Pull on your coziest sweater and rake up those autumn vibes - it’s time for another Girls Gone Hallmark review! Today we’re looking back at 2019’s Love, Fall and Order, where Erin Cahill stars as Claire, returning home to help save her dad’s annual Fall Fest on the family pumpkin farm. Standing in her way? None other than her old rival, played by Trevor Donovan, who’s on the opposite side of the legal fence. With sparks flying faster than leaves in a fall breeze, this one delivers both harvest charm and a touch of legal drama because in love, as in law, someone’s bound to make their case.

Speaker 1 (00:02):
This is a Bramble Jam podcast. Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark,

(00:24):

Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater. For
those of you who don't know why Wendy's laughing, stay
tuned for her first impression, because it's it's gonna be
a good one. Apparently. I don't think it's gonna be
that good. In my mind, I'm like funny as hell.
I don't. I don't think that's that's gonna translate, but
we'll see. On today's episode, we continue our Fall into

(01:53):
What were you trying to find? I found it? Okay,
it's gonna go with my first impression. Well, let's start
with a synopsis. When Claire goes home to save her
dad's annual fall fest on her family's pumpkin farm, sparks
fly with an old rival. The posing lawyer she now
faces in court is the what you found Pong Pong No.

(02:17):
But that's hilarious. Though, that's hilarious. This movie was directed
by Claire Nederprum. Claire currently has twenty one directing credits,
including The Royal Wee Villa, Amorey and Mystery Island House Rules.
She also directed the highly anticipated A grand Ole Opry Christmas.
Audrey Schulman wrote the screenplay Love Fall and Order, was

(02:38):
her first homework project. She went on to write, as
Luck would have It, The twenty Seven Hour Day and
A Merry Scottish Christmas. Aaron K. Hill plays Claire. Aaron
has an impressive one hundred and thirty eight acting credits
and recently appeared in Journey to You as well as
the twenty twenty four mini series Holidays We Love Sheriff Nora.
She will star in the upcoming Christmas at the cat

(03:00):
Hip Cafe as well as make an appearance in A
grand Ole Aubry Christmas. Former Hallmark regular Trevor Donovan plays Patrick.
Trevor's last Hallmark movie was Nantucket Noel in twenty twenty one.
He's recently been seen on an episode of Gray's Anatomy
and Win Hope Calls. Gregory Harrison plays Hank with his

(03:20):
one hundred and twenty one acting credits. Gregory was last
seen in Signs Sealed, Delivered to the Moon and Back
as Joe O'Toole. He's appeared in tons of Hallmark movies
like Sweet Carolina and the Nine Kittens of Christmas. Drew
Fuller plays Ben with thirty six acting credits. This appears
to be his only time he's appeared on Hallmark. Jan
Broberg plays Aunt Margie with fifty four acting credits. She's

(03:41):
also appeared in Check in the Christmas Back in twenty nineteen.
Friend of the show Jacqueline Collier and her then Bubbly
Sash podcast partner Shalinie Munjuth Holbrook also appear. This movie
did premiere on October twelfth, twenty nineteen. Let's take a
quick break and we're going to come right back with
our first impression. Hey, Wendy, what is your first impression

(04:13):
of Love Fall and Order? Okay, I hope this works.
I hope this works. Hold on. That means did you
go Gregory Harrison? Welcome back. I am real embarrassed, but

(04:34):
like a Stiller Fox, It's okay. I thought the same
thing he came on screen. I just said subtle ins
is it? My first impression is Bong Bong? Hey, now
the title makes sense. I didn't know it was about
a lawsuit. Thought they were going to be going to court.

(04:55):
I gotta tell you, did you know that? Based on
the title I kind of figured yes, but then always
trying to in my notes, like trying to write the
title of this movie, I'm like, what is it Fall,
Love and Order because to me lawn order Ellen. Oh
so it was still unreal mixed up there? Sure? Anyway, well, long,

(05:16):
I love it. What did you like about this movie? Overall?
Like this movie more than I thought I would too.
Do you know twenty nineteen can there could be some
hitting missus there. I did come into this movie with
a little bit of bias. I'm gonna talk about it
and my wishes. You're giving me this look like okay,

(05:40):
but I liked it. I know what your bias is
based on. I'm not new here, Okay, I liked it.
What about you? Look, I saw some chatter before we
reviewed this, people are like, this movie is not oh really,
And I was like, oh so, I came into it
thinking it was gonna be a slog. It was not
a slog. I agree. The Fall vibes were vibing. Oh my,
I got a absolutely agree. I mean, not all great,

(06:04):
but it was giving me, you know, the pumpkins and
the color, and it was giving fall. A lot of
these Fall movies are fall in name only but the
abundance of fall color, the strong leaf, peeping presence. Look,
autumn was in full swing here. Yeah. No, I wasn't
into it. I don't know if it's just because it's

