Unknown (00:03):
Welcome to give it your
all, the podcast where we dive
deep into life's biggestchallenges and victories through
a biblical lens. I'm your host,Daryl Baptist junior, and I'm
excited today to go over thesecond second topic of not
giving up. Guys, don't give up.
The Lord. Put this on my spirit, because it's very easy to give
up during difficult times. Youknow, we face all kind of
(00:25):
situations, all kind of trials, things that seem or foreseen and
things that are not foreseen, and we, you know, we're human.
You know, things beat us down attimes, just it can get
difficult, just living, despitebeing filled with the Holy
(00:45):
Spirit, despite knowing who Godis, things can just get
challenging. However, I'm justhere to help potentially shift a
mindset or encourage or remindsomebody about what the Lord has
to say about it, then how we caneffectively apply that to our
lives. So, you know, we couldjust give it all we got in all
aspects of life. So we're goingto turn to the book of James,
(01:08):
chapter one, verses two throughfour, and I'll be reading from
the New American Standard Bible,of course. Alright, so Consider
it all joy, my brethren, whenyou encounter various trials,
knowing that the testing of yourfaith produces endurance, and
let endurance have its perfectresult, so that you may be
(01:28):
perfect and complete, lacking innothing. Amen. Amen. Amen. This
is one of my favorite verses. Itis so encouraging. It lets us
know that. It lets us know thatthere are various trials, there
are hard times coming. I knowthere's a prosperity gospel, a
(01:52):
feel a feel good gospel that'sbeing preached and being taught
out there and really beingembraced. You know, if you give
your life to Christ, once youtruly give your life to Christ,
and you pay, you be active andyou pay into the church, the
tithes and offerings are justgiving, however they call it, in
(02:14):
the prosperity style churchesthat everything will be okay.
You won't bad. Things won'thappen to you. You won't have to
suffer because God is so good.
God is so loving. He reallycares about you, and if you're
really, truly walking to him,you never have to worry about
any problems. Unfortunately,that's a lie. You know? That's a
(02:39):
lie. It sounds good. It's veryappealing, but when you open the
Scripture, just as we did, it'sclear that we're going to go
through some trials. We're goingto go through some tribulations.
But what I like about thepromise of the trials and
tribulations is that it comeswith something and with the
(03:03):
spiritual maturity. You know, this a little meaty. Now, this
is, this is not a milk subject, guys. So this is a little meaty.
So hopefully we can really chewon this. But what I personally
like about the promise of thetrials and tribulations, it
produces something, and we aretold to Consider it all joy
(03:26):
because of what it produces. Youknow, it's, it's hard to it's
really hard to digest that, youknow, because trials, they're
very trying, you know, wherethey could be a death, a loss,
the end of a career, or, like, you know, just financial
stability. You know a change insome a major change in health.
(03:48):
You know somebody's gettingdiagnosed with the sickness or
disease. You know somebody losesmobility in their body or loses
their mind, perhaps when youknow various forms of mental
Alzheimer's or whatever it lookslike, and we have to deal with
these things in the real world, and we are still expected to be
our best and to perform our bestand to live the lives God
(04:12):
intended us to live, however itgets difficult sometimes, but
The encouragement today is thatwe should shift our mindset and
Consider it all joy. You know, once we realize these things are
really weighing us down, youknow, of course, there's a time
for everything under the sun, according to Solomon, however,
(04:35):
we're not supposed to stayweighted down by things. Jesus
died for us to give our problemsto him, our situations to him.
So it's just important that Godacknowledges and declares that
there will be many things thatcome up in life that will test
you while you're walking on yourpath, because it says knowing
(04:56):
that the testing of your faithproduces endurance you. All
these trials that go on aretest, their tests for you to
pass. You know they're inthey're intentional. God knows
what. What will happen whenthese things happen to us. He
knows how it's going to affectus. However, if he ordained
(05:20):
this, and if he declared it tobe so, or allowed it to be so,
you best believe that there issomething on the other side of
it, because God is not a god isjust going to make you suffer
for the sake of suffering.
