Episode 3: Obedience
Welcome to the third episode of Give It Your All! In this episode, we dive deep into the topic of obedience and what it means to live a life that honors God.

Introduction
What does God say about obedience? James 1:22 reminds us that hearing and knowing the Word isn’t enough—obedience is the key. Even Satan knows Scripture, but the difference lies in how we respond to it.

Obedience as an Expression of Love
John 14:15 makes it clear: "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments." Just as parents show their love through providing, protecting, and sacrificing, children express their love through faith and obedience. Our relationship with God mirrors this principle—our love is demonstrated through our actions.

Living in Obedience
Choosing God over ourselves isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it. It’s a decision to grow spiritually, even when it’s uncomfortable. Thankfully, we don’t have to walk this path alone. Seeking God daily, surrounding ourselves with supportive friends, and using tools like apps and programs can help us stay on course.

Next Steps
It’s time to grow up spiritually. While obedience doesn’t always feel good, it ultimately works for our good. Deny self, seek God, and remember—you’re never alone in this journey.

How to Pray
Use the ACTS method to guide your prayer life:

  • Adoration: Start by praising God for who He is.
  • Confession: Acknowledge your sins and ask for forgiveness.
  • Thanksgiving: Express gratitude for His blessings.
  • Supplication: Bring your requests before Him.

Unknown (00:07):
Daryl, welcome to give it your all the podcast where we
dive deeper to life's biggestchallenges and victories through
a biblical lens. I'm your host,Daryl Baptist junior, and I'm
excited today, as this is myofficial first episode doing
what the Lord has called me todo in regards to this podcast,
uh, today's topic will be aboutobedience, obedience, guys, that

(00:29):
is a major theme going back toGenesis with Adam in the garden,
uh, Adam and Eve in the garden.
But in particular, Adam, becausewe all know the word says sin
entered the world through oneman. That's why it's through one
man the world can be saved andredeemed through sin. That is
through our Lord and Savior,Jesus, Christ. But again,
obedience goes from Genesis toRevelations. You can find themes

(00:53):
about obedience in everyscripture, I'm sorry, every
scripture, but every book in theBible, you know what's, what's a
famous one my sister Tiffanylikes to use. You know,
obedience is better thansacrifice. You know, God allows
us to repent and sacrifice anddo things to get back in his
standing. But what's better forhim is that we don't have to get

(01:16):
out at all, that we don't haveto repent, that we just stay
obedient. You know, it's mucheasier to stay obedient to the
Lord than it is to be reconciledback. Not saying that it's
impossible to boo, impossible tobe reconciled back. It's just
one. You don't know when you'regoing to die, so you know that
there goes that one. So youdon't ever want to be living in

(01:39):
a state of disobedience. Ofcourse, we all fall short. He
gives us grace to repent, and Heknows our heart. So I don't
believe if we die after aparticular mistake, that doesn't
mean everything else is justnegated, but God knows that we
fall short. You know, God knowsour heart. So I do believe, in
those cases, a person still willreceive the fullness of their

(02:03):
salvation. However, if a personis living in disobedience,
that's another case. I justbecame a licensed minister
earlier this year, so I am notyet theologian. I am not an
apologist, although I would liketo be both of those things so
but right now, I do know theword is clear that it is better
for Christians to live inobedience, and we're going to

(02:27):
just go to the Word and we'regoing to go see, how can we
apply this theme to our lives?
Do believe the Lord gave me thistopic, because all these topics,
actually what I'm calling seasonone. All of these topics just to
go over real quick, obedience, just not giving up, just that

(02:47):
perseverance, maximizing youropportunities, living for God,
depending on God, and whathappens after you mess up. So
those are going to be my soloepisodes coming up over the next
few weeks. But again, today'stopic is obedience, so let's
dive right into the word Allright. So of course, I'm gonna

(03:08):
run this is every time we goover a topic, I'm gonna go to
what this guy have to say aboutit. So let's open up your books
to James 122 again, that isJames one and 22 I prefer, and I
will continue to read from theNew American Standard Bible, the

(03:30):
1995 version that has seemed tobe one of the more digestible
versions for me. I'm not reallyinto like the nivs, the nlts and
things like that. I don't haveany issue with them. It's just
for me. It kind of give you thestuff little too easy. I kind of
like to work. I like to work formy food and New American

