Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, Cam, what's going on?
Speaker 2 (00:01):
Hey, how's it going on?
Speaker 3 (00:02):
Good?
Speaker 1 (00:03):
Uh, I'll keep it easy. What did it feel like
last night? What were the emotions. I'm sure there were
times walking into the building last night where they were
a little hard to keep into, you know, keeping hold.
What What was that like for you to finally get
out there.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
I mean, it's awesome. I got to play football again,
and you know, that was what I was excited for.
And I got to be out there with the guys
and you know, have the high energy that they got,
and it felt great to be out there and finally
get back to it.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
I know you guys probably had a plan, you know
when you went off the second time a couple of
weeks ago. But through that whole process, did you ever
lose sight of the fact that, you know, what I'm
gonna get in the preseason games or what was your
mindset as you were trying to rehab and get back
on the field.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Yeah, I mean the mindset the whole way through was
get healthy. That was the main thing. If it took
me six weeks, and it took me six weeks, you know,
and every day is better. I'm getting better every day,
so you know, I was able to get some snaps
in the game on yesterday, and uh, you know, I
felt great. So I'm just going to keep working on
becoming more healthy and keeping my routine right.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
Thanks man, appreciate it, of course. Evan Barnes, Hey, Cam good,
how are you good?
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Good?
Speaker 3 (01:23):
H just for you. How tough was it to kind of,
you know, take your time managing this rehab. I think
the last time we saw you before, you know, Tuesday,
was like Auust first. How tough was it to kind
of manage this rehab just when you were starting to
get going a little bit and train camp.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Yeah, you know, I had a couple of few good
days and then you know, I had an issue with
an injury. And I mean, football's football. It happens. The
main thing is you have to keep a positive mindset
and make sure that you're not letting it. You know,
dwell on your daily life, and you know, I continue
to just come in here every day and try to
get better and make sure that thing is as healthy
(01:58):
as possible. And you know, it got better every day,
and I felt it, and you know, going into the game,
I was confident. My trainers and everybody made sure that
I was confident in it, and they did a great
job of helping me get back. So every day I'm
gonna keep working at it, and you know, I'm gonna
continue to play football.
Speaker 5 (02:17):
And how did it feel on.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
That first carry?
Speaker 3 (02:18):
I know that that first carry, I think I think
maybe stumbled a little bit. That the guys need to
live in the living for that afterwards or anything.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Yeah, yeah, of course, you know everyone everyone you know,
you fall in your you fall in your own faith.
Everybody gives you a little crap for it. But you know,
the guys, the guys understand what we have as a team,
and you know we continue to push every day and
they know that nine times out of ten I make
that play, really ten times out of ten. But you
know I first first carry in the league and just
getting my feet underneath me, and you know that one
(02:47):
I got caught up. So it was a great, great experience,
and you know, I can't wait for more.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
Thanks, Thank you, Brian Dunlevy.
Speaker 5 (03:04):
You hear me, Yes, okay, Uh what happened you have?
It seemed like you came back for one day and
then like maybe had like a setback. Did you rush
yourself back? Was that a rookie trying to get on
the field, rush yourself back or what happened there where
you came back for like half a practice.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
You know, I thought I was feeling a little better,
and then you know, something casually popped up, and you know,
I realized I wasn't ready yet. So you know, we
got back into the building and we started working it again,
and you know, time tells, and uh, you know, I
love the game of football, so I'm gonna do everything
I can to be on the field, and I started
noticing that it wasn't time to go out there yet.
(03:44):
So you know, my trainers have a great, great plan
for me, and you know, we we set up to
be in the right position to you know, be able
to play football on yesterday's game. So you know, it's
it's from here on out, it's you know, feet on
the ground.
Speaker 5 (03:59):
Did you have any hamstring issues in college?
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Never? Never? Once?
Speaker 5 (04:04):
Wow, So this is a brand.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
New thing for you, yes, sir?
Speaker 5 (04:07):
Okay, what did you think of the way Jackson dealt
this whole preseason, not just last night but all three games?
What'd you think of your rookie mate there?
Speaker 4 (04:16):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (04:16):
He did great, you know, and we've that whole quarterback
room was awesome this whole preseason. You know, I think
we've had the highest quarterback rating out of any team
in the league for all all four of those guys. So,
you know, Jackson played his butt off and you know,
impressed a lot of people, and so did the other
three guys that were playing. So I'm excited to see,
you know, the future for everybody in that room and
(04:39):
you know, see what happens. But you know, I'm excited
for him and I'm excited for the rest of the
guys as well.
