Unknown (00:00):
Daryl,
welcome to give it to all the
(00:02):
podcast where we dive deep intolife's biggest challenges and
victories through a biblicallens. I'm your host, Daryl
Baptist junior, and I'm excitedtoday to introduce you to my
friend, my brother, DevonCooper. Devon is the lead pastor
of the thriving Worship Centerin West Palm Beach, Florida,
where our mission is buildingpeople to become better. He's a
(00:22):
native of the Bahamas who's beeninvolved in ministry over half
his life. His goal is to come tohelp people become all that God
called us to be. Uh, welcome tothe show. Devon, glad to have
you, man, what's up, bro? Startto I'm, glad to be with you,
yes, sir. Man, that's awesome.
(00:44):
It's been long overdue. I'll saythat, yeah for sure.
Let him know. Man, yeah, I'vemet Devon when
I first joined my local churchthat I'm at now, about Calvary,
and we just been connected eversince you know he's he's from
the home, my mom's home overthere in the islands, the two
(01:06):
for two. Shout out tobeautiful country of the
Bahamas.
So he's a chef. Man, he's afather. He's just so many
things. Man, it's just amazing.
He's just been such an amazingperson, an impactful person in
my life when it comes to myspiritual journey. So I
definitely want to have him comeon and hope that he could be a
(01:28):
blessing and an inspiration tosome of the listeners. Man, now
listen, first of all, let me,let me say this, I am honored
just to know you, just to seeyour walk, just to see your just
to see your growth, I think wemet at Mount, well, we really
met at Mount Calvary, and therewas always a connection between
me and you, but I was like, Igonna force it. Let's just see
(01:51):
what's gonna happen. But fornow, bro, I have to say you've
been you've been consistent inyour craft. You've been
consistent even in helping pushBishop green just visioned,
right? I wasn't there for thewhole part of the story, but
I'm, but I'm glad I met you whenI did Correct. Yeah, I took a
lot of stuff with with me thatyou actually taught me, so I
(02:13):
gotta give you, give you creditfor that. Hey, man. Hey man,
I'm, I'm honored to hear that, man, but definitely a nothing
I'm doing, that's for sure. It'sall the Lord. Man, the fact that
he used you in such a way toimpact me so early on in the
faith. Man, it's just, it's justawesome. Man, just so awesome.
So I'm glad, again, I'm justglad that you want to show man,
(02:33):
so we go get to it for theaudience.
So who has been a significantspiritual influence and how have
they impacted your journey?
Let me Wow. Imma be verytransparent with you when, when
I saw the questions this firstquestion, I'm like, Who? Because
(02:53):
you just, in my life, you justdon't have one person, right?
You know, right, right? I thinkmy spiritual life has been like
it's been interesting. I hadpeople who was with me from the
foundation, people who was withme when it was time ill. Now,
people who with me to reallyhelp put the finishing touches.
But I gotta say that locally,it has to be my dad. He's been,
(03:18):
he's been very spiritual to mein terms of that, because I've
watched him go through a seasonwhere he taught me how to pray,
he showed me the values ofprayer.
And I think what I love abouthim the most was that when I was
in the darkest season of mylife, I told him this, when I
(03:38):
was in the darkest season of mylife, he was quiet.
He didn't say nothing. I wasangry. I was upset with him, but
my mind went on Jesus, whenJesus was on the cross and God
didn't say nothing.
Wow. So I think what God wastrying to show me was that every
good Father knows that a part ofresurrection. You got to go
(04:03):
through the crucifixion process.
You got to be through theprocess where you broken. You
got to go through the processwhere you bruised. And as a good
father, I know I can't saynothing, because at the end of
it, you know, it's going to beworth it. So I think he has been
locally, he has been he's beento go for me, but abroadly, I
gotta go now, you know, I gottago with Bishop, Joseph Walker,
(04:24):
you know, I gotta go with him.
Um, talk to me. Talk to me.
Listen, man, I heard about himin 2012
I watched one video about him,and that was it. I think in 2014
I bought all of his books. Ithink I really became full
gospel because I was, I was justconnected to this vision. And
(04:47):
you kind of want to have a rolemodel or a spiritual leader that
every season in your life he hassomething to preach. So
when I was going through aseason of being trying to get my
finances right.
Get a series on finances. When Iwas going through a series of
trying to grow the ministry, hewas doing church growth
strategies and all of that. So Ireally gotta go with him. I
(05:08):
mean, I've you, you have plentymentors, but you only have a few
fathers, and he's, he's one ofthem.
