back we're gonna hear
From Jackson dart and then we'll take more of your.
Calls at eight eight eight eight eight one zero one,
nine we'll be back with More. Giants ree Have live
presented By Clancy relocation And. Logistics Stick we got us
right here on the fan of The.
Speaker 14 (01:01:04):
York we're back here On Giant jeff Recab live presented
By Clancy relocation And, Logistics John, Schmelt Paul, Bettino Tony
(01:01:26):
pauline with.
Speaker 5 (01:01:27):
You, well take your calls for the next thirty minutes
or so at eight eight eight eight eight one zero one.
Nine right here on the, fan it's time for our
interview With Jackson, dart presented By, Ford presented locally By
Ford Official truck AND suv of The New York. Giants
here Is shoon o'harris interview with Quarterback Jackson.
Speaker 15 (01:01:49):
Dark, jackson congratulations on becoming A New York. Giant what
went through your head when you first heard those.
Speaker 4 (01:01:56):
WORDS i, mean this is just.
Speaker 16 (01:01:58):
Unbelievable, know coming out on my, visit having all the
meetings with the, COACHES i just felt like we grew
such a great connection during that. Time and then you,
know WHEN i was able to be out In New.
York you, KNOW i told them WHEN i BEFORE i,
LEFT i, said this is the place THAT i want to.
Be So i'm just really excited for this opportunity and
(01:02:18):
just super grateful and humble for.
Speaker 15 (01:02:19):
It, WELL i know you had a lot of, meetings
you had a lot of FaceTime With Brian, dable With Joe,
shane with the entire, staff pig me through some of
that whole. Process what was that like sitting in there
in meetings With Brian dable and kind of talking ball with.
Speaker 7 (01:02:34):
Him, yeah coach is.
Speaker 16 (01:02:36):
UNBELIEVABLE i, mean he's everybody knows in the football, world
and he's well renowned for his you, know offensive. Knowledge
SO i think for, me this is just such a
great place to be developed by him and his track
record of developing guys and having them perform at the highest.
Level you, know in my, mind there's there's not a
better place for me to be. At And i'm just
so grateful to get the chance to be able to
(01:02:57):
get coached by him and everyone.
Speaker 15 (01:02:59):
Else what is it About dables offense that you feel
like fits well with?
Speaker 16 (01:03:04):
YOU i just feel Like i'm A i'm a scheme
versu a player you, know who really has athletic traits
to do it. ALL i can make any throw across the,
field and then you KNOW i can run, Too so you,
Know i'm really excited to be in his, system and
you know he's he puts his players in the best
position to, win SO i you, KNOW i can't ask
for anything better than.
Speaker 15 (01:03:24):
This, yeah that'll be new For giants fans to have
an old miss quarterback that can actually.
Speaker 4 (01:03:28):
RUN i know they're looking forward to.
Speaker 15 (01:03:30):
That take me through some of that stuff you were
doing down there At Ole miss who did a lot
of our po. Action, Obviously charlie weis. Junior he kind
of helped you learn some of. That And i'll and
you Follow Lane kiffin FROM. Usc how did that offense
get you prepared for THE?
Speaker 4 (01:03:46):
Nfl?
Speaker 16 (01:03:47):
YEAH i think that if you just watch my, tape
you can see from year to year how much we
grew as an offense and how much more we were
able to implement each and every. Year AND i think
that that really helped me develop and be able to
be ready.
Speaker 8 (01:03:58):
For this next.
Speaker 16 (01:03:59):
Step that there's a lot to learn for, me And
i'm just really excited to take, it to take it head.
On but LIKE i, SAID i feel LIKE i was
in the best position throughout my college years to grow
from great coaches who really understand ball and you, know
are great quarterback. Coaches so they did a great job
of developing me for, this and Then i'm just excited
to take this to take this next journey head.
Speaker 15 (01:04:20):
On some of your teammates have come out and talked
about you and talk about what a great leader you
are and how competitive you.
Speaker 4 (01:04:27):
Are what makes you a great. LEADER i just.
