Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jason. When you guys win, you guys dose trains. Right,
it's such an emotional roller coaster. The last thing they
saw was either the best thing they ever saw or
the worst thing they ever saw. How do you avoid that?
And how do you help this.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Team avoid that? Yeah, I don't think that's abnormal from
like a fan base. It's kind of just how it
is in sports and really anything. So you know, for us,
we obviously it stings for a little bit, but you
know we got to move on with canlet to effect
the next game and next moment. So we got to
be present, We got to learn from our mistakes, acknowledge
(00:37):
some of the good things that we did, and you know,
just trying to perfect our craft and you know that
we can't.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
I think you're looking at playing a team for the
second time.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
I mean, especially this like quick of a turnaround. I
don't think I've ever done that before. So you know,
each teams is going to make a lot of adjustments
on you know what we saw two weeks ago, and
you know it's just gonna be a game of chest
and uh, you know, we have to figure out what
they're doing early, but figure out what we're doing early.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
It's just gonna be a game of constant adjustments.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
I think it stands out about you is how calm
you seem to stay in the pockets collapsing. You know,
you keep your eye that you find ways to escape.
Is that something you developed, that's something you just kind
of always naturally head.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
I feel like I've kind of always had that a
little bit, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
I I have no problem you know, sitting in the
pocket and taking a hit. You know, when I have
to deliver the ball and the same goes and I
have to extend it. So my mentality stays the same.
You know, I want to attack but also be smart.
So I tried my best to do that, and uh,
you know, when things break down, you know, try to
make a play. But I feel like it's, you know,
(01:43):
kind of just been how my place style since I
was just a little kid.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
A larger game too, Like obviously on Sunday you make
a mistake with the interception and you come right back
with the big fourth and nineteen pass. Not every quarterback
can do it, and I'm assuming that's harder than I
think to put that out of your mind. Is that
something good to learned to do, or that you've just
always be able to do.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Yeah, it's definitely, you know, it's a it's a shift
of emotions when you make a mistake like that.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
But you know, and things panned out the way that
it did.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
You know, I felt like, you know, we I didn't
have doubts on if we were going to, you know,
lose the game. You know, I felt like if we
had the ball and we're gonna be able to make it,
make some plays down the field and you know, guys,
you know, oh I did a good job receiis, did
a good job coming back to the ball, and yeah,
I felt you know, I felt I just felt confident,
you know, with the ball in my hand.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
Do you even know, like like how you keep your
composure or is it just something that you do, you
know what I mean? Like, is there a trick to
stay in common a situation like that.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
I think that when you've been put in, you know,
high pressure moments for a lot of your career since
you were a kid, you know, you kind of find
those moments enjoyable and at the same time, it's you know,
when when I watched you know, the best players in
the world when I was a kid, you know, that's
what they were doing. So I think it's just it's
exciting to have you have the ball in your hands
(03:01):
in those situations.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
What have you heard anybody that, I mean, Philly's a
notice a pretty difficult environment to play, and what have
you heard from guys about what that's going to be like?
And what do you what are your expectations on that. Yeah,
it's gonna be intense for sure.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
You know, I can't wait to go out there and compete,
and you know kind of just feel like the hostility
in the air and you know, the rivalry between the
two organizations. It's going to be really cool. And I
kind of compare it to like an SEC rivalry. So
I'm really excited for the atmosphere. I know it's going
to be intense, but uh, you're just excited for it.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
You seems to like that, you know, sort of play
the villain and kind of you know, role kind of
deal that that fair.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Yeah, I think a little bit.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
I mean I think anybody finds it enjoyable when you're
able to win games on the road, and you know,
that's something that we haven't done yet, so uh, you know,
we're still chasing that and uh, I'm just excited for
the environment.
Speaker 5 (03:55):
You mentioned before about you know, you've never had to
play team twice in three weeks. Yeah, how do you
assume that's going to be You said it's a chess
match and things like that. I mean a lot of
these teams when they after they play you, some of
the defensive players out. I mean, it was pretty good.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
You know, it's make me better than we thought.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
They know you now a little bit, but you know
them a little.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
Bit, right, So where's the advantage there?
Speaker 2 (04:17):
Mm, I don't think there's really like too much of
it an advantage for either team. It's just gonna be
the guys who execute their schemes at the highest level.
So it's important that you know, for us that we
put together a really good game plan and also have
an open mind that during the game, you know, they
might do things that we didn't really expect them to do,
and they're gonna be thinking the exact same thing.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
So yeah, like I said, it's just it's a game
of chess.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Sometimes you if you look at an offense, you get
to this point in the season, you say, Okay, I
don't think they're tapped out, but how much higher can
the ceiling be for an offense.
Speaker 6 (04:48):
For you and within this offense now though, and there's
still five do you feel where do you guys feel
like you are in terms of your potential on what
you can still do as far as finding yourselves and production?
