Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's this like now, Like it's like the calm for
the storm. Obviously you had some more days left, but
the season the starting next. Yeah, this is this is
a great part about the season.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Obviously, you know, to be able to get through training camp,
ot as, all that and all the work that we've
done as a team, a collective effort, and the growth.
We've had a lot of great days, a lot of
a lot of great moments obviously in the preseason ot as,
all the camaraderie, all that part.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
That's that's been great.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
And so I think what's exciting is we have to
do what we love to do here and I don't know,
you know, thirteen days however many days it is, and
so it's it's exciting and we're just staying focused on
the task.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
What really, Randolph have to say to you here?
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Yeah, I know WILLI Randolph for a while obviously going to.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Big league spring training and being with the Yankees and
all that. So Willie and I we got to turn
a lot of double plays. He said, now you can
still turn the mean and double play.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
But it's uh.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
He was amazing obviously as a player, but also as
a man as a person. I got to know him
over the years and just a great mentor, you know,
understands what success looks like, championship mentality. And so we
were talking about the Gangs, We're talking about a lot of ball,
talking about.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Just being here in New York and that that experience
of that. So I'm excited.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
I've known him for years and just the bond that
we've had sitting over lunch and having breakfast together and
then taking grounders and hitting VP together.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
It's a lot of a lot of fun and a
lot of history.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
I know you and Malie Kevin obviously had any game
reps yet, but I saw you guys out there working
together before that final preseason game. Where are you guys
at from a chemistry standpoint as you head into the season.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
And we felt great, great.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
I think the best part about it is, you know,
Leak's been a great worker this whole time, and coming
down to San Diego and all the time got to
spend together, and his work ethic there, OTAs and really,
you know, just the mentality. Even though he wasn't working
physically as much at that point, he was in every meeting,
every rep, every discussion, just with really great thoughts.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
I think he's going to have a great year.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
I think the best part about him is obviously he's
a threat down the field, but he's also threat anytime he.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Touches the ball, whether it's the short game, mid range game,
all the different things he can do. And so I
think the fun part too.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Has got a lot of other great black guys too,
and and Sleigh and one Dell and many others and
so but he's uh, he's definitely worked at it every
day and our bond is really close. I think the
best part about it is we spent a lot of
time together. You know, we went to dinner the other
night with the fellas and and just was cracking up
about a bunch of different things. And then just also
to the time under tension in terms of spending time
(02:25):
together throughout training camp and OTAs of you know, treatment
and just different things. We talked about life, ball, you know,
and then obviously he's got the locker next to me,
so we spend a lot of time together just talking
about whatever it may be.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
So you know, I'm excited.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Obviously, We've always got to do the work, you know,
that's the best part about this game.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
You got to do the working. He's not shy of that.
I'm not either. So lets see, we've seen it last year.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
I think from at leastrom our perspectives, we look like
he was like some little quiet on the quiet side,
and especially on the field, and we saw him a
little fired up here.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
At the end here. Yeah, No, Maleak's great man. He's
he's a great communicator.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
He's done a really good job of communicating, like I
said earlier in the meetings, and and you know feel too,
he sees things extremely well. He has so much confidence
in him, you know, and just what he brings to
the table. He's been a great leader. I think he's
really stepped up in that way. He's just I wasn't
here obviously last year, but just to see his growth
even from day one of just being around the fellows
and just seeing what he's.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
Been able to do and how he leads.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
And he's got you know, a great guys around him too,
like I said earlier, than Slagh who's been in the
game for a while, been here for a while, been
through the ups and downs, challenges of all that. But
also too, you know, we just have all great, great
belief he saw him in the game, so neighbors in
the game. How you know salvatory he is with all
the guys and the fellas, even though he's not playing
like those those moments, those moments are the great ones,
and I think he's doing a great job of that.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
So you have heard about the focus. Coaches said, it's
about you guys, focusing on yourself right now. But as
someone who's been in this league for a long time,
when do you start getting excited emotionally about opening Day?
As the day's approach in Washington's on him cup for
the horizon.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
I try to.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
I think I'm already focused on that, you know, of
being there, you know, being mentally prepared for that, studying
you know as well, and understanding what they do extremely well.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
They do a lot of the great things.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Well know, Dan Quinn extremely was a tremendous football coach,
their defense coort of Joe's great defensive coordinator as well.
Just the players, obviously Bobby, different guys that have played
against They got tremendous talent, guys like obviously Louvo and
now Vaughn the addition of him, and just so you
know that it's a division game, you know, there's significance
(04:30):
of it, you know all that, But at the end
of the day too, we focus on the moment, focus
on each day just being great and just being great
mentally as well, and understanding that you're just getting ready
for that moment. You don't want to get too high
too early, just try to And that's just kind of
honestly me too. It is just trying to stay neutral.
I believe in just you know, staying right here through
(04:53):
the high moments, the tough moments, the great ones, the
preparation moments, just understanding what we're getting to and just
kind of let it, you know, build up and get
ready to rock and roll.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
Rus Solo. You have not played a regular season game
yet for this team.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Do you feel, in this relatively short time you have
put your stamp or your imprint on this team the
way you want to? Yet?
Speaker 1 (05:12):
No, I think it's a daily process. You're always doing that.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
I think it's you're you're never done leading, You're never
done like leadership is a daily, daily, daily goal task thought,
you know, language, championship, mentality, all that you know is
a daily process. It's a daily thought.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
How you go about your business, how you think about it,
how you communicate it.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
And so I think you're constantly putting your your I
guess your stamp on it, but you're constantly been there.