Speaker 5 (04:45):
The present is obviously what's important. But like every Giants
fan I know looked at a back, looked at Jackson
starting the game last night with you behind him, and said, like,
that's what I want the future to look like. Did
you guys even allow yourself to a thing for a minute, like, Hey,
this could be like years to come, this could be
what it looks like.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Yeah, you know, we have our conversations, and you know,
I've talked to Russ, I've talked to Jamis, I've talked
to Veto and also Jackson. You know, it doesn't matter
who's back there, because there's gonna be times where Jackson's
back there with Tracy, and I'm back there with Russ
and you know Jamis is back there with Motor. There's
gonna be times where it's gonna be different, you know,
(05:25):
and you know, we have to understand that it takes
all of us to become great, and no matter what
day it is or what hour it is of the day,
we got to understand that no matter who's back there,
we got to make sure we're pushing. And you can't
get caught in the the UH scrutiny, and you got
to live in the present. You know, whatever's happening right
now is what's happening. Obviously there's talks, you know, as friends,
(05:47):
but you know, we we try to focus on the
on the president at the moment.
Speaker 5 (05:51):
And then last one for you, there was one another
guy in the backfield on that first play, UH, defensive tackle.
Who's blocking for you? What is that like, Cam when
you see Elijah back back there to have that full
back to have a defensive tackle mindset in front of
you as a fullback, what have you seen out of
him in that in that role?
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Yeah, he's been great. You know, you get two hundred
and eighty five and ninety pounds guy go home full
speed at a linebacker. I mean, we know who's gonna
win that most of the time, but just getting Chat
riled up before the game started. You know, we knew
what the first play was going to be, and we
knew Chat was going to hit somebody and I was
gonna get the ball, so you know, we told him.
I told him like, let's go, let's take somebody's head off,
(06:34):
you know.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
And we we.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Understood that the goal was to get yards and go
for vertical and be physical, and we did that.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
You know, I.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Failed to accomplish the mission of staying on my own feet,
but you know, next time that happens, it'll be a
different story. All right, Thanks Cam, thank you.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
We'll tak two more. Evan Barnes, Yeah, I'm just good.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
Since you brought up motor and we know that Dante
Miller's Turbo have had the runner back.
Speaker 5 (07:02):
Coaches given you a nickname.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Yet I'm Scat. I've always been Scat since the day
I got into college, and that's just something that they
call me. You know, people around the building. I'm Cam
to a lot of people, you know, my coaches and
everybody called me Scatt. So Scat's been the thing, you know,
since I got here, So.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
I had said to make sure, and I know some
people call Scat, but I was sure that was actually
the nickname they gave you in there.
Speaker 5 (07:24):
So just curious.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Yep, Scatt's been the nickname since my freshman year of college,
so I'm gonna stick with that one.
Speaker 4 (07:31):
Awesome thanks last one, Art Sapleton, Hey, Cam, we're down
there in the hallway when you and Jackson came in,
you know, last night before the game, and I was
just curious for you.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
I mean, obviously you've been dying to get out there
the last couple of weeks, and you've seen from afar
you and Jackson have gotten pretty close from what I understand,
when you watch the way he's handled himself the last
couple of weeks, what do you take from that as
a friend, as a teammate, and maybe as somebody who
hopes to be in that spotlight. You certainly were in
that spotlight when you were in college. Uh, just curious
(08:07):
your impressions as to how he's handled the last couple
of weeks when it seems like his profile has continued
to grow.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Yeah, I mean, just every day I come into the building,
you know, and I talk to him every morning. We're
right next to each other lockermates, and you know, I
continue to you know, push him, just like he continues
to push me, you know. And he'll make a play
in practice, and you know, I'll tell him good job,
but then I'll tell him bad job for the one
you know he messed up on. So we keep it
real with each other, you know, and just seeing the
(08:34):
professional professionalness he has. You know, I call him at
maybe seven thirty eight o'clock a night sometimes, and you know,
I'm expecting to pick up on the phone, like, Hey,
what up, Scott, what are you doing? You know, And
I get a hang up, and I get a text
back saying, hey, I'm in I'm in the office right now.
I'm studying, you know, And just certain things like that man,
and you start to see him really care and you
(08:58):
you understand how much he cares about the game. And
then he you know, he answers the phone and he's
with Jamis eating dinner and they're talking about football, you know,
and uh, just just the amount of the amount of
love he has for the game and that he cares
for it, you know, you see it in you see
it in his eyes when he's on the field. You
see when he got out of the game, he was
a little upset. He doesn't like being out of the game.
(09:19):
He likes to play. So you know, he just loves
the game and he loves his teammates. He loves football,
and he wants he wants to be successful as much
as any of us, any of any else on anybody
else on the field. So you know he's going to
continue to be that way and be who he wants
to be. But you know just how professional he is.
(09:40):
He's he's handling it well.