(03:55):
Standard Bible is not KingJames. Now I can't a if you know
me, I can't do the key James.
I'm sorry. I respect everybodywho studies from that, but, man,
that's a whole different levelof English that I'm really not
trying to learn. But thank Godthat he has another source
through the American StandardBible that allows me to still
just dissect some languagethat's a little tough to chew

(04:18):
on, but then ultimately, theHoly Spirit gives revelation. So
for me, it's just a little bitmore fulfilling, however, but
whatever the Lord is leading youto do, NLT, New King James, the
college English Bible. There'sso many great translations and
transliterations out there, however, just letting you know
that I will be particularlyalways reading from the New

(04:39):
American Standard Bible, so butagain, James one and 22 but
prove yourselves, doers of theword, and not just hearers who
deceive themselves. And it'samazing right there, because
again, this theme is aboutobedience when God gives. Us a
word through His written Word,or, you know, for him speaking

(05:02):
through us, through the HolySpirit, or whatever means he
uses to reach our hearts and oursouls. We have to be obedient.
We can't just do what we want todo guys. We have to depend on
what God says to do it, how hesays to do it. It says, but
prove yourselves. Doers of theword. This is an action step.

(05:25):
This is not just Okay, God, Ibelieve in your word. I'm going
to do your word, andeverything's just all hunky
dory. So lackadaisical, dope.
But it says, Prove yourselves, meaning, Hey, show me. Show me
what you got. Show me what youcould do when it comes to this
word, because I gave you clearinstructions in this word. A lot

(05:48):
of people think salvation islike the end goal. It might be
the end goal when it comes toour flesh. However, once you
receive salvation and you areborn again, now the real work
happens. There's an expressionI've heard some years ago. It
says salvation is free, butdiscipleship costs. The Great

(06:13):
Commission calls all of us to bedisciples of the Lord, making
sure we baptizing people in thename of the Father, Son and the
Holy Spirit. So we have to beout there. The word, the faith,
is active. God is an act of God.
His word is an after word. Andwe has his people as his
followers. We have to be anactive people. You know, there

(06:34):
is a lot that Satan is doing aswe speak. He doesn't stop. He's
not God, he's not all powerful.
However he doesn't stop. So wecan't allow ourselves to play
idle or to just be idleChristians, but prove
yourselves, doers of the word, and not just hearers who deceive

(06:58):
themselves. There are a lot ofpeople. I know some personally,
and I'm sure there's many more, because that seems to be the
thing we use the Bible or God aslike a daily checkoff check box.
And I guess that's better thannot doing anything at all.
However, we can get deceivedguys to thinking that the

(07:21):
minimal we do is good enough toget us where God wants us to be,
and that is not the case, guys, sometimes God requires us to do
things that's beyond our comfortzone, beyond our Safe Place and
safe space, in order to catapultus into what he has designed for

(07:42):
us. And that doesn't come fromjust hearing instruction. You
have to apply the instructionthat you hear, and that's what
obedience is called. So it'scool that you hear your parents
say, clean your room, but itreally means nothing, if you
like, oh yeah, I know we'resupposed to clean the room. Then

(08:04):
you got to clean it. You got toprove yourselves DOER of this
word of this law, and not justhearers who deceive themselves
just because you're filled upfrom a word on a Sunday morning
through, you know, a YouTubevideo or any other social media
clips or wherever you receiveyour word daily devotionals. You

(08:26):
know it's cool that you'refeeding yourself that, but we
have to study this thing. Wehave to dissect this thing. We
have to pray for revelations onthis thing, because once we
receive it from the Lord is thengoing to be our responsibility
to uphold it. They say ignoranceis bliss, but ignorance is not

(08:47):
an excuse, because God is goingto, I think God will acknowledge
that you might not knowsomething that you genuinely
didn't know, but he's going to,I'm, I'm pretty sure, I'm pretty
sure he's, he will acknowledgethat, because he's a just and
understanding God. However, Idon't think he will accept it,
because I'm pretty sure he'sgonna say, hey, what were you

(09:08):
doing with your time? Did youseek me in these things? Did you
labor? Did you wrestle with thisscripture trying to figure out
how can you apply? Is he alive?
And most people probably wouldsay no, and that's not a good
place to be in. Guys, we can'tdeceive ourselves, we can't
delude ourselves, but we have toprove ourselves to be doers of
the word, and not just hearerswho deceive themselves. You