That's not the case. However, hewill allow you to suffer to
bring out what he needs fromyou, what he designed you, what
(05:42):
he purposed you for, so that, you know that's really have to
keep that in mind. You know, heuses those tests to produce a
resilience inside of you thatwill be able to sustain you
through that which God declared.
You know you we have no idea, you know, we pray for stuff all
(06:03):
the time. We pray for elevationin life. We pray for more
responsibilities or or moreresources to be responsible for,
you know, just different thingsin life we want to increase in
certain area. None of that isbad, and I believe God does want
a lot of that for us, however,it comes with a cost. It comes
with a mindset in order for youto sustain. Because he knows,
(06:26):
like, Hey, you just see oneaspect of this. I see the whole
thing you and your current stateis not ready. I want you to have
it. I'm not denying you of it.
However, I need you to be in acertain place as my child, as a
steward of my life that I'vegiven you a steward or not
necessarily his life, but thelife that he's given you, life
(06:47):
that He's given us the time, theresources again. We are his we
are supposed to have died toourselves and been born again
unto Him. We are now hisservants. We are now his slaves.
We are His children. We are Hispeople. He is our God, our King
and our Lord. So if he setsomething up for you, he wants
(07:09):
you to be able to manage it, andhe knows you better than you
know you, you might feel likeyou could be able to manage
whatever you're praying for, andthat's okay that you feel that
way. However, God not only knowsyou again, but he also knows
what it entails to maintain tobe responsible for these things,
because it might have nothing todo with the new job or on the
(07:32):
thing in itself. It might comefor what the enemy might throw
to attack you, to attack that,to discourage you, however, he
needs a resilience that'salready been built up inside of
you to be able to handle thingsof that nature. You know, so
pretty much is really no use offussing. You know, during these
(07:54):
trials, it's best to really justfight. You know it sounds it
sounds easy. I'm not making thisseem like it's easy. However, it
is a mindset that you can chooseto have. As far as you know,
when these situation arise, youalready have in the back of your
(08:15):
mind that, hey, I was told thisis going to happen. So, yes, it
affects you however. You canstill choose what you do after
you receive information, youstill have power over your mind
and power to do things. I'm notsaying it'll be easy. Sometimes
it might take every bit ofstrength you have, every bit of
(08:36):
will you have, every piece offaith that you have you know to
in order to do that. But it canbe done. Why? Because these are
tests, and if God, God's notgoing to give you something more
than what you can't handle, that's not our God. Our God is a
just God. It might not seem justin the moment, but he is a just
(09:01):
God. He he understands what wecan go through. He know what can
happen. He knows understandsthat this is going to the
situation or trial is going toreally stretch us thin and push
us and pull us to the point ofbreaking, to the point of
ripping, or to the point ofgiving up. But no, he wants us
to continue to fight the goodfight. He wants us to resist the
(09:21):
enemy. He wants us to stayobedient to Him. You know, going
back to the last episode, it'sall about being obedient. So
when we face these trials, wecan't give up. We have to
continue going knowing that,Hey, I am a Christian, I am a
believer, I am a follower. I ama child of God, and I know that
(09:43):
he looks out for me. I know thathe protects me from the scene
and unseen. I know he keeps meout of Satan's grip, out of
Satan's mouth, however or to bedevoured however it. If, if he's
allowing these things to happento me,
(10:04):
I need to understand that thisis for a reason. It might not be
a reason I even agree with. Itmight not be something I even
want. However, I have to changethe mindset of, Okay, God, what
do I want? And to God, what doyou want from me, we have to
always give it back to the Lordthat doesn't matter. It doesn't
(10:25):
matter, and God uses trials inorder to strip us of what we
don't need and help fortify whatwe do need, what we already have
that's inside of us, or what hewill give us to fortify that, to
build those new muscles, tostrengthen those muscles, to be
(10:45):
able to fight and withhold andwithstand. You know when, when
the next level comes. So, youknow, I just want to encourage
you with that. And again, thisthe resilience that it builds up
in you. You know, it doesn't, itdoesn't stop with that. Doesn't
stop with just the endurance inand of itself. It is a process,
(11:06):
too, you know, the resiliencethat's in you, that that's that
doesn't have, it doesn't endthere. It has a end goal, and
that is to be perfected andcomplete within Christ. And not
perfect is, you know, Jesus isperfect, God is perfect, but
perfect isn't mature like youYou're perfect is when the
(11:27):
apples growing the tree or thegrapes growing a vine, when
they're at their ripe, it's timeto be plucked and eaten like
when it comes to full maturity.