Wow, yeah, I think with me andyou met, I kind of, I was, I was
kind of a weird guy at Taylor, because I was, I was just
telling you how much I love thisman and how much I'm in full
gospel. And he was like, bro, really. Alright, alright,
(05:30):
right, yeah, I, you know, to befair, I had no clue what full
gospel was, you know, I didn'tknow about the different
denominations, the differentassociations, fellowships. Had
no clue, you know. I justthought, hey, Baptist Church,
you're a Baptist church. I knowthere's general Baptist,
Southern Baptist food, you know,so many different,
(05:52):
different, different things, youknow, and
just how impactful they havebeen to different communities.
So, you know, you definitelyhelp introduce me into full
gospel. I had no clue bishop. Heeven became a bishop because of
full gospel and stuff like that.
So,right? But I think with me to be
kind of be kind of beard. I'mbig on documentaries and I'm big
(06:14):
on transparency. Now I grew upAssemblies of God my whole life,
even being in the promise. Butwhen I saw what Bishop Martin
did in the Baptist Church, it'show he said, Okay, I'm going to
give Baptist the right tochoose, I think that intrigued
me more, because when he firststarted, he had some heavy
hitters who who stood with him, right? So, so that alone spoke
(06:34):
volume to his character. And Ithink one of the things I love
about Bishop Martin is that, um,someone said this, that he makes
you feel a part of division, like I can't do this side of
ministry without Daryl. I knowI'm Monique Daryl. I know I'm
Monique Devon, or I know I'mgonna need Bishop ranker, right,
right? He never made it abouthim, but he made it about
(06:56):
building people, and I thinkthat's something our, our
generation, needs. Because, youknow, everything is a one man
show at this point, yeah, yeah, yeah. So I think I answered that
question. Oh, no, I know thatwas beautiful. I know what me
and you we just lastconversations. Oh, yeah,
exactly, you know, yeah, this, this, this is a
(07:17):
typical conversation, yeah, exactly, exactly. We just have a
little, a slight little formatto it, but the Holy Spirit going
to take over do what he doesanyway. So, you know,
that's cool. So alright, man. Sotell us about the moment a time
when God called you to step intoyour purpose. Then how did you
respond to that?
(07:41):
I was just going to beembarrassing, right? But I, I
was a little boy, always likechurch. It was weird. I always
loved church. Um,I would, I was embarrassing. You
know, growing up like, well, yougrew up in the States, but you
know, growing up for us, everysummer, we would go to Palm
(08:03):
Beach. We would come to PalmBeach and, um, I would go to the
mall. Now, not the outlets, themall, mall, the Palm Beach mall,
back in the day, back in theday. Yeah, I would go to the
section next I can picture itnow. It was a beauty supply
store, and there was a Toys R Usstore, I would go in the Toys R
Us store, and I would buy theaction figures. And bro, I would
(08:26):
be so excited to come home justto have church. So I was playing
with action figures. I wasalways I loved going to church
with my dad. Um, when growing upin full gospel, when we had the
three services, I would be thechurch sometimes at 830 just to
sit in church. I just lovechurch. And I've had a few
pastors prophesy to me say, Oh,you going to be a pastor. You
(08:48):
going to be this, you going tobe that. But of course, you know
you gotta go through some thingsin life, um, but I had a sole
experience where God said, Okay, now this is what you need to do.
Because I often say, if a pastorcomes to you and say he always
wanted to be a pastor, twothings, either he really wanted
(09:09):
to be a pastor or he has nothingelse to do. Because no one
walks, no one walks into this.
There are some friends, thereare some sacrifices, there are
some things, and I just couldn'tshake this feeling off me.
And I I knew it was weird, but Ialso knew that it was God,
(09:29):
because God would never come toyou to tell you do something and
just you don't have theyou don't have the grace for it,
because God gives you the graceduring during the process.
Wow, wow.
So when? So, so, so a few weeksago, when I saw you preaching, I
was like, okay, alright, therego, right there, cuz
(09:52):
he was running from it. He waslike. He was like, I doing this.
I'm like, okay, yeah, so I stilldon't want to do it. But, yeah.
Butwhen you don't want to do it,
because, yeah, let's be real, you can be busy doing something
else. Amen. Amen. Amen.
Amen. Dad, thank you, thankingyou doing it and convincing
(10:13):
yourself you're doing it for theLord. Meanwhile, he, he already
gave you what he needed you todo, you know? So listen, I
completely agree. I've, I'vebeen there. I'm still trying to
wrap my, wrap my mind aroundthis that, the fact people call
me Pastor, that see thank you for that,
because I really don't like theterm minister. It's not, I don't
like it. But, you know, just,it's awkward, bro, it's just
(10:36):
awkward. So the fact that youare actually a pastor, Pat, you
know, that's I can imagine. WhatI feel is times 100,000 you
know, for you, yeah, but I think, I think the
beauty of our generation, broand I'm gonna be very, I'll be
very sensitive to this. Ibelieve that our generation, we
are more authentic, like we actually want to see
(10:59):
you. We don't care about titles,we don't care about positions.