(09:34):
know, hearing the Word andknowing the word is not enough.
You have to be able to apply itto your life, because God has
given us clear instructions onwhat to do. And a beautiful
example of this is Satanhimself. Satan was not in the
beginning with God, but Satanwas there at the beginning of

(09:54):
creation, when God made hisangelic being. Jesus so Satan
knew God first hand.
However, he still he still fell.
He still followed lust of hisown heart, and God gave him
away, just like he does us. Onlyexception is that we have the
opportunity for salvation to bereconciled back to God versus

(10:19):
the angels and Satan, of course, but even Satan came down, and
that's how he tempted Adam. Imean, sorry, Eve and Jesus, the
only thing he does is prettymuch ask us questions, to get us
thinking differently than whatGod says. When Eve responded to
Satan that, you know, we willsurely die if you know we, you

(10:43):
know, touch the tree, though, hereally said, if you eat from the
tree. But either way, Satan usedthat lack of understanding or
just that opportunity to plantseeds of doubt. And he said, Did
God really say so that was Eve'scase. Then fast forward to

(11:03):
Jesus, whom he knows is God heknows was there from the
beginning with God, because Johnone, chapter one, says that in
the beginning was the Word, andthe Word was with God, and the
Word was God. So if Satan knewGod in the beginning of his

(11:23):
creation and of Satan'screation, still rebelled against
God, knowing who God is in hisfullness and in the fullness of
His glory, then come down tothen come to test Jesus while
he's down on earth, and all hedid was flip the Scripture
because he was quoting scriptureguys. Satan was quoting a lot of

(11:45):
stuff for the New Testament.
Those three differenttemptations, all three of them
came from the New Testament.
However, the only thing was, hemanipulated what it said to try
to make it seem like it wassomething else. So thankfully,
Jesus is the Word. He wasgrounded, and, you know, and
studied a lot in the temple ashe hit, you know, the Jewish

(12:07):
maturity, and that's, I believe, age 13. So just around that
time, Jesus just was studying, and even wildest scholars So,
and that's how Jesus, of course,he's God, but that's how Jesus
was able to resist the devil.
Nobody really defeats the devil,in a sense, but we do resist,

(12:29):
and he will flee, at least forthat moment. And that's all
Jesus did, guys was was groundedin the Word enough to know when
somebody came at him with a wordthat is not from the Lord. He's
able to interpret that. He'sable to discern that and stick
to what he knew God told him todo, instead of somebody else

(12:51):
coming and telling them what Godsaid or what God really meant.
And it's like no you have tohave that assurance and
confidence in yourself in orderfor you to live it out. Because
when I said all this to say,Satan knows the word, guys, so
for you to just say you know theword or you hear the word, it is
not enough, because you have totruly understand the word. You

(13:15):
have to be a doer of the word.
Because though Satan knows theword, he ain't doing the word at
all he but he knows. He knowsour book in and out. He knows
the guy who The book represents,at least better, I would argue,
better than we do, since he seethem in the fullness of His
glory, yet he still isdisobedient. So again, just

(13:35):
knowing and hearing is notenough. Guys in the next
scripture we're going to shootat today is John 14 five. This
is from the Gospel of John. Isit John 1415 sorry I said John
14 five, but it is John 14 verse15, and it says, this is Gospel

(13:59):
of John. If you love me, youwill keep My commandments. Now,
these are the words of Christ, our Savior. If you love me, you
will keep My commandments. Sucha powerful first guys, this is
it leaves no room. We know thatHis word, this whole Bible, is

(14:20):
God's commandment and sense forus. So if you love me, and you
know he's talking about himself,he's talking about God, you will
keep My commandments. Wow,there's no ifs, there's no buts.
There's no choice in this matteris very, very clear and again,

(14:41):
tying this back to obedience, keep my commandments. You will
keep my commandments. The onlylittle caveat that says, If you
love me, because a lot of peoplewill say they love them. I
remember asking my olderbrother, but. Four he was
introduced to the introduced toGod, introduced to Christ.