Speaker 16 (01:04:31):
Think, that you, know for, me it's my ability to
create connections and relationships with everybody in the, room regardless of, position,
group regardless of where that they grew. Up you, Know
i'm a relationship person AND i want to know everybody's.
Story and then at the same, time you, KNOW i
really pride myself on consistency and discipline each and every.
Day SO i pride myself in holding the standard of a,
(01:04:52):
room holding a standard for an offense and for a.
Team SO i feel, like you, know people look at
that and you, Know i'm just sure a guiy that
people can rely to give it everything that they have
anytime they touched the.
Speaker 4 (01:05:02):
Field, Well, jackson you mentioned.
Speaker 15 (01:05:05):
RELATIONSHIPS i know you've got a relationship With eli obviously
through The Old miss, connection but you broke his record
At Ole. Miss you broke his, Dad archie's record At Ole.
Miss are you worried about that? Relationship?
Speaker 4 (01:05:16):
Now, No i'm not at.
Speaker 7 (01:05:18):
All you, KNOW i feel like we're each other's biggest.
Speaker 16 (01:05:21):
Fans AND i was able to go out there to To,
Thibodeaux louisiana and you, know attend A manny passing a
camp and for, them they were just such a huge
resource for me At Old. Miss AND i think that's
going to carry, on you, know The New york and you,
Know i'm grateful to have to have them in my.
Speaker 15 (01:05:37):
Corner, WELL i know that The giants are grateful to
have you on the. TEAM i Know giants fans can't
wait to welcome you to the team.
Speaker 4 (01:05:46):
And just want to let you. KNOW i know you
spent a lot of time In.
Speaker 15 (01:05:48):
Shotgun if you need any extra work under, Center i'm
happy to give you a couple of.
Speaker 4 (01:05:52):
Snaps all, RIGHT i can help.
Speaker 9 (01:05:53):
Out, yes let's do, it all?
Speaker 4 (01:05:56):
Right sound, Good? Jackson, congratulations thanks for joining.
Speaker 6 (01:05:58):
US i appreciate thank. You that's SHOWING i have a
good job there With Jackson.
Speaker 5 (01:06:03):
Dark can't resist taking a couple jabs And eli during
that interview you just can't help.
Speaker 6 (01:06:08):
Himself eli won't give him enough airtime on his Web
that is also SO i was, Like i'm out of
the sidekick roll And i've got to take advantage of this.
Opportunity all. Right, So, tony you mentioned this.
Speaker 5 (01:06:21):
Before now The giants had to Develop Jackson, dark, Right
and you're. Right The giants know that, too And Joe
shane And Brian dable talked about it at their post
draft presser after they picked him at the end Of night,
one and they, said, look they're gonna take their time.
Speaker 6 (01:06:34):
Here this is not a. Rush Russell wilson's going to.
Speaker 5 (01:06:36):
Start when you look At Jackson dart's, game what are
some of the areas that you think they do need
to focus on developing as he makes to jump from
an offense in college that frankly is just really well put.
Together link if it's a great offensive coach and there
are some you, know pro concepts in. There but what's
the step that he has to take now to go
from being a really good college quarterback to being a
(01:06:57):
really GOOD nfl.
Speaker 6 (01:06:58):
Quarterback he's got to.
Speaker 2 (01:06:59):
Be quicker my, opinion going through his, progressions because WHEN
i watch, him he tends to stare down the primary
target a bit and he's late getting to his second
or third.
Speaker 6 (01:07:09):
Target AND i, wonder by the.
Speaker 5 (01:07:10):
Way if that has to do with the offense a
little whilecause the Way kiffin sets it up, exactly they
have that they try to put a lot of times
one player in. Conflict, Right he's just waiting to, see all, right,
well what's gonna open up from my number one option?
Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
Here so many college offenses are one read, offenses and he's,
gotta you, know move his head quicker and look around the.
Field you can't give away your passes On. Sunday it'll
lead to. RUIN i think he's also got to learn
to use the tight end. MORE i, mean they barely
use the tight end at The Old miss and they
played with three or four wide. Receivers, again that's what colleges,
(01:07:41):
do whether you, know it's basically you spread the field,
out you put as many fast receivers on the field
that you, can and you have guys run down the
field and underneath. Routes so he's gonna have to learn
to basically use the tight. End also gonna have to
although it's not. Done all that much is played from underneath, center,
yep because, done you, know it's it's.