(06:25):
that time of year right now. I was like, give
me all the false things, like it was doing something
aesthetically for me. Totally. Yeah. I watched this and yesterday
was like a cold quote in quotation. It rained, it rained,
it was dreary, it was cooler. It's been hot and
humid here, so it really worked for me. Yeah, I
loved Aaron K. Hill. Look, I think she's always a

(06:47):
delight And I don't know why, Like she was one
of those actors that we were just kind of like
cool on, I'm gonna say for a long time. I
also don't think we saw her in a lot. That
was the problem. I feel like we didn't see a
lot of her movies for a little bit of time.
I don't know, she just wasn't on my radar. And

(07:08):
I just love her. I know when I was driving
here today because this is the stuff I think about
on my car rides here. We've leans real hard into
like the wowie zowie of it all, like the Hallmark Hunks,
and there's not enough talk about the actresses on this
network totally, and I'm like, we need like a girl

(07:30):
Crush series. Let's do it, because eronk Hill. Okay, what's
the theme song for it? You know, let's do it?
Lead into wild Thing? Yeah No, I didn't Okay, taking
a turn. I didn't out see come in. But I

(07:52):
think we should celebrate some of the women because yes,
just lately, like we talked about it in our Countdown
Christmas preview and just like a fond over how much
I love Ashley Williams and how much I've been watching
her movies. Well, Aaron K. Hill's up there. I'm like, oh,
it's an Aaron K Hill movie. Yes, I'm gonna watch it.
So we need to alternate. Wowi's Awie Wednesday with Woman
Crush Wednesday. Okay, let's do it. I like it. I

(08:15):
like it. I'm laughing at my notes because one literally says, oh, hey,
Gregory Harrison day Laddie's home. God the man is like
in his late seventies. I think, Okay, well this was
six years ago. I found Claire's a Friendship with Betsy

(08:35):
very warm, very heartwarming. I liked her relationship with Betsy's kids.
Liked it was hard for her to realize that she
was missing out. She was like, you get to go
to their pageant. Yeah. I just that was sweet. I
liked that connection that found family of it all. I mean,
she has she's close to her dad, but I just
liked that that was driving her back to this town. Yeah.

(08:57):
One point, I was like, I wonder if Aeron k
Hill these children because they're so affectionate with each other,
very comfortable, very comfortable with each other. Yeah. I enjoyed
that too, And I also really liked you mentioned it.
I liked Claire's relationship with her dad. You know, she
kind of drops everything. She's very busy in this city.

(09:21):
That's a big lawyer, yep, but like drops everything and
comes out to help her dad. Yeah, you know, I'm
into that. I got a dad, I think I would
do the same thing totally. We mentioned Jaqueline Collier in
this movie. She and her Bubbly Sash co host Shaliny
are the leaf peeping guides in this movie. I laughed

(09:41):
out loud. I thought that was real cute. I got
issues with the whole leaf peeper of it all. But
why oh we'll talk about it, okay. But they were
real cute. I loved that cameo. That was a real that.
This was at the time where she was working with Hallmark,
so that was fun. She was real cute. I thought
they were silly and fun together. Can do you imagine
us being the leaf peeping guide? I mean, Homark call

(10:02):
us we would do this for I was watching this
the other day and Jack's scene was on it and
my daughter was walking by, and I posit TV. I
was like, do you know her? Because we were at
this summer your daughter was there, Jacqueline Collier was there,
My daughter was there. They met and I was like,
she's so nice. Huh Like I was just it's so

(10:24):
exciting to like see someone you actually you know, it
was very exciting for me. I feel like I have
a friend on TV totally. You know. Look, I loved
the trivia scene so much in this movie. Shut up,
I swear to god, I did Why you thought I
would hate it or you hated it? They don't do
it right, no, I know. I'm like, I don't know

(10:46):
who raises your hand? You don't That's not how you play.
You don't shout to get the answer. It's not a
game show. Everybody has a chance to answer. But yeah, yes,
I liked the element of trivia, the element of it. Yeah,
I liked it. And I thought it was real funny
how they were competing over for a bowl of chili
and then he gives it to her at the air.

(11:07):
That was pretty cute. When she opened the cart and
it was the coupon for the bowl of chili, I
was like, Oh, that was cute. I love like just
her friends, like they were just like funny, like in
the back drinking their beer, like just letting these two
like have at it. I thought it was real funny.
I also really love a good return to hometown setup,

(11:28):
especially when you have a family tradition like a fall
fest at steak. I know we've talked about this before,
especially when it comes to like the seasonal movies. How
I know, I personally long for like a festival like
that in my hometown. We just don't have that here,
and if we do, it's crowded with too many people.