We don't we, you know, weactually just want to build a
relationship. You want to buildcovenant, build that trust. So
it's like when I'm around you,you okay? I'm Pastor, you know,
whatever the case may be, but Inever allowed it to get to my
head. Neverbecause a pastor is just a
(11:19):
title. Devon is forever, you know. So that's, that's my
whole cue on it. But you, you aminister, Minister. You, you,
you got ordained in the BaptistChurch. You, you end up,
you, you ain't going nowhere.
You in you in there.
It's something bad. It'sdefinitely something, bro, Lord
(11:41):
have mercy. Hey, but I'mhonored. Man, I was honored to
be to go from damnation, man tothe proclamation of His word and
to impact people. Man, it's justso humbling just how far he's
brought me in. And just for methinking I'm like, Man, I'm only
a few years into this. Like, ifGod allows me to live to my 70s,
(12:03):
80s, 90s, and with at least somekind of a sound mind, like, how,
how much more impactful I can befor His Kingdom. Man, I'm just
excited for the future of this.
SoCalvary mind, because I believe
that Calvary got a they actuallyhave a good fit. They they have
a good fit with you.
They have a good now, I was, Iwas a little too radical.
(12:26):
I was a little too old. So, so Idon't, I don't think I was the
right fit, but I think you, youwere the good fit.
Amen. Hey, we'll see. Man, we'llsee. I think I'm a little
radical. Radical. What's up?
Man, I only preach one time sofar, so, but You wrecked it
though, bro, you preach.
I was watching. I was watching.
I was watching, and I wasjealous. I made this mind y'all
(12:47):
on the coat suite.
I hadall this. Amen, hey, that was
the hey, that's the, I call itthe starter kit Bishop with Bob.
You the starter kit,but that's what it's so amazing
you say that, right? Because I,if you study scripture, I
believe affirmation, and it's soimportant. Because without,
(13:10):
without a Timothy, I mean, Iwithout a call, I don't think
that would have been Timothy, right, correct? Without a
Joshua. I don't think that wouldhave been without a Moses. I
don't think that would have beena Joshua. So right? You go
through seasons where you needto be a firm and I think me and
you talked about this one time Iwas going through a season where
(13:31):
I was looking for affirmation, looking like someone to push me,
someone to someone to do that.
But here's what I discovered, though, in life, you need the
right voice to speak into yournets.
You need the right voicecuz you, you will be trying to
be affirmed by someone who don'twho don't even know you. Wow.
(13:53):
See, Bishop could affirm youbecause you you like you had
spent time with Bishop.
Bishop knows the Daryl. Bishopknows the minister. Bishop knows
everything so, so he reallycould have, he really could
affirm you. Now he couldn'taffirm me like that, because I
came out of nowhere and I leftquick.
(14:15):
So I give you if I soundjealous, I am, but bro, hey, it
is what it is, you know, we hearyou definitely, it definitely
went to bed, though, be if itwasn't for you, too, Baby, you
definitely inspired me, just to,you know, like I tell people all
the time, man, my boy used tojust write sermons, man, and
that that was just soinspirational. I never, you
(14:38):
know, up until, you know, thiswalk, I never really met active
Christians for real, for real.
That's really was living, youknow, living their faith out,
you know, for how the best theyunderstood it, but just the
pureness of it. Man, I know alot of people that claim to be
Christian. They claim to, youknow, walk, the walk, but it's
different seeing the.
(15:00):
Yeah, the humility and thevulnerability of of people,
especially in my age range, andstuff with, you know, similar
type backgrounds, it's like, wow. You know, you could be
doing so many other things, but,you know, this is what you
choose to do. So it definitelyalways is fuel, you know, just
the whole season of, you know, you know, staying ready, you
(15:23):
know, right, right. So that'sI can say this, and I'll be
very,I'll be very transparent with
you when I make this point. Um,I think the biggest mistake I
made early in ministry was thatI saw too much
to wherever I saw too much.
(15:45):
I think when I went to the firstfull gospel conference, the
biggest mistake I made was thatI was like a groupie seeing a
bunch of celebrities.
So I didn't I left theconference saying, Okay, I want
this, I want that. I want this,I want that. But I didn't know
what this cost. I didn't knowthe sweat this night. I didn't
(16:07):
know the sacrifices, you know, Ididn't know the burden of
sprints. Because I was taught, you know, when, when you walk
with God, it's going to be easy.
