Speaker 1 (00:00):
I go to the Uh.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
I was I was blessed to be out there, man,
just to be able to get some real competitive reps.
Speaker 1 (00:07):
Uh, to put on this uniform and and shine with
my teammates. We have some fun.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
What do you think of your uniform and who you're representing?
Speaker 1 (00:14):
The Giants?
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Well, obviously I representing one of the one of the
best organizations in the NFL. Uh, one of the best
cities uh in the world. Uh in one of the
greatest fan bases uh the NFL has seen. Uh So Uh,
I know it's bigger than me. I'm I'm grateful that
I approach it that way. So I'm happy to be
a giant.
Speaker 4 (00:34):
Jamis howise seek chemistry in the court of that room?
Speaker 3 (00:37):
How do you guys communicate? Is fun?
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Is it serious? Uh?
Speaker 2 (00:40):
It's a It's a little bit of both, mainly serious
because we are grinding, learning and mastering this offense. Some
of the Vido is the only person that's had some
history in this offense. Uh So it's a process of
of of of being intentional every single day, being able
to mix in a few laves here and there. But uh,
kochet Man, he is strict. Uh, he is purposeful. Uh,
(01:02):
so we trying to master this offense as best as
we can.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
How has your relationship with Russ evolved since you guys
have both been here together? Man?
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Well it it's our relationship started in twenty fifteen, and
really in twenty thirteen, uh when he won the Super
Bowl and uh and we won the national championship uh
that that year. And uh we had a ah a
similar uh mentor and and mental coach, Trevor Moat Uh
that we both leaned on uh throughout the course of
our career. Uh. Trevor's not with us anymore, got us,
(01:29):
it's so uh, but me and Russ we've been We've
been pretty locked in uh for for quite some time. Now.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
What have you seen from him so far? Uh? What? What? What?
I what? I've what we seen from Russ? Uh since
he ento this football league? Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Just just a a pure leader, uh, a playmaker uh
and and just a true prouh Is he a different?
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Find a player here? Something to improved? You think?
Speaker 2 (01:48):
I I think I believe that we all have something
uh to prove to ourselves.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
You know. Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
The first story that Rush shared uh w W with
me was uh his locker position. He's sitting in the
same locker that he set in uh when he won
the Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks. So I think
that gives some type of of of context of what it.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Means to him.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
And uh every year, uh, especially at the quarterback position,
is only one of us. So we have to approach
that uh with the type of integrity uh and and
the type of responsibility that no one else has.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
Jamus from when people talk about you when you were
coming here and even throughout your career, the first thing
they say is what a character?
Speaker 1 (02:30):
What a character?
Speaker 4 (02:31):
What a personality? Does that ever bother you that they
want to talk about that first and not mention who
you are as a football player or are you comfortable
with that?
Speaker 1 (02:42):
And just that you don't mean?
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Well, well, I I I'm grateful uh that I can
bring joy uh to the game.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
I'm I'm grateful that uh through my hard work and
effort uh on the football field that people notice me
uh by my character.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
So uh that that's just something that that comes with it.
You know, this is the this is the greatest game
in the world. So we need to be able to
uh you know, drop o drop our hair a little
bit and notice that everyone has their own individual role.
And I know what I've done in this NFL league
in terms of playing football, and I'm grateful that I
(03:18):
have that experience. But I also know that when I
first came into this to this league, that I wasn't
looked upon as a man of high character. I wasn't
looked upon as as that team oriented guy. I had
this perception of me that just wasn't true. And and
through my course of dive it in and growing every
single year, Uh, I've proven myself to be.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Who I am.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
And I think that is the greatest compliment that someone
can give you, is that you're You're truly who you are,
despite the character or the giggles. I think if you
ask any of my teammates, uh, any of my coaches
who I am, they were James is truly who he is.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
James, when you talk about the experiences that you've had throughout.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Your career, how can you bring that to Jackson.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
And help him?
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Yeah, Well, I think one of the one of the
toughest way to experience something is through experience. So I
feel like some of the trials and some of the
victories that Russ and myself or even Tommy have had
throughout our career. We're able to relay that message to
him in a way that maybe he gets a chance
(04:34):
to see something before it happens, or maybe we give
him a few nuggets that he can take so he
doesn't put himself in situations that we may have put
ourselves in. But ultimately, Jackson is his own guy. So
he's gonna get out there and he's gonna have some
great human experiences. But we can speak to him and
encourage him in a way that limits some of the
(04:57):
lack of experience that will be benefits for him.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
Touchdown at the end there, and how much have you
seen him grow? Yeah, I think all touchdowns we love.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
I don't think there's one touchdown that that I haven't
loved in my life.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
So I think we were excited about that. But it's
just the beginning.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
It is just the beginning for myself, is just the
beginning for this football team.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Uh And that's something to be excited about. But we
look good, we feel good.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Uh and and I believe we're doing some great things
uh with with the big Blue right now.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
Well, I think that is always something that coaches search for.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
In this in this in these springs signs. But one
one thing that that Dave's and and Shade and Kafka
always are emphasis emphasizing is our effort. You know, we're
learning all of us are put poor in time and
effort into this playbook.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
But how we exemplify that on the field is shown
about our individual.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
Effort, how we're running around, how we're moving fast, how
we're getting back up and trying again, how we're not
being down on ourselves, how we lifting.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
Each other up.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Uh, and I and I believe throughout this entire camp
in O t A that we have we've shown that.