(11:50):
I just would love that. I would just love someplace
where I can like get on a hay ride and
eat a caramel apple and you know everybody you know
is going to be there. Kids are just free to
run around safely, like nobody's scared of some stalker like
or whatever. Yeah, so this is why I think I

(12:10):
am such a Hallmark fan these days. You heard it
here first, folks. It's it's like those things, but like
it just makes me yearn for more I don't know,
and they make me feel a certain way. It makes
me want to move out of southern California and move
to a small town in Vermont or whatever. Sure, anyway,
like you said, it was perfect weather this weekend to

(12:33):
watch this movie. It is a comfort watch, curl up
with a blanket. There's no reinventing the wheel here with
this movie. This is classic Hallmark yep, and I loved it.
I liked it too. I'm shocked that people are like, oh,
that's it's not good. Yeah, how much freaking Harvest Moon
and I wanted to rage out over the main character

(12:53):
in that movie. I suspect some people's dislike of this
movie had to do with one of your wishes, So
why don't we get into it with I disagree, Okay,
I don't think people have so much disdain for the
actors who've migrated over to that other network. You don't
more than we do. I think some people do. But Okay,

(13:16):
really I think people are like, uh, if so and so,
I'm not gonna name drop here, but if so and
so and so and so decided to come back to
the homework, they would welcome them with open arms, and
I would put my foot down and say, we're not
reading those movies totally. So you came in with some
preconceived notions because, like we've discussed before, and he's was

(13:39):
outspoken about leaving Hallmark for certain reasons and went to
the competitor. Yeah, I'm just not into that. Like, I'm
just not into it. So I'm gonna tread lightly. Hair.
I thought the casting was really bad here. Yeah. I
actually thought they had some chemistry. But on paper, I
don't think these two seem like the kind who would

(14:02):
end up together. But I did think they had some chemistry.
I would I would agree with that there was some
chemistry there, But he he's very kind of one dimensional
Wooden to me. Yeah, I think this was one of
his better performances. Oh, really interesting. I just thought it
was okay. I thought he was okay. I just think

(14:23):
it was a full miscast though, Like he reads Ken
from Barbie sure me, and I just I don't know.
I don't know. I feel like he reads more of
the big city guy and she reads more of the
small town girl in that regard. Yeah, look, trivia night chaos.
They were all shouting out answers. That is not how
you play trivia. I would just like to stay to here.
I very much am a fan of things being done

(14:44):
the way they're supposed to be done, and that's not
how trivia is. If he planned to go to a
trivia night, don't expect that. Also, let's talk leaf peeping. Look,
I'm a big fan. We've done several fall foliage trips.
I love a leaf peeping moment. But you don't leaf
peep in the middle of town. You go out in
nature and leaf peep. You're not like, look at this
one tree that's growing out in the Town's where you
you go elsewhere to peep the leaks in the woods. Yes,

(15:08):
you go on a leaf peeping drive. Oh no, people
are walking through the center of town to peep the leaves.
Got it. I've never been leaf peeping. I think that
is the funniest name. It is a funny term, and
I think it made for a funny scene because we
wanted to get you know, Jackson shawt in the middle
of the town. They're kind of always like running into

(15:30):
these people, so it made for a humorous yeact. But
I agree, I do think the legal angle could have
been juicier here. It never really leans like hard one
way of like to make it believable that these two
are at odds as like, you know, representing their families
like they were like getting along the entire I mean

(15:53):
maybe at first they have like a little bit of tension,
which I was like, the good I know where this
is going. And then they're just like getting the law
I had some issues here, okay with my takes or
no what okay, this didn't need to be a lawsuit.
You discover a piece of paper that says, oh, the
property lions are drawn in correctly. Well, the first thing

(16:15):
you do is to go to your neighbor and go,
this is weird. What do you think about this? And
see what they say, because both of these people seem
to be very reasonable. Then maybe you go to the
county and say, hey, what do you think about this,
Let's investigate a little. You don't sue your neighbor for
the property lines. When this man hasn't intentionally defrauded you.
He didn't, he didn't and they didn't know that. But

(16:37):
he didn't do that. I don't understand. Like they skipped
all these steps and then went straight to you know,
aunt Margie, Sue and Gregory Harrison, what are we doing here?
And then Claire Sweet Claire. I really hated how when
Patrick comes to her and he's like, oh, I found
this paper in my aunt's house that disproves when she
gets mad and she's like, you kept digging. Yeah, it's

(17:00):
a court case. He's supposed to accept that your friend
came in did his surveying of the property lines and go, okay,
you're no, you're both collecting information. He did his job.
I agree, Yeah, And then that he felt compelled to
apologize to her for doing his job. I hope you
can forgive me. No, you didn't do anything wrong. That

(17:24):
I was unreasonable, she was unreasonable. That was that part
was the biggest part of the movie. I was like,
I'm I was rooting for you, yeah, but it was
that part. I was like, no, you're being super unreasonable,
hare like of course he's going to keep digging, Like
of course, he wasn't just gonna roll over and be like, oh,
unlike you. So I'm gonna drop everything. Well, and then

