Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm curious, why don't you take us through the process
and what this has been like and how your mind
it all played out and up here with the Giants.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Well, it's been an exciting process actually, you know, I
think obviously being in Pittsburgh last year was was a
lot of fun and just a great organization, and you know,
being a free agent, obviously, the opportunity you know, possibly
be back in Pittsburgh obviously, you know, I think you
guys know that got to go to the Browns another
you know, another organization's first class in every way, and uh,
(00:28):
and then coming here, I really loved just the whole
process here and just obviously Joe and coach day Ball
and and the rest of the staff and people here.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
I mean just the environment.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
I obviously love playing in matt Life State and a
lot of good memories here and everything else, but just, uh,
what really was exciting was the players, the guys, you know,
just the some of the guys that got to meet here,
you know, at that at the facility, but also to
some of the guys have admired playing against guys like
Dexter Lawrence and guys like Burns and other guys that
(00:58):
you get to admire guys I've actually played with guys
like Chris Manhertz and adultcic And and many others, and
then watching this you know, freak of an athlete and neighbors.
I mean, this guy, when he touches the ball, he
may score every single time. And so he's been exciting.
I've gotten to talk to him along the way. He's
fired up, and we just have had a lot of
good conversations so far, and we're.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Just really excited to get to work.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
I'm excited about the young guys, you know, guys like
Theo Theo and what he can do, and experienced guys
like Darius and his ability to get down the field
and make plays. I think I think I talked to
Jaylen Hyatt today a little bit too. I just think
that he's a guy that's been untapped and in terms
of what he knows he's capable of. And so it's
just been a really good process. And there are many others,
(01:41):
you know, uh Wandale Robinson, you know, I mean, he's
like a running back. Every time he touches the ball,
he's hard to tackle. His ability to make people miss
his his catch is his ability to get away from
guys and his capability. I've played with some guys like
that before, and there's many others along the way. Obviously,
the backs and what they're able to do. They're they're
so young and talented, but uh, and then the guys
(02:03):
up front. It always starts with the guys up front
and what they're capable of. And uh, seeing a guy
like Andrew Thomas in the weight room, you know, doing
squats and doing everything he was doing the other day,
and just being around him a little bit, and uh,
guys like GVR and just talking to different guys along
the way. It's just been a really smooth process that's
got giving me a lot of confidence. Obviously this fan base,
talking to mister Mara himself and uh and in them
(02:26):
and just the whole staff, and it's been really special.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
And maybe then what did.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
The giants, uh, you know, explain to you about your
role and what they're expecting from you here and how
do you expect to be the starter? You have to
compete for that, Like, how do you how do you
view that?
Speaker 2 (02:40):
Yeah, I expect to be the starter and come in
here and be ready to rock and roll every day.
I think that you know, to be able to lead.
I think this team's really looking for somebody to lead
them in every way in terms of the process, you know,
in the off season, during the season, our habits and
our thought process, and how we create a you know,
a great winning culture, and how do we continue to
establish that and and to really build on the things
(03:01):
that we do well and the things that we continue
to need to do.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
And so I think the.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Big part for me is, man, just try to this
might might be my fourteenth year to be able to
lead amazing group of men that really have, you know,
big hopes and goals and dreams and desires and we
all share the same goal and and so I think
that's the best part about it is I get to
be around a lot of you know, extremely extremely talented guys.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
Staple, Hey, Ross, welcome, Thank.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
You man, appreciate it.
Speaker 5 (03:32):
Man.
Speaker 6 (03:33):
I'm just curious in terms of your relationship with Brian Dabeles,
had you had any interaction previously and what were the
last couple of weeks like trying to really you know,
see if you would fit into what he wants to do,
and how have you guys messed your person out.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Yeah, I think Dave Ball is one of the most
competitive guys. You get to see it, you know, you know,
in terms of his play calling. Over the years, he's
coached some amazing guys, guys like Josh Allen, guys like Tua,
guys like Jalen Hurts, and college and stuff, and just
some other places that he's been. There's been some familiar
people that I know that he knows as well and
(04:10):
that he's close with, and so just we've been able
to bond on that and just the experience of loving
the game. This guy's I think he's won five Super Bowls,
you know, I believe it is with you know, being
at the Patriots, has won the National Championship. He's been
around greatness. He knows what it looks like, he knows
what it sounds like. This guy's been a Coach of
the Year that wasn't that long ago, a couple of
years ago, and so you know, there's a standard that
(04:34):
he knows, you know, what that looks like, especially offensively
and and how he sees the game. And I really
love that part about him and what he brings to
the table. And you know the rest of the staff
as well. I got to spend some great time with
guys like Kafka and Shay Tiernan, who I've known for years,
all the way back from when I was at NC
State and I was eighteen years old, and just but
(04:54):
what I really like about Dave's is just his mentality,
his attack mentality. We haven't been a a whole bunch
of ball yet, but I've been able to see a
bunch and over the years and understand who he is
and what he brings to the table. So I think
that's the exciting part about what we can do and
all the guys we have around us.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
Thank you, Ryan, to Leabe.