Yeah, I wasn't taught that, whenyou walk with God, there's a,
there's a chance that all that, that all hell is going to break
loose. But what you didcountless at times, yeah, yeah,
(16:30):
for sure. For sure. Yeah, so,so, so I give me, I give, I give
you credit for that, because youshowed me what it is to stick,
to stick to a vision.
I give you and I can't, I can'teven say, you know, I was really
stuck to Bishop vision, man, Ican't even, I can't even go that
far. I just, I stuck to God, andGod told me to stay there plenty
(16:55):
of times. I even, you know, wanted to leave. And each time I
told my pastor that inleadership. And, you know, God
just been clear, you know, like, hey, you know, it's like, this
most recent time he just toldme, hey, it's still more work to
do is, and it's like, wow. Andit's like, Alright, man, you
gotta be, do you gotta, yougotta show me, you know. And I,
(17:16):
and I trust him, you know. So,yeah, and I and I think, and I
think too, what our generation, where we go wrong? I'm not going
to fit in on our generation, butI am a part of a generation.
I'll say it. I think we go afterthe image rather than going
after the fruit, becauseBishop Granger is one of the
(17:38):
smoothest preachers. I know hecan dissect the word. He can
teach you now, he's not a hollowhe's not a screamer. But if you
sit under Bishop Ranger, you goand get substance, you go and
get something. Okay, I can takethis with me. I think where we
go wrong. If you can who Paulathree points and raise the
offering automatically, I wantto connect with you,
(18:03):
because you doing where I'mtrying to go.
But all of that is flesh. Mm,all all of that is flesh.
Sometimes your pastor may havesometimes your pastor may be
like Jordan, the Baptist. He hasone good message, but every time
he speaks that message, something shifts. Things happen,
right, right, right, right. Soit's good to be connected to the
(18:26):
right soil, bro. So I like Isay, I give you kudos for that,
because you showed me what stickto. That's not even a word,
right? You, you gonna clean up,you, you showed me what it is to
stick to something. Yeah, thatperseverance, pretty much. Yeah,
most definitely. Man, so evenwith these biblical concepts we
(18:49):
throwing out right now, man, this segue is perfect to the
next question. So what is yourfavorite Bible verse or passage
that helps you stay encouragedduring challenging times, and
how does that look in action?
Well, I was just talking aboutsome I was just talking to
someone about this last name,um, so I work at a senior living
right? Okay, andI was talking to a elder lady,
(19:10):
and I asked her, what's herfavorite Bible scripture, what's
her favorite Bible verse? Shesaid, grab my Bible, because I
have a lot of them. So everytime she gave me a scripture,
she said, read this verse, andthe verse says, And it came to
(19:31):
pass. She said, Okay, stop rightthere. Now, go to this go to the
Scripture and read this verse. Isaid. She said, read it. I said,
And it came to pass. She said,Okay, stop right there. She
said, Every time you see it cameto pass, that's my favorite
scripture. So I was like, Holdon That don't make no sense,
because where's the substance?
(19:52):
She said, Devon, once I see itcame to pass, I don't need to
read what happened after, huh?
Her.
So she, like, in her 80s, andI'm like, just so now, you know,
I'm a young preacher. I'm like,This is good preaching material.
Butyou know, you know, listen, you,
you, you, you a minister now,Bishop gonna have you preaching.
(20:14):
You gonna find the sermon inanything.
Bro, you can be, listen, I tellyou. I tell you this, you can
find the sermon in anything. Iremember one time. I'm going
back to the question, but Iremember one time me and my son,
we were at McDonald's, and hehad ordered his food, and I
(20:36):
ordered my food, but my orderwas kind of different, so they
had told me to pull over, so I'mwatching everyone get their food
on the line. But I wasdistracted, because I was on a
phone call, and it was like, itwas like, a good 15 or 16
minutes, and now I'm starting toget upset because I'm waiting.
And she came and she said, Well,I asked her, like, why my food
(20:58):
was late. Now, by profession,I'm a chef. I know why. I just
want to say, she said, Well, youdidn't order what was on the
menu.
So we had to change some stuffeven. And that's what God said
to me. In life, you can watchpeople get what they want, but
when you have a when you have aspecific order, it's going to
take some time.
(21:20):
So when I say you can findsermons in anything, you can
find it in anything. But myfavorite scripture in this
season has to be Romans eightand Clinton. And
we know, we know all things worktogether. Wow, that's my faith.
That's my favorite scripture, because between together and
work, you going to be confused.
(21:45):
So I, I thinkthat's been my, that's been the
scripture that's been holding mefor the past three years. Wow,
wow, wow.
I think that's, that's been myfavorite scripture. Man, that's,
that's beautiful man that that, yeah, ain't no deep revelation.
That's just my favoritescripture. I'm living that I'm
(22:06):
living that scripture. I'mliving that scripture, bro. Wow.