So that's what it means. So Godhas a plan for us to be fully
mature and complete and lackingin nothing as a child of God.
And again, that doesn't meannecessarily riches. But you
know, David said in Psalm 23 TheLord is my shepherd. I shall not
(11:50):
want. You know, we really notgoing to have need. For once,
we're not going to be lacking inanything. We might have desires.
And I feel like desires arehealthy, because God said, If
you seek first the kingdom ofGod, I will give you all the
desires of your heart. Sodesiring something is cool, but
the mindset and the shift has tobe focused on the Lord. It has
(12:13):
to be focused on his will foryou, not your will for yourself,
what you would like out of life?
No, you have to understand withhim, you are protected. With
him. You don't have any needs.
All your needs are already takencare of because he promised
that. So I just want toencourage you with that. But so
(12:33):
we said all that to say, whatlike? How do we do that? How do
we put that in action? ToConsider it all joy, to take on
this thing head first, to fightthe fight. Fight. What the Lord
really revealed to me is embracethe burden. You know, a lot of
us like to run from thesesituations or minimize the
(12:57):
situation, act like thesituation really isn't going on
when it's clear as day, you knowthat it is is right there.
However, he said, you know, inthat same song, you know, even
Yea, though I walk through theshadows, the valleys of the
shadow of death, I shall feelfear no evil. Embrace the walk
(13:18):
through the valley. Guys, youhave to embrace the walk. You
have to take it on, because Hisgoodness and mercy will follow
you. So it's yeah, you know youmight God is in front of you.
You ain't really see him. Hearound all the time, but he
wants you to walk through butHis goodness and mercy will
(13:40):
follow you wherever you go. Soin the good times when the
trials are not there, I shouldsay, you see and feel His
goodness and mercy, but it'sstill there during them dark
times as well, when you're goingthrough them, Valley lows versus
the mountain highs. So we haveto embrace the burden, embrace
(14:01):
it. Why? Because it you giveroom for God to have his glory.
God wants to show off. You know,I like to say, God, huh? You
know, whenever I go through atrial doubt, you know, it's just
it gets to a point, you know, relatively quickly, I'm like,
Alright, God, you must want somemore glory. You want you just
(14:23):
You must want some more praisefrom me. So I'm like, Here you
go. I surrender it right thenwhen I realize, okay, yeah, this
is, this is something real. Thisis something heavy. I know I
can't sit with that, guys. Ican't sit with the burden of
life, the burden of a trial.
It's like, yo, it's, there'snothing I can do. You know, I'm
(14:47):
not a fighter guys with a gun. Igave up, you know, once I gave
my life to Christ, I gave uptrying to fight for things, you
know, I just, I just accept whatthe Lord has. And. And trust
that it will work out in myfavor, and he hasn't failed me
yet. So I just give it to God.
I'm like, God, you must want meto thank you some more. I'm
(15:08):
like, hey, that's what you want.
I'm here for it. Like, becausewe were, we were created to give
him his glory. So hey, man, ifI'm not giving you enough glory,
and you sending this trial myway to to make me more mature
and complete. I bring it onbecause I want to give you your
glory. God. I want to serve you.