(15:04):
Through His Spirit justovertaking him. He made a
comment one time saying, Yeah, you know, I love God and me
being in my word. You know, Idon't like to bust people
bubbles as far as, like my owngame, making them feel some kind
of way. However, I don't wantpeople living their lives either
when it comes to this book. Now,if, if you talking about another

(15:27):
god, cool, hey, you know, doyour thing. You know God. Say,
choose you today. And if youchoose it another god, you know,
it just my it's just my job towarn you, then pray for you and
just live a life around you, onethat emulates God, so that you
know through my works that Goddoes exist, and he is an amazing

(15:49):
God. But back to this, you know,he said he loved God, and I was
like, Man, how can you love Godbut you don't even know his
commandments to keep him. Youknow that we went here and God
says this. This is a COVID Thiefthroughout the old the New
Testament. If you love me, youwill keep My commandments. So

(16:11):
I'm I don't care how much aperson feels from their heart
that they have a strongaffection towards God. That is
cool. But if you die in thatstate, it's simply just an
emotional state, wow. You knowthe the Scripture says, you

(16:33):
know, many people will say,Lord, Lord, and He will say,
Depart from me, for I never knewthee, and I don't want to be in
that place. I'm sure none of myaudience want to be in that
place either, where we have towhere we believe something then
we we reach our finaldestination. Well, thought we

(16:56):
did, and for God just to kick usout and turn us around because
we just been deceived. You know,we have been deceived and
thinking, Oh, just because Iacknowledge God's existence, and
I'm quote, unquote, thankful forhim
for being so good in my life.

(17:17):
That doesn't mean anything, guys, it really doesn't, if you
don't surrender your whole lifeto Christ in the way that Christ
wants you to surrender your lifeto Him, it doesn't matter. I
don't care if you feel like theBible's been manipulated, or you
don't like the pastor, Pastordoing this, Pastor doing that,
the deacons doing this, anddoing that, other people in the

(17:39):
church and making you feel somekind of way. You know they're
hypocrites and all these excusesfor you not to live out the
commandments of God. God is notgoing to hold other people's sin
and other people's shortcomingsover you. Oh, he won't use their

(18:01):
shortcomings and stuff to belike, okay, yeah, just because,
you know, Joe slow, over heredidn't do right? Sally, you
know, it's cool. No, he's goingto be like, yo. Sally, why
didn't you find a new church?
Did you pray for those people?
How are you any different fromthem in your sin? Again, to me,
so these are the things God isgoing to hold us accountable for

(18:21):
so it's important for us to stayobedient. Guys, these aren't we
don't have an option but to stayobedient. If you love me, you
will keep my commandments, youknow. So you can't love God and
not live in obedience to Hisword I wrote down to the way a
parent shows their love isthrough a number of things, such

(18:44):
as providing, protecting,comforting, sacrificing, etc,
but the way a child shows theirlove is through faith and
obedience, faith and trust. Wehave to trust that whatever our
parents tells us is for thebest. You don't necessarily have
to understand why to brush ourteeth, wash the dishes, make our

(19:08):
bed, have our rooms clean. Wedon't have to understand these
things in order to live in thefullness of our parents. Love
our parents, protection andguidance for us, and yes, I know
eventually we grow up and do ourown thing. But when it comes to
this faith, there's necessarily,it's not necessarily being grown
in the faith. You can there's abeing immature in the faith. But

(19:32):
God wants us to always have achild like attitude when it
comes to him, meaning we don'tneed to necessarily understand
something. God just wants us tobe obedient not to say we don't.
We can't seek understanding thathe won't give it to her because
he does. Wisdom is for anyonewho acts according to James and

(19:54):
in the new New Testament, NewCovenant, James makes it clear
that, um. Wisdom is freely givento all. All we have to do is
ask. That's that's one of theonly things that I know that God
will give us when we ask, because it ain't going to be
money everybody. That'd beeasier times a different way.

(20:15):
But no matter what, God willgive us the peace that surpasses
understanding and and eventuallyallow us to have the wisdom to
go through it, you know, notnecessarily wisdom to understand
everything, but the wisdom to gothrough it and do what we're
supposed to do, do what we'recalled to do. So again, the

(20:37):
verses today is James 122and John 1415,
so now that we went over whatGod has to say about obedience,
what do we do? How does thatlook in action for us and I
simply wrote, choose God anddeny self, we were had to die to

(20:59):
ourselves in order to be bornagain into new creations. You
know, workers that's suitablefor the good work, but the only
way we can do that is if wechoose God and we deny
ourselves. There's no other way.
There is no other way. Guys,it's not easy, but we do have
help. How does that help look?