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Yeah, I think, you know, the biggest key is you know,
obviously ball security. You know that's the biggest focus.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
But I feel like as an offense, we've gotten better
each week.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
We've been able to you know, play efficient, you know,
not have too many negative plays, which I think has
helped us in situations. But you know, I think our
goal is just to try to get better each and
every week, you know, just like anything else. And you know,
we get to go on the road and play it
against you know, a great opponent. So it's gonna be
good test for us.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
You're changing a.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Lot of players with the line on Sunday. Just what's
the processor is? Is Mike in your ear up? I know
up until fifteen seconds? Is he why you're doing that, senior?
Or that'll strictly you seeing things and you're making them changes.
How does how does that process work?
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Well, it's both because you know a lot of times,
you know, in those situations you have to make adjustments
when it turns off.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
So, you know, I think that we just are able
to see things the same way.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
And you know, credit goes to them for you know,
getting us prepared to go out there on the fields
because you know when the checks are needed to be made,
you know, I know exact you know, the exact look
what needs to happen, and.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
You know that kind of all that stuff just comes
from game planning.
Speaker 5 (06:04):
Were you very conscious and last week did you sense
it the Broncos we're doing ay they could limit your
running game, your personal scrambling running.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
Yeah, I think they did a good job.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
You know, we knew going into that game, you know
how you know how good their defense was, so you know,
I thought they did a good job. And you're kind
of out there just playing ball a little bit. You know,
they're trying to still get sacks at the same time,
but you know, I felt like they were.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Trying to, you know, keep me in the pocket a
little bit.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
But yeah, it was it was cool to go against
you know, that kind of caligory of the defense for sure.
Speaker 5 (06:39):
You know, for a certain amount of time, defenses think
they have a book on one again, you know, so
you think when people looked at you and they said.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
Look, this guy's hurting teams with his legs.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
You know, as much like Jim, you know, it's or
other guys they would have to stop.
Speaker 5 (06:52):
Is that like the next challenge when they say, Okay,
we're going to stop that because he's really good at that.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Then you have to either do it anyway or find
something else.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Well, I hope you know, throughout my career that that's
never the case where teams have a book on me.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
You know.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
I try to find tendencies in my game and make
adjustments that you know need to be made. But at
the same time, you know, playmakers just you know, find
ways to make plays. And I think that that's kind of,
you know, kind of in my mindset. You know, I
want to be a point guard of the offense, but
when things break down, I want to be able to
you know, extend plays and give my team the best
(07:27):
chance to you know, have success.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
For a lot of apples talk about the ability to
flush the game behind, ability to turn the page quickly,
especially following the loss.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
How do you approach that exact the exact same way,
you know, I, you know, pride myself on trying not
to let you know, things in the past effect.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
What I'm going to do in the future.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
And you know, as a team, we can't let that happen.
We can't, you know. We gotta find ways to finish games.
We got to find ways to win games, you know,
and get on a roll. So we have to be
very present in each moment that we have. We have
to play each game individually as hard as we can to,
you know, make sure that things, you know, like last
week didn't happen, don't happen. But I think, you know,
(08:14):
for me, I'm just trying to you know. I think
it's just a sign that, you know, we all need
to work harder, you know, we need to pay attention
more to the little details as we go about our business,
you know. And I think of that way myself. You know,
what can I do to improve, you know, each day
and to make sure, you know, things like that or
little things during the game don't slip. So I think
(08:35):
that's just kind of been the message around the locker room.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
Talking about extending plays.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
How much does that kind of get you going like
that and think of that play in one day in
the first courter offense, wasn't really doing much. You make
that play and it seemed like you guys got in
a rhythm. Is that Is that truly give you a
smock when you make a play like that.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
Yeah, I think it's really big to get a you know,
your first first down of every drive. You know, that's
so important, you know, kind of just get into a
rhythm of the off. And I felt like early on
in the game we did do a really good job
on first down, which kind of put us in hard situations,
meaning second long and third and long. So when we
were able to, you know, get that first down, we
(09:11):
were able to you know, kind of move fast and
put the defense a little bit on their hills. So
it's definitely very important to be effective on first down
and get that, you know, those first ten yards.
Speaker 5 (09:22):
Most hostile situation you've been in?
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Was it good? Pay?
Speaker 5 (09:26):
You said you feel the hostility of the year, the
most hostile there you've ever felt.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
Mmm, probably like road games.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
In the SEC, anyone in particular, I mean ELSU is intense,
and Georgia's intense, Alabama's intense, Auburn's intents.
Speaker 5 (09:48):
Yeah, I want me to keep going, and anything personally
intense where they were, Yeah, after the star quarterback and
the other team a little more personally.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
Yeah, I mean in pregames.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
You know, that's kind of just the you know, the
cool thing about sports is you're able to go into environments.
Usually it's the way teams warming up right in front
of the student section of the opposing team, and you know,
there's a ton of chirping and that just kind of
builds the environment.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
So you know, those are those are fun things to
be a part of. For sure. You like to hear
it or you tune it in.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
No, I like to hear it.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
As motivation.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Yeah, I mean it's just it's just like amps up
the intensity, amps up the moment, and uh, I mean, shoot,
it's a lot it's a lot more fun to play
play in front of that and to play in front of,
you know, no one at all, so
