Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good to be back and practicing. How how did you
buy we go? Would you focus on? Yeah, great to
be back, you know, really good energy today.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
I felt refreshing, you know, had some time off and
then every it was just excited to get back to work.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
So you just take a lot of time self scout
and uh.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
You're just gonna improve on on things we need to
improve on the next next four weeks.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
Look, what are you looking to try to accomplish its
last four weeks? When that's simple for you win four games?
Tell you one at a time.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
When you say you say self scouted, everyone always says
to be self scouted.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
I mean what does that mean?
Speaker 3 (00:34):
You grow back everything and look and analyze.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
And you know all that. What is it? You just
have conversations, you know with the coaching staff.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
You know, we're able to have that extra time to
watch you know, all the games back, all the reps back,
and you know, just try to find you know, those
things where maybe you're making a few of like similar mistakes.
Maybe there's you know, past concepts that you need to
improve at.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
So you know, during that time you.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Just work on those things and you know, just making
sure you know your mechanics are in the right spot,
so you have a little extra time to you know,
not really worry about game planning and and uh, you know,
take the time on the field to you know, walk
through your mechanics you know, based on you know, different
actions or whatever it may be.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
So, you know, definitely I felt like it was beneficial. Yeah,
you go back and watch yourself games. Did you did
you watch any games on SUN? And if so, like,
what are you watching them for?
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Are you're trying to pick little things out of it
and potentially healthy.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
Down the road?
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Yeah, I mean I love to watch that, Uh, you
know that Cincinnati and and Bill's game, you know those
are I mean there's a lot of quarterbacks around the
league who do you know, a lot of really good
things and have been bold this year, So you know,
it feels good to you know, watch those guys kind
of see the things that they're you know, exceptional at
lead at and you know, try to correlate you know,
(01:53):
some of their traits in.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Your own game watching and talking about all the improvements
you kind of want to make for yourself. What did
you watch back and what were you happy with?
Speaker 2 (02:01):
I felt like my decision making has been you know,
pretty good, like, you know, not putting the.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Ball in harm's way and.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
You know, situationally, you know, I felt like, you know,
I didn't really try to force things too much.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
I kind of just try to let the game come
to me.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
And so you know, I was happy with that. I
was happy with, you know, our offense. I don't feel
like we took take a ton of negative plays, so
you know, those were good things and I felt like,
you know, obviously the Patriots game was a tough one,
but I feel like as an offense, we've been able
to be pretty explosive and do some good stuff. So
(02:38):
you know, those are definitely things that you know, I
was happy about when I look back on it.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
What's you He's not playing this week, But what's your
relationship like with Jade? And I know you've mentioned him
a couple of times. I think you guys said you've
trained with him in the past.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Yeah, me and Jane have the same quarterback coach, so
really it's just since high school.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
I've been trained together. So what like, what what's your
relationship like? Are you friends? Competitors? Have both?
Speaker 2 (03:03):
I mean on the football field, we're always competing, but
you know, we have a really good relationship off the field,
and you know, he has a great family. So it's
been you know, fun to kind of have our journeys
cross paths along the way. If you know, I was
playing in the PAC twelve together back then and then
carrying over to the SEC, and then obviously just in
the off season, spent a lot of time just training
and and uh, you know, just kicking it off the
field as well.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
So he's a great dude, a great player, and it's
gonna be fun to compete against him again. I say,
how about you looking forward to it's gonna be in next.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Year now, Yeah, I mean we're gonna be playing against
each other a lot in the next coming years.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
So you know, just fun to you know, have that
that competition.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
I would think that game you played against him in
twenty twenty three, it's.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Got to be highlighted, that would think for your life.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
Yeah, definitely, you know that was that was a really
fun game for us, a little miss. You know, that's
one that me and Malik talk about a lot too.
And you know, they they got us in twenty twenty two. So, uh,
we've been able to go back and forth and have
some fun games.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
But uh, what did you think of a whole I mean,
it was big news, the whole link kiff In leaving
Ole Miss and not being able to coach.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
What did you think of that whole thing? Ye? Crazy?
Speaker 2 (04:10):
I think with Kiff, you know, he kind of does
some things that are unexpected. But you know, I'm I'm
looking forward to, you know, his next opportunity, and you know,
me and him just have such a great relationship and
so you know, I know for him that he's gonna
put his best foot down and do some really great
things for that program.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
And I'm definitely excited for him.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
I'm also really happy for for Ole Miss, if you know,
keeping coach Golding at.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
The helm there, and you know, I.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Was also just happy that they were able to keep
you know, their their offensive staff being able to come
back and coach the rest of the playoffs. I felt
like that was that'd be kind of, I don't know,
just like a disrespect a little bit, and all those
guys finish it out and really happy to see They're
excited to see their run for a national championship this year.
