Speaker 1 (00:00):
Keep you guys as an offense, haven't drown it up
any better than.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
It went in the preseason?
Speaker 3 (00:05):
Points?
Speaker 4 (00:06):
Probably not, honestly, Yeah, went it went as bad as
well as he could.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Go, especially with you haven't grown up with one quarterback here, But.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
To see what a rookie quarterback came in and did in
the preseason?
Speaker 2 (00:17):
What do you think of Jackson? Yeah, he did a
great job.
Speaker 4 (00:20):
You know, he learned fast, came out fast, played well fast,
operated well in every game he played in. Stayed away
from mistakes pretty much altogether. Yeah, stayed away from any mistakes.
So you know, he played not as clean as you
can play it.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
He played for a team and they draft a quarterback
like that and draft him early. I mean, do you
go back and watch any film yourself with Jackson to
see what you could potentially be working with? You wait
until you see him here on the field, Like what's
your processing? And now that camp everything's over? I mean,
did your thought change of him at all when.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
He gets this point? No, I didn't go back and
watch anything of him.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
I mean I kind of I watched Gollage football, so
I had seen you know a couple of miss games
or seen him play here and there, But no, I
tried for the most part, I try to just base
my first.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Opinion off of what I see, you know, we get.
Speaker 5 (01:09):
Out here, because ultimately, like he's okay, Well, I feel like,
you know, college is college is different than the NFL,
so you know, I try to try to wait and
say my first opinions for you know, when they first
get out here.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
But he's definitely been impressed him so far.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
What was your first I feel like at first, you know,
it's kind of impossible to show up day one and
know everything, so it's kind of like, you know, you
look for like flashes, you know. I think he made
some throws pretty early on where it was like all right,
like just gotta just gotta go. Wow, he has an
arm on him, so, you know, I think that was
that was kind of the first scene that last week.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
You've talked camidly before about how hard his offense is
to learn or how hard it is to like grasp
fully gleaning.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Yeah, Malie favors in his second year.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Have you seen that growth from him and people if
he was only operating knowing some of the offense and
what could it be now in year two?
Speaker 4 (02:05):
Yeah, I mean I think he's definitely done a good
job of learning. But I mean I think he's grown,
probably mostly in ways that are outside the game, you know,
Like I think he's grown a lot on his routine
and you know, his habits, you know, trying to lead,
you know, when he came, and I think he's grown
a lot in those areas, which are which are some
of the most important ones.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
Darius, You've talked all along from the beginning, but when
Russ we're getting here and you know, the deep ball,
We've asked you time and again the idea of what
it means. I'm just curious for someone now you've spent
a lot of time with him off the field, on
the field, is there anything you can learned that maybe
you didn't know and.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
What you wanted to know about him going into the season.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
He says that maybe you didn't. You know, you saw
a lot of things. You knew him from Afar obviously,
but is there anything that you've learned over the last
couple of months and now going into the season You're like,
you know what, I didn't know that about him, but
that matters to me.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
Yeah, Yeah, I think he's disgustingly consistent he's so consistent,
like it's it's almost nasty. It's like how it is possible.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
But I think that's probably the number one thing.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
You know, you see somebody from Afar and you know,
I feel like he's always had this persona being a
positive person.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
But you know, I feel like there's a lot.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
Of people that just have a good day on camera
and that's kind of the procession we all walk away
from them with. But you know, at some point every
day at seven am, somebody's smiling and tell you good morning.
It's like you're just wired this way, so you know,
And I think that carries over to the way he
plays football and why he's so consistent with his throat
and it's actually any thing like that.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
I think that's just his life. He's just a consistent being.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
Can you describe what it's like to see and catch
a boon ball.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Like compared to other people?
Speaker 4 (03:47):
Yeah, I mean, I'd probably say it's it's like catching
a beach ball. You know, it feels like you can't
miss because it's wherever you're running. It feels like the
ball just it doesn't feel like you're running to the ball,
feels like the ball is flying to you that makes sense?
Would you just run it kind of right there? So
it's pretty nice.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Tell you obviously a lot of experience with Tommy. Just
can you mention what it's been like playing with him
and is and what he means to you in the stateroom.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Yeah, it's been awesome.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
You know. I kind of feel like I've been like
in a cameo of like the Sopranos or you know,
something like that. You know, but it's been awesome. You know,
I have him around, be able to see a local kid,
a local Jersey kid, Uh, the community rally around him
and him be able to have the success that he's
had here. And it's been awesome just to written to
somebody in real time, get that type of opportunity, you
know where they're from.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
Guys have said back to Russell, just the idea that
that Jalen talked about him. It's a text from us
every day about motivation and that kind of thing.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
You know, a couple other.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Guys, anything between you, guys that you can share that
you know he's taken to you, that that's kind of
your thing. As far as you know, getting ready to
go for the season.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
Yeah, I wouldn't nothing in specifically can you think of
But it's always just encouragement.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
It's always encouragement.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
And I feel like, you know, he has little buzzes
for whoever he's talking to, you know, so something he
might say to me would probably be different than Jay,
different than Malik one day or whatever have you. But
it's always something again, like I said, like just a
very positive person. So something you know, encouraging, something to
kind of jump start your.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Day or or maybe to pick you up if you've
had a bad day. You've got a chance to see
the secondary with Adivo on Holland. What if they brought
to the secondary and you're one of guests them. Now,
have you seen a different level of intensity?
Speaker 4 (05:24):
Yeah, I think I think Holland's brought great range. You know,
he gets sidelined, the sideline gets down, he tackles. I
feel like he's kind of everything you would want in
a safety type of deal. And the debos, you know,
kind of your a little bit of your modern you know,
press manament corner. I feel like a little bit bigger
guy does well at the line. You know.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
So I think the addition of both of them would
be good for our secondary.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
And I know you've talked about it before, but you
personally individually, Yeah, we've seen seen you here from the
beginning and what it represents. I would imagine this is
a different chapter now.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
You know, you're signed off the off season, You're here,
this is your home. Yeah, what are your goals right now?
Speaker 3 (06:00):
I mean, you are you feeling any differently doing this
season as opposed to the last couple of years where
you know there has been a little bit of uncertainty
shut off its form?
Speaker 4 (06:09):
The answer, yeah, I think right now, going to one
is to try to build off this offensive momentum.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
You know, hopefully if we can, we.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
Can build all this on sub miniment score like we
scored in the preseason. You know, I think we all
know like what our defensive front is gonna be able
to do if we can get ahead in games and
something like that, you know, is motivating. But I also
feel like, you know, we're very capable. You know, we
have a very good receiver room, We have four good quarterbacks.
Offensive line is playing the best of they play since
I've been here, both in the running and the pass.
(06:36):
So you know, I think that you know, it's kind
of it's at that point now where we have to
go and do it. You know, I think we've we've
got the tools, we've got the pieces, and it's it's
so far been pretty good, you know, as far as
just the preseason goes.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
But it's time to roll that into radio season. Are
you a guy?
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Yeah, we've seen you all along yet It's almost like,
do you get to a point where you don't want
to talk about all the things that are going well
because you've been there, when just when you say things
are going well for sure, if you picked yourself, do
you say, all right, let's not get too excited, let's
let's get out there and roll it out, be one
and see what happens.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
Yeah, I mean, I think it's important to roll off
the positivity, you know, to use that positivity, but also
at the same time understand that you know, real football
is coming, you know, the regular season's coming, and still preparing,
preparing like it did all go back, you know, I
think is the idea is using the positivity as fuel,
but preparing as if it went terribly and that we
got to get it together and we got to start fast.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
So that's mentality I'll take
