Speaker 1 (00:00):
What do you see from Jackson the last few weeks,
and the numbers kind of don't match what they were preconcussion.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Yeah, the big takeaway is we've got to do a
better job helping him when the plays find us collectively
as a group, whether it ends up being a you know,
miss assignment, whether it ends up being a drop, whether
it ends up being something along those lines. I think
everyone's kind of got a unfortunately hand in that. It's

(00:26):
not just one person or one thing. We just have
to do a better job of as a unit of
being able to go out and play sound football and
fundamentally just do what we've been doing, you know, up
until this point consistently and and you know, making the
plays when they come our way. Whether it's whether it's
you know, a block up front, like I said, a drop,

(00:48):
whether Jackson can make a better throw, better check, whatever
it may be. It's not just one thing. I think
that's more of a collective unit issue than anything else.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Darius has been a good receiver in this league for
a long time.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
They had some drop.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Issues this year to that at some point, even with
somebody who's had success and been in the league for
a long time, does that just get mental at some point,
like we just like you start thinking about the last
one when you're trying to get and.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
You know, obviously I can't speak for Sleigh, but that
has to play a role in it in some way,
shape or form. But again, when you have someone with
a track record that you know that he has with
his ability to demonstrate to go and make plays just
a matter of being able to kind of go and
recalibrate and get back to get back to neutral, you know,

(01:34):
when something unfortunate happens like that, and that's something that
that you know, slays a guy that we've been able
to count on since I've gotten here, and and that's
not going to change. That's cute. No, Uh yeah, he's

(01:54):
he's obviously when you know, kind of a unique situation.
Uh you know, that position in general just had to
be ready to go at a moment's notice, and and
you know, in a premier position, being able to go
out there and and not be noticed is really, uh,
you know, a testament to him and his ability to prepare,

(02:14):
stay locked in and even though he may not be
getting all the reps during the week, but being able
to understand the game plan and still go out and
and you know, function at a high level. So Marcus
did a good job with that, got a whole week
to prepare and you know, looking forward to seeing him
plants on it.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
And what area did you expect him to be able
to build on that be better? Specifically?

Speaker 2 (02:32):
I would say all of it. You know, it's coming
off the coming off the uh sideline cold, having to
go in and execute against the defense that was multiple
and its looks. You know he was he was clean
assignment wise, and was physical and did a good job
and pass protection for the most part. So yeah, just
looking to build on that collectively. I don't know if
there's one area where we're we're saying, hey, you've got

(02:53):
to get better here, but just going out and doing
it consistently and again, I always had a whole week
to prepare to be able to go out and and
play a high level.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
I understand the focus is right now, But does Marcus
as we move forward, does he have guard tendencies too?
Does he have guard flexibit like you know what a
guard tackle looks like? Could he do you see that
he could play both at.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Some pointles league?

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Maybe? You know, right now we're we're focusing on making
sure we're getting him ready to go and play tackles,
so we don't have a ton of time to be
able to kind of go and and you know, put
him in the laboratory, if you will. But now looking
forward to him going up this week and playing against
a good front and you know, playing tackle.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
For us, what do you make of the less or
no design runs for Jackson like the last few weeks.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Yeah, you know, again, I would say that while it
may not be transpiring throughout the game, I wouldn't say
that's necessarily the plan. Uh in terms of the different
calls and the different things that we have in the
game plan for him one reason or another, you know,
those may not have come off the call sheet. So

(03:59):
uh yeah, I would say, well, it's it's probably more
dictated on the game than anything else.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
The thought obviously is that, you know, the conspiracy theorist
thought is like trying to protect him from himself with
all the guy that you're saying that that's not what's happening.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Yeah. No, I mean, we can put our ten foil
hats on, but we you know, we're preparing the offense
and and Jackson to go out there and win. There's
nothing as far as as far as we need to
protect him from himself. I mean, you guys watch the game.
You know, if we you know, you can't do that.
So I would say, like I said, it's it's more

(04:35):
dictated on how the games have gone and maybe some
of the opponents that we played and the structures that
that they've presented that maybe lean to that.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Have you seen teams do more to limit his scrambling
a bit.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
Whether it's just.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
That that's probably you know, to be expected when when
you come out and you know, put the stuff on
tape that he put on tape, teams are are going
to treat you a little bit different. So you know,
that's that's a part of it, in terms of how
they're rushing him, being more focused on keeping him in
the pocket and doing things along those lines. So yeah,

(05:11):
but anytime you know, you put enough tape out there
of of you know, excelling at something in this league,
teams are going to try to.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Take take that away from you to try to slow
it down.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
I mean, there's multiple things that that he's shown. You know,
you look at at how we played Jalen a couple
of weeks ago. He utilized some spies, utilized some different
techniques up front, So you know, he's been in this
league a long time and he's been calling players at
a high level. So I'm sure I'll have some wrinkles
for us here on on Sunday afternoon,