The growth of it all together is one. And so
I'm excited to be able to lead this football team
and do it.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
Do it, do it with a lot of bunch of
great other guys.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
You know, we have a lot of great leaders in
this locker room on the defensive side, offensive side, you know.
And that's that's the exciting part of our team right.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
There.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Tommy a little bit over the course of the spring,
obviously they cut and picked up on New England.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
How does that change the dynamic in the quarterback room.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
I wouldn't say changing the dynamic, but we just miss
Italian stallion, you know, being in their room. I think, uh,
you know, Tommy has done a tremendous job, you know
what he brought to the table every day at practice.
I think obviously on the field, you know, and you
always want your teammates to show out and do well
to get opportunities like he just got.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
You know, we were.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
Actually facetiming him, uh in between our meetings, like like
we're hoping that he wasn't gonna get picked up because
you know, we're like, come on, you know, but the
same time, we really wanted him to so it was
like because we wanted him be to our room hopefully,
but at the same time, obviously we're so excited. Obviously
played well against the Patriots, they got to see what
he was able to do. And I know he'll do
well there. You know, he's got a really good organization
(06:48):
over there and all that stuff. But just I think
his mentality, you know, will be right there and he'll
do a great job. And he's a brother to us,
and we'll definitely miss.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
In our rooms about this team and what they can expect,
you know from this team. Issue.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Yeah, I think the biggest thing we will bring is
tough nose football, physical offense, defense, special teams, a team
that believes in each other ultimately, and that's what really
all the matters is we believe in each other.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
And no matter how.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Much praise we get, how much you know, criticism people
try to say beforehand, or whatever it may be, it's
just we're in the midst of it right now, and
we have unbelievable belief in our locker room what we're
capable of, and now we've got to go do it
and just play one game at a time. You know,
it's it's a long season and a great way and
and uh, you know, these weeks will go by and
you'll realize that, hey.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
Let them add up.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
You just let them at up, let her, let them
mat up, and just let the moments add up and
let uh, you know, just don't look too far ahead.
Just you know, build one, you know, building block at
a time, and and that's what we're gonna do.
Speaker 4 (07:44):
Rus you know a little something about athlete and musician relationships.
Any thoughts on Travis and Taylor's announcement.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Yeah, it's exciting for them, man, obviously, you know, uh,
they believer in love, So excited for them.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
A lot of your teammates have talked and coach as well,
have talked about how.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
Intent you are with your leadership with your work.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
Have you always been like that or was there a
time where you realize, you know, what this is kind
of what I want to do and how I want
to get my message out to everybody.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
I think I've always been like that. You know. Part
of it is I think my parents raised me the
right way to.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Understand that, Like, man, these moments while playing Pro baseball, college, baseball, football.
It's just kind of always been laser focused. I think
a lot of it was just how my parents raised me.
Had to be kind of kind of become grown, you know,
when you're fourteen fifteen years old, when.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
Your parents are both working and you're busy, and you.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Just got to kind of individualize you kind of your
mindset and your planning. You've got to be a self
starter at a young age. I think to get to
you know, how far I've been ununfortunately good to get
is by the grace of God. And it's also a
lot of hard work, a lot of great people around.
And I think a lot of that is is being intentional.
With that being intentional with who you surround yourself with,
the thoughts that you have. You know, how you work,
(08:54):
how you prepare, you know, how you study. All that
stuff is intentional. And you know, I I think that's
having wavered off that intention now. And I think a
lot of it's just because I'm obsessed with football.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Man.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
I love football, I love practice, I love the great days.
It's it's also got to love the tough days too,
because you know it's building you up and printing you
to be better. Along the way. So that's the part
that you know, I've thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed throughout my career
and just be able to leave. These guys is a
bunch of great, unbelievable human beings that are great football
players too. So it's a joy every day to come
(09:27):
to work, to do it with coachtaball to do with
this organization, it really is. I mean, he's he's a
tremendous football coach. He challenges us, he holds us accountable,
but also to we, we really coming to work here
as a blessing every day. And so you know, I
don't even consider it working, man, It's just it to
do what we love to do.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
And to be a New York Giant is an honor.
Do you do you think that's an as for you
being a part of the team's Sorry one more time,
do I think? What do you think that being intentional
is an asset for you?
Speaker 3 (09:56):
You know, indegrading yourself quickly with this team, just how
you carry yourself that it's easy for you kind of
the apple it yourself.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
Yeah, I think it's just being who you are consistently.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
I think, you know, like I said, I I try
to you know, I think for me, I think it's
you know, you step on the football field, you try
to make the ten other guys better. You try to
facilitate the ball the right guy at the right time.
He also when it comes to the building, you know,
you enjoy, you know, the honor of doing what we
get to love to do, like I said, and the
intentionality of that, the intentionality of being having gratitude every day.
(10:28):
You know, Man, I get breath today like God jose
to give me breath the day I get to walk,
I get to throw, I get to do the gifts that.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
He gave me.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
And that's just kind of always been my mentality. And
hopefully that that surge of just gratitude and belief and
faith in it and doing what I love to do
and what we love to do, you know, is infiltrates
the room in a positive way, you know. And so
I think that that's that's how I look at this game,
(10:56):
and to be able to do it fourteen years in
as an honor and blessing for sure.