(17:46):
go to court and they're like, here's what we present,
and the judge is like, yeah, why are y'all here? Yeah?
What a waste of a judge's time. It's like, oh done, Yeah,
I agree with you. I don't understand, like these two
reasonable neighbors couldn't not have like had a discussion. And
Margie is like, Oh, my business is not doing great,

(18:06):
but it would do so much better if I could
grow my own flowers in this plot of land that
I maybe own. Why wouldn't you just say that? Yeah,
they just jumped to so many timeclusions. And then there
resolution is they're going to split the fall Fest fifty
to fifty. I don't know if you caught this at
the end, right, Yeah, And so she's going to be

(18:28):
allowed to have a booth at the fall Fest and
they're gonna split, and then she's going to be given
a mutually agreeable piece of land to grow flowers. Make
that make sense for me? Does this man still have
to do one hundred percent of the work to set
this thing up? I don't know, because I would not
want to do that if I was. Hopefully it's fifty
to fifty in work and profits, right, yeah, exactly. Anyway,

(18:49):
I'm thankful that these Margie and the dad didn't like
have a spinoff romance too, totally. Let's talk. Good to
see that I only have two stupid I have one
real stupid one. I mean, the faux pumpkins in this
movie were just I mean, the little girls when they're
so cute and they're at the pumpkin patch and they're
like pick out a pumpkin and they're like holding this

(19:11):
pumpkin that is clearly styrofoam. Fine. My second, did you
see that wardrobe heavy with the skinny jeans, ankle boots,
the T shirt that's like Apple's caramel, and I don't
wan to talk that honestly, probably would have worn it
six years ago, would have worn it. I also want
to just pause here. I know we got an email
from listener Paula Yes, who was asking about our wardrobe commentary.

(19:35):
I don't even remember what movie it was we talked
about it. It was the Oh, the Julie Gonzalo movie where
she's in the skinny jeans and the ankle boots and
the open cart. Again, we get the same thing in
this movie, and Paula's like, what, this is not a
style anymore? It is not I mean like, I mean,
it's presentable. It's a cute, put together outfit. Yes, you
can definitely get away with wearing it, but when you

(19:57):
see it it feels very dated too. Yeah, I would agree,
it's not the height of fashion, but we're still seeing
a lot of skinny jeans on Hallmark. I don't pay attention.
I don't know if we're seeing it on other networks,
but it is certainly more flattering than a wide leg jean.
So while a wide leg or a barrel or a
boyfriend jean is very cute, it could be less flattering

(20:17):
to a woman's shape, so that I would say, screw flattering.
That's not the point of wearing clothes. But right where
would you like, Paula? Is what I would say. I
saw that email and I laughed because I do kind
of miss that look because it was very easy to
put together. I feel like we should. I know you
have one, because magazine's a lot of outfits, s helfies
of her, this big road that she has in her house,
and I know you have a picture of yourself wearing

(20:38):
an outfit like that. I'm certain I can see a
picture of myself wearing it too, So I feel like
we should put that up on Instagram and have a
good laugh. My didency. That is in the opening credits,
there is a subtle but noticeable touch where the cast
members' names. None of the crew start out white and
then shift to yellow and then orange on the screen,

(21:00):
so they change colors like the leaves. That's real cute.
I didn't notice that at all. It's very cute. Even
the font was fall themed. Can I ask you a question? Yeah,
why does that suppose O bring his dog everywhere? I
don't know. The bother do a little bit, no what
he was like walking and then like he goes and
sees his aunt at the flower shop and she gets

(21:20):
a tree and like that's all cute and stuff. But
like when he shows up like at the fall Fest.
But the dog, no, that's not a place you bring
a really a non service animal. You don't think you?
I think people bring their dogs to the fall Fest.
I disagree. Okay, I would never bring my dog to
a fall fest. They would just jump all over everybody.
My dog's insane. I would not do it either, but

(21:41):
I think lots of people have well behaved dogs. We're
just traumatized. Okay, not either of us. But what did
you rate? I give it three point seventy five stars.
Oh my god, I gave it four stars. Also, I
just add here that I have had COVID for the

(22:02):
last six days and I watched this movie at the
height of my illness and had to watch it twice
because I fall asleep. So maybe I enjoyed it more
than I actually really liked it. I just want to
show you that one of the pictures I pulled up
is you listen with the with the blouse and the
heavily ripped boyfriend jeans. Yes, but hold on a second.

(22:25):
Let me I got one hold on the exact same
Outfitly show me arts this twenty nineteen. This is literally
twenty nineteen. We'll keep an eye on our Instagram for

(22:49):
a fashion throwback from Megan and Wendy. Thank you for