So think I think, in a goodBaptist world, that that might
be my three points, my myholler, right there.
I going to do that. That'sfunny. Man, I love it. Man, I
(22:27):
love it. Yeah, Romans. Romanshas to be one of my favorite
books, especially chapter eight, though chapter eight and Romans
is good and how it ends. Youknow, obviously that's 20 is not
the end, but it's right there bythe end. And, you know, it's
just so rich man, the the amountof promises that is in Romans
eight, you know, there is nocondemnation for those who love
(22:50):
the Lord. You know, andyou know, stuffy like that. You
know, all the way to like whatyou say. You know, all things,
all things, work together. Youknow,
I will give you this, because Iknow you got to preach so, so,
so I'm going, I'm just going togive you this, and I'll just tag
you in. But I thinkwhen I see Romans, Romans eight
(23:11):
and verse 18,when he says, For I reckon that
the suffering of this presenttime
compared to the glory which Ireveal. Listen now, bro, I've
been in church. I've been inchurch all my life. I've heard
Romans eight, verse 18, preach, dissect it. But ain't nothing
(23:35):
better than when you live in,when you live in the Scripture.
Come on, guys, like it. Talkingto you don't like,
you know, ain't nothing better, like, ain't nothing, see, I can
read Lazarus, God. God said,Lazarus, you know, come
but it's better when me knowingthe state I was in. And I could,
(23:56):
and God could move that peoplecan move that to him, and I can
walk out knowing that, okay, Iwas dead. I was out here, but I
just needed instructions. I justneeded to hear a voice.
So, bro, I let's see this slide.
Two preachers can't talk. Wewill be talking all day. Go
ahead.
No,you good man, it's all this the
(24:17):
Lord's topic, man, this is Lordconversation. So go ahead, bro,
that's amazing man. Thank youfor that man that just just
having that confidence that allthings will work together. So
that's how you get through yourtime. So and and kind of related
to that, but slightly different, slightly different. How do you
navigate moments of doubt orquestioning in your relationship
(24:38):
with God?
Um, well, I believe thatdoubt is normal,
especially when you head intounexpected territories. And I
believe what God does He? He.
(25:00):
Reminds you of his promises whenwe least expect it,
when we have things going on inour life where we confuse and we
don't know if God is going topull us through See, as long as
you and God's will, the worrying is going to be at a
certain levels.
The worrying has to be at acertain level, because I believe
(25:25):
me, me, personally, I've seenGod hands work over so much
situations in my life, in myfamily's life, in my career,
even in the ministry, I'veliterally seen God's hand.
So what all I do is rememberwhat I know God brought me out
of and I bring into my presentsituation. Come on now, like,
(25:47):
you say, like, like, I say, between the waiting and the
manifestation in the middle isgoing to be some warfare. Yeah,
it's going to be some momentswhen, when you feel like Moses,
like, when you won't just hitthe rock out of, out of
frustration, right? You're goingto walk through some seasons
where you gonna have your Elijahmoment, and you said, God, no,
just take my life. When I when Igo to bed tonight, I don't, I
(26:10):
don't want to wake up, but I2024, the beginning part of the
year. God gave me thisrevelation that if I allow you
to wake up every morning, that'sthe second chance of you getting
it right. Wow, that's a secondchance. And I believe that we
serve a God. See, people say Godis the God of a second chance
(26:30):
for growth. If you look at yourlife and all the mistakes you
made, God is the God of a secondchance, a third chance, a fourth
chance, yeah.
Many chances, many chances,yeah,
thank God for His grace and Hismercy. Man. Listen, listen, I,
(26:53):
I, you, you, you are. You arehappily married now, and Bible
says that proverbs 31he that finds a wife finds a
good thing. And I know I'm nottheologically there, but I know
he says he he obtains favor withGod. So because I'm in a season
where I'm I'm in I am, I ambeing created by grace.
(27:18):
I am being created by grace. Godhas been so gracious to me. But
I do know when I get to thatnext season, then that's when
favors gonna hit me.
It's deep, it's deep, man, it'sit's the truth, yeah, yeah,
that they not like that favor.
That's for the show, bro, favor.
(27:41):
Listen, favorite favor in favor, when you got it, it's fine. You
better enjoy it. Yeah, youbetter enjoy it. Yes, it's
definitely a stewardship. Man,gotta steward that favor
because, um, you know, Imentioned that like my baby
shower, bro, personally, biggestbaby shower I've ever been to,
had over 100 something peoplethere. And I think for the first
(28:03):
year, bro, I spent maybebetween, you know, the whole
family, but spent like 150 bucksfor the whole year for my baby,
if that her first year, orit was just favorite dog, I
can't, you know, I had to go geta thing, storage unit, bro,
(28:23):
to hold all this dang stuff. Youknow what? I mean, it was too
much stuff, bro.