Speaker 7 (05:18):
Russell, thanks for doing this.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
Welcome to New York.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Thank you man, good to be here.
Speaker 7 (05:23):
Two things for you. First of all, you have your
own Hall of Fame resume. And yet there were a
lot of credible reports that the Giants, the Steelers, maybe
some other teams were waiting for Aaron Rodgers' decision before
they moved forward with you. Did that bother you to
be treated like anybody's plan B when you have done
(05:45):
what you have done in this league.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
You know what I think about is that, first of all,
Aaron Rodgers a tremendous football player. He's done some amazing
things in this League. I've been fortunate to be able
to do some great things too, and really what I'm
focused on is right now and what we can do here.
That's been my phone focus, uh, since I've signed and
everything else, and and also too along the ways is
finding the place that that continue to believe in you. Obviously,
(06:08):
Pittsburgh was a special special place for me. You know what,
Pittsburgh brought me so much love.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
Man.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
I have so many teammates that I'm super close with,
Guys like TJ and Cam, guys like Miles Killerbrew, guys.
I got to share the captain, patching away with those
guys every day. But there's so many others that go unnoticed,
and those those relationships and experiences. Man, I I cherish
that every day. I have some some of my greatest
(06:32):
memories being there and with some great guys, people that
you go unsung, guys like d Why that you guys
may not know, but he's a guy played in the
league and has been helping the players every day and
help help me every day. Just many others and and
and the coaches as well in the fan base. But
you know, coming here, obviously, being in New York, it's
exciting place to play. It's a place that wants to win.
(06:53):
It's a place that knows how to win and has
one before. And so for for me, it's it's bringing
everything I know, all the experiences, all the touchdowns, all
the wins, but also all the love and passion for
the game to the to this locker room. And that's
what I'm really excited for. And it's going to be
a special, special thing, and we we got to go
go work for it every day and go do it.
Speaker 7 (07:13):
Would you have signed here last year when you visited
RUSS if they'd given you a chance the starter or
told you you were the starter.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
I mean, listen, I think free agency, there's always thirty
two teams. You know, it's like it's a process, you know,
and you can't sign with all thirty two. But you know,
I'm excited about the one I signed with today and
so it's an exciting day.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Thank you, Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
And then Barnes Russell, welcome to New York, man. I
appreciate you.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Thank you man. Good to see it.
Speaker 8 (07:39):
Likewise, obviously you have some history of bad life. You
want your Super Bowl here, so I'm curious when you
look at the chance to be able to play back
at this stadium just kind of like does that you
think about like that memory kind of flooding your mind
or how much the DAK kind of like excites you
about being part of this team.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Yeah, well just playing in met life. You know, I
have some amazing memories here. Some of my most fond
memories of this game that'll poured my heart and soul
into every day have happened right here in this stadium,
right across the street I met Live Stadium. So I'm
excited to create some more memories with some amazing teammates
and really for this fan base. And so really what
it what it takes though, is just one day at
(08:15):
a time being you know, crazy, crazily obsessed with the
process and the days and what we can do and
just went in the day and what happens is, you know,
great things happen with that.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
And so it's a collective effort.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
But I definitely it was definitely when I pulled up
to the to the stadium and told to the facility
of the day and when I pulled.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
Up last week.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
It it makes you feel some type of way, you know,
it makes you get excited about you know, the possibilities
of what this team can do.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Thank you, Thank you.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
I'm Ron Rose. I had two quick points for you,
if you don't mind.