So our identity is, uh, you know, a bunch of
relentless individuals hungry to get better.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Jamis.
Speaker 5 (06:20):
The landscape of the quarterback room has changed a lot
since you've signed here.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Obviously the designed RUSS.
Speaker 5 (06:25):
After that that director Jackson, are you are you still
confident that if it comes down to it, that you'll
get you'll.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Get a shot if I if that's the way it
plays out, Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
When when when it comes to that, I focus on
on what that what I can do, uh, and what
I can do is has come to work, uh with
the intention to get better every single day. Uh, not
concerning myself with the room, seeing how I can serve
the room. But my job is to be the best
Jameis Winston that I can be. And Jameis Winston incorporates
(06:56):
being a leader, helping on a little young buck, learning
things from the older older uh veteran, assisting the older
veter veteran, learning from the three year quarterback that's been
in this room. It encompasses a lot, uh But but
I stay focused on uh on on.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
What I would love, and what I would love is
to to be my very best chan.
Speaker 5 (07:16):
It's this offense the last years she really struggled to
score points, you know, down down the bottom of the league.
When you see what this team has, the receivers, the
line tight against the running backs.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Whoever the quarterback is would be Russian trust.
Speaker 5 (07:30):
Is there any reason why this offense should not be
your good.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
Offense in the league?
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Well, no, it it it it is. We're gonna do
amazing things. But I think it's it's day to day growth.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
You know. Uh.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
And and we're definitely not gonna look at last year.
We we can't really we can't focus on that, you know.
We gotta keep our eyes on what we would love
and what we would love is to be the Super
Bowl winning champions.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
And I and I think all of us would love that. Uh.
But it's a process. It's a day by day process.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
And yes, we got the pieces, you know, we got
the coaches, we got the players.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
Now it's about consistent execution.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
Chamis anymore, James, You've seen Russ obviously seen mentionicine since college.
But just when people see from the outside, hey he's
an older player, does he still have it? What have
you seen from him during your OTAs, it says, Uh,
this guy still got a chance to to lead this team.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
Uh well, I mean he he's a not a born leader, right, so, Uh,
that's that's in a bag.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
He's still athletic, you know, no matter how old he is,
he's aging like fine wine. He has a a team
of of caregivers, with a team that just supports him,
that allows him to be his best.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
And that's why he's been good for a long time. Uh.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
And and he's just uh, he's just a great player,
you know. And I think when you have constant people
maybe down or even lifting you up, you always got
the zone end into like you know what would you love?
And I think he he stays focused on what he
wants and I think that's very unique about him.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Cause whatever he's born in the past has been successful. Uh.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
So I I encourage him to continue to to focus
on that and and go higher.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
James, why names sad bags in the defense?
Speaker 5 (08:58):
Gives you a chance to be better because of what
they have a be decided?
Speaker 1 (09:02):
What have you growing up against? Another thing? Uh? Absolutely? Uh?
Uh our defense is uh is tenacious. Uh.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
I'm and I'm happy we got the addition of of
passing the debo and Javon Holland you know, Javon is
a ball hawk and I know personally the lockdown corner
that uh that passing the debo is uh. But I
know it starts with the trenches. And when you have
three and I'll say four because I love uh Nacho.
And when you got four prominent defensive linemen, two in
(09:28):
the middle, two on the edge, uh, you should win
football games. Uh, because it starts with the front.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
What thanks for us?
Speaker 3 (09:35):
The natural born leader?
Speaker 4 (09:36):
Like what's he doing on a day, like especially at
the spring.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
What he's doing?
Speaker 2 (09:39):
I I I think, I think, what what what makes anyone?
Speaker 1 (09:43):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (09:43):
A natural born leader is the ability to serve. And
I think that when you're intentional with your servitude, you
get things back. When you're a giver, you get back,
you know. When you're when you're a taker, you know,
you really don't get uh much back, you know. And
I think Rush as a server, he's he's consistently uh
(10:03):
in checking on all the guys.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
Okay, do they understand the process? Do they understand the concept?
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Uh? He's uh he's speaking to the guys uh in
the locker room. Uh, just confirming that, uh that we're
seeing the same things. And I think that is uh,
that's important, uh for the quarterback position.
