Speaker 1 (00:00):
Have you, Tom, Have you since you know this offense
better than anybody of the other three quarterbacks we're all new,
have you found yourself at times taking a front and
center role to you know, do they ask you things
that you know they can ask stable when they are cosco,
but you know the quarterback they kind of like, yeah,
I know this, I've been here.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Yeah, for sure. I wouldn't say I'd take a front
and center role. You know. I let the coaches do
their thing. They have a process for everything and the
way that they're going about it. Especially this off season,
everything's kind of been a from the ground up kind
of thing, rebuilding, especially with three new quarterbacks in the room,
teaching them everything from the basics. So for myself, it's
been more on the field outside of the film room

(00:40):
and they come talk to me because it's different from
someone who's played in the offense before and been back there,
you know, not just behind a clicker if you will,
do disrespect any coaches, but it is different. So I
try to give my two.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
And any any example you could offer that, you know, research.
One of these guys said to you, like, what are
you seeing here? What am I supposed to be? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:01):
I mean, not not so much what you're looking at.
It's more of a feel for how things are cause
when things are wrong, you know, onlines. And obviously James
and Russ have played a ton of football, but it's
really about how it looks and fields on the field.
So it's really before they get to feel it for
themselves on the field, you know. It's kind of that feedback,
which has been very good.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
What's this off season been like for you? Just kind
of watching the kid room be built rebuilt around you
and and just kind of going through that process.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yeah, it's been cool. Obviously there's a lot of different
personalities because I'm sure you guys have all seen, but
it meshes together very well. Like I said, Russ and
James been around for a while, Russ has his deal ja.
I mean, everybody saw the handshake of me and Jamis yesterday,
right his hair and then doing this thing like he's, uh,
he's a bottle of energy if you will. And then
Jack's you know, it just came in. He's he's a

(01:47):
swaggy do too. So to have everybody in the room,
everybody's very competitive, and you know, it brings out the
best in us, and you know, I'm looking forward to
see where it goes. So Jackson's a swag you do, Like,
what's what's kind of that attitude life for him working
coming in? Like what do you see from him? With that?
You have to have that. I mean for any quarterback,
I think you have to have that confidence, especially here

(02:09):
in this market with how New York and the fans
and everybody is around it. You have to have that
kind of confidence because the many you go on Twitter,
if I'm gonna read some you know, everything can go downhill.
So for him to have that coming in, you know,
you want to keep him hot with that confidence no
matter if he makes a mistake, he's gonna make mistakes.
I made a ton of mistakes or everybody else and
you make mistakes, you're right there, pin' like you're gid Bro.
We'll go on to the next month. So for him

(02:30):
to have that at this point and continue to have
that during training camp, pre season, when the season comes,
it's gonna be huge.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
From how is the room, I mean, it's it's you
got some personalities in there. Is it fun? Is it interesting?
Is it weird?

Speaker 2 (02:44):
How is it it's very fun? I would say we
enjoy ourselves in there. You know, it's definitely work comes first,
as it always does, but it's definitely fun. We know,
we go out, we get dinner all the time, we
do different things outside of the facility. But I think,
like I said, everything meshes very well with you know,
I don't wanna say they're older, but Jamis and Russ
being a little bit older and me and Jackson being
on the younger side. You know, it's a fun bleunt.

(03:06):
You know, they have wives, families, that whole dam Me
and jacks don't you know it's been a halt. Me
and Jackson might go on Love Island. We've talked about it.
So you really don't know what's about to happen.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
What's your approach to, uh, the competition and you know
the reps that you're heading.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Yeah, I mean control and I can control nobody in
our quarterback room. No players can control that. Obviously we
can without play, but you know, the coaches make decisions.
When your number is called, you go out and make
most of it. Kind of the same deal it's happened
since I've been here. You know, stay down, keep working,
grinding until my time is to go. And then when
that time comes, I do my thing, but until then control,

(03:44):
I control, be the best teammate and help everybody them. Ok,
here's watching love together. We have we have I can't
say we do it every night, but from time to
time when we get it off there, Yeah, we watch it.
We talk about it.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Good.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
You do you still see a future for yourself here?

Speaker 2 (04:02):
But sure? I mean the plan has always been to
be here, especially when I was a rookie, So trying
to continue that for as long as possible, and then
you know, we'll see what goes from there. But right
now I'm focused on the present where I am and
be where my feed are. So right now I'm about
to go Enjoyan's break and then come back for training camp
and then we'll go from there.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
You Jackson over your house?

Speaker 2 (04:24):
No, not yet. I've taken him to a ton of
Italian restaurants, though we went on a lot of we
went on to kick a lot of restaurants. It's kind
of been a thing. We need to make a list
at this point. But no, not to the house yet,
but he will be.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
What does you think that.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
He knows that he say that, But Soda is Jamie
and SODA's rust. Listen no, no, not yet, not yet.
That comes something at some point. But Russe and Jamis
been around for a while too. Okay, they're they're well off,
so they can't. They take care of most of them, honestly.
But yeah, know he's he's loved it. I know he's
been in New York before Jackson. He's probably had a

(05:00):
ton of good food. But there's there's nothing quite like
the New Jersey, New York food market. I don't know.
I might be biased, but I think it's the best
in the world.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Tommy is is for you just mentioned Russ specifically, and
then obviously James two. You've watched for years in this league.
But to now be in this room with guys you've
played with the last couple of years. But now it's no,
it's it's Russ Wilson. Like when you were in high school,
you watch this guy, you know, and imagine over here,
you know, win the Super Bowl, you paying attention. What

(05:29):
what is that like having him come here? I mean,
everybody's talking about his presence at what he means. But
for somebody who sees it, you play the same position,
but there's gotta be a little awe of respect. What
do you what do you think about that release?

Speaker 2 (05:44):
For sure, I still tell him kind of mad at
him that whole Super Bowl deal. The roads were closed
around here, everything was so packed when everything was going on.
But honestly, Russ is a really genuine dude. We kind
of ties back to when I was transferring out of
Syracuse going to Illinois and my time with Brett Bielima,
who also took Russell as a transfer from NC State

(06:05):
or where Russell was the first over of college transfer.
So I was really sold on Russ back then from
my head coach. Coach b really sold me on him
in that whole process and how that went. So I've
always been a fan since I was younger, and just
to see him operate on a day to day Like
everybody says, everybody's a professional, right, everybody's a real pro.
But like if I had to put a person to
its Russ, like the way he just handles his everyday business,

(06:26):
not on the field, off the field, like the way
he talks to you with intent, Like it's just it's
at a different level than I've seen before. And I'm
really appreciative to be around him for the past couple
of months and be able to learn that, because for me,
it's taking in as much as I can, so trying
to take a little bit, day by day, more than
I'm around him.