Speaker 9 (08:45):
The first is, obviously the Giants are a team that
still could draft the quarterback next month.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Is that something you discussed with them?
Speaker 4 (08:53):
And how would how would you handle that if it's a.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
You know, a very eye pick.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Listen, I think that you know, every NFL team nowadays
have two to three quarter back to usually three nowadays,
and so obviously right now we have you know, Tommy Devido,
have Jamis and myself and uh, we're just excited to
get to work. And so the great part about professional
sports is constant change, is constant movement and everything else.
If we draft a quarterback, you know, we'll make sure
that he does everything he can to be ready to
go and be prepared with his mentality. But for me, uh,
(09:20):
it's it's about the process of winning. I'm focused on winning.
What I can do as the quarterback of the New
York Giants to help us win and to do everything
that we can to lead.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
And I'm excited. Man.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
I've been gifted with so much in this game in
terms of experiences and things have gone through all the
great moments, some tough ones along the way, but but
also to being inside those white lines. That's the that's
that's my most favorite place to be. And so I'm
excited to do that and to you know, to rock
the New York Giants Jersey.
Speaker 10 (09:51):
The second question was you teased us a little bit
about your conversations with Blik.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
You said you've been you've been chatting with him a
little bit.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
What were those like? What what do you see from him?
Speaker 10 (10:00):
How can you how can you bring out the best
of him?
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Yeah, he's an explosive athlete. Just his ability to make plays.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
I love the league man, just watching him and his
his personality on the field, his demeanor.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
I watched this one clip.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
I was watching a bunch of plays of him and
just he caught this one catch against the Commanders on
a shallow cross and on third down and he cut
back inside, got another extra twenty yards, got hit pretty good.
He kind of laid the boom with vice versa, and
he got up right away and just was celebrating and
excited about the first down and just move on to
the next play. And just the competitor, the warrior that
he is. There's a lot of guys like that. That
(10:33):
same play, I noticed that THEO was blocking down the
field and making a huge block, and those kind of
things is what championship football looks like. And obviously listening,
he catches the screen against the Colts and takes it
eighty yards seventy yards.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
That's pretty special.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
There's only so many human beings in the world that
can do that, and he's one of them.
Speaker 11 (10:51):
Thanks a lot, yep, Paul Schwartz, Hey, Russ, Sorry, I
think my camera is not on.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
So it's all right, right, I'm used to the assumed thing.
Speaker 11 (11:02):
But now, yeah, just think of like a kind of
like a brand pitch sort.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
Of got it. I've heard that one before.
Speaker 11 (11:09):
Yeah, yeah, Look, we all know your stats. We know
the you know the numbers, you know the pedigree, the
Pro Bowls, the Super Bowl. The past three years, the
stats have not been there, the wins have not been there.
Speaker 3 (11:23):
This is your third team in three years.
Speaker 11 (11:24):
So what what do you say to the giants?
Speaker 7 (11:28):
You know?
Speaker 11 (11:28):
And what do you say to yourself that that's not
a player in decline? I have a lot left to give,
you know, what.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
What do you feel about that?
Speaker 3 (11:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (11:36):
I think that first of all, you never feel like
you do enough unless you win it all, you know,
And that's how I've always felt, you know, And you know,
I've had some amazing years and different different things along
the way. And so anytime you don't win it all
as a competitor, as a warrior, you want to be
able to.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
Win it all and say you did it that year.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
And so you know, my focus is doing it this
year and trying to find a way to do it
with these guys, and that's what I'm really excited about.
And so for me personally, you know, you know, I'm
excited to get to work and just focus on that
part of it. I know that when you put the
hard work in, great things happen. And I'm excited about
the great things are going to happen here.
Speaker 11 (12:10):
Thank you.
Speaker 9 (12:11):
Yeah, Mike Gariffolo, Russ, Welcome to Jersey.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
Thanks man. I appreciate you how you've been.