Speaker 6 (01:08:03):
Just play action a lot which is, good a lot
OF rpo.
Speaker 2 (01:08:05):
Stuff and you know it was it was underneath center
handing the ball TO Jj packesee if you remember the
Defensive so, listen there's a lot to like About Jackson dart's,
game but he's far from ready to step under center
on A sunday. Afternoon the good thing is The giants
aren't you, know needing that in twenty twenty.
Speaker 6 (01:08:26):
Five and we've said all.
Speaker 2 (01:08:28):
ALONG i, mean there was only one, quarterback Cam, ward
who's probably gonna be ready to start at the beginning
of the, season maybe two In Tyler, shuck.
Speaker 6 (01:08:37):
WHICH i think was part of the.
Speaker 2 (01:08:38):
Appeal but they could they could be very you, know
he's got the physical, skills he's got the. Poise you,
know even in that, interview you could see's you, know
he's not, hyperactive he's got the. Poise he's showing the
patients on the. Field and he's won a lot on
the college football, field and that's very.
Speaker 6 (01:08:53):
Important and you talk.
Speaker 5 (01:08:54):
About those bill, parcels check marks like games, started rs,
yards things like, that all those boxes in terms of
being experienced at the college. Level all, right EIGHT ita
eight one zero one nine eighty EIGHT ita eight one
zero one. Nine let's get back to the calls here
and say what's up To harvey And dix?
Speaker 6 (01:09:11):
Sales, Hi, harvey how are?
Speaker 14 (01:09:14):
You how are you?
Speaker 6 (01:09:14):
All we're, Good? Harvey what do you?
Speaker 17 (01:09:16):
Got pretty? Good you, KNOW i was one of the
actually all. YEAR i Loved Tyler dart for many. Reasons number,
one he led THE SEC sec in the production past,
percentage and like you, said he Broke Eli manning's record At. Mississippi,
(01:09:37):
however me that you know a lot of quarterbacks that
have that kind of production but passed forward to the,
DRAFT i know that they were anxious to, go you,
know to trade up to number, one to get another.
Quarterback but what do you think about the fact that
there are other quarterbacks in the draft that didn't get,
(01:09:59):
drafted for, example and especially WHEN i was very impressed
With Joe milton at the time When New england actually
exchanged very low grands. Choices and, secondly what do you
think of that the other Quarterback shuck in terms of this? Year?
Speaker 6 (01:10:18):
Two thank, You, harvey appreciate the. Call, well one For Joe.
Speaker 5 (01:10:21):
MILTON i think the league showed what they thought Of
Joe milton based on what The patriots are able to
get for him in the. Trade and that's ultimately when
we play this, game, folks the league's gonna tell you
what a guy's value is based, on if it's free,
agency how much money he, gets if it's a, trade
what he gets traded. For SO i think you saw
what the league thought Of Joe, milton who was a
six round pick last year and basically got traded in
(01:10:43):
for the equivalent of a sixth round pick this, year
and they swapped the five and a, seven which is
basically a, six, Right SO i think the league showed
what they thought about. Him as For, shuck he was
the next quarterback off the. Board he got picked by
The saints in round. Two we kind of predicted that
a little bit on draft season at the end of round.
One and, look he came comes from more of AN
nfl style. System he's an older, Player. TONY i thought
(01:11:04):
his tape this year was, really really. Good but again
there's a lot of injuries in the pass and stuff like.
Speaker 2 (01:11:08):
That, LISTEN i, mean AS i, said the appeal For,
shock that's why The saints probably took him is he
is closer to BEING nfl ready than any other quarterback
in this draft not named Cam, wards which they might
need with.
Speaker 5 (01:11:20):
The Derek carpentry by THE wafe exactly, Now, shock give him.
Credit he went back for a seventh. Season you talk
about him being. Old he went back for a seventh, season.
Speaker 6 (01:11:28):
And he hit hit a home run out of the
part the folks that done.