I want to serve you in a way youwant me to serve you, you know,
with the fullness that I have, with nothing extra. I don't want
(15:31):
nothing extra guys. I I want toget stripped. I wish I could be
straight. I don't want to sitguys. I don't want to sin. I
don't want to think about sinand falling to sin. That's just
what to live a life that is holyfor God, period. That's not the
reality, you know. But do stillsin. I still think about sinning
from time, you know, I don't, Idon't live in sin, you know,
(15:56):
thank God. But I still fallshort and, you know, I repent
and go back. But I really don'twant to. I really don't want to.
I rather just, you know, go to amonastery. It just, you know,
praise him all day. But I knowhe has work for me to do out
here. So I have to fight. I haveto endure. God, He calls us
(16:17):
sheep to go, to enter into thedens of wolves, seeking to be
devoured. In a sense, we're notseeking to be devoured more so
expecting to be devoured, Ishould say, not necessarily
seeking a little kind of crazy, but still understanding, yo,
this is a dark world we're in.
(16:40):
You know, he called us to be thelight of the world. So, you
know, we die to ourself, if, if,if he calls us to a place of
grief or even death, bestbelieve he's going to call us to
a place of a more abundanceafterwards. It doesn't matter.
It never ends with a bad. Badmight happen. Or, I'll argue bad
(17:03):
will happen. However, even afterthat bad, something better will
happen that will supersede thatbad. And that's the kind of God
I serve. He's a restorer. Oh, mygoodness, he's a restorer guy.
So that's it's okay when youlose things, when you're facing
things, he's going to give itall back to you, like within
(17:24):
abundance. He say, I came togive you life and life more
abundantly. And again, this isnot prosperity gospel preaching,
guys. I'm not talking about justextreme wealth. I'm talking
about the peace, the joy of theLord, just the tranquility you
will have, the rest that youwill have in the strength the
current, just the abundance, youknow, and you will have more
(17:45):
than you need. Best believewhere you live in in the
fullness of Christ, you willhave more than you need, despite
what's going on around you. Youmight not have everything you
want, but you will have morethan you need. And I can, Hey, I
hear somebody saying, Amen, andI've agreed. I'm agreeing with
you in spirit, but it also, italso allow, when you embrace the
(18:10):
burden, you allow God totransform your mind and seek His
wisdom, you know? And I got iton the note for verse five,
because he said, Yeah, righthere. But if any of you lacks
wisdom, let him ask of God, whogives to all generously and
without reproach, and it will begiven to him. This is like one
of the only things that God,just you know gives outside of
(18:35):
salvation and love, of course, but that you at least the stuff
that you really have to ask tosee, he said. But if any of you
lacks wisdom, let him acts ofGod. He who gives to all
generously, without reproach, and it will be given to him. So
when you seeking God's wisdomover a situation, I promise he
gives you a peace that is beyondunderstanding. So why we don't
(18:58):
understand it? It's cool, because his piece supersedes our
understanding anyway. So even ifyou did understand it, it still
is subjected to his peace. So ifyou don't understand it cool,
you still get his peace. Andthat's what's important. That's
what we need to focus on. Guys.
We shouldn't be focusing on whywe're going through something.
It says why, you know, so wecould be perfected and complete,
(19:23):
lacking in nothing when it comesto our faith and our character
in Christ, you know, so it'snot, it's not about that, but
the wisdom that God seeks, youknow, that God gives you, it is,
it starts with his peace. Italways starts with his peace. He
gives you a peace about it, youknow, and it's cool. Then, once
(19:44):
you understand that, it puts itin perspective. It necessarily
doesn't make it not a realsituation. It is a real
situation. However, God is stillbigger than any situation. So if
the person that's bigger thanyour situation is still there,
present with you. Do. Doesn'treally matter what you're going
through. It really does. I don'twant to. I was hesitant because,
(20:09):
you know, I'm thinking aboutfamily members dying. I'm
thinking about spouses childrendying. I'm thinking about, you
know, people being abducted, stuff like that. So I'm not
trying to downplay I'm reallynot trying to downplay
situations. However, despite allof those things combined, I am
confident, according to my word,I am confident that all those
(20:32):
things God is going to restore, even if it's not in this
lifetime. So as tragic as thingsare, I'm not taking away
anything from anybody's tragedyor trauma. However, I know God
said that it will all be okay.