Speaker 9 (12:19):
Yeah, those of us here on the west side of
the Hudson, I'm gonna make sure, but I listen. Having
said that, it is the New York market that you've entered,
and you guys, as a family, have a lot of
interest outside of football. So how much was knowing that
you're going to be playing in this market. A big
part of you sounding here.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
It wasn't really a factor really in terms of outside
of it. I think more than importantly, I just love football,
and you know, it's a place that I think, you know,
with coach day Ball and what he's been able to do,
and the play call that he is and the aggressive
nature that he has throughout the game in all different ways,
I was excited about that. I was watching the playmakers
and all the things that they are capable of and
(12:58):
what they've done so far in the the youth there
and and the talent across the board. You know, this
defense and how they fly around and you know, uh,
this defense was one of the top bleeding sacked defenses
you know, in the NFL for a while. And so
I just have a lot of respect for this, for
this organization. You know, I just walking this in this
building down this hallway, Mike, and just being here, and
(13:21):
you know, I got here and this you know, ed
Triggs and this is one of the first guys I
sat with and uh, you know, the first day I
got here on my visit and sitting here and having
having breakfast with the guys and different people here and
meeting the string staff and the training staff and everybody
along the way, the equipment staff.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
It's a special place.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
But a lot of the memories I think has brought
me here, you know, in a in a great way too,
as well as the players and the coaching staff. But
I think a lot of the memories because I've walked
this hallway when we won the Super Bowl, I remember
being the quarterback room and it was the two nights
before and my old quarterback coach, coach Carl Smith, people
call him Tater, you know. He said, man, it's just
(13:58):
ball baby, just be you three. And so I just
remember that, you know, and being in that room and
some of the great you know, obviously Eli Manning being
here in that same room years before, and just a
lot of those things and just uh there's been a
lot of great players on you know, on this field,
and just it's a special place, I think obviously for
our family, we're excited to be here just because it's
the New York Giants and it's a great organization. And uh,
(14:20):
they surround surround you with so much love and and
and and and care and rooting for you to be
your best and so That's what I'm excited about. And
just to be able to talk to uh mister mar
himself and just have a you know, great conversation with
him when I was here on my visit and then
then yesterday on the phone, you know, when I was
about to sign everything else was really exciting. So I'm
excited about this opportunity to play football.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
Thanks man, Thank you. Good sing.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
Hey Russ?
Speaker 12 (14:46):
Who are you, hey, dear?
Speaker 3 (14:47):
How you doing.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
I'm doing well? Thanks for asking. Welcome to the New
Jersey market.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
Thank you, Russ.
Speaker 4 (14:52):
You mentioned earlier about your Super Bowl you know, experience
and whatnot. Can you just talk a little bit about
the that that winning mentality to the locker room. I
know every guy has a different approach to it. What
can you bring to the locker room to get kind
of get that winning mentality?
Speaker 2 (15:09):
Yeah, I think that the first part of it is
is our habits and on our approach every day, you know,
our study habits. So you know, how how we you know,
how we how we go to work every day, how
we push each other every day on and off the field.
You know, I think winning is a process and winning
is also a habit, and and so how we go
about that, you know, you know what are habits like
(15:31):
it daily in our approach, our mentality, how we communicate
with one another.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
You know. I it's funny.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
You know, my old you know, mental coach Trevor Moadd
who passed away of cancer, is one of my closest
people I've ever known, and he used.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
To always say simple wins.
Speaker 5 (15:45):
You know.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
Sometimes it's the little things that you do well.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
You know, if I use basketball terms, you know, I
get to go to the next game tonight. I'm excited
to go watch them play. But at the end of
the day, you got to make your free throws and layups.
And I think the same thing in football. You know,
we gotta we got to hit the ones that are
open with gota hit the ones. We got to make
the big plays. We got to also, you know, do
all the fundamentals really well, offensively, defensively, special teams, all
the things that we know. And uh, I think that
(16:09):
these guys in this locker room, Uh, they're really excited
about the opportunity of what we can bring to the table.
Been talking to a bunch of guys all the old
linemens and the tight ends and and uh and running
backs and receivers and just different guys, and so we're
excited about the opportunity of that. You know, I got
to talk to Brian Burns before it kept coming here
and just you know his love for the game and
what a great player he is, and so just it's
(16:30):
a great opportunity. And so but with opportunity, we got
to go see it, we got to go capitalize on it.