(21:21):
You know, it's through God,seeking God's face through
prayer. Seeking God's facethrough worship, in order just
to get in the right head space, the right spirit, right heart
place, in order to continue tomove. We got support groups and
friends through your localchurches, through Christian
organizations. Be careful justbeing around people who are not

(21:42):
biblically grounded guys. Theymight have wisdom, they might
have advice and stuff, but itmight it might not be Godly
wisdom, biblical wisdom. Itmight not be godly or biblical
advice. So gotta make sure thesupport groups and friends that
we have our ideally from yourchurch or church that you know

(22:03):
is respected, and you know wehave absent programs out there
that's faith based, that willallow us to choose God over
ourselves. Again, it's aboutbeing obedient to Him. It's not
about us feeling any kind ofway, feeling good, feeling bad.
You know, those things arefleeing, feelings are fleeing.
But God is eternal, and thethings that we do for God are

(22:27):
eternal. They don't go to waste, even if you don't receive any
kind of reward or blessing forbeing obedient this lifetime,
remember that you're going to beon the other side of this life
longer than this. I you know, Ithink it was Solomon. Say your
life is but a vapor. Because, inthe grand scheme, you could be

(22:48):
120 years old. 120 versus 1000years is nothing versus 10,000
years, 100,000 years, a millionyears and so on. So the time
that we do have though you'reliving moment to moment, breath
by breath, second by second.
You know it'sit's not that long. It is not

(23:09):
that long when we look at itrelatively so we gotta make sure
that we're choosing God in allthat we do. And we have to deny
self. We have to deny self. Godis going to make it all work. I
am convinced. I am confident, because every time I tested his
word in the ways that I can'ttest in this lifetime, at least

(23:29):
he's never failed me. So I haveno reason to doubt that the
stuff he said about the nextlife won't be true. If anything,
I'm excited because of how goodhe has been showing me on this
side, his promises fulfill andin us and just overall, you
know? I know, I know it'schallenging. I know it's

(23:51):
difficult to choose God, to beobedient to God, in the sense
that the enemy, Satan himselfand his dominions. They have
their rulers over this world, ina sense. You know, God is the
ultimate ruler, of course, buthe does give them rain to
manipulate, to kind of time andto do his thing here. And it's a

(24:15):
lot easier when you're deceived,to not be obedient to God. You
know, Sin always feels betterthan righteousness, as far as
when you committing, committingit in that moment when you're
not, especially when I groundedwith God, sin is appealing guys.
It's not a and, of course, maybenot every. I'm not saying every

(24:37):
sin is appealing to everyone, but there are sins that are
appealing to each and every oneof us. That is for sure, the
devil cannot tempt me witheverything, but there are some
things he most definitelycontent me with, and at some
point, we just have to grow up,guys. We have to be mature
believers. I was recording afew. At your episode last night

(24:59):
with my same sister, Tiffanythat I mentioned earlier, and we
just talking about the matureChristian. You know, she one of
her answers to the questionswas, how does she come about?
How does she balance everythingand deal with struggles? I
forgot the exact question, but Iremember her responses like,
Hey, I have no choice. You know, you know you have to be mature.

(25:21):
You really got no choice but todepend on God, but to lean on
God, despite, despite thefeelings, despite the hardships,
the failures, the setbacks, wehave to choose him. We just have
to grow up, especially whatyou're walking and your purpose?
Myself and her were bothlicensed ministers, you know,

(25:44):
just active in ministry. Her alot longer than me, as far as
the ministry go, and of course, being licensed but, but once you
step into that purpose, in yourcalling, man, we really don't
have an excuse to why we're notbeing obedient, why we're not
choosing God over ourselves, especially since we know the

(26:06):
word he's he's going to hold usto a higher standard, especially
us who teaches. She's a teacheras well. So we were just talking
about that. And there are thingsthat don't feel the best, but is
the best for us so or they arethe best for us. And it's like
medicine. You know, I alwaysrelated to medicine, you know,

(26:26):
if you're really sickly andstuff. But, you know, you take
some good cough syrup medicine, you know, over the counter, even
prescribe it might tastedisgusting. You know that
robotus And you know that NyQuilthat day, Quill, you know, these
are the most pleasant tastingmedicines, especially what you
boo from childhood. They allflavor it with the grape and the