But I'm so grateful, man, I'm sograteful, but I know it has
nothing to do with me, bro. It'sonly the favor of the Lord, only
bro, because I don't deserve it.
I deserve everything, but that, you know, listen, listen, we
all, we are all saved by graceand favor. I believe I've done,
(28:46):
I've done enough for God to evensay, Hey, you on your one
you know, we've all had ourmoments where we messed up.
We've all, we've all had ourmoments where we've where we
like say, okay, living, livingin the world is better than
this, because now you gotta havea certain trust level in God.
(29:08):
When people say, You foolishGod, I'm gonna have to depend on
you to walk me through theseason of uncertainty.
What's going to happen next?
Right? Right, right. And I, andI say this too, but we, we serve
a God who shows us the end andthe beginning, but he shows us
the middle. All right, yeah, yeah. He put us the
(29:32):
middle, yeah. See, because it's,it's easy to say, God gave me a
word to go start that business, but it's hard to say I don't
understand what's going on whenGod gave me this word, because
God knows you're going to gothrough a season of being
bankrupt. He knows you're goingto go through a season of of the
business not going the way.
Watch this. You thought itshould have went
(29:54):
and I think that's where we gowrong, because we put our we put
our needs, and we put our.
Our thoughts in place, and Godis like, okay, no, this is my
vision. I'm, I'm, I'm using you,but I'm going to bless you
through the process, right? You know, so I'm going to
watch this, I'm going to grantyou guaranteed breaks, because
you're going to messup, you're going to drop the
(30:19):
ball,you know? So we've, we've, um,
we've all about the song sayingwe've, we've literally come this
far by faith.
Yeah, yeah. Most definitely, most definitely, I agree. I
(30:39):
agree, quiet. I was taught inseminary school if, if, if a
preacher is quiet during theconversation, he's he's stealing
his notes for Sunday. So that'show it works.
If you steal it, just, just sendme a love offer. It. Just send
me a love offer. Yeah, that'show it works. You gotta coach me
up, bro.
(31:02):
Man, now that's, that's greatman. I thank you for that. So,
um, with that being said, how doyou stay calm when balancing
everything?
Um,I, what I've discovered is that
Idon't want to make it spiritual,
but, but, but, we have to I'vediscovered that once God has
centered around everything, everything falls in place. Mm,
(31:32):
everything falls in place.
Because there were times when Ihad some good business ideas and
I failed. There were some timeswhen I had some good motives and
I failed, and I noticed the ideas and the
executions for sound good, butwhen I get in prayer, it
changes.
Because just because somethingis a good idea, that's, that
(31:54):
doesn't mean that it's, it's,it's a god idea. Exactly
correct, correct, but I believeGod gives you the grace God
needs now. Now we back on thisgrace God gives you the grace
God gives gives you theguidance, and most importantly,
God gives you the knowledge ofhow you want to execute this.
(32:15):
You know, he said, Seek youfirst, the kingdom of God and
His righteousness and all ofthese things shall be added onto
you. So once you see key first, these things come Amen,
yeah, so I think, I think that'sbeen, that's kind of like the
season I'm in right now. I'mjust learning fast. I'm learning
I'm learning balance.
Yeah, that's so deep, man, that's so deep.
(32:38):
Yeah? Because I think too, andyou, you, you could say it too,
because you know you, you afather. We are so our job is to
make sure that our children hasthis, has that, has this, has
that. But you would be shockedto know how much your children
just want your time.
Come onlike you won't give up over like
(32:59):
you could give up over time thatyour tax won't take to go to
your son's or your daughter'sbasketball game, right? So it
God. God gives you the gracefor, I think he gives you the
grace and he gives you thebalance to do it too.
I like how you said it, though.
You know, just centeringeverything around God
(33:23):
as a as a lifestyle, you know?
Yeah. And here's the thing, ithas to be a lifestyle too.
Because I, I'll tell you this,we started the ministry in 2022
the the part of 22 now, here itis. Now, I'm a young preacher.
Don't really know, don't reallyknow what I'm doing. So I've
(33:46):
seen the decrease in my personalspiritual life, because now when
I open the Bible, the firstthing I'm doing is I'm I'm
studying for what to preach onThursday, right, right, right.
So I I lost my intimacy with Himearly and and I heard a pastor
said this, and I kept this, ifyou always could with God, you
(34:08):
always be good for the people.
So some of my most intimatetimes with God is not when I'm
studying or not, that's just mytime with him.