We've gotta work for it every day. And there's no
there's no magic pill to that. You know, you got
to do the work. You gotta love the hard work,
uh and the attention to detail that it takes.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
Then just one more quick one if I may have
you had a conversation with coach Stable about maybe taking
his offensive system, maybe tweaking it a little bit more
to the things that you do well or has that
not taken place yet.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
Yeah, we haven't gotten into those details yet. You know.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
It's it's it's really just you know, making sure that
you know that everything works out in me getting here
at first, and then now we can get to work
in a couple of weeks, a few weeks from now,
and we're excited about that. I know, just being with
the guys is gonna be a lot of fun and
just getting to work. I know a lot of us
want to get thrown already, and by talked to Malik
a little bit about that, THEO and some of the receivers,
(17:19):
Darius and and so some of the other guys too
as well one Dall and just you know, Trace and
a lot of guys want to get together and start working.
I'm excited about doing that right away, and and and
and start spinning the football round with those guys.
Speaker 4 (17:34):
Thank you, Yeah, we'll take four more.
Speaker 7 (17:36):
Connor Hughes, Hey, what's up, bruss Man? How you doing?
Speaker 3 (17:39):
What's up? Connor? How you doing man?
Speaker 4 (17:41):
I'm doing good.
Speaker 10 (17:42):
So early in your career you were part of a
Seahawks team that had signed a veteran that was expected
to start, and then you were kind of the rookie
that came in and and took that job for himself. So,
if the Giants do go out here, and whether it's
third or overall or at some point later on in
the first round, second round and draft a quarterback, how
you approach mentoring a guy who could potentially end.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
Up replacing you.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
Yeah, I think the first thing is is that you
your first thing is you always handle you know yourself first.
You always get yourself prepared the highest level in control
what you can control. And part of that is is
doing everything I can to be my best every day.
And then from there, you know, from from leading in
that sense, everybody else grows with you.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
From that.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
You know, they learn from you, and they see it.
They see how you work, they see your practice habits,
they see your mental habits and how you go about it,
your approach every day, and so you know, I'm excited
about the opportunity to continue to lead not just the
quarterback room, but but but really the locker room in
every way and my approach and just what that looks like.
So I'm excited about the opportunity to obviously lace up
(18:48):
the cleats and get after and be on the field
and help our football team win.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
Outliner maybe on mute my.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
Friend, I don't know, We'll go to Jewelry Epstein next.
Speaker 12 (19:11):
Al.
Speaker 5 (19:12):
You mentioned a couple of specific plays that you watch
from a leak as well as your other new teammates.
You only just sign your deal, but how much have
you watched some of your team? I have you heard
you watched them? And I guess what's that process of
getting up to speed. I know you're getting used to
going from one team.
Speaker 10 (19:25):
To the next.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Yeah, I'm kind of a film rat, so I've watched
a lot. I've watched pretty much every catchup eachy guy.
I've watched a lot of highlights of them. Just you
really you get engulfed in it because you know it's
it's it's everything.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
You know, if we really want to win, it's got
to be your lifestyle.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
It's got to be every morsel of your body and
your bean's got to think about winning and what that
looks like. And you're always I always say that, you know,
when you're playing quarterback, you're you're finding the best in
each guy every day, you know, and certain guys are
great at certain things. Certain guys don't even know that
they could be great at that yet. And certain guys
they may make a flash play, maybe they made it
(20:03):
once or twice, but they just haven't had that opportunity
to do it again. And so all that kind of
goes into playing football in the game, and I always say, KYP,
know your personnel and just what guys are great at.
And we got a lot of guys that are great,
a lot of things.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
You know, we have a.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
Team that can really really run, and we want to
be able to use that speed in every way. Obviously,
guys like Malik and one Dall and what they can do.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
Guys like THEO. You know, Chris Manhertz is.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
I'm not sure if he's gonna be running deep post
routes or anything, but he's a physical being I've played
with and he's been in the league, his professionalism, what
he can do. The backs that we have, I mean,
I think these guys are hard to tackle, seeing a
lot of guys running the football and making people miss
and catching the ball at the backfield too.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
So and really, I think the fun part that.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
Me and Dave Ball get to experience and the rest
of the staff and Kafka and and and Shay and
everybody else putting this thing together is really, you know,
how do we make our players be at their best
every play every day? And uh, that's part of what
I get to do and when I'm excited about doing
and the process of that and and just loving the
process of it. So a big part of that is
(21:13):
understanding what the film looks like and spending all my
time watching that and.
