Speaker 1 (00:00):
I know you're not a stats guy, so I won't
quote your stats. But it was a very efficient, very
productive game. How proud are you of that after coming
back from a tough game against Minnesota last week?
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Yeah, I was confident that, you know, we as a team,
we're going to bounce back and play better. I knew
that I was going to play better this week, and
you know, I just I like the game plan. I
felt like we got into a flow early and kind
of just controlled the game from from there and out
We're just super balanced, and yeah, it definitely.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Felt good op tempo, getting rid of the ball quick,
very very assertive, I thought, and getting that ball out.
How much of that game plan really suited what you
wanted to do today?
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Yeah, we were kind of interested to see what they
were going to be, you know, playing on the on
the defensive side, especially with you know, some of their
guys out, and uh, you know, they played a lot
of soft zone and you know when you have guys
like Wandell and and Sleigh and Zay and and Gunner
and and and Belly and those guys just being able
to find windows in the zone. Uh, we just played
really efficient and uh, you know, I felt like, you know,
(00:58):
besides you know the sacks that you know, I just
kind of slipped on. I just felt like we were
always ahead of the sticks and just played sound football.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
You ran for a couple of touchdowns, and I thought
you also protected yourself extremely well. To me, it was
another step forward. You well, I thought it was another
step forward in your maturity and development. How did you
see it?
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Yeah, I like, like I said, like, I'm going to
continue to learn. I'm gonna make mistakes here and there,
and I'm gonna bounce back from them. I'm gonna have
some hits that I took early on that were you
know that I saw was kind of unnecessary, and then
you just make adjustments and uh, you know, at the
same time, you got to continue to just play your game.
You can't make somebody into somebody that they're not. So yeah,
I just felt like, uh, you know, definitely played smart
(01:38):
and you know, just got away from any of the
unnecessary stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
Got to ask you about Windell thousand yards receiving only
twelve Giants player to ever do that in history. Did
you know how close he was? Well, you're keeping track
because it looked like you were trying to feeding the
ball to get him there as much as you could.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
That's my guy. That's my guy. I mean, I have
all the confidence in the world in him, and I
know that he can beat any coverage and uh, he's
just a guy that competes at such a high level.
So when you just have that trust with with guy
out there and you can make checks on plays, you know,
to get him on you know, little option routes and whatnot.
And I think that he's just a mismatch and you
got to see today like what he can do with
(02:15):
the ball in his hand and making people miss. But
I'm just I'm just really happy for him because he's
a hell of a player and he definitely deserves it.
Giants Pick evaluated all options, including that quarterback.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
Did you hear about that report.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
For the game?
Speaker 1 (02:33):
No?
Speaker 3 (02:33):
I did not hearing that. What is that?
Speaker 1 (02:37):
I guess how do you process.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Something like that? I think it's I'm gonna continue to
play my ball. I know I'm gonna be here for
a very long time. And uh, I'm just excited to,
you know, start winning more games and you know, turn
this place around and do my job and we have
a bright future. And you know, that was one thing
that I was just standing on the sideline and I'm
(02:59):
watching that do ball, I'm watching da ball, I'm watching
you know, Scott was here today. And when you just
think about like this, Rikie class, I think that, you know,
we have a really bright future and we're going to
be a big pivot and turn this thing around.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Jackson, you talked earlier in the week about being sick
of losing.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Yeah, how long did nine weeks without would have win
feel like?
Speaker 3 (03:17):
And what did this would like to have a long.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Room like this work change? Way too long? Definitely way
too long. We gotta start doing this more because definitely
feels a lot better. But you know, just looking for
looking forward to this playing fight with the guys for sure,
just to you know, kind of have that you know,
good energy with every single one of us and then
you know, just try to do our best to to
(03:40):
finish this this year out the right Jackson.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
You heard all week people were talking outside the building
about this is the tank goal. Both teams are losing,
both teams want the number one pick, Both teams are
putting guys on I R. Some for some reasons, some
for other reasons. You're pretty new in this franchise. What
did you think of this week and did you ever
have any doubts that this franchise would approach the game
the way that it did?
Speaker 2 (04:04):
No, I didn't. I felt like it was just noise.
Sometimes that just that just happens, you know, us not
really having the year that we've wanted, and people just
start talking. But from a player perspective, from a team perspective,
I felt like we were dialed all week and you know,
we needed to win, like, you know, just a morale,
(04:25):
just like some excitement. Finally, like we needed to win
and that's how we felt. What was it like in
this locker run?
Speaker 1 (04:31):
I'll say it it was way too long, but just
what did it feel like?
Speaker 2 (04:33):
I'm in this locker run feeling like finally, after two
and a half months, you can celebrate a win. I
mean it feels it just feels great. You definitely want
to just start doing this more for sure.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
What was your favorite part.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
About what you did today?
Speaker 1 (04:44):
What you said?
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Mm, I just felt like I was efficient, took what
the defense gave me, didn't try to force the ball
into unnecessary things when you know they're playing kind of
a deep shell and trying to keep everything in front
of them. And sometimes you know, as quarterbacks, we can
get a little impatient because you want to have a
big play. But I felt like I was just played deficient,
(05:07):
use my legs. I just felt like I was, you know,
in a rhythm.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Really is this the blend that you want that you
need to play with running the ball, throwing it? You know,
I mean maybe you want to have some more big
plays downfield, But you know what I'm saying. I mean,
you know, should he run, should't you run? Should he
get at it? It's not get it? I mean you
played and you just seem to play today. You ran
out of boundary, you needed to run out of boundary,
ran for first downs, you dove into the end zone.
(05:32):
I mean, it's just what you are.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Yeah, I think that, you know, I think that I'm
a player that can do a lot of different things,
you know, throwing the ball. I think I'm a smart player.
I think I used my legs as an advantage. So
I just felt good to be back out there and
in a rhythm. And I thought the guys around me
played really well. The line blocked their ass off and
did a great job protecting me, giving me time. And
(05:56):
you know, the guys on the outside on the perimeter
were able to find the zone, make a great plays,
active catch break tackles, and yeah, I just felt like
greind a flock