And this day he gives meviolence. This day he shows me
how to navigate this area, orhow to do this or how to do
that. So I I believe justcentering everything around god,
(34:38):
that's deep man. That's deep manallow everything to track
towards him versus, you know?
Yeah, I like that. I like that.
I like that, you know. Okay, canyou share an example of how God
turned a failure or a set backinto something good in your
life?
Just tell you which one. Ah.
(35:00):
I believe,I believe my biggest failure. I
was my biggest failure, but Iwas, I was in a season where I
was going through a lot. AndI'll,
I'll tell you this. You everbeen at a place where
you just having bad news afterbad news, and
(35:25):
it was a rough season. You know,it was, it was, you know, we
talking, it was my divorce.
I we from the islands. We don'tknow what divorce is, yeah,
yeah, we don't that that wordalone to us is is detrimental.
We don't know what it is. So Ihad to learn how to
(35:50):
put my trust in God. But Icouldn't listen to everybody
else story. I had to be a partof my own story.
And when I went through thatseason, bro, I kid you not
my I lost the Lord, but I gainedfavor with God.
I gained favor with God.
(36:13):
I could truly believe whenpeople say even the Scripture,
I've never seen the righteousforsaken,
nor his seed, begging for bread.
I've gained I gained favor withGod
all because I stayed connected.
I stayed concerned and I stayedcommitted.
(36:36):
I stayed connected because Iknew this was in the end of it.
I I stayed concerned, because Inever wanted to be at a place
where God took took his handsoff me,
and I stayed committed because Iknew there was something I was
going to come come out of this.
See, I didn't want to be at aplace where
(36:56):
I think you spoke about thistoo, if you look at the life of
David and Saul.
You remember now, let's be real.
Saul did way less, way less thanDavid.
Saul didn't do that much so. Butthe problem was, God was trying
(37:17):
to show me. He said, the ones Icould use, people who screw up.
I just can't use people who whoI can't trust
so, so, so David might be thatbrother who gonna have a woman
problem, but I can trusthim. David might be that
Brother, if he sees your wife,he gonna, he gonna get her
pregnant and make sure that youyou did when it's time for you
(37:39):
to go to war, but I can trusthim. I just can't use who I
can't trust. And I never wantedto be at a place where I say,
God, I don't want you to nottrust me.
This bad. This looks bad. Itlooks like I feel.
But I just need to know that youcan still trust me. And I think
where, I think where, where theline is drawn, even in ministry,
(38:01):
but it's thatyou gotta live a certain
lifestyle, just so people cannottalk about you. And I think
that's starting up, starting todwindle down,
because people, people just wantto see you for you, you know? I
mean, yeah, yeah, yeah. So Ithink, I think that is, that has
been the most crucial part. Butlike I say, bro, goes right back
(38:26):
to Romans, 828, you know, allthings work together.
No matter what it is, all thingswork together.
Wow. Man, wow.
Now that's, that'sWow. Man, I know that was a
tough thing. Man, still tough.
(38:46):
Man, and but like you said, howhe just used that to to let you
grow in favor, and just givingyou that confidence, that he
still trusts you, he can stilluse you, and still work to do
and that,if anything, what you've been
through made you stronger and inHim and for Him. So
(39:09):
that's amazing, bro for sharingthat. Thank you for sharing
that. No problem. And I thinktoo, bro, it's like and I even,
I even commend what you'redoing, because you don't get,
you don't get this realconversation, no more,
especially in church, right? No,you don't get this. It's like,
okay, like, can, can I can Istill hear from you on Sunday,
(39:33):
knowing that what God watches, what he delivered you from.
Because I think most peoplejudge people based on their past
to see why, like, God can't usesomething, bro, I if you study
scripture, you know we're goingto talk about this. Everyone in
the Bible, there was a problemwith him.
Bishop said, everybody a xsomething. Everybody
(39:57):
said, X something. Amen.
Yes, Lord, I know I am. I tellyou this live, if ain't no X to
your name, I'm questioning. Hey,come on. Hey,
how you going to navigate methrough a season that you ain't
never been through? Come on. Yougot no testimony.
(40:18):
I gotta touch your spirit, butI gotta hear your name caught up
in something first before I sayI got
no, that's amazing. Man, that'sgreat. Man, I thank you for just
joining the podcast. Man, today,it's been such an honor. Man, to
have you. Man, just to shareyour story. Man, share your
(40:40):
encouragement. I know thatsomebody here has been
encouraged today. So before wesign off, is there anything that
you would like to share with theaudience, any news, any, any,
anything that the Lord isleading you to say,
let me, let me say this.
I believe what happened tonight.