Speaker 5 (05:01):
It's been a while since you've had a division the
last one of the Eagles, I believe so how do
you feel kind of going into another division appartment and
that obviously tensions are going to get a little bit
more hypen a little bit.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Yeah, these games are huge, so really excited to get
back to it.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
Obviously, you know you watch the first game and see
how you know the teams, each team has adjusted us
and them up until this point, So it's going to
be a game of chess for sure, and it's gonna
be really good energy.
Speaker 5 (05:29):
Do you go back to that first game knowing how
bolts are so different now? Like, do you even look
at that game and take much of it?
Speaker 2 (05:36):
You know, there's maybe you know a few things you
definitely want to watch, like you know, where did they get.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Us in spots?
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Because you know those are things that more unlikely they're
going to try to come back come back to. So
you've got to be able to make sure you're prepared
and correct those things.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
And then you know you.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Got to definitely watch probably a lot more of their
most recent games.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
So that's kind of the the balance between Jack, You've.
Speaker 6 (05:57):
Spoken a lot about your leadership and be really first
time you stepped in the locker room, let alone is starting.
I'm just curious when you come back from the buy,
do you take more of the role look around the
locker room, see what guys are into it. Maybe small
guys might need a little talking to, you know, that
kind of role for you now.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Yeah, absolutely, I think it's just it's extremely important, and
you know, it's really required for us to make sure
that we, you know, these last four games, really put
our best foot down, and you know, you preach around that,
like you know, your resume is your tape, and so
making sure that everybody has the right mindset, the right
attention to detail to everything when it comes to their process.
(06:39):
And you know, I just think it's it's extremely important
to take these weeks one by one, but to be
very detailed and disciplined in our approach.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
That you get that same sense from some of your
older teammates. That's pretty much all older teammates do you
who've been through this before. It's kind of a you know,
it's all fresh and new to you.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Even with the losing.
Speaker 5 (07:00):
Some of these.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Guys that are down and they may not be here
next year, that that you have to convince them. Look,
you mentioned just before the most important things the next
four games to win. You sense that they feel that
priority that you do.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
Yeah, I do.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
You know, you definitely just have that message, like you said,
to echo across the locker room and in the meetings
and everything to making sure that you know, we are
approaching it the right way. And you know, it's definitely
new to you know a lot of us, you know,
kind of just the season that we've we've kind of
had up to this point. So they've you know, they've
also been able to you know, help the young guys.
(07:34):
I feel as well, because it's it's definitely not fun,
and you know, you just try to not be discouraged. Obviously,
you've got to just keep competing and writing it out
and you know, making sure that you know, you don't
lose sight of you know, the opportunities that you have
each week. So I feel like, you know, we just
(07:55):
have you know, good leadership throughout and we just have
we have really good guys in the locker room who
support each other and you know, really just try to
put their best foot down to win.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
We'll take three more.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
How who is the opportunity? I know you kind of
wish you probably had it with your team Corner Canyons
and your brother getting to play for like.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
And national championship type game. Yeah, I'm super jealous now,
I kind of see that.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
You know, my senior year, you know, that's that was
the best team that you know, the state of Utah
has had, So you know, I just think it's an
incredible opportunity for for them on a.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Really big stage, playing against an elite opponent.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
It's definitely gonna be a game that you know, I
help all you guys are tuned into as well, because
it's you know, I think everybody can look back to
their high school experience and you know, when you have
an opportunity to play for a national championship, I mean
that's just such a cool opportunity for your city, you know,
and and just that close knit community. So I can't
wait to watch them, and you know, hope for the best.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Kind of break it down with your brother a little
bit before. I know you're focused on your own game, but.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Yeah, no, it was it was cool of being able
to have a little bit more time to you know,
watch his tape too, and you know he's kind of
bouncing back and forth between football and basketball right now,
but being able to watch like a little bit of
high school tape and talk through you know, some things
and some keys for for him, and you know, I
know that he's you know, ecstatic for this game and
(09:19):
you know, just looking forward to supporting him. Yeah, D
a video of himself today walking into the facility without
any additional aids or gear.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
Did you get a chance to see him? How good
was it to see him without crutches or food or scooter.
It was definitely like just a bright spot.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
I know that, like he's obviously thrilled to kind of
have that relief, and you know, I know that his
recovery is coming along, you know, really well. So it's
good to just see him, you know, come into the
facility today with the smile on his face and he's
just a you know, really good guy to have in
the locker room. And I know it's it's been really
hard for him in these last you know, these these
(09:54):
weeks that he's just had, you know, time to recover
and whatnot, because you know, his love is football. So
you know, I'm just happy that he's able to you know,
get back into the facility more be around the guys
and you know see him with the small