Speaker 5 (01:11:31):
Though he was In Trevor lawrence's recruiting, class clear about,
it and coming into.
Speaker 2 (01:11:35):
The, season he was created as a potential seventh round,
prospect and he had such a terrific year At louisville
he turned himself into a second round. Prospect here's my
concern With Tyler. Shock he was outstanding as a redshirt
freshman At. Oregon he was outstanding last year At, louisville
but his four years in between A Texas tech it's
(01:11:56):
like a blank resume because there was, injury there was
inconsistent and see there was a guy that would show
flashes and you would hope that we build on that
any four. Flat so you're getting a he's got the physical.
Proto he's a physical, prototype but you don't know Which
tyler shot you're. Getting you're hoping you get the guy
that we saw in twenty twenty. Four but you can't
(01:12:16):
dismiss what we saw from twenty twenty twenty twenty one
to the body of, work, Right, yeah so we'll see what, Happens.
Speaker 3 (01:12:23):
Tony let me bring it closer to. Home back to
THE Nfc. East you talked about The giants In. Philly
you're like both of those teams. Drafts you haven't addressed
Either dallas Or. Washington, Now washington had the fewest picks
because of THE A lotimore, trade so they didn't have
a lot to work with and also the trade both
of them. Too Now, dallas, however they did some pretty good, things.
Speaker 6 (01:12:46):
RIGHT i, mean we'll.
Speaker 2 (01:12:47):
SEE i Thought booker was taken a little bit. EARLY
i thought they were gonna go receiver. THERE i think
they could have explored a trade down to Get Tyler.
Speaker 6 (01:12:57):
Booker did they do you think explore trade? Down you
think they need to hear that they?
Speaker 2 (01:13:00):
Did, Okay and from WHAT i, remember the card was
up there pretty, quickly and usually the Precursor and that
may be. Wrong maybe one of the calls can correct.
Me but one of the precurses of a trade is
they take the clock down to the final. Second say
like The, jets it just ran up there with the
car pretty. Quickly with M, meto you're right about. THAT
i Like, BOOKER i think he could have Been they
could have taken him a little bit. Earlier who else
did they TAKE i don't have the second.
Speaker 5 (01:13:22):
Round they the third, round they Selected Savon revel out
Of East, carolina WHICH i thought was a really good
value Paying oh and then they got my guy down
of van as a rock who had round.
Speaker 6 (01:13:29):
Too jaden blew in round five and was there a
receiver in there at any point in?
Speaker 5 (01:13:34):
Time they they picked Up Treyshawn holden as A udfa From.
Speaker 6 (01:13:39):
Oregon that was. Surprising, YEAH i was surprised by.
Speaker 13 (01:13:43):
That.
Speaker 6 (01:13:43):
Too The revel pick was was.
Speaker 2 (01:13:45):
TERRIFIC i mean Because revel his season was obviously interrupted by,
injury the knee injury they suffered the Early october and,
practice but he had been progressing in his game all.
Along he's got the, size he's got the speed to
be a starter as a rock wu they wanted defensive.
Line it'll be interesting to see are they consistently using
him with his hand in the dirt or are they
(01:14:05):
gonna have him standover. Tackle terrific player, NOT i, mean
he's a good enough, athlete very, explosive as you. KNOW
i mean because he's a smart. Guy so they checked
off a box and they hit a need, there.
Speaker 6 (01:14:17):
AND i think for your middle a round two was
the sweet spot for.
Speaker 5 (01:14:20):
Him so you think they got pretty good value there
in terms of his pick him And, Revel, yes you're,
right and then the, Commanders i'll give you the picks
that have him in front of. Me Josh connelly at twenty.
NINE i think we both like. That trey Amos at
picked sixty one at the end of round. TOO i
thought that was good. Value then they didn't pick again
until a round. Four Jalen, lane the slot receiver out
Of Virginia. Tech and then around six and round seven Came,
(01:14:42):
madrono the linebacker OF, ucla and then The arizona running
back To Correy Krossky, merritt WHO i thought was actually
could be A Austin ekeler replacement down the road for.
Them in round, seven, well who.
Speaker 6 (01:14:51):
Came from what was At Alabama. STATE i think.