This conversation was needed, because I think Gone were the
(41:02):
days where people looking foraffiliates, people actually
looking for real, authenticfriendships,
people people looking forbrotherhood. I was just sharing
with the pastor today because Iwas in a season in ministry. I'm
in the season of ministry nowwhere, I'll tell you this, where
(41:24):
I don't actually want to fit, Iwant to be connected. And I told
him this, I was very transparentfor him. I said, I don't need
another mentor right now becauseI actually have that. I don't
need a spiritual father rightnow because I have that right
now. I need a friend, and you and you know grow
ministry is one of the mostloneliest place you could be in
(41:46):
because you don't, because youalways got to have your guards
up. Yeah, all I heard BishopWalker said this, I propelled.
He said, in life, when you hit acertain peak, not even hit a
certain peak. You got to treateverything like a setup
that that could be annoying. Youcan't let it, you know. So I
(42:11):
think this season, I'm justpraying for stronger
friendships. I'm just prayingfor stronger bonds. And what you
doing tonight? I don't knowwhat's going to be a next Yes,
but I pray that the seed weplanted tonight blossoms into
something great, and bro, God isgoing to use it, because you
actually shift in the cultureright now.
Wow, you actually shift in theculture right now. When you came
(42:34):
to me with this idea, I said, bro, let's do it and see watch
this.
You can be the only person whocould do this, because if you
put this in my hand, this ain'tgonna work.
This is not gonna work.
And I believe what, what God isshowing us in the season is that
you could be anointed evenwithout a microphone, right,
(42:57):
right? You know your ministrycan spread just what we'll be
doing right now, because it'sjust a casual conversation.
Wow,you know, and I think too, we've
been we've we've talked aboutthis, we've talked about the the
shortage of men in church, and you would be thought to know
(43:21):
Daryl, how much men would loveto come to a conversation like
this?
Wow,yeah, yeah, yeah, this is better
than a Sunday morning sermon, right? So for somebody, yes,
sir, yes, sir. And that's whatI'm hoping, I'm hoping to touch
people in that way, you know, and it's because it's the same
(43:41):
guy, you know, he's the sameGod. He's able to use anyone or
anything, because some people, like you said, they might not be
at the level to receive in thein a sanctuary type setting, but
they're able to listen in on aconversation and be moved by the
pureness, the vulnerability, therealness that's being shared.
You know,I received, I think, I think you
(44:03):
want to something in the wordsof, in the words of a fellow
Bahamian artist. All we got iseach other at this point.
So, so I'm standing with you3,000%
and know this is the beginning, and I believe that your I
(44:26):
believe that your yes to this isgonna open up some major doors
for you, bro. Hey, I receive it.
Yeah, I receive them all. Allthe doors stay open,
and bringing the Hovis in withme. Yes, sir,
don't forget me. Oh, Daryl, youyou right there with me, bro,
you right there with me? Man, asyou as you see, as you see. So
(44:50):
nah. Man, we thank everybody fortuning in today. We hope that
this episode has found a niceplace in your heart. You know
that you able to meditate, chewon some of these things.
Of the word that's been spokento you have any questions, feel
free to reach out, like, comment, share on this podcast.
And if you ever find yourself inWest Palm Beach on a Thursday,
come stop by the thrivingWorship Center. Man, my brother,
(45:12):
I only have a word for you,but we just thank you again,
Devon, for stepping on theplatform. Well, listen, seeing
that this is free publicity. I'mgonna take it back. Yeah, yeah,
Daryl. He's one. He's the topmedia guy I know in West Palm
Beach. I mean, I mean he, he,he, I think he owes me a solid.
I think he owes me a favor. So Idon't know when, but um, next
(45:37):
year I'm gonna look forward todoing some more conversations
like this. We're gonna be havingsome more dialects, some more
dialogs. And bro, I'm excitedfor you. I'm excited for you,
man, thank you so much, bro. I'mlooking I'm looking forward to
everything. God got this story.
I got you, bro, I say a word ofprayer before we leave. Let's go
Holy Father. We thank you forthis connection that God. We
thank you for just bringing ustogether so we can have this
(45:59):
dialog. God, I pray right now, that God, that this is not only
the beginning of somethinggreat, but this is the beginning
of something that was reallyordained by you now. God bless
this ministry. That God blessthe people. That God, God we
pray for favor, Dear God, Godfavor in banks, Dear God, God
favor in podcast, visions. ThatGod, God expand this dear God.
And God, we thank you foreverything that will be said and
(46:20):
everything that was done andeverything that was said now.
God bless us as we go ourseparate ways, that God lead us,
guide us and and protect us,that God bring us back at your
next appointed time this, we askin Jesus name, amen, amen. Amen.
Enjoy this Hey. Thank you, man.
Thank you. Enjoy this road.
Yeah, you gonna have me aspecial guest, probably in a
(46:42):