(26:48):
strawberries and cherries. Nomore. It's just good old food
coloring and nastiness. So Buthowever, though it doesn't taste
good. You know, sometimes wemight have to receive some
shots. Sometimes the medicinefrom the shots might make our
body ache a little bit. However,I related to that in a sense

(27:10):
that though it's nasty, itdoesn't feel good coming in. The
results speak for themselves.
Working out if you're out ofshape, guys, if you're out of
shape and you start to work out,you won't feel it. Man, you're
feeling it that day, the nextday, maybe two, three days to
come, because your body is notused to it. However, we can't

(27:31):
say just because we feel bad, that is wrong. No. In fact, you
know, probably the worst, theworst we feel, to a degree, is
probably the better for us inthe long run when it comes to
certain things, of course, butjust the aspect of if it's is
only right, if it feels good, ifthat's the case, that Jesus

(27:52):
would have never went to thecross. And we know that by the
prayers in the Garden ofGethsemane. We know that by his
proclamation on the cross, whenHe asked God, why did he forsake
him so again, if it was allabout feeling good, that's you

(28:12):
know, whatever God wants for meis going to feel right. No, no,
no, no. When God told Abraham toleave his family and leave all
his possessions that ain't feelright, you know, not knowing
where the heck he was going andstuff like that. When he told
Jonah to go to Nineveh, thatdidn't feel right. You know, it

(28:33):
felt wrong. It's like, Yo, God,I can do this other stuff. But
they're like, No, I want you todo this stuff here so you can
just at some point. We just haveto have a spiritual maturity to
understand that, yo, this mightnot feel right. This might not
will feel right in just like ina pseudo sense, might not feel

(28:53):
right in the actual, physical, emotional, literal sense, but
it's still the right thing todo. We don't have to feel right
to be right. Guys, you do nothave to feel right to be right.
So I just wanted to end thatright there. Um, and all in all
guys, if you need prayer, if youneed some help when it comes to

(29:13):
being obedient, I am here foryou, please. If, if you have a
local church or some people thatexemplify the word. Even if you
don't know the word, you'll beable to tell people who are
living by it, because the worldis so opposite from the word.
And even though the world hasdifferent ways of going about

(29:33):
things, there's somethingspecial about those who those
who choose to live according tothe Word. So if you have a group
of people, a brother, a sister,a friend, an old teacher,
whoever, if you have a colleaguethat you know that are really
walking in this word and reallyliving in an obedient state,

(29:54):
please, please, please surroundyourself by them. Seek prayer,
seek guidance. But if you. Don'thave that and you're listening
right now. My information is inthe show notes. Please reach out
to me. I have a slew of peoplethat are ready to pour into you.
I can call them off all one byone in my head, but you know

(30:15):
that's that's neither here orthere. I just want you to know
that prayer helps us with ourhearts. You know, with our
hearts, becoming obedient to theLord. A testimony myself, when
God first was dealing with meand coming back to his we're not
even resting, coming back, butgetting into his word. I ran
guys. I denied God in thebiblical sense. I didn't want to

(30:41):
read the Bible, the Bible. Ithought the Bible was
manipulated. I thought it was,you know, not only just
manipulate. I thought it wascorrupt. I thought it was
contradicting. And ultimately, Ijust didn't believe in it, guys,
not everything in it, at leastso or or I didn't want to
believe it. That might be evenbetter. I didn't want to believe

(31:02):
in the Bible, so, but God usedme. He God used me for that.
However, when I finally cameacross, when God finally got me
to a place of, like, consideration of it, you know,
it's just something hit me, andI just realized, like, Hey, I
had to pray. I just say, Hey,man, this book is boring to me.