Speaker 3 (21:17):
So yeah, I've watched.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
Uh, I think everything you can imagine so far of
these guys and the good the good parts.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
They're young.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
You know, I've gotten to play with some really great
young talent over the years that are still learning and growing,
and you bring them with you, you know, you take
them there, you take them where they can go, and
you give painting a picture for them. And uh, and
I'm excited about doing that.
Speaker 4 (21:41):
Lennard An doing sorry about that earlier.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
No worries.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
Would you be?
Speaker 12 (21:49):
I know you're saying you want to be on the field,
you want to play, you want to help the team win.
When a team drafts a quarterback number three overall, usually
the guy plays pretty early. Just curious, you know, from
your standpoint, would you be willing to make to a
guy that might end up taking your starting job early
in the season or have you received any assurances from
the team that that won't happen, that that.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
This is a year for you to be a starter.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
Yeah, you know, the first of all, you know, obviously
I'm expecting to come in there and be a starter
and earning that every day because you're mentality in your approach.
I just believe that you know, when you play this position.
My goal every day step on the field is help
our football team win and ultimately to be the best
in the world and be one of the best that
can do it. And I think that's my mentality, you know,
(22:32):
and no understanding that, and so I'm excited about the opportunity.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
To lead everybody.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
It's not just it's not just one room, one guy,
one thing, it's the whole organization. I think that's the
thing that you realize, you know, being a quarterback in
the National Football League, Man, you got the best freaking
job in the world or one to thirty two. And
the reality is it's you're like a CEO in a way,
of an organization, a corporation.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
It's the whole process of it all.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
And so you're not just leading one person, You're you're
leading a whole entire fan base too. And so I'm
excited about that and the approach of that every day.
And so I'm excited. I know, I know what my
talents are, i know what I'm capable of, and I'm
excited to put those you know, you know between the
white lines.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
Last one.
Speaker 13 (23:14):
Charlie Carroll's welcome to New Heart.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
Thank you so much. Appreciate you for taking the time.
Speaker 13 (23:21):
Obviously, you're joining a team that went three and fourteen
last year. I guess, why do you believe in this group?
And where do you think they're headed for you to
join them kind of at the crux and especially when
the offense hasn't changed too much beyond the quarterback position.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
Yeah, I think, first of all, I watched the talent
and the guys that make plays. I think, first of all,
that's a huge thing.
Speaker 3 (23:39):
I think.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
Second of all is you know, I think Dave Balls
a trimendous football coach. You know, it's funny how people
forget sometimes how great a person or coach a person
is over some tough times. And I think the guy
just want to, you know, coach of the year just
not too long ago. You know, I think that. I
think I sometimes I love the underdog mentality.
Speaker 3 (23:58):
You know too as well. I think that's kind of
been my approach every day of my life.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
I don't know, maybe being five eleve, I don't know
what it is, but you know, a lot of people
tell you.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Can't do something.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
I love challenges, I love adversity, I love I love
all that stuff, and uh, you know, and I think
the best part is just trying to you know, bring
us out into the other side of winning and what
that looks like. And so you know, this is a
good football team I got to play last year, you know,
in a great battle, and just a lot of great
football players in that field.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
And so you know, like I said, we're just focused
on We're not focused on the end goal right now.
We're focused on the process.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
And I'm just enjoying today, you know, the opportunity of
today and to be a New York Giant. But well,
we'll get to work, uh with these guys, and we'll
have a lot of fun and really really challenge every
guy every day to be our best and most important,
starting with myself, you know, and just wanting to be
that for myself every day and for this team.
Speaker 13 (24:53):
If I could follow up really quickly when you guys
played them last season, I guess what stood out from
you on the other side being on the other Well, we.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
Got Dexter Lawrence chasing after you, Sexy Dexy. I guess
you know, it's never a good thing. So now I'm
glad he's chasing after the other quarterbacks, you know, Burns
and what he's able to do. The linebackers, how they
fly around, you know, just uh, you know, the secondary.
I think we have some really great additions too, and
just a lot of I think Joe's done a good
job of bringing a guy like Holland and who's makes
(25:21):
tremendous plays all over the field, and just so there's
a lot of talented guys, you know, And so I'm
just excited about the youth. I think about Tay Banks
and how great of a young player he is, and
you know, just different guys that you have along this
team that are just you know, about to have their
break breakout years in my opinion, and so I'm excited
to be a part of all that