Speaker 2 (01:14:52):
YEAH i think the only thing that The commanders didn't
do was address the edge rushing, need which is what
they wanted to, do and we thought we could they
would and do that very early.
Speaker 7 (01:15:01):
On.
Speaker 2 (01:15:01):
LISTEN i Love. CONNELLY i like to pick you, know,
Uh Jayden daniels is your. Future you better be able
to protect. Them AND i Think connelly gives them some
flexibility with the other players on the.
Speaker 5 (01:15:12):
Line one the way they're gonna play him, though with
With tunzel left, tackle is he move in the left?
Guard did they move in the right? Tackle i'm curious to.
SAY i don't know That connelly is the right. TACKLE
i MEAN i think He's that's WHY i asked the.
QUESTION i always liked.
Speaker 2 (01:15:23):
Him as the same thing with the bow from The
Giants Marcus. BOWL i like him as a zone blocking.
Guard but you know you've got some flexibility there because
you don't know how much longer you Know tunnel is
going to be around with the commanders after that.
Speaker 6 (01:15:36):
Trade paul good.
Speaker 5 (01:15:37):
Question all, right let's take a quick time. Out we

Speaker 18 (01:16:47):
WONDERFUL i had to visit a couple weeks ago to The.
GIANTS i already knew that they had me on the,
board but, uh you, know you never know whos gonna
pick you in This in this, game you, know some
time things so.

for you to go down there and compete against some
of the, Best but.
Speaker 18 (01:17:16):
The seer boss another chance for me to go out
there and compete show the type of skills THAT i,
had a type of telling how COMPETITIVE i am out
there and more than anything to show the coach what
they wanted to get.
Speaker 6 (01:17:25):
There you got going out there and did, that and,
UH i was happy with MY weeka.
Speaker 15 (01:17:29):
Performers so you've been described as a penetrating defensive lineman
with super long arms thirty four inch.
Speaker 4 (01:17:36):
Arms how would you describe your?
Speaker 18 (01:17:37):
Play, uh my, PLAY i would, SAY i play with
a regus of bunnets And i'm a game.
Speaker 4 (01:17:42):
RECORD i like to go out there and calls have.
Speaker 15 (01:17:44):
It, man it sounds like it's exactly Who Shane, bowen
the defensive, coordinator is looking like looking for your defensive.
Line Coach Dray patterson one of the best coaches in the.
League what was your conversation like With?
Speaker 18 (01:17:58):
Dre his conversation with me was wonderful and he told
me a few weeks, ago IF i get my hands
on you still don't the company gets, you can't his.
Word So i'm excited to. Win to coach is gonna be.
Speaker 15 (01:18:08):

wonderful to the word next to.
Speaker 6 (01:18:29):
Him that's, showing No Howard Darius.

Speaker 4 (01:18:49):
Going so you had a great visit with The.
Speaker 19 (01:18:51):
Giants what was your initial impression of the, organization of
coach table and of the staff.
Speaker 10 (01:18:55):
Here, yeah you, KNOW i had a good time. THERE
i enjoyed every conversation AND i, had you, know and
every coach That i've talked to in that facility was very,
positive very you, know mindful of WHO i, am and you,
know they appreciate the WAY i, play and you KNOW
i appreciate them the way you know they're picking in the.
Draft so you know they're they're doing a good, job
(01:19:16):
and you, Know i'm excited to be a part of
the team and get ready to work for.
Speaker 19 (01:19:20):
Them you were to your starter At Arizona state after
transferring From Sacramento. State you've talked about what an Impact Kenny,
dillingham a SU's head, coach had on you as a
person and a football. Player you said that you know
you'd never forget. Him what kind of impact did he
have on developing you into the football player you are?
Speaker 10 (01:19:38):
Today, yeah he made me just a better person all.
Around you, know he made me do the things right
and make sure that you, KNOW i was on top
of my stuff all the. Time so just having him
in the building and him as a, coach and you,
know most importantly as a. Person you, KNOW i connected
with him as a. Person you, know he's my friend
now And i'll always forever be in his corner AND
(01:19:59):
i know he'll in. Mind so you know that's someone
that you, KNOW i love dearly AND i care for
him a. Lot So i'm excited for his future and you,
know hopefully he's excited for.