There will be a time when itwill all be okay, and I am
(20:53):
looking towards that promise.
I'm looking towards that timebecause that is going to last
for eternity. Everything herethat we go through it happens in
but a vapor and but a splitmoment in this time is is very
short in comparison to the thefullness of everything that he
(21:17):
promises for eternity. So that'swhere I'm coming with it. So I'm
again, not trying to downplayany real trauma or traumatic
events, anything that'sseriously tragic. However, I am
saying, no matter how tragicsomething is, how distraught
something may be, or someone maybe, the goodness that God has in
(21:38):
store for eternity for those wholive in obedience according to
his Word, man, through His Son,Jesus Christ, man, it's it's
incomparable, guys, it's trulyincomparable. And I believe that
that's my faith from everythingI went through. That is my
faith, that is my conviction.
And I stand on that. I reallystand on that, guys, and I hope
(21:59):
that you learn to stand on ittoo, seek that seek that
confidence and boldness, knowingthat, yo, God, I'm going to cry,
I'm going to feel bad, but I'multimately going to give it to
you, knowing that, hey, you'regoing to make this right one
day, and I'm going to move inlight of that one day, not
today. If I try to move today, and probably ain't moving, you
(22:23):
know, I might ball up and giveup somewhere in the corner, cry
myself hysterically. Don't wantto be involved. I want to talk
to nobody. Don't want to beinvolved in anything. And you
know, I'm a victim of that nowtoo. However, you know, you have
to stand up and move on. Movethrough, because there's still
more. You're here. You're here, guys, you're here. So still more
(22:44):
work that needs to be done. Soand again, last thing I would
say on that I got written hereis, you know, just claim victory
of the situation, or freedom inthe situation in advance with
the boldness, faith andconfidence God calls his
children to have in the midst ofadversity. You know, we are more
than conquerors. So meaning itis already defeated, it's, it's
(23:08):
already won. We're just goingthrough the motion. So we're
more than a conqueror, you know,conqueror. Don't even a
conqueror doesn't know ifthey're going to be a conqueror
again. You know is you're just aconqueror over what you just
been through, versus us. Weknow, no matter what we go
through, we going to win. SoLord, thank you. Thank you for
(23:31):
that. So don't give up, guys.
That's the whole thing fortoday. You know, again, from
James one, two to four.
Considerate our joy, mybrethren, when you encounter
various trials, knowing that thetesting of your faith produces
endurance, and let endurancehave its perfect result, so that
you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. So with that
(23:54):
being said, if anybody needsprayer, you know, if anybody
needs to give their life to God,you know, I ask that you do it
now. You know, just, just simplytalk to him, Father, I'm seeking
you. You know, come into mylife. You know, help me
understand who you are throughyour Son, my Savior, Jesus,
(24:15):
Christ, and He will be there, guys, if you need someone to
talk to, please, he can hit meup. Of course, my information is
in the show notes. I prefer yougo to a local church that the
Lord is leading you to. Ipromise. If you pray, if you
ask, You have not because youask, not. Let's just put it that
(24:37):
way, you have not because youask not so ask them. Ask them
who for a local church? Ask themfor a group of biblical people
that you can just confide in andtalk to for prayer or just talk
about salvation so you can help.
You can start walking in thisboldness and confidence that you
(24:58):
are able to consider it a. Alljoy when you go through these
things, knowing that these arejust tests that prepare you for
what he has in store for you. SoI thank you for everybody for
