We've talked to a few other guys on defense and
they won't mentioned it now about how you guys may
be dealing with some of the hype around this front
seven being so good, and a lot of the attitude
has been you haven't really done anything yet. So I'm
just kind of curious who kind of brought that attitude
among the defense to kind of remind themselves, hey, there's
work to do.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
The hype doesn't mean anything yet.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Oh everybody.

Speaker 4 (00:20):
I think that's been the mentality since the beginning of the campus.
You know, we gotta earn it. You know, we can
have all the things we want on paper, but you know,
if we don't go out there and do it, it doesn't
mean anything.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
So everybody's got that mindset yet, you know, we gotta
work for it.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
And then I guess for you as a second year guy,
it's not a fat yet. But just how do you
approach kind of the preseason now with a year under
your belt.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
A little bit?

Speaker 4 (00:41):
Oh man, I just approach it just getting better every day,
you know, just stacking days and making sure my body
in my mind's right to you know, go seventeen games
and you know, play play through a whole NFL season,
So every single day is just a step towards that.

Yep, how you doing man?

Good man, I'm curious from your vantage point.

Speaker 5 (01:11):
I'm not asking you who's winning the competition, that's not
up for you to decide, but what do you see
at that corner spot between Cordele and Deontay Banks And
because obviously that's going to be a big part of
what you guys are in the secondary, what do you
see from those two guys?

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Yeah, both of those guys have been doing a real
great job for us. Man.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
I think they both bring different skill sets for us.
So you know, I'm excited to, you know, see both
of them do great this season.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Man. So yeah, definitely definitely both of them doing great.

Speaker 5 (01:38):
Can you feel that, like when there's a competition a battle,
can you feel that on the field?

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Does that like raise the intensity for everybody?

Speaker 3 (01:44):
Man, every position of competition. That's what camp's for.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
So, uh, that's you feel that with everybody, not just
a corner position or guys that you know are fighting
for a spot, and you know it's every position.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
So everybody got bringed every day.

Speaker 5 (01:56):
And then Tyler, let me ask you what Evan just
asked you about the Front seven and all the hype
around those guys, but like it almost feels forgotten. I
wonder if it bothers you guys at all or motivates
you guys at all, Like the secondary has a chance
to be pretty damn good too, Like you're a high pick.
Banks was a first round pick, Holland got a bag,

a devo got a bag. Like the secondary could be
pretty damn good too. I'm wondering if you guys are
enjoying living in the Front seven shadow a little bit publicly,
or if that's motivating you at all, Like, hey, we
could be good too.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Yeah, we're cool. Man, we know what we got, so
you know we don't We don't need too many people
talking about this.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
What what do you got?

Like?

What could this secondary be?

Oh?

Man, I see a bunch of guys that are hungry
and guys that want it. So whatever you think that's
going to turn into?

How do you you know you came out of college
as a as a guy who was always around the
ball and got the ball right.

Twelve thirteen career interceptions? How many were there?

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Do you know?

Speaker 4 (03:06):
Thirteen thirteen, don't show me, don't show me one twelve
or thirty?

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Yeah, okay, right, I knew.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
I figured you know exactly how many they were? How
many do you have any NFL? I'm sure you know that.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Too, right, Yeah? You know?

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (03:19):
I mean what is what is the the the leap
that a young player from year one, a year or
two has to make to be that guy who they
looked at and said, man, this guy is always around
the ball and he takes the ball away doing that.

Speaker 4 (03:34):
Now it was being detailed and you know, being in
an attack mindset, you know, that's been my uh really
one of my goals all year, and you know, just
just doing my job really one, and that's that's what
I'm focusing on every single day.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
So I know it's gonna come. I'm not really worried
about it.

Speaker 6 (03:50):
Do you are you the kind of guy did you
look at every snap from your rookie year?

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Did you study it in the off season?

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Of course?

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (03:56):
And did you see opportunities where you looked at specific
lee and said I could have got that.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
You know I could have been in better position if
only for this or that.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
I mean, I believe in myself more than anybody else. Ever,
can I feel like that every game, whether I have
zero picks or two or three, there's gonna be something
I look at like, Man, I could have had another one.
So that's just football. That's just a game. I don't
dwell too much on it. You know, I don't count
how many picks I had the year before, because you know,
you gotta do it again next year. Whether I had
twenty picks last year, you would be still telling me, Hey,

(04:28):
how are you gonna get twenty picks again this year?
You know what I mean? So every year is a
new year. So I'm not really I'm not worried about that. Man,
I'm worried about what I'm doing today.

Speaker 6 (04:36):
But there are players who just don't have that on
their resume, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
They're good players, but they don't have the number that
we had.

Speaker 6 (04:42):
Right So when you look at that, what is the
skill set do you feel you have that will produce
those those turnovers?

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Instincts?

Speaker 5 (04:52):
Man?

Speaker 4 (04:52):
And you know, just being in the right place at
the right time, That's what I try to do now
being in the right place, so I have an opportunity
to you know, read the quarter of back and you know,
make breaks on the ball.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
So yeah, that's that's what I'm folksing on.

Speaker 6 (05:05):
And almost every defensive back, when you ask them about
their hands, they always say, oh, they're good, they're good,
they're this, they're that, you know, and then other people
when they drop them, they say, well, that's why he's
not a wide receiver. So tell me about your hands.
How confident are you with your ability? If the bulls
in the air, you're going to be the one to
come down.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Very confident, very confident.

Speaker 6 (05:26):
You've you've shown that you think in practice and drills
and all those other things.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Yeah, for sure, I saw them my whole career. Very good. Thanks,
thank you. Yep.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Last one, Brian tell maybe.

Speaker 5 (05:39):
I just wanted to follow up Tyler on what uh
Holland and a Diba have brought on the field. I
forget leadership, Like we talked so much about leadership, the
kind of players they are. What have they brought to
this secondary on the field in practice? Now that you're
out there every day for ten straight.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
Days, experience, man, they're always talking, you know, both those
guys have played a lot of ball, you know, been
in a lot of big games, seen a lot of situations,
So they're always talking about, you know, the game within
the game, you know, the situations that we in, uh
down in the distance, you know personnel, what type of
you know, plays we could get on this play depending
on you know, the area of the field that we in.

Uh.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
Things like that that that help you within the play,
before the play to know how you're gonna get attacked,
how the offense is going to attack you.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Both of those guys are

Really great at that talking uh, you know Javan especially,
you know, you know, helping other guys know the situation.