Speaker 19 (01:20:09):
Mine, Okay i'm your future The National Football, League but
you have loved. Football it seems your entire. Life according
to your, mother when you were six years, old you'd
put on your brother's pads and just run into telephone.
Polls that feels like a constant trait that we see
on the football field with. You how would you describe
your love of the.
Speaker 6 (01:20:27):
Game, YEAH i MEAN i love.
Speaker 10 (01:20:29):
Football i've been doing it SINCE i was, born as
for as far AS i, remember and you, know my
dad and my brother they pushed me to be the
greatest and the. Best you, Know i've always had the,
people you, KNOW i WILL i only touch the ball
because my dad's a, coach.
Speaker 18 (01:20:45):
You know.
Speaker 10 (01:20:46):
Status so now that you know it's coming To fruition
and people see, that you, KNOW i can play football
a little, Bit it's it's been.
Speaker 5 (01:20:53):
Awesome so there was a great article about there out,
there you guys just google.
Speaker 6 (01:20:57):
It Bruce feldman wrote a.
Speaker 5 (01:20:59):
Story he talked to a bunch of cam scattab who's former,
coaches and his. Parents there are some stories in. There
we're at eighteen months like, old he's like hopping fences
into people's. Yards there was another story where he's at
his older brother's baseball.
Speaker 6 (01:21:15):
Game and what was he?
Speaker 5 (01:21:16):
TWO i think at that point something like. That he climbs,
up you, know like for those for those of you
that grew up In New York, city you, know they
hit the baseball, fields they have the metal fence behind,
you and then they have like above the metal fence
goes over the, plate so you can't foul it off
behind the, fence so you lose the. Ball he had
climbed at like two on top of the backstop and
(01:21:40):
was looking down on his brother as.
Speaker 6 (01:21:42):
He was trying to hit a. Baseball that dude's, Crazy.
Tony you made this point.
Speaker 5 (01:21:46):
Earlier giant fans are gonna fall in love with his
personality and his play, style.
Speaker 2 (01:21:50):
And you know there's gonna be a lot of, oohs you.
Know and he, Says paul already had some when we
were live when we, drafted talking about running into telephone.
POLES i feel sorry for those telephone. Poles the way
Scatter bowl attacks.
Speaker 6 (01:22:00):
Things absolutely.
Speaker 5 (01:22:01):
Sure let's go through our best value picks of the,
draft brought to you by Town Fair.
Speaker 6 (01:22:05):
Tire. Tony you're our draft.
Speaker 5 (01:22:07):
Guy who are some of your favorite value picks in
this year's draft across the?
Speaker 2 (01:22:10):
League, well let's FORGET i, mean we already mentioned some of.
Them some of Them Quinn, Youwers Shador, Sanders marcus bow
with The, Giants Ty robinson with The, Eagles Damian martinez after.
THAT i like The titans fourth round pick Alec iomore
the receiver because.
Speaker 6 (01:22:24):
They needed a, big physical.
Speaker 2 (01:22:26):
Receiver he fell because he's not, fast he doesn't have
an expanded, routree but he's a good pass catcher with great.
UPSIDE i like These saints Taking Danny stutsman the linebacker
in the fourth. Round Nice he fell because of some medical,
concerns but he is a, tough instinctive sideline to sideline,
linebacker more of a run, defender more of a two
(01:22:47):
down run defender that we had some potential in. COVERAGE
i personally loved the pick Of Arondez gatson by The
chargers in the fifth. ROUND i Had gatson rated much much.
HIGHER i think he's going to turn into one of
the best tight ends to come out of this year's.
Draft and, Finally Dorian strong going in the sixth. Round
the cornerback From Virginia tech going To buffalo in the sixth,
(01:23:08):
round fits The buffalo. Profile he's, big he's, physical he's
got some ball. Skills i'm surprised he. FELL i knew
there were some injury, concerns and then when you get
into the third, days sometimes these picks come out of
left field and guys like strong.
Speaker 5 (01:23:22):