(31:23):
You know, I can say it. I cansay it now as a as a licensed
minister, now, the Bible wasboring to me. I had no joy. I
was in dread and all, not how weuse all today, but by this
original definition, like, we'reawful. I was just distraught

(31:44):
thinking about reading the bookI didn't even believe in.
However, when I was praying toGod, I was like, hey, I really
do believe you want me to readthis book. However, I need you
to change my heart. Because Idon't want to. I don't think
it's real and it's boring. Thiswas my prayer back in early 2017

(32:05):
or late 2016 I'm pretty sure, onthe early 17 part,
um, he started, he called me toread the Bible in 2016 like
midway, and I was just crying toGod, I'll say, Yeah, I'll do it,
you know, I got to a point whereI'm gonna do it today, you know,
then I'm doing in the morning, morning come, oh, I'm gonna do
it later. Later come, I'm gonnado it in the morning. You know,

(32:27):
I thought about it every singleday, though, that is for sure. I
definitely did think aboutgetting in that book every day,
however I did it, you know. Butnow fast forward, because of
that prayer, and because of mysincereness and that and by
still doing what God told me todo again, that obedience, he
used my obedience, plus theprayer, to transform me into a

(32:48):
teacher today, um, myassignment, my purpose that he's
given me in 2020, I remember theworld shut down with COVID. It
was, it was in March, likearound the world. Around the
time the world first shut down,I was in my backyard, just, you
know, spending time with theLord, you know, doing my thing.
I just heard him so clearly, said, The people need to know my
word, or people need to hear MyWord, and how I interpreted that

(33:11):
was, the people need tounderstand. There's, there's a
lot of word being spoken that'sbeing read that people are
hearing but they're notunderstanding. They're not
getting it. They're not seeinghow powerful and transformative
My word is, and I need you to godo it. So that's what I took and

(33:32):
once I accepted that. Man, it'sbeen, I've been on fire ever
since. Well, it's 2024 now. Man,I love that Bible. Guys, I love
the Bible, not saying I'm themost obedient person ever,
definitely not by far. However,I do have an obedient heart, and
I even when I'm wrong andknowing I'm wrong, you know, I

(33:55):
can't stay wrong. I can't Nomatter what, I know that word
and I I can't go back to not theword guys. I'm so far deep. I
know what it's like. I triedalmost everything outside of
God, besides Satan, directly, atleast, I tried Buddhism,
Hinduism, then never really gotinto Islam or anything like

(34:15):
that. I already, you know, respected them, as far as, like,
okay, their dedication andprowess, but I didn't really
like identity groups. So atleast the Nation of Islam over
here in America definitelyseemed like more pro black than
just a influx of whoever wantsto believe definitely seemed
like a black identity religionto me at the time. So, you know,

(34:38):
I didn't ever want to be a partof, like, no cult or anything
so, but I tried pretty mucheverything, and nothing was
fulfilling, including myself, you know, just kind of whole,
believing yourself like, what, what you know? So, yeah, let's
say, you know, put your trust insomebody out there in the world,
and they failed. You would? Youbelieve? In them wholeheartedly

(35:01):
again? No, I think that'sfoolish, but we do that to
ourselves, you know, we believein yourself, like, Yo, I just
messed up. Why would I believein myself? You know, I'm messed
up. I'm not perfect. Why would Ibelieve in something that's not
perfect, that's crazy, that'sinsane. I'm saying that now, of
course, now that I'm withChrist, but before I was just,
oh yeah, you know, I can do it.
I'm strong enough. I have thewillpower. Uh, what they call it

(35:22):
manifestation. All I have to dois, is think about it, save my
little mantras and and it'llcome true. Yeah. Okay, so either
way, guys, the prayer works.
Prayer with obedience definitelyworks. Uh, acts ask for a new
heart, a new mindset that's tobe transformed and renewed

(35:44):
daily, and watch God, watch howhe shows up in the midst and
just completely transforms andshifts everything you thought
you knew about anything when itcomes to his word and being
obedient. So I just thank youfor stopping by today for my
first official episode of givewithdrawal podcast, thank you

(36:06):
again, like I said, for stoppingby. If you found that this has
been helpful, please share, leave a comment, hit me up. I

challenges or your testimonywhen it comes to obedience, and
I promise to share it some way, somehow, maybe through a
newsletter or something. I mighteventually start a Instagram

(36:27):
page or threads. What is a newthing? Excretions, but they say
it's a blue sky that's like anew a new thing. So I might
check blue sky out while it'sstill relatively new and hot,
see if we can do something overthere. But nevertheless, we know
just want to give God His glory, and I just want to thank him,
most importantly, for allowingme to come to you with this word

(36:49):
today. So anyway, hope you havea great day, looking forward to
next time. Take care. Thank youfor listening to give it your
